Archiving Administration data in a process chain using BWREQARCH

On our project i need to archive administration data.But i want to do it using a process chain. Whatever is needed to archive data like program BWREQARCH in a step in a process chain.

I am really curious of your answer to change that to background.
Is it a new feature of BW7.0 ? I am going to have a look, as it it very interesting.
The tiem out issue is due to a lakc of performances in the treatment of data in each package, as you will have one DIA for each packageof your load.
To reduce the probability of time out:
- check the routines you have in the update rules
- check that the indexes of the cube you laod are dropped before you start to laod as you might create contention during the load.

Select (Define) Step (s) or F6.
Select the line and Menu Goto>Variant.
The variant contains the name of the CHAIN and its VARIANT.
Success
We faced an old job and via job monitoring we were informed about a cancelled job every 'interval'.
We noticed that the related chain was deleted but still the job was scheduled each interval again and was cancelled because an event was missing
We could not find the scheduled job via SM37.
Via view V_OP, view over tbtco abd tbtcp, we find the related entry.
We delete these entries via function BP_JOB_DELETE....

try this in your ABAP:
    CALL FUNCTION 'BP_EVENT_RAISE'
      EXPORTING
        eventid         = 'Your Event'
        eventparm       = 'START'
        target_instance = ' '
      EXCEPTIONS

and schedule your process chain, waiting for 'Your Event'.

Trigger Process chain using ABAP code

Hi All,
As per my knowledge there are 2 ways to trigger a process chain using ABAP code :
1) Using FM RSPC_API_CHAIN_START and passing process chain name as the parameter
2)Using FM 'BP_EVENT_RAISE' and passing process event as the parameter, which you can create using SM62 transaction.
I would like to know which one is better to use, in terms of advantage and disadvantage.

Finding Process Chain using the Request Number

Hello,
I am new to BI and currently monitoring Process Chains.
I am scheduling a process chain which runs 3 times in a day.
When i see the infocube there are four requests in the infocube, that means one more request apart from my three.
The other reuqest is also being exeuted by user ALEREMOTE which means even it is being triggered by some other process chain.
Can i please know how to find out the other process chain using the request number or so.

Hi,
Goto each request and navigate to Infopackge screen and there you ll be able to find the process chain maintenance button. Click on that button, there you ll come to know what are all the process chain have been used for the single or multiple IPs.
Check one by one Request Infopak.

E-mail delay using "Event Data Change" in process chain

Hi Experts.
I can´t figure out why my process chain is taking so long to deliver a simple e-mail.
The BEx Broadcast Configuration is working fine. When I run it manually, the e-mail comes instantly. But when I use process chain (Event Data Change), it takes hours to receive the e-mail. The option to run after the infoprovider data change is set for this configuration.
Is there any additional configuration I have to check?

Trigger process chains using ABAP program selection screen.

Hi All
I am loading flat files through process chains. My requirment is such that i need to create a ABAP selection screen so that user can load the flat file from his PC. when the user is loading the flat file i have to copy the file onto the application server folder and then display him the monitor errors/warnings (if any). when my data load is complete i need to archive the file with time stamp onto the application server folder.
Please help me in this regard....

1. Using TA: AL11 create a folder in application server.
2. There is a program to send the flat file to application server on r/3 side.
Program Name:RC1TCG3Z.
3. Regarding archiving...I have no idea.

How do you run a Process Chain using parrallel processing group

Does anyone know the answer to the above question please?
The problem i am getting is that currently the Process chain is running on the client server and is timing out!
is there a config setting or some other setting that is needed to stop it from timing out?

Please use the option Delete of overlapp requests process type
Take the following conditions as :
1) Only delete request from same DTP
3) Only Full DTP
3) Only Delete DTP requests from same souce
Selections are
Overlapping
Request date
Is in the current month
based on the month

How to manage the "no data" loading in process chain

Hi,
I want to load some master data in delta mode with a process chain. The treatment works good except in one case.
If I have no data selected during the extraction ( cause the system doesn't find any data matching with the delta field ), the process chain appears in red as if some problems was encountered instead of giving a traffic light green.
How is it possible to manage this case of treatment as a normal treatment ?

