Architecture of mobile solutions

HI All,
I have one basic doubt regarding the architecture.Suppose we want the SRM to be accessible to the users on mobile like iphone and blackberry.
Iphone ---> relay servers ---> SUP 2.0 ---> netweaver gateway ---> Backend i.e. SRM/ERP .
Is SUP compuslory for both offline and online scenario?
Can we do without gateway which i think is not possible as SUP will not understand the data from SAP.

Gateway is unfortunately used 2 times:
1.) Gateway as part of Netweaver as such delivers oData functionality and access to nearly any function module insite SAP.
2.) The component that connects SAP Netweaver MObile and SUP is called Gateway as well - it exists of 2 parts (one on NWM and one on SUP) and the connection is with ESDMA functionality. So for everybody who wonders why NWM7.3 has these ESDMA transactions - that is the reason.
I hear a lot about the end of Netweaver Mobile and so on but if you talk about people insite SAP that have any clue about the development (so do not talk to marketing or sales people) you get a more clear picture. Netweaver Mobile will exist in the future beside SUP. It is a great enhancement to SUP, cause it delivers so much functionality for free that would take ages to develop it in SUP. The often mentioned connection between SUP and NW Mobile is more or less impossible, so even this will not happen. And if you have a look on actual development: NW Mobile 7.3 has ESDMA functionality. You need this to connect NW Mobile to SUP. And the SUP counterpart is now available inside SUP 2.1.1 as available functionality. It was hard up to now to install both features on older releases. So there is development ongoing on both sides of the table and Netweaver Mobile gives you the Enterprise Mobility functionality if it comes to Monitoring, complex DataModel Design or distribution rules.
SUP on the other side is unbeatable if it comes to native app development and all stuff around it.
And if the rumor about the end of Netweaver Mobile would be really true, why on earth would SAP deliver products like CRM or EAM on this complex landscape and not use SUP only?
Well, actually we have so many products inside the SAP world if it comes to mobility (Gateway, SUP, NW Mobile, .... ) that you really need to decide about the best solution for yur problem - before you start with the implementation.

As per my experience, there is no enough Methodology & Tools to test the SAP Mobile solutions landscape. There are scattered documents from SAP, which are neither enough nor sufficient to carry out the different required tests from Unit test till the stress & volume tests before the Go-Live in a reliable way!
I would appreciate it very much if we combine all our experiences to compile a guide about this topic, which we can all share and even continue updating it as SAP guys further develop their Mobile Technology.
I would suggest that this SAP Mobility Solutions Test Guide should contain the main sections:
- Testing NW MI MW server.
- Testing the ECC as a MI backend system
- Critical business processes of the mobile scenario (MAM for example)
- Testing the Mobile Applications on clients devices (MAM, MAU, MTT, )
- Performance tuning tips for all the involved software components
- Performance tuning tips for the all involved servers.
The guide should contain methodologies, tools, reference to SAP documents, sample actual testing results, ...
I would volunteer to compile your feedback into final master document and publish the final guide in SDN for all of us.
If somebody compiled such guide, it would be great if you publish it in the SDN.
Your feedback about this idea and contents for this guide is much appreciated & sure will help all of us to deliver better quality.

We are testing MI for past 1.6 yrs.

Testing NW MI MW server----The entire backend side developed application can be automated(covering many features)
We have been executing few standard test cases and enhancing them.
So can you explain more clearly about what sort of methodologies you are talking about.
We generally analyze customer raised messeges and try to pump in more test cases to cover the features.
May be this is the starting to get more enchaments methodologies to improve MI.
FYI..In Newyork release MI architecture is going to be changed a bit...so can expect better performance(Webdynpro from client side)

And since then, i havent being able to set up more than one email and i subscribed for 4.
I have rebooted\,, sent service books and hard set the phone so many times.
What should i do?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
From your post, I cannot quite tell if you did all of this, in exactly this way. Hence, with a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
3) Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try deleting and re-adding your configurations for the affected email accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.

