ARD Dead after OS X update to 10.4.10

Hello all,
I am hoping this has been resolved and someone knows how I can fix it. I connect to 6 different XServes via ARDC (3 PPC and 3 Intel). This has worked perfect for years. I just updated one of my brand new Intels to 10.4.10 and after it rebooted, I can connect via ARDC, login to my root account but as soon as the desktop shows, the desktop is all messed up with lines going through it - kind of like looking at an old UHF television that is not in tune.
Has anyone else experienced this after updating the OS and if so, how do we fix it?

Yup, since Cyberstore performed unauthorized service on the device, the warranty for your iPhone has been voided, and that even includes the $79 battery replacement option from Apple or the $269 Out of Warranty option from Apple.
You have a paperweight now. Sell it for parts to someone that performs unauthorized service, like Cyberstore. Maybe they'll use it for parts to void another person's iPhone.
Next time, don't get unauthorized service done on your iPhone.

MSI p67a-gd65 dead after last bios update 4.0

hi, i read and execute exactly the bios update ver. 4.0 for MSI p67a-gd65, oll goes ok, update bios and ME successful , but after restart ... main board dead!!! i prove reset cmos ... nothing .... mainboard starts and work only 1 second, after that restart in an infinite loop with work 1 second and restart, i must disconnnect the power cable to stop that infinite reset!!

in fact the problem was after this last update mentioned on page 4 of SOP guide that you linked and that i was read ... all ... but what is strange is that i have no display error during all update .. alla goes fine ...after last reboot ... dead.

My N73 is dead after a firmware update!

Hey i just wasted my N73, I was traying to update the firmware, I did not make a back up of the cellphone, everything was ok until NSU gave me a message (sorry for my english).. something like:
1. Extract the battery
2. Insert the battery and connect the charger
3. Turn it on
And I just tought... what the hell!. I followed that steps but it didn't work. I think its my fault, beacuse I didn't restarted my pc after I installed NSU and i didn't put the cellphone in "general" mode (or something like that).
So what can I do? the cellphone is DEAD.

Yes you should have rebooted your computer as advised by the program. Also even if the procedure had been successful you would still have lost all of your data from the phones memory, that is why it tells you to back up.
First remove the battery for 5 minutes, reconnect the battery, connect it to your pc and run the updater again. Leave it for a few minutes and it should go into recovery mode (try this several times).
If not disconnect it and try a hard reset.
Hard reset:
1. Switch off the phone.
2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.
3. While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone.
4. Release when the phone shows the nokia logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.
If that fails to fix it try the advice offered in this post by drummer27:

If that still fails then the last option is to take the phone to a nokia care point.

My Z10 is dead after latest OS update

Hi,
I bought my Z10 in June 2013 at Reliance Digital Shop of Gurgaon and it was working fine after i switched using BB Link but 3 days ago I updated the OS with latest offering and then first my password keeper stop working and then from yesterday it stalled with BB logo on screen, i found no solution but only to reload the OS and I did it. Again the password keeper stoped working and asking the password again and again>> today again it stalled with BB logo and I tried to reload the OS again but this time it shows an error message and my Z10 is dead no responses at all.
Please help if at all anything is there the fun part is I am in Japan now and I have to send this stupid phone to India by EMS to get the warranty offer if anything they offer.
This will be my last BB unfortunately and what I guess even 1 billion US$ can't save RIM.

That is the first I've heard of this issue. You may need to reload the OS. Instructions are in the link below. However, you should probably give your carrier a call and ask to be escalated to BlackBerry Technical Support.

Ipad3 dead after attempting to update to iOS6

I have a problem updating the Ipad3 with the iOS6. I was using the Ipad on Wednesday when it just froze and stopped working. After a few minutes, the screen showed a USB cable and the iTunes logo, figured it meant to plug it into iTunes, so i did. After starting iTunes there were two messages: the first one said i need to update iTunes, so i did. The second one said that the Ipad was in recovery mode and that i needed to update the software and then restore, so i did.
I went through the whole process of downloading the iOS6 and the extracting the software to update the ipad. At the end, there is a message saying that the restore is complete and i just need to wait aithout disconecting the ipad. have waited for over 40 minutes and takes me to the same place, over and over again.
A message on the screen saying: Your Ipad has been restored to facotry settings and is restarting. I wait, till the message goes away and then another message: iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode. This makes me have to start the whole process over and over again. Have done the same process 4 times with the same result. The Ipad does not turn on, it is completely dead.
Please advise.

