Archivation of administrative data

Hello,
I am trying to archive administrative data in SAP BI 7.0
System succesfully creates an archive file but fails to delete data from the tables.
System generates the following error :
Lock table overflow
Does anybody know how to resolve this issue?

lock table overflow is generally a basis issue u need to change the table size\enque

Archivation of Request Administration Data

Hello,

Archiving Administration data in a process chain using BWREQARCH

On our project i need to archive administration data.But i want to do it using a process chain. Whatever is needed to archive data like program BWREQARCH in a step in a process chain.

Is it a new feature of BW7.0 ? I am going to have a look, as it it very interesting.
The tiem out issue is due to a lakc of performances in the treatment of data in each package, as you will have one DIA for each packageof your load.
To reduce the probability of time out:
- check the routines you have in the update rules
- check that the indexes of the cube you laod are dropped before you start to laod as you might create contention during the load.

Can we archive the entire data of a student ..i.e.. his master data,event bookings,student account info and whatever information is available in the system.

If you are talking about the portal content (self-services for student and employee) you have to conduct the following steps:
1. Download the business package
Log on to SDN with your user id and password and download the business package for Student Lifecycle Management with help of SAP download manager.
Activities that needs to be performed at Enterprise Portal -->
2. Import the business package in portal
a.) Log on to your portal and but ensure that you have the "System Administrator" role to perform this activity.
b.) In the "System Administrator" tab, follow the path "System Administrator->Transport->Import->Source for package file". Here you will get two options (radio buttons): "Client" or "Server". You can choose the option where you have put your downloaded business package.
c.) Click on "Browse" button and search the business package zip file.
d.) Now click the "Import" button and wait till process is completed.
3. Check the business package content in Portal Content Directory
a.) Go to the "Content Administrator" tab in the top-level navigation (to access PCD, you must have "Content Administrator" role) and follow the path: "Content Administrator->Portal Content->Content provided by IBU-> SAP for Public Services -> SLcM (could also be campus or HER).
Here you can find iViews, pages, folders, roles in respective folders.

Administrating Data Guard without complexity of Grid Control. Possible?

I wonder if someone can shed some wisdom about implementing and administrating Data Guard without the complexity of Grid Control. Don't get me wrong, I love the Data Guard feature provided by Grid Control, but installing Grid Control just for the sake of administrating Data Guard sounds a bit overkilling. Not to mention that I still have hard time getting Grid Control properly installed on a Windows Server 2003 box (keeps getting 503 Service Unavailable and the Servlet error).
I was told by a friend that Oracle 9 has something called EMCA (Control Assistant) that allows you to administrate Data Guide. Searching for any file containing the phrase "emca" under the Oracle directory ("c:\Oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\BIN"), I found emca.bat and some related files. Does it mean the EMCA is actually existing in Oracle 10.2G (for Microsoft Windows Server)?
Any comment? Feeling clueless right now. :-I ....

I have set up Dataguard 9iR2 on Linux SLES8 and use Data Guard Broker to manage switchover and failover operations. It comes with the database and is command-line based.
The documentation walks you through the setup phases quite nicely.

Has anyone had issues with Administration\Data Import/Export\Data Import???
I have a client who has recently upgraded from V2007 to V8.81. They were succesfuly using this standard function to import supplier prices to their master price list, but now it has failed?
I have looked at the file they are importing and it appears to be fine.
On closer inspection, it did contain approx 46,000 entries, so I took the first 1,000 and created a test file, which imported fine.
The only issue I found was Speed, with the test file of 1,000 records taking about 30 Mins to import. This appeared to get slower and slower the further through the file it got!
Based on this, I have estimated that the whole file would takle about 13 hours to import. The client say that when they used to run it on version 2007 it was far quicker?
In practice, it does appear to run, but the speed is the issue. Having said this, I set the whole file to run last night (over night)and this morning it had appeared to hang after about 2,307 rows, with nothing else being updated.
Has anyone any ideas or is aware of performance issues like this?

Not sure really.
I have uploaded a copy of their database onto my test system and run the same routine. Its equally as SLOW
I can't gauage if its an issue with 8.81 that 2007 didn't have, as I only have the client's word on it, however I have no reason to disbelieve them.

Changing Administrative data in Layout set (SE71)

I have copied another system layout set extract & uploaded into my system by changing user name in the extract.
But i got few fields wrongly updated in Adminitstrative data. I have already made some changes to layout set. so i can't upload again.
Now i want to change fields: Created On, By, Release: & Changed on, By, Release:
fields in the Administrative data tab in header data of layout set(SE71).
Can anybody tell me how can i change this data!

If you have authorizations to open the layout in Change mode then you can change the fields names as well as Values By knowing the correct field names.

Oracle 11g automatic archival // maintaining historic data

We are planning to get Oracle 11g.
I want to know if Oracle 11g has the capability to do automatic archival?
My requirement is,
few of the tables in our application will have lot of records (data) and after some days/ months it might slog the performance cos of the table/db size, and also the old data will not be of much interest (but data cannot be purged/deleted until some years). Hence want to archive the old data (trigger conditions specified by the user) and will be needed to bring data back programatically whenever the user queries for the data belonging to that particular period(archived data).
Is there a feature available in Oracle to just specify the data to be archive and bring it back by giving a date/time input.

What is your motive for archiving? Improved performance? Cheaper media?

Archiving E-Recruiting data

I've been looking for a solution to archive E-Recruiting data without having the customer purchase an Open Text-like product. I'm using the standard content server and E-Recruiting is on the same server as ERP.
Requirement:
1. Archive data of candidates with the status Rejected
2. Ability to retrieve archived data with user experience remaining unchanged. In other words, just like retrieving data from E-Recruiting tables.

Hi Shyamu,
It depends on if you choose expiration period or retention period. The first tells you how long candidate/application is stored once the object is rejected or withdrawn before it should be deleted and the latter tells you how long generelly the objects have to be stored before they can be deleted.
So in your case I think you would need a retention period.
Both entries, for the expiration and the retention, are contradictory entities. Either you retain applicant data until a certain point of time or the data expires until that date. The same use for both can't be achieved.
If you try to delete candidate data via the deletion tool report, the system checks all relationships to requisitions with a retention date and refuses the deletion.

SharePoint Auto Archive for List Data

Hi,
We have a requirement where we want the list items to be auto archived(copy to a separate list) after [n] years. The time duration is determined by one of the column of the list(created time/updated time).
Does MOSS-2007 supports any built-in feature to supports auto archival for list data? If not whats the best to implement this.

Yes. Using content types, you can set information management policy settings. These settings allow you to expire documents based on content type. What happens at expiration time can be configured. A disposition workflow may be kicked off, or you could just delete the document.
To try this out, go to list settings -> advanced settings and check "Allow Management of content types".
Then click the document content type from the list setting page. From the content type information page, click "Information managament policy settings". Select "Define a policy..." and click OK. from there you can configure expiration.
Note: You will have to configure any workflows that should run at expiration time BEFORE configuring expiration itself.
EDIT: looking further, I see you want to archive, not just expire. To do this, implement a workflow on the list that moves the file into an archive folder (or onto a filesystem or wherever) and configure that workflow to run on expiration.
