Archiving in SAP 4.5b

I'm trying the archive process in our system. After modifying all Customizing settings and adding new variant and executing the archiving process, i found out that i have entered wrong parameters in the variant that i created. so i cancelled the process using end process.
I modified again the variant and when i'm trying to edit the Customization settings the parameter in the settings is disabled.
I want to ask how can i re-enabled this settings? Thanks in advance.

Hi, you have stopped/end the process. Now you want to archive with the correct variant selection criteria. For this to be successful, please first change the customising that you require and then in SARA--> re-create a new variant with the correct selection criteria to archive your data.
Please ensure that in t.code <file> you have maintained all the logical file path, fine name, pysical path's maintained properly.
I Hope your problem will be resolved.

  • Archiving in SAP PI

    Hello,
We are in process of archiving of SAP PI System.
The configuration of system is as below:
SAP Netweaver 7, SAP PI 7.0, Oracle 10g.
I checked the SXMSPMAST, and found that there are lots of entries which are in state ARCH.
    SQL> select count(*) from sappip.SXMSPMAST where ITFACTION = 'ARCH' and MSGSTATE = '003';
      COUNT(*)
      11772771
Hence i schedule the "ARV_BC_XMB_WRP*" job. This job is getting sucessfully completed also the corresponding "ARV_BC_XMB_DEL*" job is also getting complted ( checked output of each deletion job , it shows more than 10K messages deleted in each jobs.)
I think this mean that messages are archiving and getting deleted from database.
    But my concern are:
    1) On daily basis there are approx 35 deletion jobs are running, But none of the job's output includes table SXMSCLUP. and in our case this
is the biggest table in the database.
eg: output of one deletion job is as below (
Production Mode: Statistics for Deleted Data Objects
    Archive File Key 019170-006BC_XMB
Number of Deleted Data Objects 10.832
Deleted Database Space in MB 8,938
    - Tables 7,531
    - Indexes 1,407
    Type No. Description
    SXMSPEMAS 2.860 Integration Engine:
    Enhanced Message Queue (Master)
    SXMSPERROR 0 XML Message Broker:
    Message Queue (Incorrect Entries)
    SXMSPMAST 2.860 Integration Engine:
    Message Queue (Master)
    SXMSPVERS 8.580 Integration Engine:
    Message Version
All the output of deletion job ARV_BC_XMB_DEL includes only these table.
So does these jobs will archive/delete the data from SXMSCLUP?
or we need to schedule some other jobs for this
    2) Even though several archiving jobs are running ( The archiving job is schedule to run once daily ) there is not significent difference in
the count of ""no of messages for archiving" in the RSXMB_SHOW_STATUS. considering the message and adapter status.
( Count decrease by 30-40K/per day).if we consider proceeding with this speed, it will take huge amount of time to archive/delete messages.
Is there any workaround for this?

    Hi Mark,
I am checking the messages on ABAP stack. The messages are missing and i am sure as i compared the messages of two consecutive dates and also sure those two messages are missing. Messages are not found in the table as well.
I will check the notes, and proceed if i get to understand something.
Meanwhile, actually two interfaces are involved here Sales and Loyality. Will try to explain the flow.
The messages are in flow as shown above. All other messages are available only these two are missing highlighted in red.
As logging_sync=1 so they are persisting but when delete job is running its lost while all other are available according to the retention period(40 days).
    Do reply if anything strikes.
    Thanks!

  • Archiving to SAP Content Server/MaxDB: TCP/IP errors when deleting in paral

    Dear experts.
We are struggling to get the optimal setup for archiving to SAP Content Server using MaxDB. After running one or more archiving jobs for a few hours we suddenly loose connection to the Content Server, and we need to restart the content server before continueing. We long thought it was the logspace which was running full, but this was eliminated. Now it seems as the error occurs when 4 or more deletions jobs is running in parallel. (Write->Store->Delete).
The run-times on a typical archiving job for about 3 GB data would be W: 3000sec S:40sec D: 12000sec. In general the delete job takes about 3 times the write-job.
Everything seems fine until one suddenly get the TCP/IP error after some heavy archiving jobs.
Have anyone experienced anything like this, and are there any good ideas on how to avoid this?
Thank you very much for your inputs on this.

We were running 3 parallell delete jobs yesterday, and it all went fine until I started the 4th job, then all jobs stopped immediately. The KNLDIAG file at the exact time of the problem looks like this:

We have not yet looked at the tips regarding the windows errors, but will do that when we get the possibilty. In the mean time; do you read anything from this above? It looks like when several jobs are crashing at the same time there is one which has the "Time limit exceeded" and the rest TCP/IP error.
Could it possibly be the MAXUSERSESSIONS parameter, or are you still leaning towards something outside the database?

