ARD 3.3 and Windows 7 clients running "UltraVNC" -- how to set the "Name"?
Maybe you just can't do this, but if you can, I'd like to know how...
I have UltraVNC installed on my Windows 7 machine. I can happily connect to it with ARD Admin 3.3.2
However, the "Name" of the VNC client only shows as it's full hostname (which is how I added it).
The "Manage --> Rename Computers" menu option doesn't seem to work with my VNC connections.
Is there some way to configure the ARD admin program to give a "real name" for VNC clients?
Like manually editing a .plist file or something?
Thanks!
the "Manage --> Rename Computers" menu option doesn't seem to work with my VNC connections.
None of the commands in ARD will work with Windows clients, only with Macs. The only thing you can do with a Windows client is observe and control the system.
Is there some way to configure the ARD admin program to give a "real name" for VNC clients? ''
To the best of my knowledge, no, ARD will only show the domain name of the VNC client.

Using bootcamp and windows 7 no internet connection - how to solve the problem ?
If anyone has ideas on how to get internet working it would be a great help. I'm running windows 7 in bootcamp mode and it says I have no available wireless connections. Yet when running in iMac mode Safari works fine?
When you created the bootcamp partition it should have required to you to burn downloads from apple to a disk or usb. I had the same problem until I put that disk in and installed it.

Problems with Solaris 10 Secure Desktop server and Windows XP Client
Solaris 10 Secure Desktop server - Windows XP Client - I've tried to open the Solaris Machine's desktop using the browser based http://MysolarisServerName/sdg and the windows native client
http://MySolarisServerName/tarantella.
I log in ok to the Solaris Server.
I can open a VT420 session with the solaris machine, and this works OK, but whenever I try anything else e.g. smc, or full screen desktop it doesn't. I get various error messages e.g. can't open display, and Session Failed - X Session timeout.
I've also installed Cgywin X Server on the Win XP machine to see if this makes a difference, but it doesn't.
Any clues anyone?Being able to run the VT420 session, but not any X-Window sessions is the clue; it's an X-specific problem. Most likely, ssh isn't configured correctly, see: http://docs.sun.com/source/819-4309-10/en-us/base/indepth/ssh.html
Pasting in the (most) relevant bit:
Adding support for X applications
To support X applications through OpenSSH, enable X11 forwarding in the OpenSSH configuration file. On each Secure Global Desktop host:
1. Edit the sshd_config file and include the following:
X11Forwarding yes
2. Edit the ssh_config file and include the following:
ForwardAgent yes
ForwardX11 yes
3. Restart the SSH daemon.
Using SSH and X authorization
If SSH connections fail, when X authorization is enabled, you may have to run the SSH daemon in ipv4-only mode because Secure Global Desktop may not support the xsecurity extension used on your server. You enable ipv4-only mode by editing your system SSH configuration file. For example:
* On SUSE Linux, edit the /etc/sysconfig/ssh file and add a SSHD_OPTS="-4" line.
* On Red Hat Enterprise Linux, edit the /etc/sysconfig/sshd file and add a OPTIONS="-4" line.
Note If the SSH configuration file does not exist on your system, you can create it.
You must restart the SSH daemon after making this change. -
I updated my Itunes to the latest version(11.1.4) and it isn't running on my laptop. The current OS is a W7 ultimate 64bits, when i try to run it, opens a message box with the following error message: error 7 (windows error 1114) . What should I do?
Try the following user tip:
Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates -
Hi all, i can't sync over wifi between my iPhone 4 and Windows 7 64 bit, wifi sync works with the same phone and my Windows 8 machine so the problem seems confined to Windows 7. I've tried solutions from other threads -
Making sure everything is allowed through firewall
Rebooting phone/laptop/router
Disabling ipv6
Disabling all networks except the one curently on
Re-installing iTunes
Restoring iPhone
No luck with any of those unfortunately so i just thought i'd see if anyone else is still without wifi sync after trying those as well and if you ever found a fix, thanks.I just wanted to leave a note that it's working now. I'm not sure if it was the latest iTunes update that got it working or that i decided to start a new library instead of using the one i had backed up on Windows 8 (it didn't occur to me to check using the old library when i re-installed iTunes). But if anyone is having this problem, it might be worth trying again with a new installation of iTunes to see if the latest update works for you, and if not, try using a fresh library instead of a backup (by fresh library i mean discard your old library completely and start a new library, not just restore as new iPhone, a whole new library).

