  • Handling Non English language characters in PDF output

    Hi All,
    We have a requirement wherein we have to display an existing Smartform output in a PDF format.
    We have used OTF to PDF conversion and displayed the PDF output in a container.
    The issue is if certain characters are of non english language then the PDF is displaying these characters as special symbols.
    The following string is getting dispalyed in the SmartForm as follows:
    ОРЕНБУРГАВТОРЕМСЕРВИС_
    The same string is displayed as follows in the PDF form :
    Any pointers on how to handle such cases would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    regards
    Chaitanya

    Before calling the smartform, use the FM 'SSF_GET_DEVICE_TYPE' and get  the device type based on the language.
    For eg:
      CALL FUNCTION 'SSF_GET_DEVICE_TYPE'
        EXPORTING
          i_language = l_langu
        IMPORTING
          e_devtype  = lwa_output_options-tdprinter.
    Then you need to build the other control parameters like this:
    Build control parameters.
      lwa_control_parameters-getotf  = c_charx.
      lwa_control_parameters-device = 'PRINTER'.
      lwa_control_parameters-preview = ''.
      lwa_control_parameters-no_dialog = c_charx.
      lwa_output_options-tddest = 'LOCL'.
    Pass this lwa_output_options & lwa_control_parameters to output_options & control_parameters respectively in the Smartform FM.
    This should ideally solve this issue.

  • Sapscript and Standard Text - Polish Characters not printing

    Hi,
    I have created an English Sapscript and translated it to Polish via transaction SE76.
    Changing my PC Region and Language settings to Polish allowed me to enter Polish Characters into Hardcoded text in the Sapscript and Standard Text via s010.
    I have two problems:
    1) With my PC Region and Language settings set to Polish, when I create my sapscript output some of the polish characters that I have entered via SE76 and SO10 do not appear and are replaced by others e.g.
    ę is dispalyed as ê
    ć is displayed as æ
    ń is displazed as #
    2) I have a business requirement to be in England Logged with PC Region and Language set to English but to print a sapscript output in Polish. Is this possible.
    We are currently on non unicode SAP system.
    Please can anyone advise.
    Regards

    Hello,
    SAP discourages mixed code page or MDMP systems and with good reason. If there is any possibility of you upgrading to a Unicode system in the near future you should try to wait for it. Supporting multiple languages in Unicode is easy, in MDMP it can be quite tricky. And MDMP makes the move to Unicode more difficult.
    That said, your BASIS team can enable Polish and you can print in Polish while your PC is set for English. The SAPScript/Form must be in Polish or using an INCLUDE that is LANGUAGE 'PL' to let SAP know which code page to use when printing.
    Seriously, look at moving to Unicode, you need to do it eventually anyways.

  • Preventing Password Characters from being Displayed

    I know this question has been asked and answered about a billion times but I can't seem to find any definitive answer as to how it will be addressed or if there are any plans to address it in the future.
    We all know that when an iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch user is prompted for a password (AppleID, enterprise, web site, etc) that the characters are displayed before being concealed by a black dot. Again, arguing over how ridiculous of a design flaw this is, at this point, completely moot. However, does anyone from Apple have an answer as to what will be or can be done in the future?
    My situation is this: I am an IT administrator in a private Jesuit school. Nearly all of our faculty have been given iPads and we have installed AppleTVs and new projectors in all of our classrooms for the faculty to mirror content on their iPads rather than using a desktop PC (we're trying to phase desktops out of the enterprise except for labs and work areas).
    All faculty using iPads have been briefed on this situation and we've had very few occurences of passwords being compromised. However, even the most vigilant educator slips up and, just today, it was determined that one of our teachers' test banks (which resides on the teacher's network home share) was accessed by a student who saw his password during an iPad mirroring session. The student copied tests and distributed them to his classmates.
    Besides venting a little and looking for some sort of solution, what I would like to know is Apple plans on addressing this in the next version of the IOS. Frankly, for the inroads that Apple has made into the classroom and enterprise with iPads, there appears to be very little thought given to how little things like password security and AppleID/iPad provisioning and the difficulty managing these things can affect an institution's decision to introduce a device that holds so much promise.
    Any case, if anyone at apple is listening, I VOTE THAT YOU OFFER SOME WAY TO CONCEAL PASSWORDS WHILE THEY ARE TYPED INTO THE PASSWORD FIELD (this can be configured as an option on Android devices, not sure why Apple can't do it).

    No sorry,  The only way I can think of would require modifying the iOS itself.  Unless you can find a password management app that would allow copying and pasting without showing the characters.  I use mSecure, and with that one can paste-to-clipboard a password without actually displaying the password.  As long as the app you are pasting the password into supports hidden password characters, you can paste the password into the field without it every dispalying any characters.  It works that way at least with the apps I use (banking/financial apps, for example).
    The onle issue with mSecure is that if you tap a bit too far to the left of the "copy to clipboard", you will display the password.  But there are lots of password manager apps in the app store, so I'm not saying msecure is the only or even the best option.

    I want thai character also to be displayed correctly for REGULAR font style.

