Arch as a VirtualBox guest: what specific Guest Additions to use?

I have installed Arch on VirtualBox PUEL 3.2.10 r66523.
I have tried to follow this wiki page. But the links to the new version(s) of guestadditions do not work any more. Plus, that particular version does not seem to be any newer than the current vanilla one that comes with the latest VirtualBox (am I wrong?).
So, I'm using the regular guestadditions and they do not provide the promised functionality.
Could you give me a hint in the right direction?
Thanks for reading this.

My last post above was a mistake.
After rebooting (for another reason) both my virtual machine (Arch) and my host (Slackware), all the features from the additions run flawlessly.
I must have done something else (like disabling the GuestAdditions CD on the guest maybe?) because simple rebooting of the guest did not finalize the install of the additions. I also ran the installation scripts individually, according to the latest version of the manual (apparently it was not required on previous versions).
In any case, for the ones reading this thread, at this point GUESTADDITIONS FOR ARCH AS A GUEST DO WORK.
My apologies for my previous post above.

i have vbox running on vista, and arch as a guest.
it works fine and dandy, fast and everything.
now...how do i install the additions so i can get the mouse and shared folders working?
    thanks.

AFAIK the packages in community only seem to be for running arch as the host, rather than as the guest.  the guest additions is only the ISO, rather than the modules i need to load.
i tried the /etc/slackware-version, but nothing gets put in rc.d or anything

  • How can i do to see what my guest/visitor are doing in my wifi?

I monitor what my guests on my wifi network.

Please look on the side of the box and give us the model number but if it is the newest Extreme.. you are pretty well out of luck.
Your guests on the network can be uploading and downloading and whatever without your knowledge.. and the apple router has nothing except time of access to control them. If it is important for you to control your guests .. you will need to use the main modem if that is also a router.. or you will need to replace the Airport with a router that actually has information.
Perhaps tell us what you are trying to control??

    Right-click GuestOnly and select "Modify"
Change Value data from "0" to "1" and click ok.

  • Installation of Arch (64) in VirtualBox, issues with Xorg

    Hi friends,
I want to install Arch (64) in VirtualBox, recent versions both.
I did the main installation procedure.
But now I want to install X.
I did "pacman -S xorg", and "Xorg -configure", and copied the newly created xorg-file to /etc/X11. It correctly recognizes "vboxvideo" as the video driver.
Now the problem is this: the first time I do "xinit", it works, but after exiting, and commanding "xinit" again, I get a blank screen and a freeze.
After exiting X the first time, it tells me about problems with DRI and DRM.
(Sorry I can't insert the files here at the moment, because I don't have the Guest Additions installed yet.)
    Hope to hear from you,
    Daniel

Can you please post the error messages it gives you?

No need to type in all caps - we HEAR you!
I would take a look at the internal drives offered by both Crucial (click the link "Internal Hard Drives Now Available") and OWC. I would stay away from Western Digital drives as they seem to have problems on a number of Mac models.
You can also shop for RAM at Crucial and OWC - just select the System Scanner tab at the Crucial website to find out which memory is right for your machine.
    Good luck,

  • SOAP RECEIVER and WSDL-what specifies how my SOAP REQUEST should look like?

    Hi
I am sending a request to a webservice (SOAP RECEIVER) but the webservice in question does not have a wsdl. I have created my own wsdl based on another example but when mapping to the REQUEST part of this and routing it through my SOAP RECEIVER channel it appears that it has NO SOAP-ENV only the pure XML in the request sent to the webservice.
I have UNTICKED the "No SOAP envelope.." so all is pretty basic.
What specifies how the REQUEST sent to the webservice through the SOAP RECEIVER comm channel should look like?
I thought that the SOAP RECEIVER ADAPTER did this automatically, but in my scenariao, it looks as if it something else as well? Is it the XSD or WSDL that dictates how the SOAP REQUEST should look like?
    Cheers

    > I thought that the SOAP RECEIVER ADAPTER did this automatically, but in my scenariao, it looks as if it something else as well? Is it the XSD or WSDL that dictates how the SOAP REQUEST should look like?
No. The SOAP adapter adds the SOAP enveloped, no matter how the WSDL looks like.
I have no idea why this does not work for you. Check whether the channel is active and the cache is refreshed.

