Archive BW master data

Is it possible to archive master data in BW? I don't see any option to archive..

Hi,
You can delete masterdata (rightklick infoobject -> delete masterdata), but only if there a no referencing records present in any infoprovider. Otherwise the information chain: Fact record -> DIM -> SID gets broken; since when you delete masterdata the corresponding SID table entry gets deleted. The system does not allow this. The deletion run can be time consuming since the system checks this condition for the masterdata to be deleted. I don't think there is an archiving solution for masterdata yet in BW.

Vendor Master Data Archiving

Hi,
I wanted to archive vendor master data. I got program - SAPF058V which gives FI,Vendor Master Data Archiving: Proposal list.
This program checks whether and which Vendor Master data can be archived or not. I am getting error message after running this program with selection of one of the Vendor saying that "Links stored incompletely". Can someone pls help on this

Hi,
Check if you have an entry in table FRUN for PRGID 'SAPF047'. Other option is set the parameter 'FI link validation off'' with the flag on (ie: value 'x'). Check the help for this flag, surely this vendor have a code of customer. Perhaps you must try to delete this link in customer and vendor master before.

Archiving of BW Master data

Hi All,
I am looking for information on Archiving of Master data in BW (not Product master).
As I understand that SAP does offer standard functionality for archiving in BW but is restricted to Product Master only.
Please let me know if there are any methodology/documents available for archiving of BW Master data, have already checked the content available on SDN.
Appreciate if somebody who has worked on such a project could share their experience/learnings also.

I am aware of what you have mentioned and we do want to archive the BW transactional data also corresponding to the master data hence the need to look at options available. When the transactional data may not be required for analysis, this could definitely improve performance, hence we are looking for options

The need arises from the fact that for a master data (Order no.) we have more than a couple of million records wherein most of them are not being used any longer for reporting/analysis

MATERIAL MASTER DATA ARCHIVING

Dear Experts,
I have archive material master data from the data base.
As a prerequisite for material master data archive,
Purchase orders for the materials are archived already.
Invoices documents are archived already
Material documents are archived already
No material stocks exists for these materials.
Please tell me deletion flag is to be set for the material at client level ?

you can delete and archive a material master at any level.
If you want archive the full material master, then you have to set the deletion indicator in MM06 on top level. if you just want archvie a storage location view, then you set your deletion indicator at this level only, as well in MM06.
In general MM06 is not necessary, as the SARA MM_MATNR write program allows to archive materials without having a deletion flag.

Archiving of Vendor Master Data,

Hi All,
I want to Archive Vendor Master data .
For this purpose , I used two Archiving Objects - FI_DOCUMNT and FI_ACCPAYB so that I can archive data from tables LFA1 and LFB1.
After archiving using FI_DOCUMNT , I tried archiving(write) using FI_ACCPAYB.The job did not pick up even a single record with an eror - transaction figures exist.
Hence to remove transaction figure I used Archiving Object FI_MONTHLY. After Archiving using FI_MONTHLY,
when I again tried archiving FI_ACCPAYB,I faced another error - "cleared items still exist".
I found out 3 tables related to cleared Items.
BSE_CLR
BSAK
BSAS
I got cleared Items cleared form BSE_CLR through FI_DOCUMNT,but those cleared items still exist in rest two tables.For all these three tables archiving object is same i.e. FI_DOCUMNT. I don't know why it did not delete data from rest two tables.
Please clear my following doubts-
1. what is the proper data dependency and archiving Object to archive Vendor master data.
2. In DB15 -When we search tables for a particular archiving Object, does it mean that that particular Archiving object will archive data from all tables listed for that OBJECT.

Archiving object FI_ACCPAYB is dependent on various other archiving objects such as FI_DOCUMNT, MM_EKKO and so on which means that before archiving FI_ACCPAYB, first we have to archive dependent AO if we want to keep track on all the transaction data for this Vendor.
You can directly archive VMR with FI_ACCPAYB with out considering dependent archiving object also, Prerequisites for this are:
1. There should be no open items for this vendor
2. It should be marked for archiving at company code level and Purchase organization level.
3. Deletion indicator should be marked through Preprocessing program
If a VMR have all the above criteria then you can archive the vendor.
2 Question:
When we archive then write program picks up the data from the table that is mentioned in the DB15 transaction under the particular archiving objects.