Hi - I'm trying to sync iBooks on my Macbook Pro with iBooks running on my iPad. I have some pdf's download from the net I want to share between devices and I can't work out how to sync the two devices. Any help please? I'm running Mavericks
Thanks for your help Brij011 - much appreciated. Apologies as I'm a newbie but I've looked at the info for synching and I appear to have all the switches flicked on my iPad. Does the iPad and iBooks only sync in iCloud for purchases as I appear to be doing something wrong. I could sync ok when books was in iTunes but since migrating to Mavericks I think I'm doing something wrong!!

How to set the number of seconds a servlet is allowed to run
I use JSP to generate a report, but it will take about 10 minutes to search.
IE Client screen displays an error message what is "Cannot find out your page" after 8 minutes. How to set the number of seconds a servlet is allowed to run. It's not a matter of how long the servlet is running... it's the browser timing out because the servlet hasn't responded to its request.
You have several options:
1) "Browser Pinging"
Your servlet sends some small data which can be either seen or unseen (html comments, hidden chars, etc) by the user at short intervals while your report is running. When the report is finished, the browser will not have timed out because it has been "snacking" on those small bits of data which tell the browser its original request was both heard and being handled. I don't think there is any timeout in IE as long as it receives data continually (or at least before its own timeout mark over and over again...)
2) Multithreaded processing
This would probably be a better approach. Have the report run in a separate thread running on the server. You'd want to store a reference to this executing report in the user's session. Instead of making the browser wait for the report to be finished, have the servlet check the user's session to see if a report exists and is running. If one does not exist, create one and start its execution. If one does exist, and is still running, print a "please wait" type of message OR an animation, etc... along with some javascript which will reload the page every few seconds. If the page reloads and the servlet sees that the report is finished, it can then display it to the user.
Hope this helps,

How to set the fix size jframe window
when I run the jframe ,the jframe window size is very small
1)how to set the fix size jframe window??
2)how to set the jframe cannot change the window size??
thx~~1. You can set the size by calling JFrame's method setSize. There are two versions of this method: (1) setSize(int width, int height) and (2) setSize(Dimension d). Note, that when you use this method to set the frame size, you don't have to call JFrame's pack method.
2. JFrame has a method called setResizable(boolean resizable) which you can call with the argument false.
Without any ill intent, these questions are regarding something that is very easily answered by looking at the documentation for the JFrame class. I suggest to anyone working with swing to at least look briefly through the base classes they're extending before giving up. In my experience it is always more gratifying to figure things out on my own than asking someone. But please don't take this the wrong way, I respect people who seek out help in order to further their knowledge, instead of just giving up. -
How to change the name and description of a wim using DISM
With Imagex we could update the name and description of the wim with on easy command:
imagex /info img_file [img_number or
img_name] [new_name] [new_desc]
e.g.
imagex /info Win7Combined.WIM 1 "Win7(x86)" "Windows 7 x86"
Since the ImageX tool is deprecated in Windows 8 and has been replaced with DISM, can someone explain how to update the name and description with one easy command using DISM like we could with Imagex? It looks like this person had the same issue. Have you seen this
link
It talks about exporting an Index into a new WIM. Which, in a way, would be renaming it. It's really recreating it and you have to give it a name. But it seems to work.

How to set the File Path to run a javascript using Plugin Code?
Hi All,
Im new to Indesign Plugin Development. Can any one help me out with my problem.
What i want to do is to run a javascript using Plugin Code. When i went through this forum i was able to find out that i should use the IscriptRunner Class to automate this.I could also figure out that the Member Function to use is "CanHandleFile" &"RunFile".
The first parameter in CanHandleFile & RunFile Member Function is to specify the path of the JavaScript File i suppose!I could also find out that IDFile has to used to set the file path Information.
But im clueless how to set the Javascript FilePath using IDFile. Can any one help me how to do this?Any Code Snippets Please?

