ARD won't let me access a machine in my network

I've been using ARD for a couple of years with no problems, but recently I've had two computers that show up in my scans, but when I try to add them to my lists, the window that asks for a user ID and password flashes down and back up again before I can enter anything.
These are computers that I've been able to reach before, but I have recently upgraded them to Snow Leopard and added and deleted user accounts. When I added a couple of OS X 10.5 Macs, everything worked as normal. The user accounts are set up to accept remote management.
Any suggestions on how I get access to these machines?

Ah, I think I found the culprit. We've been shuffling computers around, and I ended up with the same client name on a couple of computers. I renamed the computers and could connect.

    So, you have two versions of iphoto? One from the old machine and one from the new?
    If so, forget about opening with the older version of iPhoto.
    For the newer version:
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

    Hi, i have a Lynksys wireless router model number WRT54HG and im haveing this problem where it won't let me access this website tera.enmasse.com or the game they host "Tera: Rising" throught its launcher. I've bypassed the router and connected stright to the modem and the website loads. I've tried to troubleshoot the problem by restarting the router, turning it on and off, i've even upgraded its firmwere but nothing works and i've come here to see if anyone can help me. One more thing, for some reason i have access to the tera support page support.enmasse.com but nothing else.

    You can ask for the port numbers that you can trigger on the router from the website’s administrator. With the port or ports being triggered, the router will send a request to access the server for the game Tera: Rising. Refer to the links below on how to enable port triggering on the router once you obtained the port numbers. Also, disable the Filter Anonymous Internet Requests on the router by un-checking the box which you can find under the Security of tab of the router’s user interface.

    Turn OFF the restriction to allow changes to accounts you've set in Settings > General > Restrictions.

    This can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked (check the permissions on the about:permissions page).

    Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.

  • Facebook won't load properly. Takes forever and then I get a script page with log-in and then that takes forever and gives me further script that won't let me access anything. Other sites load and work OK!

    Started after last auto update several days ago. A few other sites are slow to load while many are good but Facebook just won't present it's usual mix of pre-programmed scripts and links but comes up eventually as part HTML script with a log-in box and when you log-in it then takes forever again and just gives HTML type script for "Friends" "messages" etc. but if you click these it goes nowhere!
    Also it won't let me clear history at all despite many tries. I removed and reloaded the program last night but no positive effect.

    I still haven't resolved this problem. Here is some more information...
    youtube is the only website that has started working, but it sometimes stops working again.
    There are many other sites that don't work, cnn.com, washingtonpost.com (sometimes), and a lot of others.
    I have contacted our internet service provider and they said that they had nothing to do with the problem.
    Some websites will not work at all. Safari tells me that it can't find the server. Some that do this are ups.com, computerworld.com, and others.
    I think that the problem is that, for some reason, our mac computers can't access certain servers where we are. (We are at a small ski resort (on the mountain) in Canada.) I think this because when a site doesn't load properly there are several errors and they are all "can't find host" errors from a couple of the same sites (ex. example.something.something).
    *Also, I ran a test on speedtest.net on the laptop and one of our iMacs and the results were way faster than anything actually loads/downloads or than the activity monitor shows, even when checking the activity monitor at the same time as running the test.

    When updating or restoring some iPods via a usb connection, it needs to be plugged into power via the charger to complete the process, and this is why you see that icon displayed. It's also why older iPods that required this step were supplied with a power adaptor as standard.
    You may be able to complete the process via a car charger, or via a powered firewire port on the computer (with the required 6 pin cable of course) if you have access to either of those. Or maybe visit an Apple store if one is nearby.

    I recently changed my apple ID. Everything I turn on my phone, it asks me to login into my apple ID but the old one keeps popping up instead of the new one.     I received an email to my gmail account, and when I tried to open in up with my Mail program - I got this message box

    It won't let me view any other email. I can't do ANYTHING with my mail program.

    Well, somehow, when I tried to re-open my mail, I clicked the other folders in the left-pane (ie. junk, sent, etc) and the message popup went away.
    So I guess this isn't an issue anymore.

  • Can see pictures, but PSE 3.2 won't let me access them! Tech support could not help!

    I have been through customer service, both online and live.  I have been through tech support with Adobe, online and live.  They have given me unlock codes, none have worked.  When I enter them, it kicks me out of the program.  They have essentially told me there is no support for 3.2.  I can see all the jpg's of my pictures behind the registration box, but it will not let me access them.  They do not show up in any document or picture file outside Adobe so I can't access them there.  I am very suprised that tech support had no "backdoor" way for me to get into the program and access my pictures.  It is extremely disappointing.  Does anyone anywhere have any advice on how to get them out?  I downloaded 7.0 on trial and it can't transfer them over.  Please someone help...tech support essentially told me they are locked in 3.2 and cannot be accessed.

    Not sure if the problem is the unlocking code or something else, but I have a few tips that might get you around the problem.
    First, Starter Edition does not have any files 'in' it; it is an index of pictures that you've imported into the program. What gets imported is the path to the file, not the file itself. What you see in Starter Edition is a preview thumbnail of the file that was drawn at the time of import, but it's not the actual file.
    Some of the other data that you may have added after importing the file IS only accessible from within the program; stuff like captions, tags, and dates, if you've reassigned them. That information is stored in a catalog file, which can be imported into Photoshop Elements. More on that later.
    But it's important to understand that the files are not locked into the program in any way, other than the custom data that you added to it with Starter Edition. It also means that if you are needing to get at the files that you used to browse using Starter Edition, you will have to use Windows Explorer, or even Picasa (which works similarly to Starter Edition; as an index of files you have on your computer).
    The first strategy I would employ to find files is to look in My Pictures for files. If' you imported files using the Photo Downloader, then it might have copied files into a Digital Camera Photos folder. Browse there and see if they are in there. It is possible that you may have pointed the Photo Downloader to some other location for downloading photos, but that's an advanced feature, so look for the Digital Camera Photos folder. While you're there, look for any other suspicious folders in your My Pictures folder; who knows where files could have gone, but I'd dig through all the folders there, just as I would turn the house upside down to find my car keys. Hopefully, you will be able to successfully locate the files you used to see within Starter Edition.
    If you would like to carry forward all the tag info that you've added to the files using Starter Edition, you could import the Starter Edition catalog into  Photoshop Elements 8 (there is a risk-free trial that you can download from https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?loc=en%5Fus&product=photoshop%5Felements).
    I am trying to help another customer who ran into a snag converting a catalog from version 2 of the program, but if you have 3.0 or 3.2, I can say I fully expect that to convert. Then you would have 30 days to try that out, and see if you would be willing to pay the $99 or so that it costs.
    If you don't want to pay, but you do want to save all that tag info that you've added to the file so that some other program could use it, you can select all your files in the Photoshop Elements Organizer, and use the Write Info to Files command to embed tag info to the files.
    Note that the Photoshop Elements Organizer works in the same basic way as the Starter Edition program; it indexes the files, but it doesn't copy any files INTO it. Also note that if you attempt to convert a catalog into Photoshop Elements, but the links to the pictures have been previously severed (as a result of moving the file from its original location), then the file will NOT be created in Organizer; it can only work with files that it finds.
    Since you mention that the program is crashing, if you still have the installer, you could try reinstalling; sometimes that helps, and if it's not a problem with the unlocking code, a new install might do the trick.
    Let me know if something doesn't add up; you should be able to preserve your catalog and import it into Photoshop Elements, even if you can't launch Starter Edition.
