  • Clip frame rate wrong in imovie 11

Ever since I upgraded to imovie 11 all of my video clips show a 60 in a yellow frame - both in events and projects - with the message "indicates clip frame rate (60fps) is not a multiple of the current project (25 fps)". What does this mean? As I said shows in events and projects. To stop audio jumping I detached all audio from clip but how do I fix the clip frame rate? Assume this causes "jumpy replay" problems. How do I fix and where??? Please help. Could not find solutions anywhere.

Are you speaking about this particular change of frame rates or any?
Having transfered Super 8 film that was shot at 18 fps, I have little choice but to change the rate. So far everything seems to be working out fine. For 24 fps iMovie does a pull-down of 1 1 2; for 30, 2 2 1. I'm a little confused as to whether I should use 24 or 30 fps. I'll be asking about this in a new thread.
The easiest way to change a projects framerate is to edit the project xml file.
Right click on your iMovie project file and choose "Show package contents..." (or something similar)
Edit the "Project" file (no extension) using the free Textwrangler editor or a plist capable editor.
Find the node "frameRate" and update to 30.
Really? That's a cool trick! But it sounds like it could easily mess things up. Have you tried this and with what scenarios?

  • Are different frame rate clips automatically conformed to that of the project?

I have a 25p project and have dropped in some clips shot at 30p.
I thought I would have to conform those clips to play at 25p but they appear to be doing that already and to my surprise there is no orange render line above them.
Is this correct and if so, would any other frame rates (50p or 60p etc.) be conformed to 25fps with no rendering required?

YYes, clips conform to the project frame rate.

  • IMovie Frame Rate Troubles

I am trying to make a montage video. I've imported a YouTube video through QuickTime into iMovie and changed the frame rate so the clip matches the project. But the video still apears jumpy, anyway I can resolve this?

What are the frame rates of your project and of the YouTube clip?
Keep in mind that if your project is, say 30fps, and you add a clip to is that ist only 15 fps, all iMovie can do is duplicate frames so that there are 30 per second.
In other words it can't create intermediate frames that don't exist and the clip will appear jumpy.

  • IMovie 2013 frame rate

In the previous version of iMovie, the frame rate was shown for any clips that did not match that of the main project. Is this also a feature of the updated version of iMovie? I cannot find it anywhere. Neither can I find the default frame rate of new iMovie projects. Can anyone help?

    Hello.
I have the same problem and i thought the problem was on my Leopard. But after read many post i conclude that is not. It looks like an iLife issue that must be fixed. I tryed an workaroud using iMovie HD, instead iMovie'08, to share project to iDVD and the video result was excelent, but with a horrible delay between audio and video. I'm working with a HD 1080 video. Still not solved the problem and seeking a solution. Will Apple fix it?

  • IMovie - "Convert Entire Clip" reduced clip's frame rate

    Hi,
I was making a video using iMovie.
I wanted to speed up or slow down some clips, so I clicked the "Convert the Entire Clip" button.
After the clips were converted, I noticed that the frame rate of my clips was reduced. It looked lagging in most part of the clips. The original format of the clips is mp4, iMovie converted them to .mov format
Is there a setting to improve/maintain the frame rate during the conversion?
    Thanks.

Thanks to all who have responded,
I had planned to create short movie clips for emailing but wanted something quick and easy to do so.
It would be great if I could from iMovie select a clip and share to QT then email the results but it seems that each time I will have to ‘work’ on the clip to prepare it for sharing. I don’t want to go to that much trouble each time so I doubt I will use this means.
I don’t understand why it is not easy to do so. Each time I try to open a QT clip in WMP it says it can’t use the file. I had hoped it would convert the movie to MPV or better if QT would convert to something other than files most PC’s won’t open. There are now four PC users that can’t open the file and one that can. 1 out of 5 is not too impressive.
By the way, I don’t know what Sorenson is.
I create numerous iMovies but never use QT even though I keep buying Pro each system upgrade just in case.
Is there a quicker solution to sharing by email?

