Arabic localization for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

Arabic localization was provided by "Arab Business Machine Ltd. VAD Middle-East". However latest version available is for Mac OS X 10.5.6 Leopard, as you know that's an old version of Leopard and there is no Snow Leopard localization until now.
The file list is available here ( http://www.appleme.ae/ara/support/arabicreleases/index.htm ) however you need to register (it's free).
Since Arab Business Machine Ltd is busy, I figure that the only solution is to do the localization yourself. So is there any tool we can use to create a "localization profile"?
If you have tips on improving Arabic usage in Snow Leopard that is also appreciated!
Semi offtopic: iLife Arabic localization is only available for outdated iLife 08 and iWork 08 software as well. Arabic manuals are for late 2008 macbooks, 2007 iMacs.. but I just mentioned them because they were on the same page.

  • Antivirus for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

    Hi,
I am new to the mac world, Can you advice me to find out the best Antivirus software for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
    Thank You

Hi, and welcome to the forums.
There are no viruses that run on OSX. None. Zip. Zero.
If you're running Windoze on your Mac, that's the same as running it on a PC, so it needs all the same anti-everything stuff you'd use on a PC.
There is some "malware," such as Trojans, for Macs, though. But (unlike viruses that can get onto your system without your knowledge), you must approve their installation (via your Admin password) and/or operation (via the "This application was downloaded from the internet ..." prompt).
Appropriately enough, some of these Trojans are included in pirated versions of Apple software, such as iWork!
For the gory details, see Thomas Reed's [Mac Virus Guide|http://www.reedcorner.net/thomas/guides/macvirus].

  • Arabic localization for Mac OS X

Apple promised to add Arabic language localization since 2006 ( http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/index.cfm?RSS&NewsID=13622 ) and until now there are no first party Arabic localization from Apple.
Apple IMC Middle East is providing an Arabic localization solution but it is out of date, they are still stuck on version 10.5.2 ( http://arabcomputers.com.sa/index.php?op=prog&idcat=42 ) and it appears that updating to 10.5.4 or later will break it.
I would prefer that Apple release Arabic localization to Mac OS X directly. The question is, when?

Nobody here can help you with that. To tell Apple your preferences, make sure you use this link too:

  • Using ms office 2008 for mac home & student edition with snow leopard serv

    Hi all,
I have a very particular question.
I have a new small business starting up and we want to make full use of leopard and snow leopard server in our infrastructure. We also want to use os x for all our client machines.
We want to use ms office 2008 for mac as our main offfice software but i believe we don't need all the uses or festures of the business edtion and i need to seek good advice and clarity on this.
We won't ever use any microsoft exchange servers but instead willl use the apple mail servers and all the other apple server services.
My question is, based on the fact that we will have an all apple mac os x backend and client frontend but want to use the ms office for mac as our business software, and also based on the fact that we wont use the "Build your Brand clip art, Build your skills by lynda.com, the Remote Desktop for mac 2, the Microsoft Exchange Server Support and the Microsoft Windows sharepoint services support, do we really need to go for the business edition? Can we not just use the home and student edition and get the same functionality using everything else apart form what we listed as we wont need these?
The other question is, the Entourage 2008, Web services Edition, will this work with an apple backend instead of ms exchange server?
Kind regards and thanks for your wise advice,
    Neil Watson

    Thanks, Kurt--I understand now.
One reason I was alarmed was that evidently when the tech installed Office 2008, something went awry with either the key installer or the key code, because when I finished the first two updates (12.1 and 12.2), I tried to open Entourage to see if the problem I'd been having was resolved. Instead of opening, Office gave me a message that my product key was invalid!  I did find the product key, and called the tech, who will come by to see what's wrong (he's an honest guy, so I'm sure it's a legitimate error of some kind, not a pirated copy). But the thought of installing two pages of updates and maybe running into the same glitch every time made me blanch.  So I'm glad to know that Microsoft is still doing Service Packs for 2008!

  • PSE 8 for Mac won't Install; running Snow Leopard 10.6.2

    Hi,
When PSE 8 was released for the Mac, I bought a copy from Amazon.  I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 on two 24" iMacs and one MBP 15.3.  The Adobe installer would hang about three quarters through the installation.  I'm running PSE 6 for Mac without a problem.  I returned the software to Amazon without a problem.
A month or two later I downloaded a trial version from Adobe's web site thinking perhaps the DVD I had gotten from Amazon was possibly defective.  Nope.  Same problem trying the trial version.  It just hung about three quarters through the install on all three machines.
I'm running Photoshop Extended CS 3 with Snow Leopard and have no problems.
    What gives?
    Thanks,
    Linnie K

