  • Arabic Text in Crystal Report

I am having issues in displaying Arabic in crystal report. I am pretty sure that the data stored in Oracle (10g) is okay because when I query the same data using SQL Developer or TOAD, it is fetching and displaying Arabic contents as well. However, when the same query is used in the Crystal report, it is converting Arabic text into some weird Characters like ãÎÊáÝ etc. However, when I type Arabic in Crystal report, it is fine. The only issue is when I retrieve Arabic data from the database in Crystal report and try to show it, it converts it into some weird characters.
I am using Crystal Report 2008 version 12.0.0.x and I used the font of the field to be "Arial Unicode" but still of no use. I even tried changing the font setting from "right to left"; still no use. I have also tried using various fonts like 'Arabic Typesetting", "Arial Unicode", "Arial Narrow" etc but problem is still there.
    Any suggestions?

Sorry Fahran - not sure I understand. Are you saying that all connections cause the same issue in CR 2011 with SP 9?
SP 9 can be downloaded here:

  • Arabic Text - Font Substitution Issue - Urgent.

    Hi,
We are using After Effects to create some Arabic Subtitles, we are using the Arabic Text script to make the arabic text to be written correctly (all joined up, flowing from Right to Left).
We need to use a client's custom Arabic font on the project, and this font is being used correctly on most of the text, but on odd characters After Effects defaults the characters back to the "Adobe Arabic" font. If we try and select these characters and change the font back to the one we need to, as soon as I click enter, it substitutes the font back to Adobe Arabic.
Is there a way to stop this?
    Thanks,

Think I've narrowed down the problem a bit, After Effects can read the characters correctly, e.g:
If I copy and paste the text in to after effects, the characters appear, but the flow of text is incorrect, and the arabic characters are not connected how they should be.
To amend this, if i put the text through the Arabic Text script V2.0 from AE Scripts, the flow of text is corrected, but some of the characters are then substituted back to Adobe Arabic, and it is impossible to change them back to the font we need.
I think the problem lies within the arabic text script!

  • Arabic text showing garbage in old version report

I have an Arabic report created in old version of Crystal Report and used in VB 6 application.
Its working well from the VB 6 application.
Now I want to make slight changes in report when I open it in any of Crystal Report versions 8.0, 9.0, Visual Studio 2005, Visual Studio 2008 etc. it shows Arabic text as garbage boxes in both data and labels instead of text in Arabic.
I tried everything to resolve this problem, I tried several different versions of Crystal Report but not solved. I am not sure which version it was originally created but I know about the version of ActiveX controls application is using i.e. 8.0.
Any clue to solve this problem? Anyone faced similar problem.
Thank you very much in advance.

    Hi Adil,
    Please try the following:
This behavior has been resolved in CR 9 as CR 9 supports UNICODE. For versions earlier than CR 9, proceed to the solution provided in this article.
    ====================
In order to display double-byte characters correctly in the English Build of Crystal Reports, follow these rules:
    · Use an operating system that is able to handle the appropriate language set.
    For example:
To show Thai characters in the Crystal Reports designer, a Thai operating system must be used.
    · Use an appropriate font for each field.
    For example:
To show traditional Chinese characters (Big5 encoding) in the Crystal Reports designer, select a font such as Mingliu.
    · If you are using a Japanese database client, ensure the encoding on the client is set to Shift-JIS. Please note that we do not fully support UNICODE.
    NOTE ======
The English version of Crystal Reports has not been fully tested with non-English characters or on non-English operating systems.
Crystal Reports is localized into the following languages: Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese. Customers using data stored in these languages are recommended to use these versions of Crystal Reports as they fully support the respective language and operating system.
    ============
Known limitations of using non-English data with the English build of Crystal Reports are:
    · Exporting to Microsoft Word and Excel 8.0 yields corrupted characters. This is a limitation of the export dlls.
    · Non-English characters within the Crystal Reports formula editor appear corrupted, however, the output of the formula appears correctly when previewing the report.
    · Database field names and table names in non-English characters may appear corrupted in the field explorer or may be unable for selection.
NOTE:Same steps can be applied for  languages such as the European languages French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese as well as Greek, Thai, Arabic, Hebrew, and Russian.

  • Arabic text from clipboard to font not crossing over correctly??