  • Dispaly operators in JSF dropDown

    Hi ,
    There is a requirement in my project to add and delete a row onclick of a button.
    Each row has a drop down which displays ("<",">","<=",">=") operators.
    When i am using the below HTML code for displaying dropdowns ,add and delete functionalities working fine..
    <select name="select13" class="TextBlackNormal">
    <option>></option>
    <option><</option>
    <option>>=</option>
    <option><=</option>
    </select>
    But in case of JSF dropdown tag,add and delete fucntionalites are not working onclick of a button.But it displays the dropdown List.
    <h:selectOneMenu value="#{ruleBlock.priceRangeFromOperator}">
    <f:selectItems value="#{PriceVarianceRuleBean.priceRangeOpeList}"/>
    </h:selectOneMenu>
    I configured the priceRangeOpeList as
    priceRangeOpeList.add(new SelectItem("<","<","<"));
    priceRangeOpeList.add(new SelectItem(">",">",">"));
    Add and delete functionlaites are working fine if i use below configuration for the drop down.but the the values in the drop down are dispalyed as (>,< like this instead of < , >).So i think the problem is with the operators.Can you please tell me how to display these opearators in the dropdown.
    priceRangeOpeList=new ArrayList();
    priceRangeOpeList.add(new SelectItem(">",">",">"));
    priceRangeOpeList.add(new SelectItem("<","<",">"));
    Thanks

    You should use HTML entities for reserved HTML characters. The < denotes the start of a HTML tag and the > the end, you do understand?
    Instead of < use <
    Instead of > use &gt;
    Instead of " use &quot;
    Instead of ' use &apos;
    Instead of & use &amp;
    Also see [http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_entities.asp]
    You can escape them "automagically" when using <h:outputText> or <c:out>.

    Assuming that you can already type and display Japanese characters on your platform. In terms of db storage, you need to create a database using a character set that can stored Japanese characters such as JA16SJIS, JA16EUC, UTF8, AL32UTF8 etc. Next you need to set your NLS_LANG to the character set on your client platform, so that Oracle can convert between the client and database character sets.

  • Problem while reading Characters from Vacuum fluorescent Display(VFD) of DVD using OCR

    Hi,
    Happy New Year!!!!
    I am using PXI-1409 card to read the Vacuum fluorescent Dispaly(VFD) of a DVD using an analog CCD camera. Pl. see the attached bmp file. My objective is to recognize all the characters in the first line(CD 0:02 MP3"), IInd line (SHUFFLE REPEAT DISC) and the third line(SHUFFLE REPEAT DISC) including as many no. of spaces in between. My program has to automatically locate all the three lines. I have trained an OCR file to read all the possible characters many times. Also I have set the acceptance level as 720 and theshold limits (40-255), Read Resolution as Low and other various settings in OCR file. I am able to read all the characters 90% of the time but sometimes I am not able to recognize the right characters, for e.g it reads
    H as M
    or M as N
    or zero as 'O'
    or F as P etc. I have trained all the characters more than one time. I want my program to be 100% reliable and repeatable. I have tried all the methods to obtain it but still it not 100% perfect.
    Kindly suggest the best method to obtain it.
    Thanx in advance.

  • Grouping and Decimal characters in rtf templates.

    Hi guys and girls,
    I’m really struggling with a problem here regarding the decimal characters for the prices in my output.
    I'm using XML Publisher 5.6.3.
    My goal is to control the grouping and decimal character from my template.
    The numbers in the XML data file can either be 10.000,00 or 10,000.00. The format is handled by the users nls_numeric_characters profile option.
    The output of the template shall be based on the locale and not the data generated by Oracle Reports. For example: Reports to US customers shall show the numbers in the following format 10,000.00. Reports to our European customers shall show the numbers in this format 10.000,00.
    How can I achieve this in my templates? Can it be achieved at all?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
    Thank you for your reply.
    The problem is that the report is generating the output based on the users profile option nls_numeric_characters.
    I have tried to override the users profile option in the before report trigger without any luck. I can alter selects so the query gets the numbers in the right format but then I would have to go through all queryes and reports which seem a bit wrong? Especially for the standard Oracle reports.

    How do I goto out look to change mail format

    smercurio_fc wrote:
    Then it sounds to me like this other application is not decoding the attachment correctly, especially if you looked at the attachment yourself after you received it and verified it's correct.
    No, no, smercurio. This is charcter encoding here. In older versions of LabVIEW you could specify what character encoding to use when sending an email through the SMTP VIs. But that gave problems since people in certain locales used certain characters that where not transfered right when the wrong encoding was specified, and that encoding stuff is not understood by most people at all, so the wrong selected encoding was rather the rule than the exception. In newer versions of LabVIEW do the SMTP VIs handle the encoding automatically based on the currently used locale on the system.
    This change is documented in the Upgrade Notes of LabVIEW and probably happened around LabVIEW 7.1 or 8.0.
    A decent mail client will recognize the encoding and convert it back to whatever is necessary before presenting it to the user. The OPs posters server application obviously isn't a smart mail client but probably just some crude text file parser that has no notion of proper mail character encoding and how to deal with it.
    I would suppose that there is a chance to dig into the SMTP VIs itself and try to manipulate or disable that encoding altogether in there but that may open a whole can of worms somewhere else. The proper way would be to process the incoming mail by a character encoding aware mail client before passing it to the text parser. On Unix setting up something like this would be fairly trivial.