    Hi,
I wouldn't know.  The first copy I bought from Amazon and returned.  The second one was downloaded from your web site as a trial and I removed all the bits and pieces after killing an hour with the installer.  I didn't think I could download the trial version a second time.
I'm using a Mac with Snow Leopard 10.6.2.  My Photoshop Extended CSS3 and PSE 6 work just fine.  I'm afraid that if I deleted all you had suggested, I would have trouble reinstalling the two apps I just mentioned.  From what I've read on various forums,, Mac users (not all) are still having difficulty installing PSE 8.
BTW, this is the only app I've had any problem installing on my system.  I deliberately waited for v. 10.6.2 to install the newer OS as there were earlier incompatibilities.
    Thanks,
    Linnie

  • Can my Intel DP965LT motherboard Core2 Duo Processor support / intsall for Mac OX S 10.6 snow leopard?

Hi, I have intel DP965LT Motherboard, Core2 duo processor with Nvidia Geforce 9600 graphic card now. I would like to install Mac OS X Snow Leopard v10.6. Can my intel spec support Mac OS X Snow Leopard / Lion version?
    Please guide me, thanks !

We can't advise how to install OS X onto a Windows PC.
It's against the EULA to install OS X onto anything but a Apple Macintosh computer.
It is possible and there are websites dedicated to teaching you how, but it's a real pain and you have to trust unknown sources for your software to do so.
Then there is the probem of third party software, as OS X evolves and changes, developers attempt to keep up and drop older versions of their software.
Also Apple drops support for older OS X versions and only provides updates via AppleID on newer ones, so your now getting your security fixes from unknown sources instead of from Apple directly.
So it's a short term hobby I'd say you would have another year, then your seriously left behind unless you buy a real Mac and with OS X installed.
If your running Windows XP, Windows 7 is a nice piece of work and Windows 8 Pro can be downgraded to Windows 7.
With Windows you get support for a decade, so Windows 7 will get support until 2020.
Apple's OS X changes every year or two, so your constantly changing your machine to keep up, so you won't find any peace running OS X on a PC.
    Good Luck

    A backup.
After that's there's the usual list, DataRescue, FileSalvage. General reading on this topic - http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/datarecovery.html  It would help to know the actual problem since sometimes a straight answer to this kind of question isn't always the way to a solution to the real issue.

  • HT6012 I had an older version of Mac OS, I upgraded to Snow leopard and then OSx Lion, most of my software has been upgraded except for Imovie.  Now I can't get my projects to upload or share to iDVD or iTunes.  What do I do?

I had an older version of Mac OS, I upgraded to Snow leopard and then OSx Lion, most of my software has been upgraded except for Imovie.  Now I can't get my projects to upload or share to iDVD or iTunes.   Also to compound the situation everytime I attempt to share to iDVD or iTunes, iMovie quits unexpectedly.    What do I do?

If you want to sync it to the iPad from that Mac, you need to upgrade it to at least 10.5.8.
If you want to copy the music to another Mac, you don't. Move the iTunes folder of the item in the Finder's sidebar over as you would any other folder. If you put it somewhere other than the Music folder, launch iTunes with the Option key held down and point it to that location.

To get iLife and iWork. If you only want iPhoto or other single apps from iLife '11 you can get them from the App Store after you've upgraded to 10.6.6. iPhoto, iMovie or Garage Band for $15 each and Pages, Keynote or Numbers from iWork '09 for $20 each.
Once you are at 10.6.8 you can buy Lion for $29 from the App Store. Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.
As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.

If your profile is correct you're already on the final version of Snow Leopard (10.6.8). Sure it wasn't Lion it was asking for?
If that's the only version available on the app store, you'll need to source a copy of the iWork '09 DVD - not cheap now - only available via Amazon or eBay etc.

ipod touch 4g 4.3 not detecting in itunes 10.1.2, i am using mac os x 10.3 snow leopard, can someone help?

You do not need Snow Leopord (10.6.X), but you do need Leopord (10.5.8) and iTunes 10.x for iOS 4.3. You need iTunes 10.5 for iOS 5
For the Current  (iOS 5 iPod touch specs)
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.5.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
iTunes 10.5 or later (free download from www.itunes.com/download)7

    Hi Shirley,
    Long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

I have recently purchased a Nokia BH-503 and I am having issues when using it with my mac ( Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard [10.6.2]).
The device pairs successfully, but when trying to connect, usually the first attempt either fails, or I get sound with a tinny voice, truncated and accelerated as if playing double speed.
If I go to the Sound Options, change the audio to Mono and back to Stereo, the audio is fixed though.
Does anyone know of a fix/firmware update for this problem?
