Archiving of XI messages
Hi All
I am doing archiving of messages. When I go to Tcode SARA and setelet object as BC_XMB and then clicks the management button --> I could find a lot of entries under Archiving sessions Marked for deletion . When I checked the same It is telling archive file not accessible. I guess come one has deleted these files from OS level. Please tell me how can I get rid of these messages from DB .

Archiving/Deleting Test Messages in SAP Solution manager
Hi,
We have configured Service Desk in our solution manager 7.0 with EHP1 system.
We have created test messages to test the configuration.
We need to delete these test messages which are appearing in T Code CRM_DNO_MONITOR.
We run the report "CRM_ORDER_DELETE" but the output is
Deletion of CRM Documents
The following document could not be deleted: 8000000259
Not possible to delete, a reference exists to a subsequent document
Number of documents deleted: 0
Number of documents not deleted: 1
So
We have followed the "Note 1329247 - Archiving Solution Manager Service Desk messages".
1)
a)Call transaction DNOTIFWL and set the deletion flag for the Service Desk message. The deletion flag corresponds to the system status I1076 (deletion flag).
b) Execute the report Z_DELETE_BASIC_NOTIFICATIONS
The above step we have executed successfully.
2)
In CRM
You cannot delete a service process in CRM. The service process must be archived.
Call transaction SARA and select the archiving object CRM_SERORD. Archiving involves three steps:
a) Initial run Report CRM_ARC_SERORD_CHECK
b) Write run Report CRM_ARC_SERORD_SAVE
c) Delete run Report CRM_ARC_SERORD_DELETE
in SARA T Code we have typed archiving object CRM_SERORD.
After this what to do??? How to proceed further.
Can any body suggest us the step by step procedure to archive these test messages.

You need to schedule a BGD job to execute this. You can do this from the SARA screen itself, clicking on the 'Job' button. Please refer:

Issue with Archiving & Deletion of messages in PI ,SXMB_MONI messages
Hello experts
I am working on Archiving & Deletion of messages in PI ,SXMB_MONI, i have fallowed all the steps which are avialable in /people/deepak.shah/blog/2010/04/22/archiving-deletion-of-messages-in-pi--part-2, but the messages still there in SXMB_MONI.
please help me to resolve this issue.
regards
chandraHi Krish
i have fallowed steps like....
in SXMB_ADM
>>>step 1: Define the interface for archivng and retnetion period
>>>step2):Schedule Archive Jobs,
after this i have checked the in SM37 the jobs got sheduled and released after that it showing finished.
>>>step3):ARV_BC_XMB_WRP<date> (archiving, step 1)
ARV_BC_XMB_DEL<date> (archiving, step 2)
here i am getting message like "0 XML messages got archived".
"0 XML message for deleated".
I have doubt in SXMBPMAST table here when i check the status of interface , ITFACTION field is containing the value INIT and if I understood correctly it job deletes only those messages where ITFACTION is set to DEL.
We are actually trying to delete the messages avoiding archiving but what I am seeing is we cannot delete error messages and for them we must have to go through archiving. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks

Archival/Deletion of messages in XI 3.0 SP23
Dear All,
We need to carry out a data deletion/purging activity at our XI box, where no archival/deletion policy has been incorporated ever. As a preparatory measure, I need to have some guidelines for the activities as under,
1. While defining an Archival policy, is there any recomendation from SAP or others that message archival exercise has to be carried out first, before proceeding with message deletion? To be more precise, can we directly delete/purge the messages without archiving them? What will be the impact of such an exercise on the XI system?
This point may sound confusing but the reality is that we do not have enough H/W to carry out an activity of Archival and Deletion.
2. What is the SAP recomendation/best practice in this regard?
3. Although we are defining the Archival/Deletion policy now, we need to purge data that is 3 years old and we do not require them any more. What would be the best practice to carryout this activity?
Thanks and regards,
Sugata BasuHi Sugatada,
is there any recomendation from SAP or others that message archival exercise has to be carried out first, before proceeding with message deletion?
No as per my knowledge..
can we directly delete/purge the messages without archiving them? What will be the impact of such an exercise on the XI system?
This wholly depends on requirement...if the data is too old...you can directly delete it..no need to archieve..
What is the SAP recomendation/best practice in this regard?
you can set these values which close to best practice...
Retention period for both synch and asynch
msgs without error awaiting deletion : 180 days
msgs without error awaiting archieving : 45 days
retention period for history entris for deleted msgs : 30 days
in XI we have 2 types of action:
(1) deletion of XML messages (without prior archiving)
(2) archiving of XML messages with subsequent deletion
SAP_BC_XMB_DELETE* for type (1)
SAP_BC_XMB_ARCHIVE* for type (2)