Using Settings -> Evaluation of Requests ->
if no data is available in the system, the request
select Green (is Judged to be successful). this will cause the load to be successful if Zero records are fetched and the Process chain will not fail.

Report on process chains using SEM-BPS

We are looking to develop a tool to:
1. Monitor data loads at the process chain level
2. Within in the same tool, enter error resolution /
action steps for all failed loads
3. Report out % of successful or failed loads, using the data captured by the tool.
We have studied the BW Tables rspcchain, rspcchainattr, rspclogchain, rspcprocesslog, rspclogs, rseventchain and
rspcchaint.
We are considering the following options:
1. Develop an ABAP report and allowing the process chain monitor to manually enter the error resolutions (Perhaps in a Z-Table)
2. Create an InfoCube in BW using the above tables and then write a query, but we can not allow the user to enter error resolutions in the query.
3. Create a transactional infocube in SEM-BPS using the above tables and use the input functionality of tansactional infocube to facilitate the error resolution report entry.
Can anyone suggest any alternate solution, or has anyone encountered similar requirement on project?
One more doubt to check: is there any way to create an infoobject with CHAR type to enter data with 1000 or more characters? Or is there any other alternative solution to it? The doubt is to take care of the text entry for the error resolution.

Just some thoughts:
Have you considered using document service in BW or even KM (Portal) technology rather than CHAR 1000+ fields? This would give you more flexibility also on the type of document.
For loading there are monitors available (based on tables like RSMONMESS). If you are interested in loads only (and not other process types), maybe using information from the BW load monitor could be beneficial (like RSMONMESS) rather than the process chain stuff.
Maybe it's even worth having an InfoObjekt with a resolution code that links to a document describing the resolution with a key and whenever there is a new solution available create a new key with a new document. That would be most beneficial for reporting (like how many times has this problem / resolution occurred and the like).

Dynamic data selection in process chain

Dear BW gurus,
I've an infocube 0PA_C01. I'm gettting data with data source 0HR_PA_0. Because of
time-dependency of personel data i should get the package month by month. SO I set the data selection parameter 0CALMONTH in data package.
0CALMONTH=200601-200601;
0CALMONTH=200602-200602;
My question is how can i use this data package in a process chain for automatically getting data each month without manually changing data selection parameter.

In the info-package after you have selected type '6' it will take you to the ABAP editor, please try the following code,

PSA to Multiple Data Targets in process chain

Hello All,
I am trying to create a process chain that loads data from an already loaded PSA to further targets. (Note that the infopackage to load from R/3 to PSA is in another process chain). I am using the "Read PSA and Update Data Target" process type. But it allows only one data target. I need to push the data to all the targets of that infosource. Do I have to put a process for each target? Or is there a work around? Please help.

Thank you for your detailed answer. I know that it is mostly not practical to have the InfoPackage and "Read from PSA" package in different local chains. However I am facing a situation where I need to create a chain that just extracts all the data from R/3 and loads it till PSA in BW (This is very time critical, so we do not wish to put any other processing in this chain). And in the second chain, we want to put further processing steps within BW. That is the reason, loading from PSA to ODS needs to be in a separate chain.
Another thing is the variant does have a field to enter Data Target, and that shows only the targets of InfoPackage, but allows me to select only one. However, I will go ahead and try with the Infopkg entry as you suggested.
But if you could just elaborate on why you said, I CANNOT have PSA to Targets in a separate chain, I would really appreciate it!

Everyday new records will be added into the excel sheets and we need to trigger all these files into the bw server through process chain automatically . As we have all these Excel files in the desktop.

Hi,
You cannot load flat files to BW automatically using process chains.
You have to upload them to Apllication server and point your Infopackage to the directory path of the flat file in application server. then process chains can load it.

Your problem will be solved if you use the Function Module "RSPC_API_CHAIN_GET_STATUS" instead of the function module "RSPC_API_CHAIN_GET_LOG".
The function module "RSPC_API_CHAIN_GET_STATUS" gives you the STatus of the process chain, when you pass the Chain Name and the Log ID.
If you get an output
G or F - Report that the Chain is Successfully Completed.
A - The chain is Currently running
R or X - Report that the chain has ended with Errors.
Sample code :
