Are all ipods Mac compatible

Sorry if this is a "duh" question, but I am looking at refurbished ipods on the internet and many say that the System Requirements are Windows whatever.
The do not mention anything about Mac compatibility. Are not all ipods compatible with System X? Thanks, kids.

I imagine they don't mention Mac compatibility because it generally isn't an issue.
Almost any mac that can run OS X can handle an iPod.
So yes. All iPods are Mac compatible.

  • Are all Ipods compatible with Imac 2007?

We are trying to get a new ipod and don't really care what gen it is. We just want to know it'll work with our comp.

Yes, if the iMac is running a new enough Mac OS X version to support it; Mac OS X 10.6.8 can sync with all iPods that have been released up to now.

  • Are all MP3 players compatible with Macs?

I just bought a Creative Nomad MuVo TX FM MP3 player, only to find that it is designed for a Windows/PC environment. It does not recognise songs which have been loaded onto it through iTunes. Does anybody know how to fix this - or is it the case that only Ipods are compatible with Macs?

If I'm understanding you correctly, the Creative Nomad MuVO TX is appearing as a valid device inside the "Source" list of iTunes, but the files you copy over are not playable on the device? If that's the case, it's likely to do with iTunes having a default CD import file format of M4A and not MP3.

  • Are all iPod cables able to sync and recharge?

I bought a second cable because a family member had lost theirs and was borrowing mine. It was a Griffin. I discovered that I was unable to sync my ipod with the new cable and though I thought my ipod was broken, discovered that the cable was for recharging the battery only. I returned it and purchased a Belkin instead. As I was tearing apart the packaging I discovered a small label on the cable itself stating that it was for charging only.
Until this experience I would have assumed that all cables are capable of both recharging and syncing your ipod to itunes. Given that's not the case, I wonder why they don't mark the packaging more clearly stating that the cable will do one and not the other?
Can I safely assume that an Apple branded cable with both sync and recharge?

claimed to be compatible with ipod touch
One of the problems is where as once there was only one touch version, there are now two versions.
Unless the package specifically states '2nd generation touch', the product is designed to work with the 1st generation touch. For example, Belkin has a page specifically for iPod touch 2G accessories and I don't see ANY syncing/charging cables for the 2G touch.
Griffin Technology does claim to have a USB to Dock Cable for syncing/charging 2G touches.

  • Are all 'maintenance programs' compatible with Firefox? I'd like to install one, but don't want to use one that will change my Firefox settings.

I want to install a 'computer maintenance program' but want to make sure that the one I use won't have a problem with or change my Firefox settings. Do you have any suggestions as to which program to use?

    Thanks a lot Cor-el,
I actually want to use a different user interface language. I was able to install the spell-checkers and dictionaries previously, but I didn't know what to do with the UI language. I checked the links you kindly provided but apparently, the downloadable language packs are not compatible with Firefox 31, which they set up in my office. Is there any way to force the install?
I also checked out the locale switcher but since the language pack extension is not compatible with firefox 31... If you have time to spare, I would be very interested in finding out more about your desktop shortcut solution.
I use a mac at home, and language-wise it's so much better. My own profile is completely in English whereas my wife is in French, which simplifies things (I just made sure to tell her to use safari if she wants to browse in French!)
One solution I used in the past was to reinstall firefox in English, but I have to do that every time the IT guys update FF, and then, you don't want to stand out if you want to remain in their good graces.
Thank you very much for your help anyway,
    Remy

  • SCSI: are all tyes backwardly compatible to SCSI-1 (Centronics 50)?

..... but with slower speeds, as with USB 2.0->1.1 ?
Is it as simple as getting an appropriate cable adapter to match configuration?
    Thanks for your time.

The answer to your question, "In principle, yes." But there are some complications. The most important is that the while the scsi device itself maybe "compatible" (I use the term "compatible" to mean there is no inherent conflict between the computer and the scsi device) one usually needs a driver. i.e. software, for the computer to communicate with the device. This is device specific software, and is always provided by the device manufacturer. And there are many many manufacturers of scsi devices who have not made, and will never make, the necessary drivers.
A case in point is the venerable scsi scanner. (They used to cost $3000 and more.) A new Mac with a suitable scsi card has no trouble recognizing the device; i.e. System Profiler will see the scanner. (I have tested antique scsi scanners with OS 10.4.) But actually to use the scanner one needs scanning software. And the odds are they do not exist.
If you were to tell us what scsi device(s) you want to use, there may be someone here who has already done it. So please tell us more.

  • Digital Camcorders - What Kinds Are Good AND Mac Compatible???

Well, the subject kinda says it but so what are they? Im looking for good digital camcorders that have good video quality and that are Mac/iMovie compatible... My price range is pretty much anything $275 and under.

In that price range, you are limiting yourself to only a few, and video quality will be OK, but not great.
If the camera has a firewire jack on it, you should be able to connect it to your mac and capture to iMovie.
MiniDV tape cameras are the standard, but some of the newer hard drive/DVD cameras (AVCHD format) will work with the newest version of iMovie.
What's definitely necessary is the firewire jack. Cameras in your price range from Sony, Panasonic, JVC, etc. should work.

  • Are all usb chargers compatible for iphone

My iPhone 4 keeps going black for some unknown reason.  I did the recovery mode and it worked for awhile then it went out again.  Could it be possible that a non-iPhone charger cause issues?  Or is it something wrong with the phone?

It is certainly not out of the question.

  • Want to Buy Camcorder that has Mac Compatible Software

I am in the market for a Camcorder in the $300 - $400 price range. I would like to find one that has Mac compatible software. All the ones that I have checked on Amazon, etc. are only PC compatible.
Are there any Mac compatible Camcorders available in my price range?
    Thanks,
    Jim

Most consumer camcorders will work with iMovie, which comes preinstalled on your Mac. You don't need any special software to capture/ingest the footage.

  • All iPods now iPod Photos?

I'm confused. I know the new iPods apple is putting out are color display, but are they photo-capable? I thought that the new Nano wasn't until I saw someone complaining their photo capabilities weren't working.
I have the original iPod Photo, and basically am wondering: are all iPods being made now considered photo ipods? If not, which are? Is there a diff. between iPod and iPod Photo anymore?
EDIT - I just looked in the store, and noticed that they are only selling iPod, iPod shuffle, iPod nano and iPod U2. The iPod they are selling is color and comes only in 20GB or 60GB. What happened to the 30GB photo that everyone was all up in arms about a few months ago???

Apple rationalised their iPod range a little while ago so the full sized iPods are available in either 20Gb or 60GB colour display, shows photos, or the U2 special edition and I think I have just seen a Harry Potter special edition as well. So the 20 and 60GB models are the photo iPods. And the U2 and Harry Potter are basically the 20GB version of the standard colour phot iPod with the U2 or Harry Potter stuff on them. All would appear to support photo display.
