Arabischer Text aus Word – importiert in InDesign CC 2014

Hallo, ich muss arabischen Text in ein InDesign-Layout importieren. Was muss ich beachten? Geht es überhaupt? Hat jemand von Euch schon Erfahrungen damit gemacht?

Gehe in die Creative Cloud Anwendung, Voreinstellungen. Dort änderst Du die Sprache auf Englisch mit arabischen Support und installierst Dir InDesign. (Du kannst auch danach noch andere Sprachen wie Hebräisch oder so ändern und installieren.) Dann änderst Du die Anwendung wieder auf die ursprüngliche Sprache. Dann kannst Du InDesign starten. Mit der Installation anderer Sprachen wurden in das Programm weitere Plugins installiert, die den Funktionsumfang von InDesign erweitern.
Wenn mehrere Sprachen installiert sind, wählt InDesign, soweit vorhanden, die Sprache des Betriebssystem beim Programmstart aus. Aber das macht nichts, auch in deutsch erscheinen jetzt Funktionen, wie Bindung bei bei neuem Dokument, RTL und LTR-Text-Funktionen in vielen Menüs und Formaten und vieles mehr.

    Why don't you try File > Place and place the .doc file? (Probably not too many Word experts in an Adobe forum.)

    Unless I'm mistaken, ... and because I use 2 scripts [1 then 2] of very clever and prolific Peter Kahrel, I work with only one story! All the endnotes appear at the end of the book and they are always dynamic: if I add or delete one (call + text), they automatically renumber! Cool!

  • Missing content exporting from InDesign CC 2014 to Flash Pro CC 2014

    Dear all,
    to produce a larger number of similar animated swf's, I wanted to create all necessary text and graphic layers in InDesign CC 2014, then export as *.fla to Flash Pro CC 2014 for "bulk" animation.
    Finally it should then just be a case of selecting the correct layers and publishing.
    The problem: When exporting from InDesign to Flash, all layers are recognized but initially apart from the text layers they were shown as empty items without the content.
    Rescaling the placed images in InDesign to be no larger than the final document helped to now also have the images when opening the exported *.fla in Flash.
    I am still missing all other InDesign objects though, e.g. even a simple colored rectangular will not show in Flash.
    Any help to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated. Searching for it only brought up a couple of tutorials that do not seem to have this issue.

    I think that it's just a bug in InDesign. It happens with CS6 as well.

    When I import text from Word to Indesign I want to preserve the Italic and semi-bold but nothing else.
    The Indesign document has a template set up with ipsum text styled with semi-bold and normal text as well as a character style for the italic.
    When I paste the text into InDesign I want the ital and semi-bold to translate into the already styled text frame with no other formatting from Word.
    As there will be hundreds of text frames like this I want the ital etc to automatically translate. I also need to paste text over these templated text frames (see attached.

    That's fine. Everybody has their own preferences. I find it odd that you feel the need to criticize mine. Personally, I've been a Prepress Tech for 25 years, the last 15 in a digital environment on Mac Workstations. I work with live fonts and outlined text every day. I've had way more headaches with font substitution and reflow than I've ever had with vector art. Most of the time, I leave live text as live text. But if I'm designing a Logo or art that is intended to be placed in multiple documents and probably scaled, I'm going to convert it to paths. Much less chance of the RIP screwing it up that way.
    Your answer to OPs question was spot on. So was mine. There is rarely only one right way to create something in Illustrator. If you don't care for my methods, then don't use them. But let me assure you, I don't need any schooling from you. The fact that you seem compelled to engage me on this may say something about your personality. Micro-manage much?

  • Auotmating Text from Word into InDesign

    Here is my situation: I am the graphic artist and layout person for the company that I work for.  We produce layouts that have a pretty consistent format.   Each layout has definite text sections.  These text sections are written by the research editor and put into a single word document.  I then have to copy and past the various text sections into the layout in InDesign.
    I know that if my Research Editors worked in InCopy it would elminate the need for me to copy and paste the text from word doc into the the layout document.  The problem is that one of the editors is a contract worker that is outside the office.
    I was wondering if there was some way to set up a template in word.  The idea would be that once the document is finished it could be imported into InDesign in a way that it would automatically populate the the text sections in the layout.

