Archive Page in the Navigation Menu

The selection for including the Archive Page in the Navigation Menu is greyed out. Is there a reason for this and/or any way to get it there other than creating a text box & link.

Mine acts the same way, and I would guess is just another of the many quirks of iWeb.
Your idea for new text boxes and links sounds like the best approach to me.
I am actually designing a new title nav bar for my sites, which will just cover up all the iWeb generated links. Seems like the only way around this problem.

  • How can I create a hyperlink directly in the navigation menu using iWeb09?

    I would like to add a URL to an external page in the navigation menu of my website using iWeb09. I have not been able to change the URL automatically generated by iWeb09 for each new page. The best I can do is to select text or an image that I want to link to the external page. I would rather create the hyperlink directly in the navigation menu. Is there a way of doing this?

    Try this...
    Create a blank internal page named "Link" (actually you can name the page whatever you want.) Then in that "Link" page add an HTML Snippet with the following code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    parent.window.location = "http://www.externalpage.com"; // change this to your own URL
    </script>
    ...Once published, clicking on "Link" in iWeb’s navbar will immediately redirect to the external page. (Thanks to Cyclosaurus for the code).

  • Does and one know if you can change the navigation menu at the top of the iWeb template pages?

    Does and one know if you can change the navigation menu at the top of the iWeb template pages? I need to make the background a little wider.

    It depends on which template you use.
    You can also hide the default navigation and build your own which allows more freedom of design and is better for search engine optimization...

  • Page won't open that's linked but not in the navigation menu

    On my photos page I have set links from each of the photos to another page.
    As long as I keep the page in my navigation menu it opens.
    But when I uncheck that option, clicking on the photo opens up a pop up with an original size version of the same photo.
    I don't want the page to appear in the navigation menu as it is a submenu of the photo page.
    Is there any way for me to get the page to load without having it in the navigation menu?
    Is the photo pop up a function of the photos page, and therefore I have to use another page template so this doesnt happen?

    How did you make the links on the photo template page?
    I'm wondering if this write up might help you...

    I have ask to author of the template to make the active page text grayed out but he wants again money because this is customizing request of the template...

    Thank you for the answers.
    If it is possible I don't want create nothing because it complicates the stuffs (I'm a very beginner in this things). I have tried the javascript way but it don't modifies the behavior of the menu.
    Excavating in the iWeb application folder I have reach this file that seems the responsable of the navigation bar: iWeb.app/Contents/Resources/Themes/_Simple\ Info\ orange.webtheme/Italian.lproj/Welcome.webtemplate/com.apple.iweb.widget.navbar. Welcome.plist
    I have open it with Pref Setter:
    .navbar {
    font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, sans-serif;
    font-size: .8em;
    color: #666666;
    line-height: 30px;
    border-bottom: 3px solid #ccc;
    .navbar-bg {
    text-align: right;}
    .navbar-bg ul {
    list-style: none;

  • Add a link to the navigation / menu bar

    I would like to add a home button infront of the My Workspace button in the navigation/menu bar at the top of my Vibe page.
    What jsp of file should I edit to achieve this?

    I didn't look for that JSP, but used the branding for a high level "menu" AND wrote my own JSP to have a dynamic horizontal menu based on a portion of the workspace tree. The problem with changing Vibe's grey menu bar is that any upcoming updates might destroy your tweak. I have a few of those I need to keep in mind whenever an update or patch is done.
    With my JSP adding, removing or modifying workspaces/folders in the identified branch automagically changes on the fly generated horizontal menu with the next refresh/visit of the landing page using the JSP. The menu can be for any branch of your workspace tree. If a visitor doesn't have access to a workspace or folder, the menu skips right over it automagically as well.
    You can find this homebrewed JSP and key details at : Use this nifty JSP to make a dynamic horizontal menu from a branch of your workspace tree | Novell User Communities
    It allows you to reorder the menu items and even drop some workspaces/folders from the menu with a simple trick explained in the article.
    To see the JSP at work, go to CSDECSO - Conseil scolaire de district des écoles catholiques du Sud-Ouest or any of our 30 or so school web sites being implemented within our existing Vibe instance. You won't be able to change the tree branch, but you will see the menu. Some schools have slightly different menu choices, if you poke around long enough to find these differences. I just made them accessible to the public a few weeks ago.
    Don't forget to use the integrated GoogleTranslate (generally near the Vibe printer icon in upper right corner beneath the branding and grey menu) to convert the bulk of our sites' content to any one of the 60 or so languages supported by Google. I have an article explaining how this was done as well. Of course, it is an automated translation, so don't expect perfection and don't be offended if it comes out the wrong way.