How can I automatically archive my text messages?
Is there a way to archive my text message conversations somewhere (iCloud, Gmail, Dropbox) and have them automatically sync at regular intervals?
Please note I'm talking about ongoing archival, not just restoring a backup.
Thanks for any tips. Not that I know of.
I use PhoneView (Mac) to periodically manually archive my texts. It does very nice PDFs which I then store in DropBox and Evernote. TouchCopy (Mac and Windows) does something similar. -
Archiving Smart Mailbox Messages
Is there a way to archive only the messages in a Smart Mailbox (alternatively, archive only selected messages).
Thank youWhy do I need to post a comment or a follow-up before I can mark a question as answered? That's silly.

I am trying to archive old mail messages so they do not cram up my inbox. In the past I have successfully created a new mailbox for old messages, given it a month and year, and dragged messages across – but I can no longer do this.
When I try to drag a message across, I get the message 'Error: the message "xxx" could not be moved to the mailbox "xxx" - On My Mac". Can anyone help me out?
Not being able to archive old messages means that I have hundreds of already read messages in the inbox which causes, I think, another problem. Every time I open the mail program and click on an unread message, I am told that "The message has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it". When I quit the mail program and go back in, the problem sorts itself, but this happens every time I check the mail and it is becoming quite frustrating!
Happy New Year to you all!
Regards, Mike
iMac Mac OS X (10.3.9)Does the same occur when using the Move To or Copy To command instead of dragging messages manually?
Every time I open the mail program and click on an unread message,
I am told that "The message has not been downloaded from the server.
You need to take this account online in order to download it".
This indicates an "overstuffed" mailbox issue which means the mailbox has approached or exceeded 1 GB in size (which is the recommended mailbox size limit for Jaguar and Panther Mail) or has some corruption.
An "overstuffed" mailbox issue can occur at any mailbox size but is more likely to occur as a mailbox approaches or exceeds 1 GB in size for Jaguar or Panther Mail.
Although your OS detail provided indicates you are running 10.3.9, you posted in the Mail & Address Book - Tiger discussions so I'm assuming you are running 10.3.9 and not Tiger.
Quit the Mail.app first and using the Finder go to Home > Library > Mail > this POP account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account) > INBOX.mbox.
Move the INBOX.mbox to the Desktop.
When relaunching Mail, a new INBOX.mbox will be created automatically by Mail within the account named folder. This will allow the Mail.app to function properly again and not risk losing any existing messages or new messages downloaded by the account while working on the old INBOX.mbox moved to the Desktop to recover the existing messages.
Control-click on the old INBOX.mbox moved to the Desktop and at the menu window that appears, select Show Package Contents.
Post back here listing the package content file names and size of each. -
Archiving Successfuly processed messages
Hi All
Problem Area = Not able to Archive Successfuly processed messages for Inbound messages.
I have to archive successfully processed messages both Outbound messages and Inbound messages.
I am going into SXMB_ADM --> Define Interfaces for Archiving and Retention Periods
Under this I have added my Sender Interface and Receiver Interface details and defined retention period too (details added for both outbound messages and Inbound Messages).
Now the problem I am facing is -
The messages which are coming from R3 to XI means Outbound messages w.r.t R3 are successfully getting archived and I cannot see messages older then 3 days.
But the messages which are going from XI to R3 means Inbound messages w.r.t R3 are not successfully getting archived and I can see data for last year also.
Can any body please suggest me what could be the reason behid this.

Dheeraj kumarHi
Number of messages already flagged for archiving
- Messages to be archived: 0
Number of archived messages that can now be deleted
- Messages to be deleted: 0
According to report 0 messages are to be archived but Today I have configured one scenario under Define Interfaces for Archiving and Retention Period. After defining there I scheduled the archive job. Now when I am checking messages for ths scenario I can see all messages still lying there in moni.
For scenarios IDOC to file archiving is working and for scenarios FILE to IDOC its not working. Something is wrong but where not able to identify.

Dheeraj Kumar -
I dragged and dropped approx 1000 messages from 2013 to a folder called '2013' in Archives and every message replicated 22 times. Now as I try to delete 21 of those messages 210 copies are appearing in trash!
I have compacted folders. I have deleted 'global-messages-db.sqlite' several times to force a re-index. It's still happening - I am drowning in messages!
Running Mac OS X and Thunderbird 31.1.2An update - I fixed my problem by creating a new folder within Archives, then copying (drag & dropping) one of each of the 22 copy messages. Then when I had completed that, deleting the '2013' folder entirely. This worked where deleting 21 of 22 messages within the 2013 folder didn't.
I suppose the problem was something within that 2013 folder - it would be satisfying to have some idea what that might have been.

