ARD 3 problems

Hi all,
I have a intel mac mini 10.6 installed under my plasma.. which i would like to control from my g5 imac 10.5.. thats all i want to do is control it.. but it seems its the only thing i cant do. i get the message
You are not authorized to control this computer.
i take it the mac mini is the client, the imac is the admin computer.. i've set up the mac mini with a new user with admin status. the imac finds it okay. i just cant control it
Anyone got any ideas to the problem?
Regards
Paul

Screen sharing should not be enabled if you're using ARD. You would use Remote Management.
Let's start with some basics: what version of Apple Remote Desktop are you using? You should have 3.3 to work with a Snow Leopard client.
If you are using 3.3, have you confirmed that you're attempting to connect to your client system using the user name and password for which you've granted ARD privileges on the client? If you are certain you are, try removing the mini from the computer list in the ARD admin and re-add it, making sure you use the name and password of the admin account you set up.
Hope this helps.

i Have 2008 R2  (64 bit) OS in my PC but i am strugling to run my addon ARDfile in it. for ARD creation i am used 2.1 B1DE tool in 2008 .but when i created A RD file by B!DE it created it succesfully but in addon installer bin file only addon exe file created and ARD file not created iam not understand it so please help me for that if you have any solution for it

    Hello Prashant!
You should build addon binaries for 'x86' CPU, for use it on x64 systems, because Business One is x86 application.

  • ARD problems

I have installed ARD 3.1 updates on my mac. I am running a dual 867 mgz g4 with 10.4.8 installed. I am trying to connected to another mac over the internet.
when I go connect to the other mac, I put the ip address in, but it says OFFLINE, I know the other mac is online, so I connect and it connects to it.
when I try to copy a file to my mac, it says
COPY TO THIS COMPUTER : FAILED ON ALL
    TASK STAUS : not supported.
I have used ARD before, but I had to reformmat my mac, so I am trying to use it again, but its not working the same way

That'd be on/in your Router that you forwarded Ports to... I mean, you'd have to set your Comp's Network>Configure IPv4 to use DHCP with Manual Address to a fixed IP, then Forward those Ports on the Router to that fixed IP.
Of course certain Routers/Modems handle this automagically, or can use HW Mac Addies to complicate things.

  • New install of ARD won't run

I just purchased a copy of the unlimited ARD and it appears to install fine from the CD. Then when I clik on RD in the applications folder, it says "Remote Desktop is installing required components" and then quits RD.
Then, if I clik RD it does the same thing. From the discussion I've looked at the logs and there is this, and quite a few of them apparently indicating an image is not found,
    Contents/Support/ARDSelfInstall
    2007-03-28 10:05:17.522 Remote Desktop[2504] CFLog (21): Error loading /Library/QuickTime/LiveType.component/Contents/MacOS/LiveType: error code 4, error number 0 (Library not loaded: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/LiveType.framework/Versions/A/LiveType
    Referenced from: /Library/QuickTime/LiveType.component/Contents/MacOS/LiveType
    Reason: image not found)
    2007-03-28 10:05:17.616 Remote Desktop[2504] CFLog (21): Error loading /Library/QuickTime/DivX 5.component/Contents/MacOS/DivX 5: error code 4, error number 0 (Library not loaded: /Library/Application Support/DivXNetworks/liblame3.92.dylib
    Referenced from: /Library/QuickTime/DivX 5.component/Contents/MacOS/DivX 5
    Reason: image not found)
So, where do I go from here?

The "image not found" in the log portion you posted appears to have nothing to do with ARD. Those are being generated by a QuickTime error, possibly an obsolete version of the DivX component and/or an corrupted installation of LiveType.
For the ARD problem, first, are you logged in as a user with Administrator privileges? If not, log in as an admin and try again. Try this:
    • Insert your ARD CD
    • Open in Finder
    • Right click on the Remote Desktop.mpkg and show contents
    • Navigate to contents/installers
    • Drag the RemoteDesktopAdmin.pkg file onto the workstation and install
    • Run Software Update
    • Upgrade to 3.1 admin
Otherwise, you may have to completely uninstall ARD and then reinstall it. Follow these instructions for the uninstall:

  • Ibook video problems

I have a second gerneration g3 12 inch and i'm haveing video problems.  The ibook boots up and the screen shows 3/4 and the screen shows flashing like orange and blue pictures.  I've read that it proble a video ard problem or a cpu problem and i don't know how to solve it.

It's either a video card problem or a problem with the screen cable. I've know such description to be the video cable. There are two way to fix this issue, you could pay for a technician from a shop to replace the cable or logic board (video card is built into the logic board) Or if your confidant enough, you can obtain most of the parts from eBay cheaper enough and replace yourself. Check out ifix web site for iBook repair manual.