myRiazHi, Andreas<br /><br /> Can you explain this in detail? I found it in your post before.<br /><br /> The content of elements are returned through the Characters callback function:<br /><br />From ISaxContentHandler.h:<br /><br />/**<br /> Receives character data<br /><br />The parser will call this method to report each chunk of<br /> character data. SAX parsers may return all contiguous<br /> character data in a single chunk, or they may split it into<br /> several chunks. But all characters in any single<br /> event must come from the same external entity so the<br /> Locator provides useful information.<br /><br />Note some parsers will report whitespace using the<br /> IgnorableWhitespace() method rather than this one (validating<br /> parsers must do so).<br /><br />@param Chars The characters from the XML document.<br /> */<br />virtual void Characters(const PMString& chars) = 0; <br /><br /> What i have done is implement my own SAXContentHandlerServiceBoss, and in my file XXXSAXContentHandler.cpp, I override the fonctions StartElement, EndElement, and Characters() like below: I add the PMString xmlData to collect the file content:<br /><br />class XXXSAXContentHandler : public CSAXContentHandler<br />{<br />void XXXSAXContentHandler::Characters(const WideString& chars)<br />{<br />xmlData.Append(chars);<br />}<br /><br />void XXXSAXContentHandler::StartElement(const WideString& uri, const WideString& localname, const WideString& qname, ISAXAttributes* attrs)<br />{<br />xmlData.Append("<"); xmlData.Append(localname); xmlData.Append(">");<br />}<br />void XXXSAXContentHandler::EndElement(const WideString& uri, const WideString& localname, const WideString& qname)<br />{<br />xmlData.Append("</"); xmlData.Append(localname); xmlData.Append(">");<br />}<br /><br />}<br /><br />and in my program, I use the code below to call the fonction I overrided, but I dont know how I can get the String xmlData I defined in the XXXSAXContentHandler.cpp<br /><br />InterfacePtr<IK2ServiceRegistry> serviceRegistry(gSession, UseDefaultIID());<br /><br />InterfacePtr<IK2ServiceProvider> xmlProvider(serviceRegistry->QueryServiceProviderByClassID(kXMLParserService, kXMLParserServiceBoss));<br /><br />InterfacePtr<ISAXServices> saxServices(xmlProvider, UseDefaultIID());<br />InterfacePtr<ISAXContentHandler> saxHandler(::CreateObject2<ISAXContentHandler>(kXXXSAXContentHandlerServiceBoss));<br />saxHandler->Register(saxServices);<br />bool16 parseFailed = saxServices->ParseStream(readStream, saxHandler);<br /><br />Can you give me any help?<br /><br />Thanks and regards!

Will someone please tell me how to change the name of a folder I created in "Pages" and saved to the "Cloud"? Thanks.
Go to the open dialog in Pages and select iCloud.
Click on the folder that you created on iCloud to open the folder.
On the lower half of the window (the open folder) click on the name of the folder.
Once you click and select the folder's name it should be editable. -

Hi Experts,
i ve developd a HR-ABAP report in that Some part of code will Mon-Fri, Excluding Public holidays and sat & sundays...( i.e no public holidays and no sat & sundays)
and some part of should Run on 1st of everymonth.... but 2 parts of code should be in same report..
How can set the logic to run the report respective times....
Thanks in Advance....
sudeer.you can code this but need some good expertise on fm's , date handling techniques and subroutine call coding.
1.
to make the code run only on 1st of every month
capture the rundate of ur prog .. take value of sy-datum
ex.. 01.xx.yyyy
or date std will be yyyymmdd so check for dd = 01 ..
so per logic first two chars show that its first of any month in any year ..
if yes
execute the logic for the first of every month ..
endif.
2.
where the code needs to be run on mon-fri and not on public holidays / sun / sat ..
first fetch the day based on date .. like mon or tue or wed .. except sat and sun..
second check whether if m-t-w-th-fr if any of them is a holiday or not
u need to check the date in the calender list like tholi thoc and .. to check whether that is a holiday or not ..
coming to sat and sundays .. u need to check the day for date using function modules and build the logic ...
br,
vijay..

Hi, Can you please help me on the advantages of using force logging mode with a standby database and the effect of it in indexes etc. Also, it may help if you could also share ideas on difference between the two modes? Thanks, Jennah