Did you try resetting your iPad?
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake + Home buttons, until the Apple logo appears.
Does the battery contain sufficient charge?

Microphone dead after iOS 5 Update

My internal iPad 2 microphone is no longer working after the iOS 5 update. Persons on FaceTime can't here me, or extremely low level at best. Same when I record Video. No or extremely low level Audio, definitely not understandable. The headset microphone works fine. Any ideas?

Got a replacement--works perfect. Apple Store was awesome; was in and out in less than fifteen minutes (just be sure to set an appointment before going in). I used my Klipsch headphones with the iPad2 right before the issue. Then I noticed if I tried recording with the headphones in, the recording would actually work intermittently. Not sure if it is the headphones or the OS update that caused the issue, because I did the update and used the headphones at roughly the same time. Anyone else using headphones that is having this issue?
Either way, just go grab a replacement. Painless. Thanks Apple!

Z3 dead after trying to update

I tried updating my Z3 this afternoon, downloaded the PC companion and the update. I connected my phone as instructed and it started to update. PC companion came up with a notification that there was no internet connection, although there was as web pages were loading normally. I clicked retry on the pop up box, but to no avail. The PC companion restarted and ever since my phone will load the initial Sony Xperia black page on start up and stop there.
The phone won't let me turn it off using just the power button, I need to hold both the power button and volume up to get it to power down. When the Sony screen is showing, PC companion wont detect the phone, saying no phone/tablet connected. When I turn the phone off using the power + vol up buttons, PC companion then recognises the phone, I try to go into phone software update, a screen pops up instructing how to connect, I press ok and the screen doesnt go away, when I press cancel it takes me back to the PC companion selection screen. After a minute of the phone being powered down and still connected to the USB port, the phone turns itself on, displaying the Sony Xperia black start screen and stays there. PC companion then doesn't recognise the phone.
Please help, its driving me mad

@Bennyfromtheblock, to me it sounds like you connect the phone to early. When you are going to perform a software repair you should not have the phone connected until PC Companion tells you how to connect it.
Do the following: Force a shutdown of your unit (ON/OFF + volume up(+) for 5-10 seconds) > Without connecting the phone, press "Start" on Support Zone > Press "Start" on Phone / Tablet Software Update > Now you'll get a message that says "Could not find phone / tablet" > In this message you should press the blue clickable link "repair my phone / tablet" > You will now start a step-by-step guide that takes your through the repair and this guide will also tell you when and how to connect the phone.
@Tanke_MD, do you have an internet connection all the time when you try to repair or update the phone? You need to have an internet connection through the whole update/repair process. If you do, are you using any Proxy or similar for your connection? Or perhaps you have a firewall/antivirus that is blocking PC Companion.

Dm1 4020sa dead after HP own update!!!! - is this a con to get you to buy new ones.

Ok so HP own update program wanted to make various updates to my laptop - which seemed to be fine anyhow.
Update completed and the laptop restarted but a black screen f11 f12 lights on and fan at full speed.
It did this until it killed the battery.
Now completely dead nothing nada zip. Tried the 'hard reset' nothing.
Guess thanks to you HP!! I have an expensive door stop.
It was fine unitl HP software prompted me to update!
Help anyone.

E71X completly dead after getting an update

My wife received a message from ATT last night saying they were doing a software update. She checked the message and sat the phone back down. This morning it was completely dead and would not charge.
I then swithched the battery from my phone to her phone to see if it was the battery. It started right up.
Then I put her battery in my phone and it started up also.
She did not drop or jiggle the phone.
Any ideas on what happend?
Should I call Nokia and send it back?

Do you have a bootable clone from prior to the update? If so, roll back with that.
Are your apps that won't open PPC and do they need Rosetta? Do you need to activate Rosetta?
Have you considered reinstalling 10.6 from your install disc and then coming forward with the 10.6.8 Combo Updater, then doing software update and not including whatever it was you installed that caused this propblem?
By the way - what update was it that caused this problem?

Ipad mini with retina wifi extremely slow/dead after ios 8 update

Just updated my devices to iOS 8. Im having no issues with the Iphone 5s wifi works perfectly fine. But with the Ipad Mini w/ Retina I can't get any wifi. Its connected, I've reset the wifi & router. But my mini keeps saying there isnt any internet connection. Anyone else have this issue?

