Archiving on APP WORLD Deletes Application from Device..

Hi,
No response on the App World section so I thought I'd try here...
For the first time I'm having real trouble with App World.  With the newest version 1.1.0.20, when I choose to archive an application (because I quickly run out of device memory) it deletes the application from my device.  The icon disappears and everything.  It's making it so I don't have the memory necessary to run my device.  I've already uninstalled and re-installed App World a couple times, re-booted the device etc., and nothing is changing.  What's the deal?
Thanks!!

using the internal memory is not a problem except for people that install too many applications or store too much emails. That's why RIM does nt address that issue.
no patch or update available (too much of a hastle to deal with applications on a removable part. Imagine on your PC, installing some applications on a removable disk. The day you remove the disk, nothing works correctly anymore !
But there is a very usual way of dealing with that issue : buy a newer model device, and you'll have more internal memory. The Pearl Flip has 128MB. The Bold has 1024MB. The Storm has 1024MB.
Unfortunately this rather misses the mark.   The memory on all but the very newest devices is so ridiculously small that even a couple of apps will cause memory problems.   Until competitor iPhone came along RIM had been resistant to the idea of anything but business messaging for it's devices. The fact that Pearls fly off the shelf demonstrates how wrong they were to ignore a huge part of the market for so long.   RIM seems to recognize that people actually want apps with thier newest offerings but so far has left the rest of us out in the cold.
Installing apps to memory cards is not a big problem for the device.   Pocekt PC's have have had this for years.  Yes you have to leave the card in for the program to work but this is still superior to being stuck with the manufacturers arbitrary decision on how much memory space you need in your own phone.  Power users who squeeze the most out of their devices can need a lot of memory.
Hopefully RIM will accomodate this in a software update for those who donpt wish to drop hundreds on new devices every few month as RIM slowly adds features. Until then I will be looking for third party work arounds.

If you mean from your purchased list, you can't.  The app store keeps a permanent list of your previous purchases so you can redownload them if desired.

  • "permanently" deleting applications from a device?

Hi have deleted many application from my iPad & iPhone due to storage constraints.  When I use the "update all feature" in iCloud, it reloads those applications on my devices, even though I chose to delete all files associated with the application.
I'm running into problems downloading the new update because of storage constraints.
Any suggestions besides buying a bigger device?

Many large apps such as photoshop install many support files throughout the root library which are rather tedious to remove by hand, however for most small apps... especially the ones you have dragged and dropped into the apps folder are quite easy to remove.
Once you have remover the actual app itself all of the associated files that are created as you;ve used it are located in your home library
    Users/Your Name/Library
every app makes a .plist file (containing the apps preferences) these are located in
    Users/Your Name/Library/Preferances
The other two most common places for associated files are
    Users/Your Name/Library/Application Support
    Users/Your Name/Library/Caches
you need to look for the name of the app and or company, the caches and app support for each app are usually contained within directories in these paths. Simply delete these. alternatively most of the app support and caches take up relatively little space and the .plist take almost nothing, so you could leave them incase you want to reinstall the app in the future... retaining preferences.

I upgraded blackberry app world. After upgrading, blackberry app world icon disappeared. I had a look at the software application list and blackberry app world is not listed. How do i resolve this problem?!
    BLACKBERRY BOLD 9780

That's strange because updating it shouldn't delete it.  Anyway, it appears that's what happened so let's get it back for you.
It's as simple as going to your phone's browser and typing www.blackberry.com/appworld .  Presto, problem solved!
    I hope that helps you.

  • How to delete applications from mac pro?

I think many people struggling at "How to delete appalications from Mac pro ,just because you made some mistakes or curious !" I know it is a bit difficut for people who are new users for the Mac .
If you really don't want them ,you can delete them easily,
As all you know after you download appalications from anywhere  ,it could be from apple app store or from other websites. They all can be disspeared if you don't like them .
First , If you installed from apple app store  it will be really easily  just click at the app on the launchpad, after few seconds all the apps will be all shaking like leaves ,yes they are scared .(No No  don't delete me  I am helpful !) Ok yes  that is a little joke ! so what you can see now there is a small "x" at the top right corner .Can you see them ? just click the "x" And they will gone .
Second step. This is only for you downoaded from other websites , In that case  , you just skip first step come to here  in order to save you some golden time .
You can delete them from the launchpad , I have tried many times . i tried to drug them in the the trash . But after them all jump back to where they are , So you need to open the Finder ---> click the download -----> find the file which is belong to the app (make sure ) ------->click it  -----> drug it into the trash. then you can hear a little sound like you through it into the bin. it is really humanny  isn't it ? then go back to the finder again .---->click the application -------> find the icon on there which is you just drag into the trash.  do it again . take this one into the trash as well  then you will find the icon on the launchpad is disppeared . at the end don't forget to empty your trash   After that all job done , it is been deleted  ,
    Well done !
Hope this could help all of your!
    Thanks for reading !