I can't find ADP Mobile Solutions App when others can; help

several of my employees can find ADP Mobile Solutions App on their phone, but it won't show up on mine. It won't show up on my Apple MacBook computer or Ipad either. Does any know why Apps show up on some phones, but not others?

You need to download and install it... same for your iPad.
FYi... apps that run on an iOS based devices such as the iPhone and iPad cannot run on a Mac. Two different operating systems.

Implementation effort for a Mobile Solution

We are in the very early stages of developing a business case to implement disconnected mobile solutions. Can anyone give me a ball-park estimate in hours to implement Mobile Asset Management with very little customization? Or how long it took your company to implement any of the Mobile Applications?

Bandwidth requirement for a Mobile solution

Hi
Is there any data that I can use to determine the bandwidth requirement needs for a mobile solution? (In a connected mode). Lets assume that we have only 1 user using only one app/screen - mobile sales order. For each sales order, what will be the bandwidth used? Assumption is that the screen is also loaded and data is also transmitted.

Sun Advance Architecture for SAP Solutions

Can there be any benefits of Sun Advance Architecture for SAP Solutions from a functional point of view...i mean..ya..resource utilization will be there...through resource pooling...(typical GRIG Computing)..but other then end users..basis people...can there be any possiblity that a functional guy can cash on from this functionality?

In the (awesome) ingo blog there is: "put sapjco.jar file into the path C:\program files\...\tomcat55\shared\lib\, but i have not shared folder, than before installation i putted sapjco.jar into C:\program files\...\tomcat55\server\lib\ folder..was wrong?

Mobile Solution

I created a new mobile solution. Now how do I get this new work center view assigned to the Mobile work center to make it available to customers that are already using the ByDesign mobile app.
If I try to change the Mobile work center I get a message that I can't change it because it's from another layer (core layer and not partner layer).

Step 1: generate the worcenter with the Prefix MOB in ByD Studio (otherwise it will be ignored from the iPhone player.)
Step 2: assign the workcenter to the user (because of the MOB prefix it will be ignored by Silverlight !!!)
It will now appear as a new workcenter in the iphone player, below the default WoC.
The navigation for the floorplan still needs to be adapted so that the iphone player can render it correctly.
A how to guide is currently being developed. Pls contact me for more infromation.

BBY Mobile Solutions

I recently purchased from the BBY Mobile Solutions site, and I must warn you all that they are not the same as buying from Bestbuy Mobile or the store. I have had tremendous difficulty getting my phones and getting them to work properly, using BBY Mobile Solutions. I also signed up for a plan on their site, but when I received my bill, T-Mobile told me the plan I signed-up for was outdated and they would have to charge me for a higher priced plan. BBY MS told me to read the fine print, and they are allowed to have errors on their site.
Just beware who you deal with online! I'm in contact with the FTC now about this, but I wanted to give you all a headsup.

It's quite difficult from your post to make out what you actually want to implement. Are you deploying the Sybase Mobile Sales for SAP CRM solution?
If yes, have you gone through the "Config Guide" avaialble on the service marketplace under Software Downloads -> Installation & Upgrade Guides -> SAP Components -> SAP Mobile Applications -> Gateway to SAP NetWeaver Mobile?
Do you have any specific issues or questions?

Business Process Modeling for Online Mobile Solutions

Hi,
I like to know what are the options available for business process modeling for online mobile applications? I feel Guided Procedure can be used for that but one issue is the standard GP Runtime view may not be suitable for Mobile displays and needs to be modified. Is there any other option available specifically for mobile solutions? Also I read in one article in SCN about a product call Mobile Fast Track (MFT) which is supposed to be delivered on Visual Composer. Is it already available? If yes which release and how to get that?
Any pointers on these will be highly appreciated.