Okay, so I can go to Google Translate and type in a phrase and get it rendered into Arabic, and it looks correct.  But when I copy and paste the Arabic characters into Illustrator, the letters that come out (using one of the many Arabic/Farsi fonts I have) aren't the same.  It's as if you had "Mary Had A Little Lamb" in Arabic in Google Translate, but when you copy and paste you get "wblwevarrtblempswciartmfe"  - total gibberish.  I can paste it to a TextEdit file and it looks correct, just not when I paste it into Illustrator.
Anyone know how to make that work correctly???
Here's a screen shot.  At the top is a screen shot taken from having pasted it into a TextEdit file.  The bottom is the exact same "paste" into Illustrator.
    Thanks!
    Butch

    WHich version?
Only in the MENA version you can truly edit RTL writing.
In CC you can perhaps paste the text in when the Indic options are active and the composer is set to that language.

I'm not sure if someone can assit us with this, but Arabic fonts on 10.3 are so bad. It used to be perfect with the old version 10.2 and 10.2.1. The text fronts looks like the old Android fronts. Is there a way to change it on 10.3 to look and feel like the old 10.2?

  • Can we create DBI dashboards, reports, etc. in Arabic text?

    Hi!
Can we create DBI dashboards, reports, etc. in Arabic text? If we can create forms in Arabic, does it mean we can also do the same in DBI?
    Thanks.

You can make a form with 10 or more items (depends on the maximum number of the columns you have) and place them in a non base table block. Then you populate the block with a cursor and if you press a button you can populate the same block with another cursor making visible only the columns you need.
    Hope it helps you,

  • HTML font size in Oracle Reports 11g

I am migrating from Oracle Reports 10g in OAS to Reports 11g in WebLogic.
However when I display all changed reports using Web Browser (same), the font size is changed(comparing the 10g reports to 11g reports). I would like to keep unchanged.
    (command using DESTYPE=HTML)
May anybody can give me some guidance? (would like to see if there are any file or setting in EM which can alter the size of font in web)

  • Identify device fonts compatible with Arabic text

    Hi,
Is there anyway to workout what device fonts are available that can render arabic text? I was hoping there would be something like similar to when you specify a font family list and default to _sans but I can't find anything? Does anybody have any solution or alternative method to solve this?
    Cheers

There's no programmatic way to do this in ActionScript, and its a bit tricky -- you need to find out which fonts have the correct glyphs and OpenType tables. But, I will say that in the new 10.1 Player (available as public beta), it is much better about fallback, so that if the font you specify doesn't have the correct glyphs, it will look for another font that does and use that instead. So if you were putting up a font menu, it would include all the fonts, but if the user picks one that doesn't work for that script, the text will still appear correctly, just in a different font. I think its a good question though. It would be nice if you could specify a locale, and get back a list of fonts.

please guys I need an answer. To get answers about using iText I use "iText In Action, 2nd edition" by the prime author of iText - Bruno Lowagie.Classic way to make money - make the API free and sell the documentation. Also an honorable way to make money IMO.I was using iText before 2004 when the first edition of the book came out ( 4 years or so after the library was first introduced) and it was hard work. PDF is a very complex document format and just using the Javadoc does not really get you anywhere. There are many 'gotchas' in iText and most of the iText tutorials cover only the very basics and pretty much none of the 'gochas'. The book starts off with very simple examples that could be constructed from the Javadoc but then it does move on to the more complex issues. Worth every penny.

  • Can I embed Arabic text in flash?

    1. If so, how can I do this? When I cut and paste an arabic
text from a notepad or photoshop, all the characters comes out
    wrong.
    2. I believe I can use an external txt or xml file instead.
But if I do this, would the user be able to get the right
characters / fonts if they don't have the arabic fonts on their
    machines?
    thanks in advance.

    About embedding font outlines:
Let's say I want to use a decorative font - call it
"Lithograph" (one I commonly use) - to type the word "HELLO" in my
Flash movie. Flash will embed the outlines of the actual shapes of
the Lithograph characters H E L and O into the SWF. It treats them
as actual outlines, not as fonts. That way, even if you don't have
Lithograph on your system, you will still see "HELLO" in my SWF,
formatted as Lithograph font. This applies to Static Text only. It
is done automatically. You do not need to physically embed the font
yourself. You do not need to convert the letters to shapes.
Therefore I am GUESSING that the same thing happens when you
use Arabic: Flash will embed the shapes of those Arabic letters. So
the end user does not need to have Arabic on their system. Again,
this applies only to Static Text, not Dynamic or Input text.
To see whether this is happening, generate a Size Report (in
the Publish settings), open the Size Report text file, and scroll
down close to the bottom: it will tell you exactly which letters
    are embedded in the file.