  • Keeping only some music, or deleting playlists from device?

    Hi all,
I have 16 GB of music on my iPhone after I turned on iTunes Match.  I want to delete most of it, but there are some songs that I want to keep on the device.  This has been much more difficult than I thought.  I've been having this issue ever since I subscribed to iTunes Match when it was finally stable enough to work on my music library (about 10 months after subscribing, around 6 months ago).
The reason I want to keep some songs is because a large part of my music is in lossless format, and I listen to it on high quality audio systems and can easily tell the difference between 256kbps AAC and CD quality.  The CD quality sounds much better, and I definietly want to keep about 5 GB of music in this format on the iPhone, as I listen to this music even at home with my iPhone plugged into my receiver or over AirPlay.  If I delete my entire music library on the iPhone and download the songs again, they will be downgraded in quality.  I've done a lot of research about this, so I'm sure this is the case, unfortunately.
So now I have to manually delete about 1000 songs (out of ~1400) from my iPhone music library.  What's worse is that I have almost as many artists and albums as I do songs, the nature of the music genres I have - rarely are there albums or more than 2 or 3 songs from just one artist without it being a remix by another.  This means I can't just go through different arists or albums and delete the ones I don't want.  It has to be songs.  Plus I am not good with the names, so I have to listen to the song before I know whether to delete it.  The songs I want to keep are easier to identify, but unfortunately I can't just choose them.
I could create a playlist of all the songs I want to keep, but there is no option to delete songs from all other playlists.  In fact, there is no option to delete all the songs within a playlist, or even delete a song from a playlist itself!  All my music is organized by playlists, so it's easier to find the songs to delete by navigating through playlists, rather than the flat list of 1400 songs.  The only way to delete a song from there is to open the playlist, play a song, then click the top right icon to show the album where it will usually show just the one song (as I have about as many "albums" as I do songs), and only then can I swipe and delete the song.
This is a huge hassle, and I have been doing this to free up space on my iPhone.  I have about 32MB free, and before I can download an app, get an update, or even check my mail, I have to go and find more songs to delete through this method.  After deleting about 10 songs, I have enough space to continue using the phone for about a week or two.  But I just don't have the time to go and do this for 1000 songs!!!
When I plug the phone into the computer, I can see all the songs in iTunes.  I wish I could just select the songs (for some reason I can't change the sort order, which is a pain), and delete them.  But iTunes won't let me!
    Popcorn Break      Font Change
I checked how long it's taking me with the current method.  I have 1400 songs (on the device) in 85 playlists, taking up 16 GB.  I want to keep about 350 songs, around 5 GB I'm guessing.  This is an estimate, because I only know which songs I want to keep when I hear them, or by which playlist they are in.  It's easier to find the songs that I want to keep, but instead I must to delete the songs I don't want to keep, as that's the only way Apple allows it.
It takes about 6 seconds to navigate to the song (on average, navigating through playlists), about 10-20 seconds to play it, and 3 seconds to delete it.  That's about 25 seconds per song.  With 1000 songs, that's 25,000 seconds = 7 hours of work!!  And that's continuously doing this, which isn't even possible as sometimes I get stutters or random freezes for a few seconds before the iPhone is operational again (background apps/notifications?).
Even if I could select multiple songs within a playlist, or use iTunes to delete, it might not be much faster.  Let's say it takes as long as 5 minutes to evaluate a playlist and select songs to delete from the playlist.  With 85 playlists, that would be 85 * 5 = 425 minutes = 7 hours!  Now if I could do it as fast as 1 minute per playlist, which might be possible with iTunes (e.g. it has Select All or allows you to delete an entire playlist on just the device, without affecting iTunes Match), it would only take 1.5 hours, which is reasonable.
But it's still somewhat ridiculous having to spend an entire workday just to salvage ~350 songs.  If I could "tick" and select these songs that I want to keep via iTunes, I think it would take me about 5-7 seconds in the worst case if I have to listen to the song.  I usually know the name of the song that I want to keep, so it would be faster, but even if it did take 6 seconds on average, that would be 6 * 350 = 2125 seconds = 35 minutes.  Now that's more reasonable!
If anyone has any suggestions to speed up or make this process easier, I'd really appreciate it.  Otherwise I'll struggle with waiting for a better solution while in the meantime spending 5-10 minutes deleting a few songs every week.  At this rate, I estimate I'll finish in 100 weeks.  This doesn't sound that bad actually, but it'll probably get more and more difficult finding the songs I don't want since there will be a higher ratio of songs I want to keep vs. not.  So it might be closer to 5 years (or I'll have to spend more than 5-10 minutes per session), at which point I'll hopefully have a 256 GB iPhone and don't have to worry about running out of space, especially with a measily 16 GB of music.  I'm tired of the running out of space warnings ever since I got my first iPhone (64 GB).
Thank you everyone!  For listening, and any advice you can give!