  • How do I rename Client's HD in ARD?

    Hello,
    What I'm trying to do:
Delete an application in the /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Applications directory via ARD
    Problem:
Some people rename their HD to whatever they want causing my remove command to not work using "Macintosh HD"
    Solution:
How can I rename the client's drive to Macintosh HD?
Message was edited by: Host <to clarify Subject>

Your remove command doesn't need to contain the full path.
Just send a command similar to *rm -r /Applications/filename*

  • Apple Remote Desktop - Users constantly appear and disappear in All Computers List

I have a problem and I am thinking it is probably some kind of broadcast error on my network, but why not question Apple Remote Desktop in the process? Computers seem to flicker from available to unavailable. I think they are actually on. If I send a task out while it shows availbe it does complete even though it flickers on and off throughout the package install. However it will not let me send out installs when it say unavailable (as expected). If I am lucky I can catch the systems when they show available and the installs work. I have deleted preferences and re-installed ARD. I am using 3.7
Personally I think it is my switches and Bonjour. Does anyone else have this issue and a work around?

    Hey Madoser,
I had the same problem. I administrate around 30 macs, which I undrestand isn't much.....I was having issues with ard after updating to mavericks. I decided to do a complete erase and reinstall on my machine. This was't because of ard, mind you. I was having all kinds of problems. Nothing unexpected as far as I'm concerned but after doing things, my ard problems went away. It's only been a day, but everything is working like a dream.
    I'll make sure

  • Apple Remote Desktop Requiring Serial Number Each Time....

Apple Remote Desktop Admin has suddenly started asking for the serial number every time it is launched. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling - same thing. Last time this happened it required a full reimage of my Mac to get it to work again. This is getting a bit ridiculous. I am running ARA 3.2.2 and Mac OS X 10.5.6. FYI my uninstall was by the book as per Apple's documentation:
    rm -rf /var/db/RemoteManagement
    rm /Library/Preferences/com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist
    rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist
    rm -r /Library/Application Support/Apple/Remote Desktop/
    rm -r ~/Library/Application Support/Remote Desktop/
    rm -rf /Applications/Remote\ Desktop.app
Has anyone else had such a problem with the current version of ARD?
    Thanks.

  • Dimmed system pref

This may not be a ARD issue, but here it goes.
Just purchased ARD and installed on my laptop (G4, 10.3.9). Installed client software on my G5 (10.3.9) and G3 (10.2.8). All works great for my G5. I can see my G3 in the ARD window, I can see current app running and send messages but I can't connect.
I am unable to check the Remote Desktop box in the system preference panel. It is dimmed out. Why?
I had similar problems with preference items being dimmed or unusable. For example, not being able to add users and not being able to sync address book and cal with my bluetooth phone. I solved the user issue by doing a clean install. Is this a corrupt pref issue?
    Thxs-JDog

Given that and the other problems you're having on that system, I'd say it's most likely an OS problem, not an ARD problem. You might try a different user with administrator privileges and see if that makes a difference. And of course the usual advice about repairing permissions and booting from the installation disk and having Disk Utility check the disk.
If that doesn't help, you'll probably want to take up the issue in the appropriate Mac OS X area.
    Good luck.

  • How do you open port 3283 when firewall is off?

I've had no success trying to get ARD working on a new Snow Leopard Server 10.6.2 install on an XServe. Can't get it working from the Sharing control panel, and tried all the different syntax options in kickstart here
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2342445&tstart=15
    and here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2370
A port scan shows that port 3283 is closed, but the computer firewall is off, and there is no external firewall. Another 10.6.2 Server works fine on ARD, so it's internal to the first one.
How can I open that port? Hoping that's the problem.
    Thanking anyone for feedback.

It's probably a Mac OS X firewall fault, where it's actually holding that port closed even though it claims the firewall is off. I'd suggest you ask in the Mac OS X Server forum; you'll be more likely to get help with this problem there this not being an ARD problem per se.
This of course presumes that the Xserve isn't behind a router that might be filtering that port. If both Xserver are on the same subnet, that probably won't be the case, but if the problem Xserve is on a different subnet, you might check the router's filter.

  • Problem in creation of .ard file

    Hi Experts
I am developing .ard file for a add-on using B1DE1.5 in SAP 2007B PL08 . Visual Studio is 2008. I have created a add-on . It was running successfully. Then I select File->Add-> New Project.    Here I select SAP B1 Add-OnInstaller .Net Wizard
This wizard Ask for file .exe, UI DLL, DI DLL and Wizard DLL. I add all these files. It finished successfully.  I Rebuild this project . then I search the .ard file in BIN folder but could not find anywhere. Can anyone suggest me for this problem.
    Regards
    Gorge

    Hi Gorge,
In the same folder as bin folder, you should find a AddOnRegDataGenFile folder. In this, you'll find a .bat file which you need to run in order to generate the .ard file.

