ArchWiki and ArchServer wiki

Well, first a short introduction for thoses who don't know ArchServer yet. It is Arch Linux but less bleeding edge, more secure, and more stable (or at least we're trying to make it so ).
We have our own wiki : ArchServer Wiki
I would like to start a cross-thread discussion about the duplication of the documentation, a thing we're trying to avoid. The begining of the discussion can be found here : http://bbs.archserver.org/viewtopic.php?id=13
I believe most of the people behind ArchServer have an account here, it is probably easier to continue in this thread. I would like hear opinions about what should be in ArchServer Wiki, what should be in ArchWiki, since it's a matter that concerne both projects.

The two big ones I can think of are: Postfix and SELinux.  Neither of these are exclusively for a server but are usually used as such.  SELinux (and it's packages in the AUR) are being regularly maintained by Nicky.  SELinux documentation is still just the basics but does cover all the important parts.  Since I don't use Postfix I'm not sure of the state for the Postfix documentation.

  • How to customize / edit wiki theme in content_entry.xsl file to display tags for blog pages and not wiki pages?

I am trying to customize a wiki theme by displaying the "Edited Today at… by…" for only blog pages and not wiki pages.
I tried editing the content_entry.xsl with an xsl if tag, but failed.

Ill try that today. i tried something similar with sshd and looked at the verbose output of the program when trying to connect remotely. it was never touched, like no one tried to connect. i feel like its a network security issue since i can connect locally. but ill check these logs as well

  • Convert pdf files into wiki pages, and export wiki pages as word and pdf files

I am working on an enterprise wiki site collection inside my SharePoint server 2013. And there was a requirement to automatically generate wiki pages from word documents. As I read that the built-in service within SharePoint does not support importing the
pictures within the word documents. So I looked into 3rd party tools and I settle on the “Kaboodle Word to Wiki” link
which will manage to convert word docs into wiki pages, with only minor layout problems.
But I want to know if there are additional tools which support the following:-
Converting pdf files to SharePoint wiki pages.
Exporting SharePoint wiki pages into pdf and word documents?
    Regards

I haven't seen any third party tool converting pdf files to SharePoint wiki pages and and exporting SharePoint wiki pages into pdf and word files.
You need to write custom feature where you can use iTextSharp pdf for pdf conversion. you can also check below blog which shows the export of SharePoint Wiki to Word/PDF without 3rd party tools:

  • Where can i claim my warranty? Iphone5s bought last nov.2014 and 2 wiks ago found out the hard drive is defective

hi! My sister bought me an iphone5s 16gb in US last november and send it to me here in the philippines same month also. But last december my iphone got no signal searching only. I go to switch authorized apple center and they checked it and found out that the hard drive is defective due to updated OS8. My question is where and how can i claim my warranty since im
here in the phils., and i can't go there in the US to replace my iphone into new one.. Pls help Me..here's my contact no.
< Personal Information Edited By Host >

That's why Apple Store works in every country. The only way you can get your warranty working is by sending it back to the US so they can send a replacement or do whatever they need to do. Get it to your closest Apple Store
    From https://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone and iPad to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.
Edit: "If you seek service in a country that is not the original country of purchase, you will comply with all applicable import and export laws and regulations and be responsible for all custom duties, V.A.T. and other associated taxes and charges. Where international service is available, Apple may repair or replace Apple Products and parts with comparable Apple Product and parts that comply with local standards."

  • My AD users are randomly losing access to wikis that they are members of and were previously able to login to.

I have had a more or less successful AD/OD integrated setup for a couple of years (currently running SL Server 10.6.8) which I implemented in order to use Podcast Producer and Apple Wikis.  Recently and for no apparent reason, I have had users lose access to wikis they are members of, even though they are still listed as members of the given wiki.  While over the last couple of years I would periodically get a user whose account would not work with a wiki, this was always immediatly apparent; I've never had an instance where the AD account worked for a period of time and then spontaneously stopped working. Meanwhile, other AD users who are members of the same wiki are still able to access it successfully.  In all cases, users are still able to successfully login to "My Pages", though the wiki they are a member of is no longer visible.  Using the URL for thei wiki simply results in a "you do not have permission to access this wiki" message.  I have already run "dsmemberutil flushcache" which has on occasion restored access for users in the past; however, that is not rectifying this particular issue at this time. Any suggestions as to how I might troubleshoot this?

Two things that I would immediately check:
    1. Run Disk Utility's Repair for each of the server's volumes. One or more of your server volumes that houses a share point may have filesystem damage that needs to be fixed. This may be the result of an underlying hardware failure of one or more of its disks.
    2. Examine your network configuration. You may have a network cable that's wired incorrectly somewhere on your subnet. I've actually seen this sort of thing cause random disconnections. Mac OS X Server is pretty particular about having a clean network! Check your switches, routers, and gateways for errors or simply reboot them.
A look in the system.log file using Server Admin or Console on the server may provide clues as to what happened at the disconnection time.

  • How many wikis and blogs can a user have?

I recently set up web services. It is true that each user can create one blog and multiple wikis (how many wikis)? This is how it appears at the initial setup. I want to make sure I'm giving the correct information to my users.

The available rows depends on your available RAM, complexity of equations, etc.. A large spreadsheet with numbers would be very slow. My machine (with 2 GB RAM) conks out with spreadsheets with about 20,000 rows.