Archiving vs Deleting messages in PI/XI
Hi, I have successfully set up archiving on the PI system. No separate delete jobs are running, only the delete job in the connection with the archive process.
The questions is, will archiving delete and keep the DB from growing as good as the delete jobs would? Yes, the archive files need some space on the filesystem, but it seems that only archiving is enough to keep PI in a healthy state concerning the DB size. Am I correct?Hi,
In XI All the data are transferred in form of messages and it may necessary to Archive data for future references .When we do the Archiving all the processed messages will be out of system and also it improves the performance. In General Rule the messages are multiplied into 10 times when compared to data which is sent,(Ex. If the data is 1 MB, the size of the message will be 10 MB.
Messages that have been processed correctly are deleted by default. You must archive all messages that are not to be deleted. Since correctly processed messages are flagged as either To Be Archived or To Be Deleted (and because this indicator cannot be changed), you must decide which messages you want to archive before the first message is processed.
History entries are spots for observing XML message processing. They are generated by persisting at the end of a processing step for an XML message and contain the current status and the execution date.
History entries remain in the database for an unspecified length of time and must be deleted at some stage so that the database table does not overflow. The deletion process only deletes history entries for XML messages that have already been archived or deleted. The history entry is kept in the database for at least seven days after an XML message has been deleted. This is necessary since history entries are also required for the quality of service Exactly Once.
The default retention period is 30 days.

Archiving Older Email Messages in Apple Mail
Hi,
I have searched here and the Internet, but I can't find an answer.
I am using OS X 10.8.2 and Mail 6.2. I have emails dating back to 2008. I want to clear out my Inbox so, I was hoping that I could archive my old emails, but still have them available (or easily restore-able) should I need them.
I created smart mailboxes by year, 2008, 2009, etc. I was hoping that I could archive each smart mailbox and then delete the emails from my Inbox. However, it doesn't look like Mail will allow me to do that. I tried right-clicking the smart mailbox, but there is no archive option. If I highlight the smart mailbox the 'Archive' option under the Message Menu is grayed out.
There must be a way that I can accomplish archiving in Apple Mail.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
PaulIf you're not using IMAP, Mail is still communicating with the mail server, so even if you see those types of messages, nothing abnormal is going on. There's no such thing as invisible email, so if there were really anything being sent or downloaded, you'd see it.

I know these kinds of questions are asked a lot, but I just wanted to ask my specific question for a nice specific answer.
I understand Gmail's thoughts on archiving and labels, but it makes gmail a beast to work with on mail clients. I FINALLY have everything set up perfectly on my Mac's Mail app so that everything syncs and I get no duplicate messages.
The only issue I have is that when I highlight emails and press the "trash" icon in the toolbar (and hit the delete key I assume) the message(s) is/are archived in the All Mail folder instead of going into the "Trash" folder. The only way I can truly delete messages is to drag and drop them into the Gmail/Trash folder in the side bar, which can get tedious.
Is there anyway to set the "delete" icon and delete key to actually send messages to the trash instead if archiving without causing syncing issues, or do I just need to stick with the drag and drop method?
Thank you.
Respectfully,

Archiving Adapter Engine Messages
For AE we have implemented the Archiving:
The steps for AE we took are as follows:
1. Created archive store, and after that done home path synch and assigned it to an archive path.
2. created the archiving background job in RWB with rules and have default delete job in place.
Archiving job is running once in a day. But Default persistance duration of messages in AE is 30days.
Here I have some confusions in understanding the core logic.
1. Whether messages which have completed their 30 days of life will be archived ?
2. or messages which have completed 1 day of life will be archived(Since archive job runs every day) ?
3. I have seen Archive and delete jobs have different run times, even though delete job didn't completed yet, archive job
is deleting the messages from database. Why it is happending like that ?
4. Does we need both the archive and delete jobs or archive job alone is fine ?
Thanks
kumarKumar,
Here are my thoughts.
1. Whether messages which have completed their 30 days of life will be archived ? - NO
2. or messages which have completed 1 day of life will be archived(Since archive job runs every day) ? - YES
3. I have seen Archive and delete jobs have different run times, even though delete job didn't completed yet, archive job
is deleting the messages from database. Why it is happending like that ? -
Archive jobs will archive the files to the directory mentioned. you might not have access to the archive directories. i don't think the files will be deleted if you have specified Archive parameter.
4. Does we need both the archive and delete jobs or archive job alone is fine ?
Archive jobs alone is fine, if you have a specific directory to hold archive msgs.