After updating my iPhone 4s that worked absolutely fine, i set about my iPAD 2,
took forever for the request made icon change to down loading, then installing. Once completed i had severe connection issues, Safari not finding servers, iOS telling me my password was incorrect so real problems, i could not even populate the BBC news app it just stuck as did Ebay, Amazon, Maplin etc Apps...
Not one to panic but terrified because i'm off on holiday for a week to Spain on Saturday, i use my iPad to remote my PC and remote assistance to systems i fit, and i have several hundred pages in Notes which i use as 'sticky's'.so do i need this like a hole in the head?
tried several reboots, eventually last resort before defaulting and clearing it out, and restoring, fearing loosing those precious notes (not certain they were all backed up), I reset my network settings (which wipes all stored login details for various sites, resets WiFi details etc),
To my Massive relief it cured all the connection problems i was having, so for some reason something must have corrupted.
you need to know what details you used on each site you use.

Other suggestion is you do need a lot of spare memory space, so park large files onto PC in alternative cloud storage, then delete from your device. You can restore deleted apps afik no are charged again, so delete those your not really using making sure you keep the data safe.

What can i do if my new iphone 5 dropped dead after the last update and it only shows itunes on its window?

i connected my phone to the copmuter to chargethen i tunes asks for an update i strted installing and left it to finish when i came back it said that the update couldnt be finished and that i should try again later but my device is not working at all it just shows yhe i tunes logo on the cover and the usb picture below it. i gess its asking for me to conect it so i did but its just charging with out doing anithyng else and i can't access my device from the computer to search the problem either.HELP PLEASE im desperate!!!

External Firewire HD dead after iTunes 7 update - won't mount!

I have a pretty serious problem.
I have a 70gb music library that I keep on a Lacie Porsche 250gb external Firewire HD. The first time I ran iTunes 7, it gave me the spinning ball and locked up when "determining gapless information". I had to force quit iTunes.
A few hours later, the external drive started making a high pitched noise, and now it won't mount at all. It's also not visible in Disk Utility or Diskwarrior. I'm at a loss!
I have lots of very valuable information stored on my external drive, so I'm really hoping I can do something to revive it.

I recently had exactly the same problem with the 200GB model prior to the iTunes 7 update, so would concur that you're probably looking at a hardware quality issue. Thankfully the problems seem to be more related to power supply rather that the drive itself so you may be able to regain the data by swapping this over to a new external caddy as I did, but be wary of warranty issues.

My iPad is dead after trying to Update

I have about a 5yr old iPad. I plugged it into my MacBook Air to charge it, got a request to update iOS to 8.2. Then got error message 3014 saying it can't be updated nor restored. Now it won't launch.
Went to Support based on the error message 3014, got help page on going into the Terminal mode and checking Host files. I'm supposed to make a minor edit to the line containing: “gs.apple.com”. That line is completely missing, probably the crux of the problem. My question is what is the number sequence that precedes this entry on that line? Can I use the number sequence in the example? Or is it something else? Can't get into the iPad, is it stored somewhere else on my laptop? When I go into iTunes on the laptop, the iPad doesn't even show up as a connected device tho' it's physically connected. Ideas?

From your post I understand that you're getting an iTunes update error of 3014 when trying to update your iPad. If the gs.apple.com line does not exist in your hosts file, then you should continue to the next step of the article, to check your TCP/IP filtering and security software running on the computer. You should be able to update to iOS 8.2 OTA (Over the Air) however. To update Over the Air, connect your iPad to a Wi-Fi network and follow the directions below.

Update your device wirelessly
The easiest way to update your device is wirelessly, also called “over the air.” Here’s how:
Plug in your device to a power source.
Tap Settings > General > Software Update.

Tap Install, or tap Later to install the update later. If you use a passcode, you'll need to enter it before installing the update.

Dead after trying to update

I tried to update last night and now phone just indicates that I need to connect to iTunes. Tried that and message said I needed to restore. Phone initially connects to computer but stops recognizing connection before restore is complete. Would love to arrange a call to find out what to do, BUT MY PHONE DOESN'T WORK!!! Live chat with customer service would be great. In looking at the board there seem to be a number of problems with this update. Any additional suggestions for my problem?

I have a very similar issue. This started when my phone hung during the update to 3.1.3. I've tried to restore in DFU mode on 10.6.2, WinXP, and Win7. It's always the same. Restore begins, gets to the progress bar for 10 seconds and an unknown error (9) occurs. I've tried all USB ports of three different machines and it always ends the same. When I try and boot the phone when it's not connected it just shows me the plug into iTunes picture.
Any help would be appreciated.
