Arabic texts  and IBooks?!

Arabic books do not work on IBooks. any clue how to make IBooks read Arabic texts?!

Are you creating a book yourself or talking about using the iBooks app to read a book you bought somewhere?  If the latter, what is the name of the book, and what doesn't work.
For the iBookstore Apple requires Arabic books to be in epub3 format and it could be they are not yet accepting them even when done that way.

  • Arabic Text and Fonts sucks on 10.3

    Hello Everyone;
    I'm not sure if someone can assit us with this, but Arabic fonts on 10.3 are so bad. It used to be perfect with the old version 10.2 and 10.2.1. The text fronts looks like the old Android fronts. Is there a way to change it on 10.3 to look and feel like the old 10.2?
    If you would like to see how they look like please check the attached link:

    I have taken these concerns to our development team and hope that there will be a change to the Arabic text in future versions of our software. I do not speak or write in Arabic, but can appreciate your concerns.

  • HT4637 Hi, does it support Arabic language; text and numerals?

    I have just purchased a macbook pro, first time to switch from a PC. I am really impressed wirh the overall experience of my new powerhouse with one MAJOR drawback; the Arabic Text and numeral support within the microsoft office package of applicatIons. I tried the openoffice package, and althought it partially solved the problem, yet I still suffer from compatability issues, be it with old microsoft office files that I already have or even newly created ones. So i figured maybe I should turn to Apple's native software packages,since I know that the laptop itself supports Arabic, so then maybe the problem would be inherant to the microsoft for Mac. Can anyone help me whether this assumption is true or not, and which spread sheet and text editor software should I choose to have full and compatible support for Arabic text and numerals typing. Thx

    No version of MS Word for OS X has ever supported Arabic.
    Unfortunately Apple's iWork apps also have bugs that make them unsuitable for Arabic for most people.
    The best text editor is Mellel, but TextEdit, Nisus Writer, and OpenOffice normally work OK.
    As for compatibility with Windows stuff, perfection sometimes just not possible, and if you really need that, you may need to run Windows on your Mac.

  • How to print Arabic text along with the English in smartform ( ECC6 version

    Hi All,
    our is ECC6 version, Non unicode, ABAP stack ( not dual stack )
    is it possible to print in Arabic language in the above version ?
    if yes, then please let me know how to print Arabic text and English text in the same smartfrom.
    i tried in the following procedures :
    1) i created standard text (SO10) in arabic language.
    i called in the smartform ( include text - i )
    langage AR
    but system throws error message saying, required language is not installed.
    2) if i use READ_TEXT function module.
    text getting printed in diff format but not in arabic.
    waiting for your replies..

    ECC6 and Non-Unicode? I think you'll need multiple code pages, I doubt there's a mixed Arabic/Latin1 available. And I don't think SAP supports new MDMP systems any more. If you need to support multiple languages you really need to go Unicode. It's probably easier to do the Unicode conversion than to try to support multiple code pages and you have to make the switch eventually.

  • Arabic Text in TextInput in Flash Builder 4.5.1

    Hello,
    I am currently developing a mobile application that is supposed to work on both Android and iOS devices. I am supposed to display arabic text and also to take arabic text input from the user. While I was trying to display simple output and input components I faced a problem with the TextInput. Please note the following:
    -The TextInput component displays the arabic text in reversed order and the characters are disjoint.
    -The label component does not have this problem and it accepts and displays the arabic text correctly.
    -An embedded font was added
    -The problem exists on both IPad and Galaxy Tab however the IPad displays the text correctly while typing (before loosing the focus on the TextInput). On the other hand, the Galaxy Tab displays the text in a wrong way both while typing and on focus out. However, the suggested words (above the keyboard in the Galaxy tab) are shown correctly.
    Please check the snapshots below.
    From Ipad:
    Thank you.

    Here's the solution:
    The problem did not exist on an installation of Flash Builder on a spare MacBookPro.
    On my main computer (the one with the Flash Builder issue) I uninstalled and reinstalled Flash Builder 4.5 (then updated to 4.5.1). Creating an iOS Mobile Application now creates the correct code.
    I have no idea why it was creating dodgy code.
    The only difference with the new Flash Builder install is that SourceMate 3.0 is not installed yet. Perhaps something had gone wrong in the Adobe Updater when going from 4.5 to 4.5.1, who know...all speculation...anyhow it works now!

  • Arabic Text in Forms not proper

    Hi Gurus,
    I have an requirement to print standard forms for Sale order confirmation and Delivery note in Arabic. The Print preview i am getting shows the arabic text as alphabet by alphabet translation in forms for the arabic texts and whereas when i check the abap list display it shows proper arabic description.
    I mean the customer name for eg. is not in proper arabic (Which is maintianed in table as Arabic text form only) whereas in the abap list display it is coming absolutely correctly.
    Please advise.
    Regards,
    Venket

    Hi
    Use the concept of text module, and assign text module to text fields. and give the condition that if language is arabic than text module will be executed.
    i  did in adobe forms , you can find that one in **************** , click on tutorials , click on adobe forms and select with use of text modules.

  • Get a Arabic text bold in a basic RichText control

    Maybe a very silly question, but I'm searching for a solution many days now and maybe someone had the same issue.
    I have a basic Arabic text and put in a Flex RichText control with this line:
    public override function set text( value:String ):void
         this.textFlow = TextFlowUtil.importFromString( value );
         // this.textFlow = TextConverter.importToFlow( value, TextConverter.TEXT_FIELD_HTML_FORMAT );
    In a CSS file I tell the application to make all the text bold for this RichText control. And the strange thing that happens is that a "normal" english text appears bold and the arabic text stays the same as if the font-weight was set to normal.
    Can someone please help me?

    Nothing to do with CSS.
    On windows I have AdobeArabic-Regular and AdobeArabic-Bold installed.
    This markup gives me bold text.  I use the textLine.dump() method to see what font player has actually chosen.
    <span fontFamily="Adobe Arabic" fontWeight="bold">
    If I remove AdobeArabic-Bold and render the same markup FlashPlayer does a fallback looking for some appropriate bold font that has Arabic.  If it can't find it bold text is not rendered.
    Hope that helps,
    Richard

  • Arabic text shows junk in database character set

    Hi,
    Workion EBS Ver11.5.0
    NLS_CHARACTERSET :AR8ISO8859P6
    NLS_LANG : AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1
    i have a trial balance report, in that description text is displaying like this ????? ??? ?????? - ???? ????? ???
    to rectify this, what steps should i do to display in arabic text and it should support both arabic and english.
    could anyone please help me in this.
    Thanks and Regards
    Khaleel

    First you should make sure your client machine is able to display arabic data.
    Second you likely need to change NLS_LANG character set part to the right character set, possibly AR8ISO8859P6 or another character set compatible with your database character set.
    Please read carefully OTN NLS_FAQ http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/globalization/htdocs/nls_lang%20faq.htm.
    If you are working with Oracle E-Businees Suite, there may be some additional rules to configure application server to display correctly arabic data.

  • Layout in Arabic, Russian and Chinese. Exporting text from a PDF

    I am laying out long documents in Arabic, Russian and Chinese. The text has been provided as a PDF when I copy and paste this into Indesign it comes up as boxes question marks and other characters having nothing to do with the text I am trying to layout.  I have set the typeface to the Myriad Arabic and the Arabic dictionary still nothing resembling Arabic or any language for that matter. Same with Chinese and Russian. Any suggestions on how to get the text in from the PDF where it is the actual language. Appreciate any help with this.  Thank you.

    Thanks for the callout, Ellis
    Soooo, KK: you are in for a world of hurt. The intials "WP" at the beginning of these fonts means that the text came out of WordPerfect. Doing multilingual layouts in WP was annoying, but possible. It was developed in the pre-Unicode world where every single method of complex-script layout was a dirty hack. If you like knowing All of the Nerdy Dirty Details, I can tell you how it worked, but suffice it to say that trying to harvest non-Latin-script text from WP and repurpose it for use in InDesign is just pure pain. The WordPerfect-specific codepages were never really supported anywhere outside of WP.
    That being said, I have a script laying around somewhere for conversion of WP-Cyrillic into Unicode. (Actually, I think it does Windows CP 1251, but that works just as well.) But that is only one out of forty-five languages? And the Chinese has been rasterized? And the PDFs were originally generated by Distiller 3? If you have any choice, it's time to walk away. If you don't have any choice, I really hope you are billing hourly. My experience in this area (painfully extensive) is that it will cost three to five times as much to extract the text as it would to have a translation professional rekey the text, and then to have a second translation professional review the rekeyed text looking for typos.
    Russian OCR is pretty damn good these days, but Chinese OCR is hit-or-miss. I have never seen good Arabic OCR - doesn't mean it's not out there, but I couldn't help you find it.  But chances that all 45 languages have reliable OCR available, and that the result of said OCRing will not need to be reviewed by someone who knows the language, are basically nil.

  • Copying and pasting Arabic text in InDesign CS4 ME

    We have an arabic document in pdf and word formats and we have InDesign CS4 ME and we are trying to copy and paste text from the pdf/word document but the font isn't transferring, there is nothing only boxes. We have turned on the arabic keyboard and that didnt help either. Working on a mac.
    Can anyone help us? What is the solution?

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    We have turned on the arabic keyboard and that didnt help either.
    Well, why should it. Unless you are typing Arabic, that won't do anything at all. Copy-and-paste is not typing.
    If copy-and-paste does not copy the font along so you get the pinky squares in InDesign, it only means that your default InDesign font does not support those characters. Select your text and then choose another font -- one you are sure of contains Arabic.
    If you still get pink squares, it's more likely the text in the PDF is not encoded properly, and in that case no-one can't help you -- but it ought to work directly from Word.