This is a good idea.  Somehow I forgot about it, as I haven't been using the computer I used to sync my iPhone with for like a year.  I stopped thinking about syncing when everything moved to iCloud.  However, I still do have access to that computer (sort of - it doesn't have a monitor right now), and more importantly the original music files that I want to transfer!  I remember this was my original idea when I first signed up for iTunes match and wrote it down somewhere, but forgot about this plan.  Probably because it took months to get the feature working in the first place.
I was scared to turn off iTunes Match once I got everything working, as I didn't want to go through all the hassle again.  So whenever I plug in my iPhone, it wouldn't let me manage my music.  It seems to be much more stable now, so I suppose I can just disable it on the iPhone.  I can keep it enabled on the computer, right?  Then I sync the playlists that I want, and it should delete anything not selected on the iPhone.  Hopefully once it's done and I turn iTunes Match back on, it'll go back to working smoothly.
Thanks, Michael.  I forgot about transfering the music from the original source.  I'm getting used to how powerful these iOS devices are nowadays that I forget you can't do everything with them, that more complex operations are better done on the desktop, but in a specific way.
I still think that iTunes should let you delete music straight off the iPhone when it's plugged in.  But that's another issue.

  • How do I delete applications from MacBook Pro

I need to free up space in my SSD drive.  How do I delete unused applications from MacBook Pro

    Hey shethompson,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you want to uninstall an application. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.
OS X Yosemite: Install, update, and uninstall apps
Apps downloaded from the Mac App Store: Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock, hold down an app’s icon until all the icons begin to jiggle, then click an app’s delete button . If you later want the app, you can reinstall it from the Mac App Store.
If an icon doesn’t have a delete button, it can’t be uninstalled in Launchpad. For more information about Launchpad, see Use Launchpad to view and open apps.
Apps that have an uninstaller: In the Finder sidebar, click Applications. If an app is inside a folder, it might have an Uninstaller. Open the app’s folder. If you see Uninstall [App] or [App] Uninstaller, double-click it and follow the onscreen instructions.
Apps that don’t have an uninstaller: In the Finder sidebar, click Applications. Drag the app from the Applications folder to the Trash (located at the end of the Dock), then choose Finder > Empty Trash.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a great day,
    Mario

  • Deleting Photos from Device with iCloud Photo Library

How do I delete photos locally from my device when I'm using iCloud photo library? Whether I'm deleting from the Photos tab or Albums > All Photos, I see the same "this photo will be deleted from iCloud photo library on all devices" message. How can I delete the photo from my device, but keep it in the iCloud photo library? Currently, my photos tab and all photos album are exactly the same... whats the difference between these features? Thanks!

iCloud Photo Library is currently only for iOS devices, but it disables syncing with the Mac. It is simply not yet ready.
iCloud Photo Library is still a beta version. (See: iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ) The Mac part has not yet been released, but will be available early next year. We do not know yet, what the Mac part of iCloud Photo Library will be like. The Photos.app for Mac will be able to upload to iCloud Photo Library.  If you simply wait till early next year, it will be the easiest transit. Then you will be able to migrate iPhoto Libraries and Aperture Libraries to Photos and store the photos in iCloud.
Right now, if you enable iCloud Photo Library Beta on your mobile devices, the usual ways to upload photos from your Mac will be disabled. It will no longer deposable to sync photos with iTunes, and you cannot upload using My Photo Stream.
To upload photos from the Mac to iCloud Photo Library, mail the photos, put them in your DropBox, or use the uploader on the beta.cloud page (in the photos beta app):  https://beta.icloud.com

I have bought and downloaded free apps, from itunes, and can't delete them. Now I was able to remove them from itunes, but they are still showing up on my iphone. What am I doing wrong, or what do I need to do?

Press any icon of any app you want to delete from your phone, keep pressing until all the icons start to wiggle, an X will appear on the icon, tap the X and the app will be deleted. Press the home button to stop the icons from wiggling, when done.