    Well you know what I mean, by copy and paste.  I place the text in first to preserve the formatting.
    This seems backwards, to me. Is the "formatting" in the Word document based on styles? If it is, you can map your InDesign styles to your Word styles on import. If it's not, then I find it much faster to change the formatting into styles immediately upon import.
    If you're not using any defined styles at all in your InDesign document, then yeah, I guess that copying and pasting is faster and a better way to preserve the manually applied formatting in Word. But why do that, when using well-defined styles in ID can be significantly faster?

    Is there anyway to copy and paste text from MS Word 2011 into InDesign CS5.5 and have it retain the original formatting? Each time I try to copy and paste content from MS Word, even into a text box, all the bolding and italics are lost. I've tried to troubleshoot this on the forum but can't seem to find a relevant thread. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've spend a fair amount of time trying to figure out this issue.

    In the preferences you can choose to retain formatting when pasting from other applications. See screen shot.

    I have a problem when working with indesign CC. When i'm copying text from word to Indesign, after a while my windows system freezes. Only Indesign works. Windows and word are frozen. After a while (several minutes) the system works agian.
    This problem occurs sinc I have Indesign CC.
    Windows 8, indesign CC, Word 2013
    I hope someone has a solution.

    It's the PDF.
    Usually, you can copy text out of a PDF, but there is no guarantee *at all*. Older software used to take shortcuts to subset fonts: first character it encountered got coded as #1, the next as #2, etc. etc. If you do a search & replace of each of the nonsense characters, you'll slowly see the original text appearing (thst's not as simple as it sounds, though).
    A similar "problem" is that sometimes spaces don't get copied (there is no need for a "Space Character" in a PDF), and that you cannot copy contiguous lines of text as a single paragraph. All of it is because a PDF is not intended nor designed to be re-used after creation.
    If you really need this text and don't want to type it in, try to get hold of the original file.

    Whenever I copy/paste from web or Word it removes the hyperlinks.  And when I try to do it by "Place"ing a Word document into my InDesign project it keeps the formatting with it, the rectangles around the text.
    I have the latest version of InDesign.
    Any help is appreciated. 

    Copy-and-paste may not include formatting. A regular import using Place is the best way.
    The rectangles around the hyperlinks are just to indicate they are links -- they do not print, but they do show up in your PDF.
    You can remove them by double-clicking the hyperlink in the Hyperlinks panel and select "Invisible Rectangle" as type.
    Typically, Word hyperlinks are formatted -- blue text, underline -- with a Character Style. If you want to remove or change the formatting, all you have to do is change the character style. My experience, though, is you must check all hyperlinks because for no apparent reason sometimes they appear in the document without the character style.

    Die Bringschuld liegt nur darin, es verständlich zu erklären. Leider wurde Ihr zweiter Versuch nicht besser.
    Ich frage mich z. B. wieso die Fußnoten nicht am Ende des Textrahmens in Indesign sein dürfen? Stellen Sie sich eine Word-Seite im Sinne von Indesign vor. Da hat es immer einen Textrahmen, der so hoch ist wie die ganzen Seite, abzüglich der Ränder. Da sind Fußnoten immer ganz unten, wie bei Indesign. Also ist es 1:1. Was ist daran falsch?
    Nur, daß bei Indesign der Rahmen innerhalb der Seite immer veränderlich ist und man bei Word dafür einen extra Textrahmen erstellen müßte.
    Sie wollen die Fußnoten nun loswerden, sonst würden Sie sie nicht löschen. Das Loswerden macht man nicht, indem man die Fußnote selbst löscht, sondern den Index im Text. Sind alle Fußnoten weg, ist auch der Platzhalter weg. Habe ich eben mal probiert, geht einwandfrei.
    Die Fußnoten in einen anderen Textrahmen zu verlagern geht nicht. Dazu müßte man Fußnoten nachbilden.
    Weiterhin kann man Fußnoten direkt beim Plazieren des Word-Doks ausblenden, indem man den erweiterten Importdialog aktiviert und dort Einstellungen vornimmt.

    wir sollen für einen Kunden eine mehrsprachige Zeitschrift setzen, u.a. auch in arabisch. Nun werden arabische Texte ja von rechts nach links gelesen.
    Wenn ich einen arabischen Text nun in Indesign importiere, wird die Reihenfolge der Wörter umgekehrt: Was am Satzende stehen sollte, steht in meinem Layout plötzlich am Satzanfang.
    Aus unterschiedlichen Quellen habe ich nun gehört, dass das nur mit einer entsprechenden Middle-East-Version von Indesign funktionieren würde.
    Ist das richtig? Und wo und wie könnte ich an diese Version gelangen?
    Gibt es nicht vielleicht auch die Möglichkeit eines Plug-ins als Erweiterung?
    Über eine kurzfristige Rückmeldung Ihrerseits wäre ich sehr dankbar!