  • Centering items in the Navigation Menu

    I have a multi page web site that was created in iWeb08.
    On some of the pages all the items are properly centered... on others they are right justified and in some browsers they wrap to a third line.
    How can I edit or format them so they are all the same and centered .
    If anyone is curious at looking at the site it is at:

    In addition to my mavigation menu issue, I am open to suggestions.
    Thanks

    Select "Show Layout" from the "View" menu and drag the "handles of the navigation box to the page edges.
    You are not showing all the pages in the navigation on every page and this cause an inconsistency.
    Once your site grows to more than a few pages, you really have to divide it into main sections which are included in the main navigation and then each sub section has its own.
    Here's an example of a site done like this where the iWeb navigation has been dispensed with and both the main and sub navigations are built in a text box.....

  • How to defeat the auto caps in the navigation menu.

    How in god's name do you get iWeb to stop automatically capitalizing things in the navigation menu? It seems happy to let me use lowercase for totally new pages but Welcome, About, Photos, etc. Is absolutely forced caps. No matter how many time, or in what fashion I try to change the text it reverts back to Caps on the first letter. Is it not possible to have welcome about, photos, etc in your navi menu?

    and ... considering most screens are more of a landscape arrangement and have more side to side space than up and down, why can't you move the navicrap to the left instead of taking precious vertical space. I have several clean looking pages that would require no scrolling at all if i could move the navicrap to the side. It's like M$ word. Lets see how much vertical space we can forcibly waste with menus and crap forcing everyone to read long thin slits of text. Grr...

  • Spacing in the Navigation Menu

    Is there any way to space (align & distribute) the text in the Navigation Menu to make it more appealing and less cluttered?

    Yes there is a way to do this, but you have to edit the template XML to do it.
    I've explained how to get into the XML and edit things in a handful of threads. But here's the version at my site. Some of the user comments are helpful.
    http://11mystics.com/blog/2006/10/25/change-iweb-hyperlink-navbar-colors/
    Once you get into the XML, search for the word orientation. That will find the area where you can set the padding between your nav bar entries. Ask questions. No need to beat your head

  • Too much sites on the navigation menu

    I have a pretty big website, like 5 blogs a lot of photo pages (about 20), and also a big amount of video pages. So my navigation menu becomes too big to be showed on the website without looking ugly. So I have to deactivate the display navigation menu option each time I make a new blog entry, and it is pretty anoying if you have to this with every single page on your site. Do you know if there is a way to make this "display navigation option deactivated"?

    On the inspector page there are two check boxes.
    Display navigation menu..
    List in navigation menu..
    Or words to that effect, I think that's what you are looking for.

  • I need help with the navigation menu please?

    I have been working my way through your six part printed instructions and I am styling the header and navigation menu.  The bullet points disappeared which was correct and the tabs moved to the right, as they should, but one tab sits underneath another tab and all tabs are covered up by my main heading.  This is dreamweaver CS6.
    It looks a bit of a mess!

    I have moved this to the main Dreamweaver forum, as the other forum is intended to deal with the Getting Started video tutorial.
    The best way to get help with layout problems is to upload the files to a website and post the URL in the forum. Someone can then look at the code, and identify the problem. Judging from your description, it sounds as though the Document window is narrow, which would result in the final menu tab dropping down to the next row. Try turning on Live view or previewing the page in a browser. Design view gives only an approximate idea of the final layout. Live view renders the page as it should look in a browser.

  • Where is the sign in page from the itunes menu

    I am trying to add an iphone device to my apple id or itunes account, when I do a google search for it, they all say to choose store > sign in  from the itunes menu.
    Where is this?  I have tried multiple times and I am not able to even find that path ^ store > sign in from the itunes menu.

    Axeman1020 is referring to the iTunes program (i.e. where you buy apps, music etc and sync content to iOS devices), not to a browser.
    What are you actually trying to do ? If you want to log into your account on a browser (e.g. for changing email addresses on your account) then you can do so via http://appleid.apple.com
    If you want to buy and download content, play your existing content, and/or sync content to an iOS device then you need to use the iTunes program (that is where the control-B on PCs works, and where the Store drop-down menu shows for signing into your account) : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

  • Can't tap on links in HTML overlays without the navigation menu popping up

    When I insert my html overlays, I'm trying to find a viable workaround for the following issue.
    If a user tries tapping any of the links to trigger animations I've created in my HTML, the content browser's navigation pops up at the same time as the link triggering the animation. This is similar to what I run into with other vendors like pixel mags.
    We recommended to them to have their navigation not pop-up unless a user double taps, 2 finger taps, or taps and holds the screen. Is there any type of distinction in the works for Adobe as well? Or are there any workarounds for this?
    Most of the time, it's almost too easy to get the navigation to pop-up when I was simply trying to trigger something else.
    Does this make sense? Apologies if this has already been addressed, and thanks.

    Yes it has been adressed, several times before.
    The one-tap solution for evoking the viewer UI seems to be a decision adobe
    will stick to for the next time.
    Although the html overlay triggers the viewer UI every time you tap a link,
    that was aknowledged as a problem and we read that adobe is working on a
    fix, don't know if it is included in the viewer that is currently under
    review by apple.