  • So close to fixing this problem with iMovie clip frame rate!

    Hi! Please help!
I'm recording short videos in iMovie using the built-in camera on my Macbook Pro. I did this yesterday and again this morning without incident. Everything worked great. Then, this afternoon, I made another video - EXACTLY the same way I'd done the other ones - and yet, this time, the clip mysteriously recorded at 18fps instead of 30fps. As a result (I think) the audio is out of synch. I have detached the audio as some have suggested in other forums, but this has not fixed the problem.
QUESTION: How can I convert the clip from 18fps to 30fps?? Is this even possible?? I'd really like to avoid re-recording, if at all possible.
I am a novice. Please explain any solutions to me as though I am a child. Thank-you!

  • How can I change the frame rate of a project in imovie 10?

My problem is: I made a gopro movie with a frame rate of 50 fps. I imported it to imovie. So far so good.
Scrubbing over the clip i found one single frame which looked amazing. So I draged some seconds of that clip into the timeline (the project if you will).
The goal was to make a freeze frame out of this "spezial" frame.
Unfortunately I could not find this frame in the timeline any more - it's gone.
I think imovie dropped half of the frames to fit the clip into the projekt, which I assume is using 24-25fps.
The only solution I found is to decrease the speed of the clip to let's say 50%.
But is there a better way?
Can I change the frame rate of the projekt somehow? I think it was possible in imovie 11.
    many thanks

iMovie 10 won't share at 50 fps and so for 25 fps output probably drops every other frame.  This is different from Imovie 9 which could handle 50 fps.  However, if you do 50% speed it will use all the available frames so that is indeed the way to find the frame you want.  After you have made a freeze frame I think you can switch the clip back to normal speed.  I am not aware of a better way in iMovie 10  By the way there is also no facility to export a still of a frame in iMovie.
As a GoPro user I think FCP 10.1 would be the best choice.

  • HOW DO I CHANGE FRAME RATE IN iMOVIE 10.0.5?

WHERE IS THE OPTION TO CHANGE THE FRAME RATE OF A VIDEO IN iMOVIE 10.0.5? I JUST CAN NOT FIND IT, IT USED TO BE ON THE BAR IN THE OPTION OF PROJECT PROPERTIES BUT IT IS NOT THERE ANYMORE, PLEASE HELP.

The DV specification is to use drop frame TC. Unless you have a camera that's switchable all DV NTSC will be drop frame, which is why FCE works in drop frame. This is not a function you can switch in FCE. You would need to work with Final Cut Pro to get this functionality.

  • Timeline frame rate and exposure correction capabilities of the latest iMovie

My background. I have been trying to create movies made from clips that can be played back at 60 fps. I have been using a Nikon V1 camera for creating video clips. It records 1080 HD movies that are interlaced, but at 59.94 fps (Double NTSC) rather than the 60i standard of 29.98 fps (Standard NTSC). It also records 720p60 footage as well. I would like to maintain the temporal resolution of footage (the "video look") I get with the camera as well as perform good exposure and color correction on dark/underexposed footage. I currently use iMovie '09 and Final Cut Express 4. My current computer runs on Snow Leopard, but I cannot update to Mavericks or Yosemite that the latest versions of iMovie or Final Cut Pro require. I intend to upgrade my computer in the next few months, but what I get will depend on what video editing software I figure I will need. Hard tech specs regarding this version of iMovie, however, are hard to come by. I am hoping someone with experience using the latest version of iMovie can help answer a couple of questions.
Regarding timeline frame rate - right now both iMovie '09 and FCE 4 destroy the "video look" I want by forcing the frame rate to go down to 30 fps in the timeline. Does the current version of iMovie support a true 60 fps in the timeline? Playing with the software and provided skateboarding footage at a local Apple Store indicates it does. And does it handle interlaced footage? Also, can it handle 24 fps footage (which another camera of mine records at) actually at 24 fps?
With regards to exposure and color correction, I find iMovie '09's capabilities lacklustre. If a clip needs better correction than iMovie can deliver, I import the clip into FCE 4 and either use the "Color Corrector" filter along with highlight and midtone exposure sliders to improve the exposure, or Gamma correction along with some hue adjustments. Can iMovie adjust midtones, highlights, and shadows separately, or do Gamma correction, or does it just do basic exposure and contrast correction?
Would I be better off considering using Final Cut Pro X instead of iMovie.