    Ich habe es gerade durchgetestet: Wenn auf einem Gerät, bei der CC die unterschiedlichen Sprachversionen installiert werden, dann stehen die Funktionen für ME oder Asien auch in der deutschen Version zur Verfügung. Das verändert die Dialogboxen, weil neue Funktionen hinzugefügt werden und zusätzlich gibt es neue Dialogboxen und Menus.

  • Can no longer import Word files into InDesign

    For many months I have been importing Word files into InDesign CS3 (Mac OSX 10.4.11) with no trouble, but I started having a problem yesterday.
    When importing a 17-page Word file with 16 footnotes, I got none of the text and only the footnote numbers. This is what I get in InDesign:

    These are the things I've tried already: restarting, deleting preferences, changing the import options, using CS2, importing someone else's Word file, importing a Word file that I imported successfully a couple of months ago. None of this works.
    It has been suggested that I save the Word file as rtf, but since I have 200 files to import and I'm using Word's character styles for italics, bold, small caps, etc., I'd rather try to fix this problem.
    Can someone help?

    I am using indesign CS2 and i'm trying to import a Word document into a new chapter for a book i'm laying out. it's about 30 pages, but there are at least 80 foot notes. i'm able to get about 1/2 of the document with the footnotes to flow correctly, then EVERYTHING disappears. the only way i've been able to get the remaining text to appear is by adding characters to the text. i'll hit "vvvvvvvvvvvv" a bunch of times and "magically" a little chunk of text and it's footnotes appears. then the ole disappearing act happens. so i do it again. i'm able to get all the text to appear finally, but when i delete the "vvvvvvvvvv" from the places i inserted them, the text disappears again. i have no idea why this is happening or how to fix it. any ideas?

    Your line breaks will most likely be incorrect if you don't turn on the Japanese Composer.
    It is almost absolutely impossible to accomplish your goal without having a font - any font - installed on your system that has that glyph. However, if it's showing up in Word, than means that you must have that glyph installed, right? What font are you trying to use in InDesign? You might already know that Word will auto-substitute fonts when it encounters a missing glyph, so we really don't know what font is being used to render that one glyph. The whole sentence might be in MS Mincho but one glyph might be pulled from another font if MS Mincho doesn't have that glyph.
    That being said, you're going to break it if you don't know how to set Japanese type in ID. It's not something where you can just copy text out of email and paste into your English layout.

  • Automatic update from Word source into Indesign

    Hi I have followed all threats and cannot seem to find a solution to my query.
    I have to complete a 280page annual report within a very short period of time. Based on the client it seems that there will be multiple changes on content after layout is completed. Is it possible to import the Word docuement into Indesign and when the client makes changes in the original Word docuement the changes are affected directly in Indesign?
    I had a look at the XML options and discussions but being a lyout designer the explenations of tags etc mean zero.
    Obvioulsy I would re-edit stylesheets and layout styles in Indesign but would ideally then like to export the content / link the content to the original file so that the client can make changes in Word and I do not have to manually re-layout pages or make changes from proofs.
    Please can someone indicate whether this is at all possible and wether you have to have knowledge of scriptig etc should it be possible.

    In the Preferences, you can select to treat a placed Text document just like an image: you get a link in your Links palette, and if the original file is modified, you can "update" it just like an images.
    However: the text will re-import just like it did the very first time -- including the formatting of the text. If you formatted the text in InDesign, that will be lost. A very rigid workflow is the solution in that case: if your editor uses Word Styles, and he did so consequent and correct, you can automatically have them mapped to your styles in the InDesign document. You can actually help your editor getting the good styles by exporting your text to RTF, so he can work on it and then return the document.
    Try before you fly.
