Archive and Install and the wireless service Rolling ball

I did an archive and install from a Leopard disk, after running repair permissions and disk warrior. All seemed to be ok until the select wireless screen appeared, the proper network identified and the beach ball continues to roll and roll and roll. It's still rolling.
I need some advice and help.

You are going to have to provide much more information before we can help you.
Such as more details on your hardware; how much RAM, how large is your disk, how much free space do you have on your disk? Also what have you done to your Mac besides the Archive & Install?

How do you uninstall the wireless service and lenovo battery indicator from the task bar.

Right click on the Lenovo battery gauge in the taskbar, click "Launch Power Manager", click Options, clear "Show Power Manager Gauge in taskbar" check box. If Options tab is not available, switch to Advanced mode (upper right corner of Power Manager).
Don't recall specifics for Lenovo network icon, but is probably just as simple. Would be better (IMHO) to get rid of Access Connections altogether.
Removing the icons will have no affect on anything, except your piece of mind from removing these ugly and redundant symbols of bloatware. They are NOT important.

I have to restore my Mac mini and i want to click on archive and install and it says it will move existing files to a folder but I need to know wether my photos will be moved too because I have 5 years worth of photos on there. If my photos will not be moved could I take it too a store and they could put them onto a USB stick for me.

"Archive and install" is an option in early versions of OS X installers. It moves some parts of the previous system to a folder called "Previous System" and installs the new OS.

If you have 5 years' worth of photos and you do not want to lose them, then you NEED to have a backup. Hard drives can fail. Suddenly. Particularly on aging hardware. Computers can get stolen, set on fire or have drinks spilt over them.
If you do not have a backup, you should EXPECT to lose your files.
You should not need a store to make a copy of your files. Get an external drive, or use DVDs and move the files in the Finder. If you're using Leopard already, then you have Time Machine.

We always do both at the same time, i.e.install webdispatcher and and install webdispatcher as a service.
However, what is the reason to do it in 2 steps? Why it cannot be done the same way as NW700: the service
is created during the install of the instance?

It depends on How you are installing WebDispatcher.
1). If you use BootStrap method, or just uncar wdispadmin.sar file then yes you have to install WebDispatcher and service as two steps because this is manual installation.
Where as, if you use SAPINST, it will take care of Installation of WebDispatcher and Service, though it two steps it merges to one using SAPINST.

Udate Tomcat Version and install it as a service

Hi,
I want to update in my Essbase Installation (Database: 6.5.3, Deployment Service 7.1.00, Tomcat 4.1.30) only the Tomcat Server to Version 4.1.37 and install it as a service.
Is there a Installation Guide how to do this? I tried different things but it doesn't work!

Here is a script we use. Note: The ARBORPATH must be set to the Essbase dlls in the eds subdirectory structure. This may be a problem if you have Essbase 6.5.3 server running on the same machine. There are some versions of Tomcat that allow you to set environment variables for use by the service; I believe Tomcat 5.5.23 is a good version for that. Tomcat 5.5.26 has a bug that truncates request streams at 8K and should not be used (https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=44494)

Archive and Install, and then Aperture Serial Number gone!

I just did an Archive and Install, because my MacBook Pro became sluggish. Naively I assumed that after this operation all programs would run. So far I have detected only one program that does not simply open as it did before the Archive and Install, and that is Aperture: Aperture asks me for my Serial Number. Since I moved three times in the past 18 months (including a major international move), I cannot find my original package with the Serial Number. I can prove that I purchased the software: I have the order number and the Apple Store shipment confirmation, but this does not include the serial number.
My question is: since I have a Time Machine backup, where in the backup files of the Library is the Serial Number stored? I hope I can just go back in time, open the plist or whatever file contains the login for Aperture and get the number again. Does anyone know which file contains this information?

That is true - I apologize for not being specific - what I was mainly referring to is iLife applications. I have a notice on the App Store that says 3 apps need updates, I look at the apps and they are huge so since my connection is so slow I use my work connection and d'load the files from support to my Windows machine and carry them home, once d'loaded my MacAir states it cannot install, the update must come from the App Store.
I do the same thing for large Leopard and Lion files and I can install them without error, it is just the App Store files that the system stops.

Nope, you can install it on your new computer with no issues. The disc contains both the 32 and 64 bit versions.

thank you for your promt message. I have download the installer like many times before and install the flashplayer like many times before, too. But it does not work ... only getting the black screen ... but then, after checking some settings and defaults i realize that i have to switch in Safari > Security > Plug in to status activated !!!
Shame on me and sorry for wasting your time, but i started with Mac 3 weeks before and have to leave windows-thinking !!! But i am convinced that mac is the better way ...
