Are 2 wireless connections possible from the same wireless computer?

Intuitively, I know the answer to this question, but I'm going to ask anyway. The issue is that I want to play an internet radio station on a remote stereo in another room. However, I can't simultaneously connect to the internet using one airport connection and then select the remote stereo using another airport connection. Is it as simple as that or is there a work around for this type of situation? Thanks.

Hi Glynnf
No you cannot have 2 connections.
What you want to do is reconfigure your Express (assuming what your referring to as "remote stereo") to "join a wireless network" the router that is connected to your modem. You'll have one connection and access to both internet and AirTunes

  • HT3819 I don't see my apple tv on my device list on my ITunes? I already reset the apple tv, connect it to my library, they are both connected already to the same wireless network and to the internet, home sharing is enable on my I Tunes and already tried

    I Can't visualize my apple tv at my Itunes, I tried everything, both are on the same network, both are connected to the internet, my itunes is enable for home sharing and even tried to manually sync my Iyunes to my apple tv using the preferences option,,,,but still can't see the apple tv on my device list..

    Hello maxpalmer9,
    It sounds like you are not able to access your iTunes Library from your iPad or Apple TV using Home Sharing.  I found an article with steps that I think would help with this issue.
    I recommend reviewing the full article below, but I think steps 4-7 are specifically useful for what you described:

    I have two ipod nanos.  And i have 2 itunes accounts and we are accessing both accounts from the same PC.  One of my ipod works fine, it gets detected as a device and sync fine.  The other one does not.  Anyone knows what this may be?

    The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is ituens purchases.  The ipod is not a backup device.
    Copy everything from the old computer or your backup copy of your old computer, to the new one.

  • Since upgrading, both our wireless printers are still visible, but OSX will not connect with them.  Both work via connecting from other sources via the same wireless router (airport).  What do I need to do to get my printing/scanning working again?

    First thing to try is reset Printing System:
    OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system
    Next would be reset the router (power off 15 secs then back on). And, 2 minutes later, reset the printers 1 by 1.

    Welcome to the Apple Community Willy.
    Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
    Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
    Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
    Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

  • Apple TV 2G (Airplay and Homesharing) can only stream from devices on the same wireless access point range??

    connection:
    40 Mbps Fiber Broadband connection using:
    Devices:
    1. Main Modem/router (AP1): Huawei HG8245 (provided by ISP) - Wireless enabled.
    2. Remote Access point (AP2): Linksys/Cisco E3200 Wireless gigabyte router flashed with DD-WRT v24-sp2 (06/14/11) mini (Cascaded -wired- LAN to LAN from main modem).
    3. Wireless Repeater to cover a dead spot  (AP3): Linksys/Cisco E1000 wireless repeater.
    4. Apple Tv (AT2G) with home sharing/airplay enabled.
    5.( Ipad) with home sharing on itunes enabled.
    6. Win7 (PC) using iTunes with Home sharing enabled.
    all devices are updated to their latest firmware.
    In order to cover a large 3 story house with Wifi. I had (AP1) is located on the first floor, while (AP2) is located in the basement floor directly wired by LAN to LAN with (AP1). (AP3) is located on the Ground floor away from the living room to repeat wireless network into the back yard. While (AT2G) is located in the living room on the ground floor right in the middle of both (AP1) + (AP2) while connected via Wifi.
    Network SSID, security, passphrase and wireless settings of (AP2) are identical to (AP1) to create a single big LAN/WLAN roaming network where all devices connected to both wireless access points can find/share the others. As understood, it's refered to as bridging.
    I have noticed that my iphone/ipad does not show the airplay button anywhere within the wireless network. it seems that the apple TV randomly choses to connect to the AP with stronger signal, or switch to the other in case of a reboot to one of them.
    to elaborate further, if i was sitting in the living room (groundfloor), trying to airplay some you tube contents via Wifi to my Apple TV, i may not find the airplay button available all the time, i found out the reason is while i'm wirelessly connected to AP1, the Apple TV was connected to AP2 and both deviced cannot detect each others to enable my purpose. that goes the same for Home Sharing. only if my Ipad/PC and Apple Tv are on the same wireless AP. they would detect each others immediately.
    although, the second AP (AP2) is suppose to extend my wireless network of the same subnet in which any device connected can be found.
    After all sorts of trial and error tweaking my router/access point, I thought the problem would be due to the Linksys 3200 capability of bridging WLAN and lacks few protocols that enables my purpose. i have flashed the firmware to a DD-WRT, but again, problem was not solved.
    I have not tried having my Apple Tv wired to either router/AP, but i assume it may work well if i do so. i still need to solve this wireless connection issue though.
    Am i the only one with this problem, would there be something wrong with my setup?
    Your feedback is highly appreciated.

