Archive ZIP files to IXOS

Hi ,
Can the FM ARCHIV_CONNECTION_INSERT be used to archive .zip files, to IXOS server ? If no, any other function module that can be used to archive the ZIP files?

yes it is true. You can only create a new archive with the added file(s) inside, there is nothing to happen an existing file to an existing zip file.
Good luck

  • Permission to open archived, .zip files

    What Application or utility allows a "user" to open an archived .zip file that they have made themselves. I can open an archived .zip file as the administrator but my user that has limitations cannot open one that they have made so I want to give them the "permission" to open the archived file.
    Thank you, Linda

  • Archiving ZIP files in SAP

    Hi all,
    I have the following requirements :
    1.Archive the ZIP file(containing a couple of files) into the IXOS content server, using a  ABAP function call.
    2.Attach the ZIPped file into a invoice document in SAP.
    Any ideas on how to proceed ?

    Hi Aravind,
    of course you can create workstation applications in transaction DC30 for .rar or .zip files. Normally you can use any file format in this customizing and then you can use the workstation application to add these files. For displaying or editing these kind of files I would recommend you to use the parameter %AUTO% in DC30 at "Define workstation application in network".
    Regarding the usage of .exe files I'm not sure if this really makes sense in a DMS system.
    Best regards,
    Christoph

  • Files don't actually Compress but look like Archive.zip

    New issue: I never had trouble archiving/compressing files before.
    I choose the files to compress, it goes through the motions, even gives me an Archive.zip file, but that file stays the same size as the combined files. Doesn't actually compress anything.
    Can't find this issue answered elsewhere!

    What kind of files are you attempting to zip?
    Some files, such as photos, music and video are actually compressed already. In fact something if you attempt to compress the files again. they actually get larger.

  • CAN'T OPEN A ZIP FILE

    I have an archive zip file of work. A zip file that I archived using the default utility in the Mac OS. The file will not open and never would from the day I archived it. I archived several folders of work that day, and they others open without issue. The folder in question goes through the motions of opening up but ultimately fails with a message "error code 1 - operation not permitted".
    There are no locks or passwords associated with this file and the information window for the file shows that permissions are read and write for any users.
    What could have gone wrong with this file?
    Is there anyway at ALL that this data can be retrieved?
    Since archiving seems to save only a small amount of data
    size, is there any argument for archiving in the first place?
    thanks,
    —b

    I have tried stuffit expander and a couple of others to see if there would be any change in the lack of success with unzipping the file. None of them had worked and fail with an error message of their own that equates to a possible corruption issue.
    I archived them in the first place, because they were files that I generated in a previous year here at university and needed to archive. The idea of "archiving" to me meant that I was basically boxing them up for use at some later date, but not something I had any intention of accessing on a regular basis. Now I'm developing my portfolio and there are a few works from that file that I need to include.
    In the future I will never archive files again. I've never seen a significant reduction in file size by doing so, and if there's the risk of corruption in the process. Enough said. I will simply back up to external for quick access and burn to disc for "archiving" literally into a box somewhere.
    For the one response that suggested "CLI", I can't figure out what you were instructing me to do.
    thanks for the replies,

  • Can I delete files once I compress them into a zip file?

    I am trying to get more space in my hard drive. One of the suggestions is to compress files I don't use. Once I compress them into an archive zip file, it looks like the files are still there.  I'm thinking that I should delete the original files but am afraid to do so. What percentage space do I save when I compress?

    What percentage space do I save when I compress?
    That depends on the type of file. Files that are already compressed, such as most media files, won't get smaller, and they may get larger. Text files will compress by about half, on average, but that will probably save a negligible amount of space.
    The right solution to your problem is to move the files you don't often need to an external hard drive. That drive must be backed up along with the internal one.

  • HT202731 Open archive.zip

    Have a 3 file archive.zip file and cannot extract & open files inside

    I have been a Mac user for 20 years. I used to compress files using DiskDoubler before I archived them. As I changed Macs, I moved my archives from removable external SCSI discs to ZIP drives and CDs. I would now like to be able to decompress/unarchive certain DD files, from the early 1990s, but cannot. I have tried the Unarchiver SW but it is unable to do anything with the DD files. I no longer have the DiskDoubler app, nor do I have OS9 (classic) on my iMac (running 10.4.11). However, I do still have the OS9 CD.
    Has anyone got any ideas? The DD files are not large and do not contain anyhing especially secure.
    Many thanks

    I've got a few largish files stored on BT Cloud - everything has been fine until today.
    Now, on clicking a file to download... I only get a 22 byte archive zip file - not the file in question?