    • I made the switch from using iMovie for about 10y  to the BigBoysToy when FCPX appeared - never want back! Although just an (enthusiastic) hobbyist, it 'beams' your projects into new spheres ... fun is: the better YOU get, the more it offers... you can use FCPX as a 'iMovie-on-steroids', or as a Hollywood-tool ... up to you.

    • Whatever Mac - FCPX demands additional platters … a mobile set-up? Why not, but add at last 2 additional HDDs (luckily: tiny 'powerless' 2.5"/usb3 HDDs are meanwhile fast enough for average needs) to your travel-luggage …
    • Working-space … I'm privileged to have a working-desk in my household; although 21st cent, I need tons of paper for my editing work (hu?? Yes, scribbling notes, time codes, 'settings' of color-values, coordinates, names of subjects, …), the camera(s), headphones, SDcards, my obligatory cup of coffee, ext. audio-recorder, a mic, a magazine with latest tricks 'n hints to accomplish dit&dat, ..... the idea of the mobile-working space is 'romantic', esp. for any editing work … in my reality!
    • in the past, I had a charming furniture, an 'office on wheels', you opened a latch: my monitor, Mac, keyboard, stuff. With some DIY, it had ext. connectors for power line and ethernet (wireless was too lame those days) ... the whole thingie was parked in some corner, and when Daddy did movies, I rolled it to some charming place near the window, and I was ready to go!.....

  • Frame rate difference, iMovie 10.0

My video in the library plays at a much higher frame rate than when I put it into the project window, and after exporting it is still on the lower end even at the highest quality.  Anyone have any ideas as to whats wrong or how I might adjust the quality in the project area?

I found a note thru Google which said that the latest version of iMovie fixed whether to use PAL or NTSC from what the first bit of video added to the project was - I mean if the first video was a bit of PAL, then iMovie made a PAL video regardless of whether any of the other bits of video were PAL or NTSC.
So the suggestion was to make a tiny 30 second blank bit of PAL and use that as the FIRST section of film added to the project.
If you find this reference again do let me have the link.
The last version of iMovie has what you need, but not the very latest version which works as I've described above - automatically setting the output from the first section.

Okay so i had an iphone 5.  I backed it up on icloud. Then i got the new iphone 5s i restored ot from icloud from my previous iphone 5.  Now everything works find execept now the games are slowy and drops the frame rate and look choppy. Then i restarted my iphone 5s as a new device downloaded the same apps even the ones optimized for ios 7 and the games still lag. And i just got my iphone 5s replace.  The funny thing is.  While im playing games and their running choppy and slow and if i take a snap shot inside the phone. They run smooth and HD but just for a few seconds and boom they go back to slow and choppy.  Is it the ios 7 or the iphone 5s it self? Like i said this is my replacement iphone 5s because the other 5s did the same thing. And it was running slowly.

As far as I know you can't delete the primary email address for an iCloud account.  It's assigned when the account is created.  But your neighbor wouldn't have been able to get into your iCloud account without your Apple ID and password.  Are you sure the account wasn't still on your phone when you gave it to him?
You could migrate a copy of your data to a new iCloud account but I would still be concerned that someone else was using my old account, which presumably still has your data in it.
I'm fairly certain that you're going to have to have iCloud support help you sort this one out as they may have the ability to make changes to an existing account that users can't.  Make an appointment with the genius bar at a nearby Apple store and have them take a look at it.  If necessary, they should be able to contact iCloud support for you.