  • Download PDF File from Archiv to SAP Application Server

    Hi,
I need to download the PDF file from an NAST-Dataset (how is stored from the message via SAP ArchivLink) to the SAP Application Server.
    1) At first i read the Archiv-Link data via function module WFMC_GET_ARCHIVE_OBJECT_TYPE
    2) Then i get the Connection-Infos via function module ARCHIV_GET_CONNECTIONS_INT
    3) Now i read the file from archiv as table via function module ARCHIVOBJECT_GET_BYTES
    4) Save to the SAP Appl.Server via:
       - OPEN DATASET ld_dpfad FOR OUTPUT IN BINARY MODE
       - LOOP and TRANSFER lf_archivobject TO ld_dpfad.
       - CLOSE DATASET ld_dpfad.
In the dialog of NAST-Dataset (Messages) i can open the PDF-File without any errors (display originals). But after the filetransfer to the SAP Appl.Server i get the following errors during the file opening dialog from Adobe Acrobat Reader:
    - the embedded font u201CArialu201D cant to be extract
    - not enough data for the picture
The reader can display the PDF-File but only without the picture (Logo) and with alternative font.
The same transfer from archiv and sending as an attachement to the BOR-Object via function module SO_DOCUMENT_INSERT_API1 works very fine and without any errors.
Can any one please help me to solve this Issue?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Thomas

    Hello Keith,
    Many thanks for your answer.
In the past i didnu2019t need the BINARCHIVOBJECT-Parameter and so i overlook this option.
Now, the File looks a little bit different, but only in the STREAM-section.
During the Fileopen-Dialog i get only one message now - "not enough data for image" and the image will not displayed. The rest seems to be correct.
    The relevant coding is now:
      ld_doc_typ = pf_connections-reserve.
      CALL FUNCTION 'ARCHIVOBJECT_GET_BYTES'
        EXPORTING
          archiv_id                = pf_connections-archiv_id

OPEN DATASET ld_dpfad FOR OUTPUT IN BINARY MODE.

Where is the error for the image data?

  • Posting Line Items after Archiving in SAP

    Hi Experts,
I have a small query regarding SAP data archiving in Financial accounting data. I have archived Financial total records data for one fiscal year (2010), and that data is deleted from the SAP database. Now my client is trying to do catchup activity of posting some more new line items for the same fiscal year (2010), this data is not archived and available in the SAP database.
    My Question is:
    1. can client retrive both the data which is archived and not archived from the standard Transactions?
    2. If it is possible, can client will get the consolidated values of line items (which are retrived from database as well as archive files) in the report resulted in retrival process to secure the balance carryforward function?
Please let me know if there are any standard recommendations or a workaround techniques to meet this business requirment.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Irrshaad.

  • Migration of SAP DMS documents from RFC Archive to SAP HTTP Content Server

Can anyone verify the correct OSS for the migration of documents from an RFC Archive repository (non SAP) in SAP DMS to a SAP Content Server HTTP Repository. Most of the OSS notes seem to indicate HTTP to HTTP migrations or based storage category migrations.
Which is the most suitable for this?
Edited by: Athol Hill on Oct 30, 2009 2:35 PM

    Dear Athol,
If you want to move the originals from an archive or vault to a Content
Server, please use the DMS_KPRO_CONVERT and DMS_KPRO_CONVERT2 report I
would kindly ask you to see teh documentation on DMS_KPRO_CONVERT report

    necessary information.
This conversion program offers two possibilites:
    - Complete migration:
The meta data of the document info record and the checked-in original
application files are migrated together. The checked-in original
application files are transported into the storage catgories.
    - Step-by-step migration:
In the first step meta data is migrated. The original application files

  • Filenet Archive to SAP Migration - Problem with DMS_KPRO_CONVERT2

    Hi there
We seem to be having an issue with a Filenet RFC to SAP Content Server migration.
We run the report DMS_KPRO_CONVERT and eveything seems to run fine.
When we run DMS_KPRO_CONVERT2 to move the files, we seem to pick up an error:
File /saparchive/DV2/username (where username is my username) cannot be opened
In looking at what is happening, it seems to save the file to the filenet archive exchange directory as the username (with no file extension) however it seems that the system has problems accessing this directly to check the file in to the new repository again and fails.
If I manually check out the file and check it into the sap content server, there is no problem so it doesn't seem to be an issue that either the SAP content server or the filenet server is not accessible.
Any ideas what the issue could be?
    Regards,
    Athol

    Hi Athol,
You have marked this question as answered so can you please help me How you have overcome this issue?
Do we have to run both DMS_KPRO_CONVERT and DMS_KPRO_CONVERT2 reports while migrating DMS documents from Content server to other archive server?
    Thanks in advance!
    With Regards,
    Ajay