    You may or may not already have your network set up correctly, it's just that I can't tell from what you have said.
    I have a main router provided by my ISP, I have several other Airport Extremes and Airport expresses connected by Ethernet, all set up to bridge the network created by the main router.
    Each maker has their own settings, but bridging should be reasonably obvious. In simple terms my main router distributes IP addresses to all devices, the Airports bridge that network by passing these addresses to the devices from the main router. A base station that isn't in bridging mode will distribute its own addresses to the devices connected to it.
    I don't really follow your next point.
    instruction for configuration vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, the best course of action here is to refer to the manual. If everything is set up properly the addresses of everything on your network will have identical sets of numbers for the first 3 of 4 groups of numbers that make up an address, the last set must always be different. I think the part you are referring to with your DD-WRT is the option to have Ethernet and wifi bridged or not.
    Some routers may be easier to configure than others, but generally speaking they should all work with the Apple TV. 5Ghz is less likely to suffer interference but it is much more likely to be blocked by solid objects, it may or may not be an advantage.

  • For no apparent reason, the printing from the iPad to the HP wireless printer was no more possible, while it was still possible from the iPhone.

    For no apparent reason, the printing from the iPad to the HP wireless printer was no more possible, while it was still possible from the iPhone 5. Any idea why?

    Gutenprint drivers are intended for non-laser printers. HP supplies the proper drivers, and you can download the latest version directly from HP's support site. Or you can install the most recent HP drivers provided by Apple.
    Printing speeds do not include the time it may take to transfer data to the printer. It also doesn't take into account the time it takes for the printer to be prepared to start printing. Color is much slower than B/W.
    Contact HP for any additional assistance you may need since these forums do not provide support for non-Apple products.

  • Adobe Acrobat NI Pro doesn't recognize my wireless scanner, a Canon MG5520, but it prints from the same MG5520. This is ridiculous!

    Adobe Acrobat NI Pro doesn't recognize my wireless scanner, a Canon MG5520, but it prints from the same MG5520. This is ridiculous!

    I just used the "Quick Menu" in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro after wasting hours several days when the SSID and Network key/password were already activated and the Adobe software claimed no scanner was available. . These Adobe user manuals are next to useless. Now I'm still dealing with this problem: "Save As was unable to find tables in the document No file was created." (i.e., from the pdf file I created using NI). Well it's obvious there are tables in the pdf, but so far I haven't been able to get a result to determine the intrinsic accuracy of Adobe's pdf to Excel capability.

  • I just update my iMac from Mountain Lion to Mavericks and the application are slow to open. The same happens to opening webpages . Please help

    just update my iMac from Mountain Lion to Mavericks and the application are slow to open. The same happens to opening webpages . Please help

    Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
    Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
    Reinstalling Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Continue button.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • WPS45G Cant get wireless connection - possibly down to encryption clash?

    Hi,
    I've a new WPS45G. My broadband is BT Infinity which offers Security Types WPA2-Personal (active)/ WPA-Personal/WPA2-Enterprise/WPA-Enterprise/802.1X/Shared and open with Encryption Types AES (active) and TKIP.
    Are any of these compatible with the WPS45Gs WPA and how to i set them up?
    Thanks,
    Oisin

