ARD repeatedly tries to install and never opens

I'm attempting to install ARD Admin 2.2 on my PM G4 MDD running 10.4.2 and every time I open the application, it asks me for my administrator password, goes through an installation process and then quits out with no error message or anything. The first time I did this it asked me for my serial number and an ARD password, but each time after it skips those steps, goes through the installation and then quits.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times following the ARD removal instructions at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108021 I read a discussion with the same problem that had been posted earlier, but their error was attributed to version incompatibility: Christopher Llamas, "ARD Shuts Down on opening", 06:44pm Jul 13, 2005
Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is very frustrating.

I've installed the update posted above in addition to the 2.2 client update and the 2.2 admin update. None of these 3 made any difference. I've run permissions fixes and uninstalled manually following the directions and also ran the uninstaller from Apple's site. Still no luck. I called Apple and the only thing the tech could do is find this thread here in the discussion group and tell me that other people have had this problem and uninstalling hasn't helped. After that he said I should just do an archive and install of the system. I haven't done that yet, as I know there has to be some conflict in in my system that can be fixed in a more elegant way that maybe someone else has also identified.
To repeat, my problem is identical to the original poster's. I purchased ARD 2.2 unlimited client on CD and am installing it on an Al Powerbook that has ARD 1.2 on it. The install is successful and when I try to launch the app, it asks for administrator authentication and then asks for the serial number. I enter it and then it goes on to say it needs to install software. At that point, it re-installs ARD client 2.2 and quits. Starting up again starts w/ the administrator authentication, skips the serial # step, but goes to installing necessary software components - installs ARD Client again and it goes through the whole thing and says writing package receipt and closes. I thought maybe it had something to do w/ it not registering that it's not actually installed w/ the package receipt. That's when i ran the permissions fix and the other updates to no avail.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

I have repeatedly tried to install flashplayer on Mac 10.5.8 with no success. I have followed the online help document line by line and tried Mike M's suggestions to no avail. I now have no flashplayer and each time it continues to report a failure to launch even when reset. the error report on apple state a breakpoint and unknow required load command whatever that is....HELP!

    Hi Katie,
Flash Player is no longer supported on OS X 10.5.8.  If you try to install one of the latest versions, it'll just terminate.  You need Flash Player 10.3.183.90 (released 7/9/2013), which is the last version supported on OS X 10.5.8.  The installer file is in this zip package, http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/installers/archive/fp_10.3.183.90_archive _mac_only.zip.
If you have an Intel machine, you may want to consider upgrading to 10.9 (free upgrade) so that you can install the latest, most secure, version of Flash Player.

  • I'm using a 15" Macbook Pro running OSX6.8 and cannot upgrade. I have a subscription to Adobe CC but none of these work on this so I was on with Adobe for 5 hours trying to install and launch Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Muse, and Acrobat Pro from CS

I'm using a 15" Macbook Pro running OSX6.8 and cannot upgrade. I have a subscription to Adobe CC but none of these work on this so I was on with Adobe for 5 hours trying to install and launch Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Muse, and Acrobat Pro from CS6. Well, InDesign is the only one that works and I have a ton of work due! I don't have a serial number for Photoshop or Illustrator except for CS3, and they don't work. InDesign gave me no problems. Illustrator says it can't work on this machine. Photoshop needs a serial number. I'm stumped and getting anxious and freaked out. Can anyone help? Adobe Chat is down right now.

if you have a cc subscription, close ps > sign out and then back in to your cc desktop > open ps.
    ai cs6 requires:
Multicore Intel processor with 64-bit support
Mac OS X v10.6.8 or v10.7. Adobe Creative Suite 5, CS5.5, and CS6 applications support Mac OS X v10.8 and v10.9 when installed on Intel-based systems.*
2 GB of RAM (8 GB recommended)
2 GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash storage devices)
    1024 x 768 display (1280 x 800 recommended) with 16-bit video card

  • Error 1856 yeah tried re-install and running as admin still have that error

yeah tried re-install and running as admin still have that error any Ideas?

    Good start.
Only two things I did differently. I used a new admin account. I opened a .mov file freshly downloaded from Apple's web site.
Log into a different account with admin privileges (create a new one if necessary)
Download a .mov file and store it on the hard drive.
    Open the .mov file.
Move that same file to a temp folder on hard drive and assign rights to problem user.
Log off and log in as the troubled user.
That same file should now open
Try opening one of the files that could not open before.
If that doesn't work,  (I didn't do this, it was on another Apple support forum post elsewhere)
    Fully uninstall QuickTime
Download the K-lite Codec pack (I downloaded the full version here http://www.free-codecs.com/Klite_codec_packdownload.htm)
Install it and accept its changes it will make
Once K-lite is installed, now you can re-install QuickTime
    Try opening the file again
    G'luck.

Mac OS 10.10.2 is installed and can open documents on my new Mac Air but an error message occurs when trying to attach a PDF to emails.  Apple was not able to fix.  Any thoughts?

    The message says:
    Please wait
If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of your document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document.
Then it goes on to suggest an Reader upgrade, which I already did.

The Apple logo will Appear and then Disappear...
    Usually takes about 10 - 15 Seconds...

windows 7  64 bit will not install itunes..it tries to install and keeps telling quick time for windows did not properly install  any help?

    Hi Tamekia,
I am sorry to hear nothing has worked yet. I have looked up some additional information and possible solutions. Follow the steps in this document to perform a level-three uninstall, register the Windows Installer Service, and then reinstall the HP software. An uninstall and reinstall of the software deletes and overwrites any of the files that might cause the error and resets the Windows Installer. HP recommends that you download the latest software from the HP Web site to remove any files that might be causing this error.
Level-three uninstall, and register the Windows Installer Service
Note: The title of this document is not specific to the issue you are experiencing or the operating system you have, but the 3 steps and instructions are what I suggest we do to resolve the issue you are experiencing.
    Hope this helps.

    - You can only sync with one iTune library but you can manually music music and vides with different computers. To do so go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.
    - To get iTunes to see the iPod:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    or
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X

I keep trying to install and reinstall itunes but keep getting apple application support not found...how do i fix this?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if Apple Application Support won't install normally.

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:
