CR6.4 RC1 - XMP export bug, anybody else has it?
I think I found a bug, and although I also found a workaround, here it is.
My environment: Windows 7, Photoshop CS5, Camera Raw 6.4 RC1, all of them 64-bits.
Steps to reproduce the bug:
1. Open several raw files at once in Camera Raw (in my case, Olympus E-PL2 ORF files, but it probably doesn`t matter). For this bug, take images that are likely to have different white balance settings. Also make sure that those are original files, never modified by Camera Raw (or anything else) and that they have no XMP sidecars yet.
2. Wait until thumbnails are generated (may not be relevant...). Don't click on any of them, just let them be created.
3. Click on "Select All". Again, don't change the displayed image, just select them all.
4. In Basic/White Balance, select Auto. All thumbnails are properly updated
5. Export settings to XMP (from the menu on the right-most toolbar, i.e. still "Basic" if you haven`t changed it)
6. Keep Camera Raw open, and have a look at the XMP files.
The BUG : they all contain the same white balance settings (crs:WhiteBalance, crs:Temperature and crs:Tint) which happen to be the computed settings for the first image (the only one displayed so far). All other settings seems to be fine though (i.e. they are from their respective image).
However, if you go back in Camera Raw and then click on some other images, not all of them. You can see that their WB settings are different and properly computed (as far as "Auto" can properly compute them). Export to XMP again. WB settings are then right, but only for the images that you clicked on. Those that were never displayed full size still have the wrong WB settings (from the first image).
Obviously, the workaround is to click on each of them. Still that's a bit awkward, especially in my "quite-automated" workflow, where I'm not yet to the point to look at each image individually. Can't tell if this bug exist too on any other version of CR, and my E-PL2 raw files can only be opened in CR 6.4 anyway (unless I change some tags to fool CR).
Can anybody can reproduce that bug on similar or different environment? And could Adobe fix it, if it is a bug?btw, don't know why I wrote RC1... I just meant Release Candidate!

Current firefox version : Firefox 4 beta 12
Issue : does not update to RC 1 using the check for update feature.
Background : previously downloaded beta 8 and then it automatically updated to beta 12 using update features but for RC1, it does not.
I know users under Windows platform had same problem but was resolved and they can now update via check for update feature.
Please implement for Linux users too.

I Beta tested up to and including 4.0 RC1 without major problems. However I can not now upgrade to 4.0. Same error message time and again, "need to reboot to complete prior upgrade instalation". I rebooted several times, then tried first removing all previous versions of Firefox using both MS Add/Remove and then iolo System Mechanic, then again downloading 4.0. Even after rebooting same error message. I can not therefore install/use Firefox.
Do a clean (re-)install:
* Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 4.0: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox. -
I have installed two virtual machines(win2k3 32bit and win2k3 64bit ) on Windows Server 2008 RC1 With Hyper-V Technologies (Beta) enterprise. Mouse is getting lost inside VM (using CTRL+ ATL + LEFT ARROW comes mouse control control in host OS).

The problem is that the old mousedriver is hooked to the mouse device class.
To remove this dependency, go into the registry and navigate to the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E96F-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Remove the value msvmmouf from the UpperFilters Regvalue.
Reboot....

So I just installed RC1 of Windows 7 this morning, now my ipod nano(3gen) will not connect. I was aware that in the Win7beta you had to tell it to use your ipod as harddrive to keep it active during sync.
itunes will no longer connect my ipod up(occassionally I will get message about possible corrupt ipod library but I'm not able to do a reformat as itunes will not keep the ipod connected. The display on my ipod just keeps cycling between main menu and connected/disconnectingI installed Windows 7 RC last night as well. I had big problems trying to sync my iPod 5G and iPhone. I'm no help since I'm not sure what I finally did to get it working. All I know is I had to mess around with both for a while to get them working.

WIndows Vista RC1 (No Drivers)
Well, hey there.
I've just installed Windows Vista RC1 (March 2009). It's pretty recent.
I went ahead and installed my Boot Camp drivers, but lo and behold nothing installed. I figured it was a botched installation, formatted that partition, and started again.
So, I have tried once again and I am having all kinds of problems. For some reason I can't change the brightness of my monitor or keyboard (both are max all the time) and much of my hardware is not recognized. (By 'much' I mean 'all'. I manually installed a wireless driver.)
Vista installs smoothly, I go about installing the BootCamp drivers and the installation window itself says it's installing each component, but the device manager isn't changing at all. Everything remains "Generic" & "Unrecognized".
I just want Vista to play some games so I can blow off some steam & to do some 3ds Max stuff for college.
Why is this simple process of installation so difficult?
This Apple business is becoming very stressful very quickly.
What I want is some regular old drivers for my stuff to work, there's nothing unique about the hardware so why is it so awkward and frustrating & difficult to get drivers? At best, can someone maybe tell me what kinds of hardware would be in the late 2008 MacBook Pro & how do I get my brightness adjustments to work?
And also, why don't Apple just have individual drivers for download: Nearly every other manufacturer & vendor does (Dell, HP, Sony, Lenovo, Acer, etc.. They use third party hardware and drivers too).I don't have a MacBook series, and in the folder "Apple" are drivers for various devices.
Try to install directly. If not try using Device Manager to update.
And try running system file checker just for good measure
*sfc /scannow*
and follow that up with hardware check of your boot partition (schedule chkdsk).
Whether you can install Nvidia drivers manually or not, that would help.
And DO create system restore points and backups. -
IPod Mini and Windows Vista RC1
Ok, so I connect my mini to my Vista RC1 machine (FULL PC, not BootCamp), then went to bed. A few minutes later, the mini's screen lights up like I just connected it to the machine, then the main ipod folder opens up like it was set to hard-drive mode. For some reason, the iPod keeps reconnecting to the computer. I can't figure out how to stop it. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried some of the basics such as plugging it into different USB ports on your computer or try a different USB Connector Cable?
Maybe try resetting the device with it connected to your system. To do this, toggle the hold switch on and off, and then press and hold the Menu and Select (Center) buttons together for a few seconds until the Apple logo appears.
Otherwise, I would continue working through the recommend troubleshooting steps provided in this Apple support document.