  • What specific fields do we map Help

This is scenario 1..these are pretty standard scenario`s...
    R/3  =========> XI ==========> ThirdParty App
              IDOC                   SOAP
    ThirdParty App ==========> XI ===========> R/3
                             SOAP                        IDOC
There is NO ALE name for the third Party App......we were asked to do this by mapping the EDI control record.
Can someone please clarify what specific control records are meant to be mapped for data going both ways. i need specific values here.....!!
    <u>XI system</u>
    Port: sapport1
    RFC destination: port1011
    <u>R/3 system</u>
    Port to XI System: XICLNT011
    RFC destination: XICLNT011
    <u>Third Party J2ee App</u>
    Business System:- tp_j2ee_app_ts
Now that we have all that, can someone tell me for the 2 scenario`s
    1) Idoc to soap towards third party app
What specific control records need to be mapped and what are those values ?
    2) Soap to idoc towards r/3 system
What specific control records need to be mapped and what are those values ?
I would really appreciate and reward specific answers, i have read enough blogs...
    Venkat

    Venkat...Here we go..
1.1) Idoc to soap towards third party app ( But scenario would be R/3 -->XI)
Goto transaction WE20 and create a partner profile for XI system. Create new partner type "LS" with XID..( But make sure you create logical system first for XID  using TC:SALE..Set outbound parameter for your idoc type and message type.
In outbound parameters you need to specify receiver port : Port: sapport1 and RFC destination :  port1011.
Now you are ready to send idoc to XI...
    2. Second Scenario XI --R3.
Again you need to maintain partner type for receiver system using WE20 but for receiver system.
Now login into XI system. Goto transaction IDX1..create xid port: XICLNT011.Assign correponding RFC destination here.
Goto transaction IDX2 and import the metadata of the idoc here..
I think now all is set...you can go ahead n test scenario.
Let me know if you need more details.

  • What specific technology are older macs bluetooth missing that will not allow handoff to work?

What specific technology are older macs bluetooth (that is built in) missing that will not allow handoff to work? Will apple allow people to buy third party bluetooth 4.0 to allow it to work?

Well, with a PPC Mac you can upgrade as far as Firefox 3.6.19 if you upgrade from Tiger OSX 10.3.9 to Leopard OSX 10.5, but Firefox doesn't support PPC architecture in the latest Firefox 4, 5, and 6.0 versions.
    For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4.0 & 5.0, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . <br />
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
But, you still need to carefully investigate if your hardware specs are sufficient for either Firefox 3.6.19 or for 10-4Fox.

    Hi
    FYI.
In Cisco ISE distributed deployment, administration and monitoring activities are centralized, and processing is distributed across the Policy Service nodes. Depending on your performance needs, you can scale your deployment. Each Cisco ISE node in a deployment can assume any of the following personas: Administration, Policy Service, and Monitoring. The Inline Posture node cannot assume any other persona, due to its specialized nature. The Inline Posture node must be a dedicated node.

  • [SOLVED] Arch install on Virtualbox - Host is UEFI

New here and I have a question already lol
I've done some digging and looking around but I haven't found a definitive answer. If I am setting arch up on virtualbox, on my computer, which has an UEFI board do I need to set arch up as uefi or will it just think that it's running on a BIOS machine?
    Last edited by Titus589 (2015-06-12 20:26:57)

That all depends on the settings you give your VM, you can make it virtualize either a BIOS or a UEFI machine irrelevant of the host firmware.
    https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch03.html#efi
I'm not sure if UEFI is still considered experimental or how well it works, as I always just use BIOS mode.

  • What specific type of RAM does the Power Mac 8600/200 take?

What specific type of RAM (Memory) does the Power Macintosh 8600/200 take? If known, where could I get a hard drive for that Power Mac? eBay???? Any help would be gladly appreciated!!
    Thanks,
    Sean Butler

    Sean,
Craig refered to MacGurus. Here is their website:
    http://www.macgurus.com/products/motherboards/mbppc8600.php
You will find valuable information there.
Just a word of caution. If you have G3 memory chips and chips for the 8600/9600 etc. side by side, they will look almost identical but the registration notch is 1/16 of an inch off. Do not force one into the other machine. The real easy way to distinquish the 8600 memory chip is the two odd silicon chips in the middle that are not the same as the other standard RAM chips lined up on either side. They are parity checking chips, if my memory serves me correctly. The G3 memory modules will have identical chips all the way accross.
Be sure and follow the other links like:
    http://www.macgurus.com/products/ram/edodimm.php
for a complete run down on EDO chips.
    Ji˜m
This page shows the G3, PC 100 compliant RAM chip:
    http://www.simmtester.com/page/news/showpubnews.asp?title=Isyour+Memory+Module+PC-100+Compliant%3F&num=28
The chips for the 8600 will have more space in the middle and will have two non-conforming or mismatched chips in the center.