    Hi,
for uploading the photograph you need to do some customization.
    1. Initial customization
Execute transaction code OAQ1 and put X in all the boxes.
Execute t code OAB4 and schedule the job
Execute t code SPAD and configure an output device
Execute T code OANR and configure the number range
Execute T code OAGI and deactivate Print list management system
EXecute T code SA38 and execute program RAPARAM and check for rspo/archive_format and make sure it should have 2 assigned on it.
    2. Execute t code OAC0 and configure content repository
Execute t code OAC2 and make your document type
Assign JPG doc class to your doc type made in OAC2 in t code OAC3.
    3. Now go to transaction code OAD5 and configure your settings
Come to t code OAWD and upload all your scanned photo to SAP
I know the procedure is tedious and lenghthy but there is no way out.
If it helps you then reward it.
    Enjoy

  • Archive in SAP B1 8.81 PL06 - very small data reduction

Hi, I recently completed a data archive of 4 fiscal periods.  The database size used to be 47G, and is now 44G... Not much of a data reduction in my opinion.
Can anyone lead me into a direction where I can find out why the database wasn't reduced very much?  Did something not go right perhaps?  I'm stumped as to why our database is so huge still... We're running very low on disk space for the DB, and so I am really hoping to trim it down as much as possible.
    Thanks for any insight

    Thanks for your replies
We archived off 4 fiscal years.  The data reduction size was significantly small from the archive.  I will take a look into the amount after the growth spurt in 2009 - 2011, perhaps that's what's missing... But I took your advice, and did a database shrink based on SAP's recommendations, and it reduced the database size another 15G!
Thanks again to everyone for their kind support and insight!

  • Optical Archiving in SAP.

    Hi,
I am using OAC0 Transaction to point to a content server. Right now, I see that IXOS is the preferred and marketed CMS, by SAP. I would like to know, if there are any free CMS, out there like IXOS, for training purposes.
Once I get the Free Content Server Established in the system, I'd like to know, how i can connect to it successfully, via OAC0. and test it for sanity.
Also, I'd like to know, if it would be possible to link, a saved document in the CMS, to a Viewer, just like the IXOS Java Viewer, to see the Scanned and Archived image. I guess we use the OAAR, Transaction, but i don't really know how to customize it, in order to link it to a viewer. I see some methods, CARD, CDDW, CARF, which don't make too much sense to me right now.
    Regards,
    Owais...

    Aby,
SAP DMS is a module core embedded in SAP R/3 and works perfect if you are using tradional R/3
modules. You would go for SAP DMS if you want to leverage the enhanced and standard features of SAP such as document sharing across multiple objects, Archiving, Searching and other Internet scenarios.
If I understand correctly the documents which you would like to store are security documents which you would not potentially like to share with anybody with in the company. Also SAP HR is a stand alone module(with limited connectivity to other SAP areas) compared to traditional modules such as MM,SD,FI and PP.
Hence I think the best solution seems to be optical archiving which could be accomplished via an archive link interface to SAP ( Or a standard interface from HR) or other external vendor softwares such as livelink/doculink. Optical archiving is normally implemented with out SAP DMS.
Regarding linking to HR, you cannot maintain an object link directly however you need to modify certain objects to accomplish this.
I am completely unaware of HR DMS. I think it is better to check with SAP directly on this.

    Hai,
For copying from source to target place in Appl.server:
    REPORT  ytest_copy.
**********If you are using target filename which is exists already, it is overwritten by the new one***********
    DATA: v_ucomm(1000)  TYPE c.
    PARAMETERS: p_aname  TYPE salfile-longname DEFAULT 'E:\usr\sap\DIS\zin\file1.xml',
                p_fname  TYPE salfile-longname DEFAULT 'E:\usr\sap\DIS\zin\zback\file1xml'.
    v_ucomm = 'COPY'.
    CONCATENATE v_ucomm p_aname  p_fname INTO v_ucomm SEPARATED BY space.
    Execute the move command.
CALL 'SYSTEM' ID 'COMMAND' FIELD v_ucomm.
    For deleting file from Appl.Server:

  • Archiving in SAP XI

    Dear Folks,
In the transaction SPRO i find two kinds of check access
    1. for files in the file system and
2 . for stored files . what is the difference between them .
can XI carry out both XMl-based archiving and ADK based archiving.
is it necessary that the archiving directory should be present in the XI server itself or can it be present on some other machines in the network.
any kind of suggestion would be helpful .
    thanks & regards,
    Rahul.

    Hi Rahul,
    a) the check for access: Basically this option (if ticked) checks for the access (availability) of the particular archive file. If available, then you can select the particular file (or archive session) for performing some action (for example in deletion run)
    1. for files in file system :  this scenario is applicable when you have archived your data into file system and the archive files reside on the file system (in other words, you are not using any content server)
    2. for stored files : this is applicable when you have stored your archive files into some external content server using archivelink (or http content server)
As far as I know, its only XML based.
archiving directory can be present anywhere, just that you should be able to access it with proper permissions (for example a mapped drive)
    hope this helps,
    Naveen