Error installing SQL Server Management Studio Express on Windows Vista RC1

After installing SQL Server 2005 Express Edition on Windows Vista RC1, I wanted to install also the Managent Studio but I always receive the following error message:

Where can I find more infos about this error-code?

Windows XP x64 RC1 on a RAID-0 array?
Hey all. This is the wrong forum for this post, so technically I'm breaking a rule. But then, there's no right forum for ATI Radeon Xpress motherboard issues, and technically my problem isn't even with that.
I have an MSI RS480M2-IL motherboard, which comes with the SiI 3112A SATA chip. Now I'm trying to install Windows XP 64-bit edition on a striped array done with that chip.
So the first problem was the diskette given by MSI. It's only a 32-bit driver disk. I found out that SiliconImage will hand out drivers for the 3x12 series under the heading of their latest product, the SiI 3512. (Follow this link to see the relevant drivers.) So I managed to get 64-bit drivers that presumably work with the SiI 3112A.
Now when I get through the Windows XP 64 bit RC1 cd, it ends on the note of "Unmountable boot volume" when confronted with the issue.
There may be many things that conspire against me on this. For example, the SATA/RAID controller initializes twice. The first time, if I try to enter its menu, it says that the computer doesn't have any drives. The second time, if I try to enter its menu, it goes fine and shows me my striped array.
Or maybe Western Digital and Page Computers sold me a faulty drive.
Or maybe the driver, which is over a year old, doesn't sufficiently handle the 64-bit architecture of the latest Windows Release Candidate.
Any advice?
Any better forum to put this in?The driver probably pre-dates RC1 build 1289 and does not have the required NTamd64 labels. It will no doubt work for build 1218.
Follow the link on the CD (burned from ISO) to the release notes and you will find instructions on editing the inf file to add the labels. Actually those instructions are not very accurate because they say edit the manufacturer and models sections but some have found (e.g. with nvidia drivers) that you need to leave the existing sections intact and add new sections with the NTamd64 suffix.
You need to do this to the inf file that goes on the F6 floppy. Plus you need to do it to any other drivers or once you've got Windows loaded you can instead edit the registry to delete the inf file verification. -
Installing Windows 7 RC1 with Boot Camp AND Parallels?
I have a 24" iMac (2009 model) and have successfully installing Windows 7 RC1 using Boot Camp. No problems at all and everything is working fine. But now I'm contemplating purchasing Parallels and using Windows 7 in a window.
I just need to know the steps involved and how this works. First I purchase and install Parallels. Then I run it and somehow tell it to use my Boot Camp partition for the VM, right? In this way, I'm assuming I don't actually have to install Windows 7 again or make another partition, right? Once I get the VM installed, then I can either boot to Windows 7 from startup OR boot from within Mac OS using Parallels and it would be the same?
If I can do it this way, can anyone point me to step-by-step instructions on how to choose the right settings in Parallels? I have found instructions for installing Windows 7 using Boot Camp and Parallels separately, but not how to use the Boot Camp install for the VM in Parallels.Wow, it was much easier than I thought it would be! Downloaded the trial of Parallels. Installed it and pointed it to my Boot Camp partition with Windows 7 installed on it. And minutes later, I'm up and running with Windows 7 in Parallels. Sound didn't work at first, but after I did a Windows Update, it installed the correct driver and now everything is working great. I can't believe how smooth this thing runs within Leopard. I allocated 1GB of RAM for WIndows 7 and it's seems fine so far, but I really haven't run any resource-intensive apps yet.

Flash Builder 4.5 + AIR 3.0 RC1 does not output modules to correct location

I'm having some trouble with Flash Builder 4.5 and Flex SDK 4.5.1.21328 with AIR 3.0 RC1. Flash Builder does not appear to compile modules into the location set in the "Edit module" dialog.
The screenshots below show that the output path of a module is set to a specific folder, yet Flash Builder compiles the module into the default sub-folder.

After removing the path the module should compile into the output folder (set to bin/debug), however as the next screenshot shows, the module still compiles into the default sub-folder.

#4. The output folder contains only the main application, with a sub-folder for the module.

There is a workaround - move the module source file into the "Default package" in the package explorer.I experienced this problem today, and kind of "solved" it. There may be an underlying bug, though.
My project compiled fine last Thursday, but I opened it up on Monday (unchanged) and this error showed up in several files. I tried quitting and restarting Flash Builder to no avail. I could not replicate the problem in a new project.
For me, each occurence of the error was at a private function definition, so I thought I would try changing "private" to "public" on one of the functions. The error immediately went away in all 3 locations (not just the one I edited). I then changed it back to "private" with no error.
I hope that will help the Adobe team track down the problem. -
Issue with viewing Package Body in SQL Developer 2.1 RC1
Were anybody able to see the package body of other user in 2.1 RC1.

A box with this error: "there was a problem sending the command to the program" always pops up upon clicking any URL sitting in my desktop (or from any other folder). It will not happen if Firefox is already open. However, it is only an annoyance as the page fully opens with no problem.
It started after I downloaded Firefox 4 beta ver 12. It continued after upgraded with RC1. It did not happen in my latest version of Firefox 3.6.x which I removed after installing 4 RC1This has happened to me many times but on the older FF 3 It could be a small bug, One should list the PC's being used as it could be related?
