Ard from work to home?

I am sure this has been posted b4, But I am new and can't find it. I just purchased ARD3.1 last week and I want to be able to check on FCP which is rendering at work from my home. Can someone please walk me thru on how to do this or point me in the right direction. Thanks

Find the option for "Encrypt All Data" in the ARD administrator Security system preferences and if it's selected, change it back to "Encrypt passwords and keystrokes only".
Sorry, can't help with the issue of using the domain name/dynamic IP services. I know that there's a utility that you use with those to report any change in IP address so that the domain name maps correctly, but I've not done it so I can't help with that. You might try looking in the Mac OS X 10.4 Networking forum; it's probably been discussed there.

  • How to cancel my personal subscription to CC so I can use my second team licence from work at home?

How to cancel my personal subscription to CC so I can use my second team licence from work at home?
Hi there, I have both a personal subscription and a team subscription to Creative Cloud. This means I also have to adobe.com accounts.
My boss just informed me that I have 2 licences on the team plan, and I should be using my other team licence at my home office. (Can't do corporate work on a personal computer).
So, how do I easily cancel my personal subscription and add my team subscription on my home computer? I'll need the second licence of software to be for a mac (my office computer is a PC).
Hope this makes sense. Thanks so much!

  • I work nights. Can I switch Travel Time in iCal from work to home?

I work nights. Can I switch Travel Time in iCal from work to home? I really don't have any appointments from 11 pm to 7 am when I work, but I don't want to switch when my day starts in preferences as no one else in my family works nights.
    Any suggestions?

i haven't seen that option either, and it would be a great feature. (traveltime in a different colour...)
i do it like this: in the caption of the appointment i put the time that the gig starts. the actual time stretch of the appointment is the appointment including traveltime.
it's not the best way, but it works...
    good luck

  • How do I switch Travel Time in Mac Calendar from work to home?

I recently installed Mavericks and have been using the new Travel Time feature in Calendar.  Today I ran into a problem, however.  I scheduled an appointment and put in the location address.  When I went to enter the travel time, it only gave me two options:  walking from work and driving from work.  There was no option for driving or walking from home.  This has never been a problem before.  What's going on here?

    From Calendar Help:
Choose to see travel time from your starting location to the event’s location.
To set your starting location, Calendar first looks for your location in any events that are up to three hours before this event. If Calendar doesn’t find a location, it uses your work address during work hours and your home address during other hours. (Your work hours are set in Calendar preferences using the “Day starts at” and “Day ends at” menus.) If your card in Contacts doesn’t have your addresses, Calendar uses your computer’s current location.

  • Moving Excel Spreadsheets from Work to Home

I have had this problem for the past month. The problem is when moving Excel
spreadsheets from home to work only (1) out of (6) will not open. It says there is not enough memory. The other spreadsheets are larger so I know the allocation is ok. The work computer is an IMac running system 9.2, the home
computers are a G4 IMac and a G3 IBook. Both of these are running Tiger 10.4.4. These spreadsheets open on both of these Tiger computers.
I use a 128MB USBDrive for moving files back and forth. One thing I have noticed recently is that when opening at work the Icons say PC. I have a newer version of Excel at home, cannot load that version at work because it is not compatible with system 9.2.
    Help????????

    Hi, klugej -
I don't use OSX, so can't suggest a method there. However, in OS 9, try highlighting the icon of the drive (click on it once), then select Erase from the Special menu. With luck, that will offer one of the Mac formats (probably Mac OS Standard) as well as MS-DOS.

