Archive unzips in windows with temp files

Hello everyone. I am completely baffled. I had a folder of some photobooth pictures I was sending to my wife on her PC laptop. I used the Finder Make Archive utility, then Services to send the file through Mail.app. When she opened them on her end it looks like my entire internet cache was sent with it as well as other pictures from the original folder. When I open the .zip archive on my mac it just shows the 8 pictures I sent to her. Any ideas?

The possibility that personal information on a person's drive could inadvertently be included in archives created using a "Finder" feature and sent out is a little disturbing. The issue of the inclusion of lists of folder contents contained in ".DS_Store" files eg. burned on to CDs has come up, but I haven't heard of actual files being included.
But before jumping to any conclusions, it would be important to determine whether the archive process is the problem, or if the items were already there (i.e. if something else is creating hidden folders inside your original folder), and the "Finder" is just archiving what is there normally. Files hidden from the user in the "Finder" being visible to Windows users isn't that unusual.
For example, if the original folder is still around, try launching "/Applications" > "AppleScript" > "Script Editor.app", entering the line "choose file" and hit "Run". A dummy dialogue box should open in "Finder", allowing you to navigate to the folder of interest, where its contents should be displayed, including invisible items.

When Pages is open, click File menu in the Pages menu bar.

Adobe photoshop cc 2014 won't close window with unsaved file

Recently installed update to Photoshop via creative cloud. Photoshop works great but for some reason I am unable to close a window with an unsaved project. Pressing command-w or going to file close doesn't do anything. As soon as I save the file I can close the window or quit photoshop. Is this in the preferences? Please advice.

I'm having this same issue. Can't close an unsaved file that has been opened, even if it is completely unedited. When an unsaved file is present, I can't quit Photoshop, either.
I'm on OSX 10.7.5 (yes, I know...it's aged), Photoshop CC. Plenty of memory and disk space, so that's not the issue.

Archive applet. Help with adding files to archive, then show.

The user is supposed to add, remove and open archives with text in it.
My problem is now the highlited area in the code (the lines with the @@'s).
This button should list all files i have added to the archive, however when i press the button, i only get a numberlisting. eg, if i have added 4 files to the archive I get: 0123
However I want the Joptionpane to show a listing of the files in the archive.
When I press "open" i can choose a file, press add, then open a new file, press add, and then when i click show archive, the filenames of the two files i added, should list through a Joptionpane..as you can see, i've tried, but i'm very unfamiliar with this.

Firefox freezes when opening a window with PDF files, etc., yet it works perfectly when using explorer as browser.

I think Firefox mozilla is having issues with Adobe reader. It frequently crashes. I think this may be why my computer freezes when pulling up a PDF file or other text windows, yet, everything works perfect when using Explorer as my browser. It is so frustrating using Mozilla because it gets stuck when opening windows which require pulling up certain types of texts or applications, then I have to wait forever, or, reboot, and once in a while it gets so stuck that I have to take out battery and remove all power sources then start from scratch, and set my computer back to all settings previous to failure. Like I said, this only happens with Mozilla, all other browsers work perfectly well, but I love my Mozilla and it is my preferred browser. Please help. Thanks so much,

Hi Susan,
The Adobe plugin in Internet Explorer is a bit different from the one in Firefox, however they're all made by Adobe and they usually come with Adobe Reader.
When you open a PDF file in Firefox, it "calls" Adobe Reader to help it read the file. In this case, the Adobe Reader takes over, and it is responsible for freezing your browser.
I suggest you try the last 4 solutions presented on the [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]] (start with "Re-install the plugin" through "Re-install Adobe Reader").

Yes you can get the command-line args, but this only works when first launching the application. It will not work if the application is already running. For this, you need to message into the running application using some other mechanism. Most apps use DDE for this.
Here is a utility that will allow you to get the command-line arguments using a WinAPI call:

Also, if you are using LabVIEW 7.0 you can get the command-line arg's using the VI Server property "App::Command Line Arguments".

Tracks are dissapearing and are being replaced with temp files

I use Itunes to purchase music which I then import to traktor scratch duo. The tracks will work fine. The next time I log in it says they are gone. I scan my computer and all I find is a temporary file in place--meaning the same folder the original was in.

Can you check the metadata inside the PDF from InDesign to see if the
problem files are from an earlier version of InDesign or not? In
addition, do we know if this text was tagged or not (via the STRUCTURE
command) ...
A little more investigation ?