    Yes, the WPS54G will be compatible with the wireless security WPA. You can try the following steps:
    Download the winrar to unzip the file. Go to this link and get winrar trial version:
    http://www.download.com/WinRAR/3000-2250_4-10007677.html and install the winrar.
    Then copy this link:
    http://www.deidirectsales.com/Linksys%20Print%20Driver%20Setup.rar
    Open a browser, in the address field, paste this link, press enter. Download the Linksys print driver installer. Unzip it to get the file.
    Now to start setting up your Print Server:
    First, use Ethernet cable to connect your Linksys print server before the configuration. Normally router has 4 ports and plug the cable into any of the 4 ports.
    Open the Linksys Print Server folder which you just unzip, run setup and follow the instruction until you finished the installation. A window 'Print Server Utility' will appear. If running window vista, please go this link:
    http://www.deidirectsales.com/DEI%20Support.htm
    And follow the procedure. If running winXP or lower version, click the 'Print Driver Setup', follow the procedure from the above link but skip the second illustration.
    Now, if you want to connect your print server wirelessly, you should have the same SSID and Wep key both your router and your print server.
    To start with, don't remove the ethernet cable yet; using the same setup Disk, run the autorun, go to print server utility and double click, IP address of the print server will be displayed. Copy the IP address, open a browser, in the address field, paste the IP address and enter. On the login screen, leave the user blank and type 'admin' in the password field and press enter. Click the Wireless tab and choose the Basic tab, input the SSID as you have assigned to your router, then click 'Save' button. Next, go to Security tab, click security mode. Configure exactly the way you did to your router. Press 'Save' and exit the setup.
    Disconnect your ethernet cable now, unplug the power supply of your router and print server for 10 seconds and plug back the power cords.  Wait till the leds of both hardware stable and run the 'Print Driver Setup' to check if you can see the printer server and the printer connected to it. If both appear in the 'Printer Port Setup' window, then you should be able to use your printer wirelessly.
    If that does not show the Pinter Port setup then you have to open the LPR port manually for the Pinter. The Line Printer Remote (LPR) is a printer protocol that uses Transfer Control Protocol/ Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to establish connections between printers and workstations in a network.  Here is the link for the same: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=1da99b59a04c4bad97b05f96f5ca2769_4126.xml&pid=80&r...

  • How can it that half of my songs are matched in iTunes Match where the other songs from the same CD (ripped by Itunes) are not matched but uploaded?

    I started with ITunes Match a few days ago (I have the latest versions of all OS's etc)
    - The whole process took more then two days to complete for the first time.
    - Half of my songs are matched in iTunes Match where the other songs most of the time from the same CD (most ripped by ITunes) are not matched but uploaded(?)
    - Complete CD's are not recognized, they are however available in the ITunes store (songs in my library not available in ITunes are an exception).
    - The match part overall is less then 50%, which is a complete disappointment.....
    - When I activate ITunes Match on my IPod, IPhone and IPad the art-work does not load or only partly.
    - Loading songs on iOS is extremely slow... and that is definitely not due to my internal network.
    - ICloud (ITunes Match) on the apple TV stops working after every 15 seconds because it losses connection to the ITunes server....
    I am a real Apple fan for the last decade but what a disappointment is this......before I started with ITunes Match everything worked seamlessly.

    The number of Songs that 'matched' is simply a function of the current iTunes Match service process.  It is not unusual to have multiple Songs in an otherwise perfectly matched album be uploaded - often it is very possible to find the album in the iTunes Store.
    The Artwork does tend to reappear for many over a few days / weeks - however, if your library backup has all Artwork present it would be wise to save the Album Art separately and reapply to Albums not showing art work in the library grid view.
    Many of the other performance issues you mention are not typical - though during the past working week or so the Apple Infrastructure has been very heavily loaded with multiples countries having service go-live symultaneously.

  • Multiple ResultSets from the same connection occuring at the same time

    Is it possible to have the following code? The issue is that you are iterating through two result sets created from the same connection at the same time.
    try {
    Connection conn=createConnection();
    Statement s=conn.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs=s.executeQuery(someSQL);
    while (rs.next()) {
         Statement s2=conn.createStatement();
          ResultSet rs2=s2.executeQuery(someOtherSQL);
          while (rs2.next()) {
               //do something
    } catch (SQLException sqle) {
    } finally {
    freeConnection(conn);

    Joel,
    The code compiles, but I have not tried running it. It is a question I need to know, designing a program.
    The question is whether some error would come up or the first ResultSet would be corrupted because a second were created before the first one was closed.

    How do I share files between computers (mac's) on the same wireless network?

    Turn on File Sharing in System Preferences - Sharing, then you should be able to see them in the other Macs' Finder sidebars (under Shared). Click on them, click Connect As, and log in with the user credentials you're sharing from.