  • Problem in creation of ARD using B1DE 1.5

    Hi Experts
I have develop an AddOn using B1DE 1.5. It is working properly. Now I want to create ARD file of addon . I use 'SAP B1 AddOnInstaller.Net wizard to create ARD file. I follow all the setps of wizard. It finish without any error. But it does not create ARD file in Bin folder. What can be problem ? Please suggest me.
    Thanks
    Regards
    Jitender

    Jitender,
You could manually create the ARD file by using the AddOnRegDataGen.exe.  If you search the SDK Help file for "Create a Registration Data File", you will find the documentation that tells you how to do this.
With respect to B1DE ... if you actually go to the folder where you save your projects and open the installer project you created, as an example ...\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\B1AddOnInstallerNET1\B1AddOnInstallerNET1\B1AddOnInstallerNET1\
... in the ...\AddOnRegDataGenFile there should be an AddOnRegDataGen.bat file.  You can try to also manually execute this to see if the .ARD file gets created.  If it still does not it could be due to a pathing issue .bat file.  You may want to check that the paths are correct.
Again ... worst case you can manually create the .ARD file as stated above.

  • ARD 3.3.2 problem with connecting to 10.5.8 server

    Hi,
I am running ARD (3.3.2) on 10.6.2 client trying to Control a 10.5.8 Mac OS X Server system. The All Computers pane Name column shows the SACSI Server-Home, Current Status is Idle, Current Application is Finder, Current User is Server Admin 1, IP Address is correct, and Mac OS Version shows 10.5.8 (9L34), and ARD version 3.3.2.
Both computers are on the same subnet. Client Norton Firewall is disabled. Both firewalls (Mac OS X Server Firewall & Norton Firewall) on server are disabled.
When running other applications on the server, such as Server Preferences, the Current Application column changes to reflect its name.
From Terminal on the client system I can ssh [email protected] (Server IP address)
    without a problem.
In ARD when I click on Control icon I get a popup titled Control Computer with a "Connecting to SACSI Server-Home" message and a Stop button. Eventually I get another popup with the message "Connection failed to SACSI Server-Home" with an OK button.
    It always fails like this.
Anybody have any idea on how to fix this?

I can agree this behavior! As I have understood it is failing because of some issues with NAT handling lacks still in the software. This is actually very old, serious and large scale problem since basically it doesn't work over any home network configuration.
I have couple use cases where this works over VPN but I would love see it working without. And of course it works in the local network. But not good enough since I mean the purpose of the ARD is to be able to connect from anywhere.
Apple claims that 3.3.2 included some improvements:
+* Improved handling of IP address and port changes for clients accessed behind a Network Address Translation (NAT) system+
I can't still connect to my server from the outside. It says always +Connection failed+ as before the upgrade! ARD probably does use ssh tunneling methods a bit differently because if I do ssh tunneling manually, no problems at all. A bit weird.
This is how to test it. Choose "encrypt passwords and keystrokes only" from security panel of the ARD Admin and create a new connection by address. Address is localhost and remote management port is 7283 and screen sharing 7900.
    Then open terminal and type:
    +ssh -L 7283:localhost:3283 -L 7900:localhost:5900 [email protected]+
Port forwarding is in the form of -L local-port:host:remote-port. You could put -f to tell ssh to go into the background just before it executes the command. This is followed by the user name and server you are logging into. Sometimes it's also useful to put -N to not execute a command on the remote system.
Until Apple do the fix or some workaround...

  • Problems with ARD and headless MacMini (new 1,66 DualCore)

    Hi,
i would like to set my brandnew MacMini 1,66 as webserver.
And there the problem starts: when the MacMini runs headless (without monitor attached) it thinks that there is a television attached and i get a very distorted screen when connecting via ARD 2.2. Attaching the DVI-VGA adapter does not help!
How can i tell the Mini to switch to a "normal" resolution without attaching a monitor?
I seems not to be very useful to connect a monitor to a computer that is supposed to run headless...
    HELP!!!
1.66GHz Intel Core Duo processor   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   ARD 2.2

I have the exact same problem with two PowerMac G5's. I need to have full resolution on the remote G5 which has no monitor connected, but only get to choose between PAL and NTSC TV resolution. This is really annoying, and in my opinion a major bug in ARD 3.1 and below. Why is the user forced to see such a small remote window if the remote computer is capable of much more?

waiting for ur valuable answers asap.

    Hello see my previous post.
Build your VS-project and setup as x86 and not as any CPU.
Project properties - Advanced Compile Options
    This should do the trick.