Reader opens a new window with same file and crashes when trying to print

the wierd thing is that I have two Dell systems printing to the same HP 4015 printer, though when the other one prints there is no problem, and when printing to another printer the same error occurs, any other documents are fine. we've tried the drivers but since the error happens with other printers I don't think its a issue with the drivers or the printers. I did a quick search and found similar issue, though none with any results, if I've posted in the wrong area please point me in the right direction. any assistance would be greatly appricated.

if it will be of assistance to any one, the resolution to the issue came when the profile was deleted and then recreated. we came to this conculsion when we created a new user proifile and tried to re create the issue. while not technically a direct fix the issue was resolved. its a hell of a lot better than some of the other resolutions online.

ITunes Library.itl file, and temp files after Time Machine retrieval

Hi - I messed up a playlist and got it back fine using Time Machine, but I'm left with temp files as well as iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Library.xml files on my desktop (that's where I placed the needed file for playlist re-import). Can't delete them, can't move them....what do I do with them?! Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Temp file save location

1st Why is Itunes creating so many temp files?
2nd Can I change where Itunes saves these file? They are saving on "my music" folder which is part of our server, wasting valuable space. If I have to have these files I would like to save them to my C: drive where my music is actually stored.

It seems iTunes has problems to write to the correct file (.itl) and creates temp-files. The fix would be to "unblock"/enable the writing process again, so you don't get any temp-files and don't need to store them someplace else.

Why does Dreamweaver open a "temp" file?

I recently installed Studio 8, and now when I open an
existing html file, for example "index.html," Dreamweaver opens it
and calls it "INDEX~1.HTM". I then have to do a "save as" in order
to get it back to "index.html" as the filename. Any suggestions???

thing. And you DEFINITELY don't want to save the previews.
When you
preview (with temp files enabled) you do not have to save
anything.

Application Loader, unless there's another one I'm not familiar with, is part of the iOS SDK. That have usurped the .zip, or you may have removed that application but your Mac is still holding onto the mapping of Zip files to that application. Select a .zip file in Finder, Get Info, and go to the Open with section. Select Archive Utility and click Change All. That should fix the problem.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Unfortunately I am not that tech oriented and
cannot easily find that folder. I did notice when I was booting up the LR software
that I could accept the site where LR usually is set up or choose a place. I am
thinking that the standard location for LR software is corrupted and that if I
chose a different place it would work. I say this because whether I use my
original disc or download from adobe I get the same warning. I have 100GB of
memory on the hard drive and I have cleaned the computer with Mcaffee and free
software. What should I do next? I can't use this software and I doubt LR 5
would open up with my current problem.

I am a new one here,
I am sorry for any mistakes and also my english is so poor.
M Brother company runing Windows 2008 R2 as Active Directory...
We have folder Name: Admin
and in this folder, there are alot documents files as : *.doc, *.dwg, *.txt etc.....
All user accesing to these files and they can open to edit and save...
One day my brother want me to set Admin folder for all users just"Read and Write.." mean they still can open files to edit and save... but can't delete..
I did success with this..
But only one thing happen.. when they open *.doc file to edit and attempting to save, the message alert" access denide " and they can only "SAVE AS"...We don't want "Save as"
Could you show me how can we fix error with *.doc file while they trying to save? because it allow only save as.. but other files as *.text file or *.dwg they can save without problem..
Could expert here ever face this issues and fix by yourself, please share me with this..

Hi,
Office programs are specific. They will create a temp file when edit, then the temp file will be deleted when close. So Delete permission is needed for users to saving Office files like Excel/Word.

Random crashes with Adobe LiveCycle form - where is temp file?

I'm using Adobe Acrobat v8 to enter data in a form I created on LiveCycle (the version that comes with Acrobat v8). I'm running Windows XP with all of the current patches (as far as I know - our tech support is pretty good at updates).
The file randomly, and repeatedly crashes on me. It also does this on my Vista Laptop, but since Vista randomly crashes for all sorts of reasons, who knows. The file does not randomly crash for a co-worker, so I suspect some sort of problem with my computer that I'm having tech support look into.
My question is where are the temp files? I have Acrobat set up to save to a temp file every minute, but this isn't helping me recover any lost data. I could type for 15 minutes in one field, and not recover any piece of it. Any advice?