  • Question re: transfering music from work to home computer

hello! My itunes at work has roughly 3500 songs on it and I have all those songs on my ipod. My husband wants to use my ipod while he works out and i wanted to create a playlist just for him (for the songs that he wants, so he doesnt have to hear my "country crap" as he calls it- lol)- anyway because all my songs are at work and there are at least 3500 songs he doesnt want to go through each song on my ipod, and write down all the songs he wants in his playlist. soooo-- is there a way to put the songs on our home computer too- so i can create the playlist and he can just listen to each song or pick the songs he knows add them to his playlist and be done with it? it can potentially be a one time thing since once he has gone through the bulk of the songs and he has his playlist started it will be easier to add since it most likely will be a cd or two- and not 3000 plus songs to go through. Hope I make sense.
    thanks!!
    lisa

You could move the songs from your iPod to your computer using an option like one of these...
    YamiPod
    MacMuse: Computer Crashed
You also can search the Discussions and the Internet (via Google) for more options.
That would be the easiest option.
If you want to move the songs from computer to computer (without your iPod), see this...

  • Syncing, change from work to home CPU???

    Hey
I synced my iphone to my computer at work and now I want to sync it to my laptop at home. However my 5th Gen ipod is synced to the library on my laptop. I'm worried about losing my contacts, apps & photos. The music libraries are almost identical so I'm not worried about this. What's the best way to get my phone off of sync from my work computer to my home???

Photos are a one way sync -computer to iphone. You need to move those from your old computer to your new one before syncing.
If there is at least one entry in the calendar and address book on your new computer, then you will have the option to merge the data.
As long as your new computer is signed onto the same itunes account you can get the apps on that machine to sync with you iphone.

  • Help combining music files from work computer, home computer and iPhone

When I connect my iPhone to my home computer, iTunes won't let me transfer the songs on my iPhone onto my home computer's iTunes without overwriting everything on my home's iTunes. The songs were placed on my iPhone using my work computer's iTunes. Any suggestions on how to get all my music that is on my work computer and on my iPhone onto my home computer without wiping out my home computer's music library?
    Thanks,
    Paul

You should be able to connect your iPhone to your home computer and use *File > Transfer Purchases from Paul's iPhone* to copy any iTunes Store purchases you made at work or directly on the iPhone into your home iTunes library. This transfer should only add items to your iTunes library and not delete anything.
Working in the other direction, iTunes to iPhone (& iPod Touch?), will remove all existing media and replace it with whatever local content you wish to place on it. In contrast to other iPods this happens even if you choose to manually manage the content. I.e. at the time you want to edit the content every file that you want on the iPod must be present and accessible in the local library.
The most obvious way not to get caught out is to have a complete backup that you could restore in the event of a disaster. A small USB host-powered external drive is ideal for this. I use SyncToy 2.1, a free tool from MS to manage the backups. This can copy your entire iTunes library & any other media folders onto another hard drive or network share. You can then use SyncToy periodically to synchronise or echo your library to the backup. A preview will show which files need to be updated giving you a chance to spot unexpected changes and during the run only the changed files will be copied saving lots of time.
It's not documented or supported, but I have found that if you use the same set of files (kept in sync with SyncToy) on two different machines the iPod/iPhone sees each as it's "home" library and will let you sync content from it without wiping and reinstalling everything. Obviously to perform such a trick you first have to merge your existing libraries and take care of shuffling the content back and forth but it does have a few advantages. First content can be added to the iPhone where you happen to be at the time, second you end up with multiple copies of your library for backup. Given that you can even load an iTunes library directly from an external drive you can actually manage the library or iPhone from any machine running the same version of iTunes. The main drawback with the scheme is that you may at times make independent updates to different copies of the library. I use iTunes Folder Watch occasionaly to scan my library folders for any new additios or missing items that arise from asynchronous edits.

  • HAVING TROUBLE TRYING TO SYNC FROM WORK TO HOME.

When ever I try and sync my work computer to my home computer I get the message:
    "Synchronization Failed"
    "Monday, April 4, 2005 1:27 PM"
The Date and the time are not the correct date.
Here are all the specs about each computer that I know.
The Work computer is a G5 running on Mac OS 10.3.9
My Home Computer is the iMac 20" G5 running on the latest Mac OS 10.4(something) not sure I do know that it is the lastest before leopard.
I work for a LARGE corporation so upgrading the work computer to leopard is out of the question.
Basically, is this possible? To sync a two macs one running 10.3.9 to a mac running 10.4?
are there any work arounds etc.
    Thank you for your time.
    Jamie

This is the iSync forum, whereas your question relates to .Mac Sync.