  • [ZIP Archive] Append files to an existing archive

    Hi to all,
    I have an existing file that contains a ZIP archive. I want to add some files to this archive. I have seen in another thread that it's mandatory to read all the structures and construct a new zip file in order to add other files?
    Is it true?
    In this thread, someone proposes a method that performs this job
    <quote>
          * Loads a zip file for appending files
          * @param file The old zip archive
          * @param newFile The new zip archive
          * NOTE: This method will write a new file and data to an archive, to
                 * write an existing file, we must first read the data frm the file,
          * then you could call this method.
         public ZipOutputStream loadZipFile(File file, File newFile)
           ZipOutputStream zipOutput = null;
           ZipFile zipFile = null;
           Enumeration zippedFiles = null;
           ZipEntry currEntry = null;
           ZipEntry entry = null;
           try {
              zipFile = new ZipFile( file.getAbsolutePath() );
              //get an enumeration of all existing entries
              zippedFiles = zipFile.entries();
              //create your output zip file
              zipOutput = new ZipOutputStream(new FileOutputStream (newFile));
              //Get all the data out of the previously zipped files and write it to a new ZipEntry to go into a new file archive
              while (zippedFiles.hasMoreElements())
                   //Retrieve entry of existing files
                   currEntry = (ZipEntry)zippedFiles.nextElement();
                   //Read data from existing file
                   BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader( new InputStreamReader( zipFile.getInputStream( currEntry ) ) );
                   String currentLine = null;
                   StringBuffer buffer = new StringBuffer();
                   while( (currentLine = reader.readLine() ) != null )
                        buffer.append( currentLine);
                   //Commit the data
                   zipOutput.putNextEntry(new ZipEntry(currEntry.getName()) ) ;
                   zipOutput.write (buffer.toString().getBytes() );
                   zipOutput.flush();
                   zipOutput.closeEntry();
              //Close the old zip file
              zipFile.close();
              return zipOutput;
            catch (Exception e)
                 Logger.error("LoadZipFile", e);
                 System.out.println("Fatal error: "+e);
            return null;
    }</quote>
    It runs fine but all the file contained in the archive are on a singlie line.
    E.g. I have a text file in the original archive. When adding another stuff in the archive and by using this method, my orignal text file has its content on only one line.
    Could someone help with this bug?
    Kind regards,
    Stphane

    yes it is true. You can only create a new archive with the added file(s) inside, there is nothing to happen an existing file to an existing zip file.

  • Archive, Zip .pdf file

    Hi, Trying to send a large PDF via email so decided to zip it a by selecting 'create archive' the resulting 'zipped' file is pretty much the same size as the original file. The original PDF was 69.5MB the resulting 'zipped' file is 69.2MB
    No way near small enough to send attached to an email.
    Any suggestions??
    Thanks for looking.

    Maybe it's already compressed-how did you create it?

    Hi Guys!
    Cud ne1 tell me why does the sqldeveloper-v1.0.0.zip file not show ne contents to me after I try to unzip/open it? I've a 98SE m/c.
    Actually I know that sql developer wud work only on higher platforms, but currently i'm jst downloading the setup.
    Pls help me on this, also tell me if the sql developer is available elsewhere on Oracle.com website.
    Thanks & Regards.

    In the page of download exists the information on the size of each available archive.
    It compares this value with the one of the archive that you have in its machine.
    Perhaps the archive has not been transferred completely.

  • Archive Utility brings up error message when trying to unarchive protected zip file

    Hey there,
    I've been zipping images with password protection using different applications, some with a Lightroom Plug-In Zip-Exporter, some with a stand alone app such as "Archiver". Now when I try to unzip these images on OSX 10.6 the Archive Utility brings up an the error: "Unable to unarchive "Name of File" into "Desktop". (Error 1 - Operation not permitted.) I'm logged in with an admin account. I tried this on a macbook pro and on an imac, both 10.6, same problem. Now when I try to unzip the file using third party such as Stuffit expander or Archiver, it unzips the files without a problem.
    any idea what's wrong with the OSX Archive Utility?

    Nothing's wrong with it except that it doesn't support encrypted .zip files.  You'll just have to use third-party software, or a Terminal command, to unzip those.

  • When a zip file is un-archived, where does it go?

    When a zip file is un-archived, where does it go?

    Alan
    It is in your downloads folder if that is where you saved it to. If you're unsure of where the unzipped file/application is simply open finder and do a search for it. You can also do a Spotlight search for it as well.

  • Finder zip file creation fails silently w/large archive?

    I had a large number of files I wanted to burn to DVD, but the total size was just over 5G. No problem - I'll just zip them first, I thought.. I control-clicked the folder containing the files and selected 'create archive' and after some time, a 4.2G .zip file was created. No errors, everything looked fine.
    Problem is, the archive is unreadable. When I double click it a progress bar appears for some time and then I get the message "Unable to unarchive "myfile.zip" into "Desktop". (Error 1 - Operation not permitted.)"
    Ok, next step: use command line to try it. Opened terminal window and type "unzip myfile.zip". Immediate error:
    "End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
    a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
    latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
    the last disk(s) of this archive."
    Ok, StuffIt? Control click on the archive, select "Open with...StuffIt Expander" - StuffIt crashes.
    Copied file over to linux and used command line unzip utility- same result as in the terminal window.
    Any suggestions? I'm somewhat stunned by this...
    tia

    I've been having a similar problem.
    I have an large external firewire drive where I keep my iTunes on and I will at times make an archive of the actual music folder and it has not been able to complete the task. It also seems to hang at different points where the resulting .zip file is of varying sizes so I can't pinpoint it to a specific element. I've used this method for a while now to have a backup and it usually works fine. And I also repair permissions beforehand.