The product line is the hierarchy of the finished goods.
It is pertinent that the finished goods has emerged due to some process(es) carried on the raw material.
Thus logically you should map in solution manager based on the process only.
The macro process while depicts the processes at the highest level.The Business scenarios, Business Process gives a good idea about how you should go about configuring.The Steps/activities helps you to map in to SAP thro' T/Codes.
From the point of view of all of the below three,namely,
Easy configuration activities
Easy design of Unit and integration test
Easy activities of Process enhancement and optimization,
the option Map the process as ISO Standards
- Several projects : For each product line,will be most ideal.
It is the processes that drives the activities.The control activities like internal control etc are all process based.Given these,divorcing the business process from the configuration -as in -is certainly not a good practice.

Blackberry Pin release problem from Emitac Mobile Solutions LLP

I just bought an old blackberry phone.
Curve 9360
PIN: {REMOVED}
IMEI: {REMOVED}
I want to use the BIS service but the operator just told me that the
PIN is already registered at some different operator and you have to
release the pin from there.
The carrier is Emitac Mobile Solutions LLP.
Please suggest.

You have two possibilities so far as I know.....
Track down last owner, or the owner that had the BIS, have the individual contact the carrier (not yours, the other carrier) and do whatever it takes to get the PIN released.
Figure out the other carrier. Explain the situation. Ask for help.
It's a tall order. I think hope is slim, but who knows.
If the device instead is actually blocked because it was reported stolen at some point, or someone walked out on finishing payments, you have no hope.

Update CSS stylesheet for ITS Mobile solution

Dear all,
for a mobile bar code scanner solution i generated the HTML templates for the LM transactions and published a new ITSMOBILE service. So far everything is working finde.
To fix some smaller style issues on the mobile device i added the parameter ~ITSMOBILECSSINCLUDE and uploaded the corresponding stylesheet in SE80 as a MIME object for the service.
The stylesheet now gets triggered. But I want to do some fine tuning, therefore i changed the stylesheet, saved it and published it and the complete service.
But know the changes visible on the screen. They are visible in SE80 but when i access the stylesheet directly (/sap/public/bc/its/mimes/barcodeservice/99/mystylesheet.css) I only see the version I have uploaded initially.
Is this a bug? Do i have to do anything else after I have published the change file? Any ideas for an workaround?

IP mobility solution for a Data Centers

Hello guys
Please give me an advice.
Now I try to work out a networking solution for a two geo separated data centers (DCs).
Both the data centers will contain a virtualised server infrastructure (VMware).
Now the main design problem is to choose good solution for IP mobility and for the DCs interconnect. We need to have an ability of moving a VM machines both for maintanance and for disaster recovery between the DCs. And users must seamlessly without any advanced knowledge about routing be connected to the VM machines that were moved. For now the users work in 1100 different offices around the Ukraine country.
Yes I know a little about Cisco OTV, RHI and LISP solutions. But all this solutions require the top level switches and routers like Nexus 7000 and Cat 6500. And they are very costly.
Is there cheaper solution for the IP Mobility?
Maybe the NHRP protocol that is a part of the DMVPN could be a good solution?
Are there any features in NHRP or in other protocol for monitoring the health of a VM machine, customising and propagation the routing info in case of VM machine motion?

Required data from a legacy system(generate data only in the form of flat files)to SAP R3 as FB01 journals - use BDC for this thing because it will be better for large source files.
the output file should be generated periodically(daily,weekly,fortnightly etc) - if this output file contains acknowledgment for the data uploaded by the above process, create a ABAP report for it and schedule it..........but if this output contains some other IDOC data which you need to send as a file to a third-party system, then go for SAP XI provided the IDOC data is not too large... but if the IDOC size is huge, then just create a ABAP report for outputting data to a file on application server and FTP the file to third-party system.

Setting up Proxy for Mobile Solutions

Hi,
We have just recently looked into the InTune solution (Cloud) without SCCM for our MDM solution which will replace BES and GOOD as we are now starting to bring in Nokia Windows 8 phones and phasing out blackberry.
My question is, is there a way to setup proxy for the Mobile Phones? We have a proxy.pac file for various access rights that we will not be able to carry over as pac files are not supported on IE of the mobile phones.
Is there a way to create proxy profiles that can be applied to certain devices in InTunes?