  • Connect To Home Mac Desktop From Work

Does anyone know how I can connect to my iMac G5 at home from work by using either ARD or some type of FTP software?

    Hi Mathew
Your question is a bit too broad to get an answer. It's a bit like asking "Does anyone know how I can write a document using Word?" How can anyone answer such a question? "Yes, buy it and use it" ?
To try and be helpful I will say that I connect to and control my MacMini at home from my iMac at work using ARD. It is not the cheapest way to do it. If all you want to do is see the screen and contol it, via mouse and keyboard, there are other VNC programs available for free. ARD has a lot more management tools as it is aimed at people running installations like school computer labs where one computer controls dozens of others. I have had a lot of trouble getting these more advanced features to work outside the LAN, which is why I'm searching the list today. I have had very poor experience with transfering files over the Internet with ARD. Sometimes it has worked, mostly not.
Which brings me to the second point. You mention "ARD or some type of FTP software". ARD and FTP are very different tools, although I guess ARD uses the FTP protocol. ARD lets you see and control a remote computer. FTP is for sending files. If you just want to send files I wholeheartedly recommend Transmit

  • Wifi works at home but not when away from home

My Wifi works at home but not when away from home, what is wrong?  I thought with a phone plan I didn't need to have a wifi connection.

You either need WiFi or Cellular (or both). If you have neither, you can't connect to the internet.
Most people use WiFi at home and Cellular while away from home, or connect to public WiFi networks where there are some.

  • When sharing screen from work with my home computer, is there any way to turn off the display at home?

Hi, sorry if this is a silly question, but when I'm viewing my desktop on the home computer from work (as in I've connected by finding my computer in the finder and hit the "Share Screen" button - is there any way to turn off the display at home? It seems a bit of a waste of power to have the screen on when I'm not actually there - I just need to be able to see all my programs etc on the remote screen in order to use them. My home computer is a 2011 iMac running latest Mountain Lion, work is a 2010 MacBook Pro.
    Thanks in advance!
    Matt

I've set up another user on my home Mac and left that one logged in. Now when I connect from work it asks me if I want to share the screen or log on virtually as my user. I think choosing the second option doesn't power up the screen.

  • How can I print from work to my APEn USB home printer?

    Hello all,
01--I just bought my first AirPort Extreme(n) router and wanted to configure my home network so that I can print over the internet from work.
02--I’ve already enabled the “AirPort Utility” > “Settings” > “Printers” > “Share printers over Ethernet WAN port” option.
    03--My work computer is a 1.5 ghz 12” PowerBook G4 running 10.4.10.
My home printer is a Brother HL 2040.
03-- I am able to print wirelessly whilst on my own home network.
04--I’ve already tried unsuccessfully to use the following settings: “Printer Setup Utility” > “Printers” > “Add Printer...” > “IP Printer” > “Internet Printing Protocol - IPP” > “Address = My Home’s Internet Connection IP". However, I keep getting the never ending message the status Network host ‘IP address’ is busy; will try in 30 seconds...
05-- I’ve already noticed some unanswered posts by other users. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4592342
    Many thanks!!!!!!!
    AirPort Extreme (n), 1.5 Ghz 12" PowerBook G4, Brother HL-2040 Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I might be wrong, but I don't think you can. Inorder to print directly from your computer at work you would have to have access to your wireless system from that computer. The only other thing I can think of is through file sharing but then again it seems like you have to have some method of accessing one of your computers at home via the internet.
A very primative way of printing would be to send yourself an email with an attachment of whatever you wanted to print. Open the email when you get home and print the attachment.
I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear.
If there is a way there are some pretty sharp guys on the discussion forum and I am sure one of the will answer.