I made a Chromium (Google Chrome) Extension to search the package database, AUR, and the wiki.
You can search from the extension's icon or by right-clicking on highlighted text. (I've found this feature the most useful)
There are many configurable options in the Extension's option page and by default it will not search AUR or Wiki only the Package Database.
You can download the extension from Google here: https://chrome.google.com/extensions/de … nbhk?hl=en
Or you can get the source here and pack the extension yourself: https://github.com/FunctionVoid/ChromeArchPackageSearch

  • Upgrade to ML10.8.2 Server kills Wikis and leaves Calendars unusable

    Hi there,
I upgraded a few weeks ago Mac Server from 10.7 to 10.8 and lost almost all Wikis and have a crippled Calendar service. Although in the Server.app both services (Calendar, Wiki) are "on", when I click on the wiki page on "Wiki Settings" in the Configuration menu:
I get a greyed out Calendar option:
The calendar is running fine and I can access it via https, but the wiki server somehow cannot get to it.
Any help would be highly appreciated on both fronts: 1) the lost wikis  and  2) wiki calendars
    Thanks!

This was driving me nuts with since some users could not see the calendars I had set up for them under the "More" dropdown on the Wiki. It probably applies to the Wiki creator as well.
If you are using SSL and have a certificate, you MUST log into the Wiki pages with https://<server URL> for you to see the calendar. http:// does not seem to work with calendar at all.

  • Use L2TP/IPsec or SSL for Wiki and Blog?

Here comes another, slightly embarrising, newbie question…
The only service I am setting up on the server is the Wiki and Blog. We will only connect to the server through the internet (no public access). There are no clients on the inside.
Now trying to decide which external firewall to buy.
Since the only service is the Wiki and Blog, I would spontaneously think that SSL VPN is good becase then we can log in through our web browsers and the Wiki and Blog is to be viewed with the web browser.
To me it looks like quite a number of firwalls doesn't support SSL VPN (NetGear, D-link, Zyxel).
I have never used VPN PPTP- or L2TP/IPsec-style. Can I use the web browser still with these protocols to see the Wiki and Blog?
    Cheers,
    HindIII

I have been reading and reading, but there seems to always be room for "what do they mean by that" or "if they don't write it, its not possible", hehe.
The NetGear FVX538 states in its specifications "VPN/security: IPsec (ESP, AH), MD5, SHA-1, DES, 3DES, IKE, PKI, AES" and for the FVS336G it says "VPN/security: IPsec (ESP), IKE, PKI, HTTPS"
Even the full names of the firewalls are, to me, somewhat descriptive: "Prosafe Dual WAN VPN Firewall with 8-port 10/100 Switch FVX528" vs. "Dual Wan Gigabit SSL VPN Firewall FVS336G".
One can also compare Zyxels "ZyWall 5" and ZyWall SSL 10".
When I read the manuals, some hardly mention SSL while others (that often are called SSL in their names) have longer sections on how to set up SSL VPN.
    Thanks MrHoffman for your input.
I hope I soon can decide which external firewall to get. Spontanously, to me it sounds like the built in firewall in 10.6 Server got pretty good specifications. One can do both PPTP and L2PT with Kerberos that is written to be excellent (according to Daniel Eran Dilger, writer of "Snow Leopard Server"). Then I get stuck in searching for Kerberos solutions in the external firewalls, never finds that.
It seems like I need someone to tell me exactly what to get and exactly what protocols to use :o) I wich I knew as much about servers as I do about my normal profession, hehe.

    teshlachris,
iTunes, like other applications, will sometimes have issues trying to install from a different admin user than the one used to first install it.
Did your son install iTunes with a different account? If so, your previous post did not include the fact your son had previously installed iTunes, or I would have suggested trying the install while logged in under his account.
    Hope this helps,

I did a clean install of Lion/Lion Server, but I ran ino the same problem too with "Error Reading Settings" for both the profile manager and the wiki.
INVESTIGATION: I checked to see if the postgres database (which I presumed was were the settings were being read from).
    # sudo serveradmin fullstatus postgres
    postgres:dataDirHasBeenInitialized = yes
    postgres:PG_VERSION = "9.0.4"
    postgres:dataDir = "/var/pgsql"
    postgres:postgresIsResponding = no     # !!! why isn't it responding???
    postgres:dataDirIsDirectory = yes
    postgres:PGserverVersion = 0
    postgres:dataDirExists = yes
    postgres:setStateVersion = 1
    postgres:state = "RUNNING"
PROBLEM: The postgres service hadn't been started properly; I found this by doing the following:
    # sudo serveradmin stop postgres
    postgres:state = "STOPPED"
    # sudo serveradmin start postgres
    postgres:error = "CANNOT_START_SERVICE_TIMEOUT_ERR"
FIX: The postgres service couldn't create the log file because it didn't have permission. I did this to fix it, then simply restarted it and all was well:
    # sudo chmod 777 /Library/Logs/
    # sudo serveradmin start postgres
    postgres:state = "RUNNING"
    I hope this helps someone.

  • Moved Wikis, they sill appear in welcome/page What's Hot and Recent Changes

I followed these excellent instructions for moving some wikis between groups. In the OLD group, however, the wiki pages' old URLs are listed in the What's Hot and Recent Changes sections.
How can I remove these old dead URLs from these lists?

    Hi there,
You can log in as the owner of the group and "see" an admin section at the bottom of the sidebar for settings. On this settings page you can customize the upper right sidebar section to respond to a particular tag and you can title this section.
If you want further customization than the settings admin allow, I think you will have to delve into the javascript that makes this page dynamic to the user. In which case only work in Library/Applications Support/Apple/WikiServer and work on copies of the templates. Otherwise the _teamsserver user may not be able to function and your wikis will be offline.
One other thought that I have been experimenting with is to start a TOC(Table of Contents) page and enter pages by their links. The links menu selection in the editor will show any of the group site web pages by title to select from making this process a little more intuitive. For some reason I find my users who are afraid of the web, very reluctant to use tags or even try the search feature which is very good.
If you come up with a workaround your users commit to please pass along for the rest of us to try.
    HTH,
    Harry
