Architecture for APEX using iAS 10.1.2 and 10g with Dataguard replication

We are currently using APEX in a stand-alone architecture using iAS 10.1.2 on with 10g as the DB(all on the same server). Our APEX apps are fast becoming a significant part of our production environment and I would like to set up a redundant failover site using Dataguard replication. I am very familiar with the DB failover, but I am struggling with how I can set up iAS on the standby server.
Oracle guidelines for iAS failover using Dataguard (this is not AS Dataguard) specify that the primary and standby server local hostname must be identical for the failover architecture to work unless you use a virtual host name. Due to restrictions in our environment I am not able to set the lcoal hostname the same on the primary and standby servers. As an alternative I installed iAS(10.1.4) using a virtual hostname on my primary server, but it appears that the servername that shows up in all the installation references after the installation is still the actual server name, not the virtual name.
I am looking for guidance from someone that has successfully set up a iAS failover architecture using dataguard on servers that do not have the same local hostname.

If you remeber the password to that Apple ID then follow these steps
1 - Make sure you have an email address that is NOT an Apple ID
2 - Go to AppleID.Apple.com
3 - Where it reads Manage Apple ID - Sign in
Once you are signed in want to make sure the email address you are wanting to use is NOT set up as a "Recovery/Rescue" email for this account.
[To check this - Main page where you see Primary ID - below do you see the email address you want to use listed towards the bottom? Yes - Delete / No - Good ./. If made any adjustments "Save" Next on the left select "Password & Security" - Answer your security questions you set up "if you have any" then scroll towards the bottom and check to see if you see the email address you want to use. Yes - Delete / No - Good] <-> Also you can change your password on this page as well. Any adjustments made "Save"
Once this is done go back to the main page where you should read "Primary ID" and change the email address that is showing to the new email address youo want. "Save" Done

On his phone, sign in Settings>iCloud and enable Mail so that he can have his own email address. Then add your account in Settings>Mail, Contacts & Calendars and enable Contacts and Calendars. They will then appear on his phone alongside any syncing he has set up. This will keep your emails separate, or you can add Mail as well so that you can both access that if you want. You can add his account in the same way on your phone and enable any data types you want to sync.

Fix for the use namespace problems we've been having with ASC (I hope). The problem was that the use directive was being defined after we had called finish package. The UseDirectiveNode has a pkgdef ptr, and does different things depending if that ptr is null or not. It should not be null when the UseDirective is inside the package - but since we were generating the UseDirectiveNode after we had called finishPackage the UseDirectiveNode didn't have it's pkgdef ptr set, and so things went awry as the package didn't get set up with all the correct open namespaces. I haven't tested this in authoring/flex but I am pretty sure that this will fix all the problems we're seeing.

It should be much easier to re-link in the Pagemaker file, as, with any luck, you can get the filenames from the Graphics Manager. After conversion to InDesign, any out-of-date linked images get their names converted to something like "image 123.jpg", and are themselves converted to an embedded low res representation of the image. Even vectored art. Pretty hard to figure them out, unless you are VERY familiar with the file, which you may be.
It may be that any cropping gets lost, too? I do prepress work, we do some set up for our customers, but most comes in pretty much ready to go, so I don't often have to did too deep into fixing such issues. On the other hand, any problem that can happen has probably crossed my desk, or it seems that way some days!

Using get_application_property(CONFIG) in 6i and 10g

for a short time, our application has to run with 6i and 10g at the same time. We have to use the new constant CONFIG also in 6i. How can I mask this constant that it works correctly. Implementing it like this doesn't work:

Unfortunately, I can't set the constant CONFIG directly into get_application_property (what is working properly used directly in 10g) because then I get a compilation error in 6i. Can somebody help me?

Clearly...
co_config CONSTANT NUMBER := 'CONFIG';... won't work because you are assigning a varchar value to a number. CONFIG (without the quotes) is a built-in constant in Forms 10g that has a value of 221. So you could try this (notice there are no single quotes)...
co_config CONSTANT NUMBER := CONFIG;... but I doubt that will compile in 6i as CONFIG won't be defined. So maybe you could use...
co_config CONSTANT NUMBER := 221;It's bad practice to hard-code a value like that though.

Can I use my apple wireless mouse and keyboard with my Mac Mini and Windows PC?

Hello, I recently dug up a windows PC computer for side projects, and I was able to get by using my wireless apple keyboard and mouse for my Mac mini, and then using a usb mouse for my PC, I want to eliminate the usb keyboard and mouse and just use the bluetooth keyboard. Both computers are usually on all the time, and the windows PC uses a bluetooth adapter. I can get my keyboard and mouse to work on both, but I have to sync them to whatever system I would like everytime I want to use it. Is there any solution that when I choose the Mac Mini my keyboard and mouse will work for the Mac mini, and when I choose my windows pc, the keyboard will only be used on windows without having to resync?

Can I use two different Touches (2G and 4G) with different OSs on same comp

I have a 2G 32 GB Touch running OS 3.13, which is just fine. I'm expecting a G4 64 GB Touch to arrive this coming week. I understand that OS 4.1 is already loaded on it.
Will I be able to use both Touches with differing OSs on the same computer? I really have no desire to update the OS on the older Touch as it has worked beautifully for 22 months!

You can have multiple ipods with different os's. For a few minutes I had my 2G at v4.0.1 and my 4G at v4.1.
I've never seen itunes automatically update the os on the ipod so you should be ok.

Hi I have a customer who wants to know if Win XP will be a supported platform for iAS 7.0, if not what will be iPlanet official line for people using iAS 7.0 on Xp.

All information about iAS 7.0 still requires a non-disclosure agreement. So, there isn't an "official line" yet. (iAS 7.0 hasn't even been formally announced yet.)
If you or your client can contact your local sales team and execute an NDA you should be able to find out the planned platform support.

Generating Data for INSERT using a Stored Procedure, Function and Cursor

I've written a function that I finally got to compile, but was not successful in importing and inserting the data needed to populate a table with at least 1800 rows. Here's what I needed to do:

When I executed the main procedure, no data populated the student_table. I've tried several things, but I was not still able to populate the student_fact table (I've been at this for more than a week now, but haven't figured a way to populate the student_facts table with at least 1800 rows). Can you tell me what I need to change (if anything) whether if I need to structure things differently? I'm thinking that I missed something in calling the birth_date into the main procedure or returning the value from either a function or subprocedure. Related to the random final grade -- is there a way to sum the totals of the test scores (each student will have three), and generate a final grade from these values.
I also compiled successfully a package containing this same information, but don't know how to execute it to see whether this approach works.

When Apple Pay arrives in the UK will I be able to pay for things using it even though it will be with my parents cards

At the minute im to young to have a credit card but when it comes to the UK will i be able to buy things using it even if the cards im using are my parents.

I'm not sure how things work over there, but I don't believe you will be able to set up a card that isn't in your name for Apple Pay. If your parents have provided you with a card linked to their account with YOUR name on it, then you should be able to set it up. If it isn't in your name, then you probably won't be able to do that.