If use T-code : SARA . The vendor master data is required to mark deletion flag before archiving.
Any standard T-code can set all vendor master data with marked deletion flag ?

Give XK99 a try. With XK06 a single change is possible and in FI also FK06 is available.
When XK99 has problems with field LFA1-LOEVM, then you can make easily a CATT for XK06.

I tried doing the same in IDES, but unfortunately the archive file is not getting generated when i write it. I have clearly specified in the variant to create an archive file. Can you please explain how does the system generate an archive file. And also in the customizing " Archiving Object-Specific Customizing " techincal settings, i have maintained the production variant and have marked start automatically.

Hi,
I am thinking about creating a "twin" object of the one that you want to archive (identical).
Once create, refresh the new object with the information that you want to keep, and dont refresh any more.
But if you are interested in doing several archives and keep the data within that object, you can create a new field within the new Twin Characteristic as "key field" to store the date of when you do the archiving.

Hello there,
It depends on whether you simply want these objects to be locked and not used or whether you want to achieve an actual archiving of this data. If you are ok with the first option, go to processing the rental object (RECN, REBDRO, REBDBE, REBDPR, etc.) and then from menu Edit - Change Status - Archive - Set Deletion Flag. Thus, these objects will have DLFL status set.

Archiving material master

Hello Friends,
I have put deletion flag for material by MM06 & tried to execute SARA transaction, however While doing archving, iam getting the following errors in the SM37 job log after write step, please let me know how to resolve th same:
1. MARC: production order exists
2. MARC: use in product group exists
3. MBEW: plant is assigned to the valuation area
4. MARA: Dependent material master data still exists
5.50026991526002R ROLLBACK carried out
6.MARD: error deleting table MARD

If a purchase order, Open production order or any other Dependency exists for the material, Material master record cannot be archived and deleted at a given organizational level, the reason will be given in the log the log also contains technical data. check all dependencies for the materials and up on clearing them flag the materials for deletion first and then Archive them.

How to delete the master data of a Customer created in a SALES AREA?

I've deleted a Customer (master data) by t.code OBR2. But it exists again in its SALES AREA.
Could anyone tell me how to delete it in the sales area too?

I dont think you can delete a customer. you can market it for deletion in XD06.
for deleting customer master data you have to setup an archiving project.

Help requested on Procedure to Archieve Equipment Master Data

Hello SAP Gurus,
We have a requirement to Archive the Equipment Master data in SAP 4.7 system that run on Linux platform with Oracle 10g database. Can anyone of you please guide us with any links or documents which would detail the step by step process on how to do it and what are the consideration that have to be taken in to account.
Any How To document with step by step process would be of great help as we have not this task before.

I was trying to archieve one equipment data in our sandbox system. My functional consultant has set the deletion flag on equipment to be deleted and then we are trying to run SARA tcode for Object PM_EQUI and defined variants needed.
Preprocessing went through fine next we had run Write Job that too completed successfully and there was a archive session created as well.
when go to configure Delete in SARA it is showing that there is no data to be selected . when I look in to CCMS archieve monitor in tcode SAR_SHOW_MONITOR this shows as - No Method Method assigned !!
Can you please suggest what can be the issue ? I am clue less as this was my first experience with SARA Tcode.
Is there any howto document available that give step by step screenshot for archieving ?

Delete Vendor Master Data xk01

I have created Vendor Master in XK01 including purchase organization.
I want to delete it permanently. I have not made any POS and data.

Go to Tcode : SARA, enter the Object FI_ACCPAYB
Then :
1 Maintain write variant, it depends, if the vendor data only create for Purchasing Level only,than you can choose MM data.
When you archive MM data for vendor master records, the system automatically checks whether the following conditions have been met:
· The deletion flag is set.
· Dependent data of the following types no longer exists in the system:
Purchasing documents
Purchasing info records
Vendor partner roles
2. Maintain Deletion variant--> start deletion process --> this step will completely remove data from table.
If then some dependent data of above mention still exist,then you need also to close /archive the dependent data also.
