Are android worms causing "accessory not supported" alerts?

I've noticed that this problem is particularly bad when I'm in a public area.Is it possible that nearby android phones infected with some virulent worm program have tried unsuccessfully to negotiate a connection with my iPhone? Hence "device not supported", et el.
Putting this question out there for the security experts. Thanks.

Malware on Android devices cannot affect your iPhone or iPad. And, unless your iOS device has been jailbroken, the possiblity of having any malware affect it is pretty close to zero.
When are you seeing the "Device not supported" message? What are you trying to do when it appears?

  • When I tap a photo in my iPhone photo gallery, the photo appears but there is always a "this movie format not supported" alert and then the alert goes away and the photo appears. These are photos I've taken with the iPhone and aren't even movies.

It's very odd. I take photos with my iPhone and then later go to view the photos in the Photo Gallery on my iPhone. The photos to appear, but I keep getting "this movie format not supported" alerts, even though I am looking at photos taken by my iPhone. The alert appears briefly just after the photo appears and then the alert goes away and I can see the photo. They are just still photos and not movies. Why wouldn't the iPhone recognize the format of photos it is taking?

That thread helped for a time.  But now it seems as though my computer is back to slow again.  But, some of the jargon is over my head as well.  Not sure I knew quoite everything they were talking about.  But thanks a lot for that, it helped I probably just need to reread it and follow the instructions again.  Thanks so much.

  • Camera kit accessory not supported

    Hi,
I have an iPad 1 and a camera connection kit that works fine. It was working up to a week ago on a new ipad2. I updated my mac to 10.7.1 and synced my ipad2 for the first time in a while before going on a trip. During the trip I tried to use the camera kit but the ipad2 is now saying accessory not supported. The camera connector still works fine with my old ipad1
    Any help or ideas?
    Paul

    Thanks for the reply
    - Both are the same version 4.3.5
    - The reset has not worked
    - Both the SD card reader and the USB device when plugged in will cause the ipad2 to say "This accessory is not supported by this iPad"
    - They both work on the old iPad and I can download the images
Interestingly, I also had a problem sync'ing some jpegs to the ipad2 and had to delete the latest folder so the sync could complete. iTunes was just saying that the ipad could not display those files, yes they're just straight jpegs.
I've backed up the device, I'm going to try a full reset

  • Car stereo - 3GS "accessory not supported"

Anyone else got this? My 08 Subaru STI has a ipod connector that charged my 1st Gen Iphone and allowed me to play music from it on my car stereo. Now I got the 3GS and it says the same thing as before "accessory not supported" but this time it says it won't be able to charge.
Anybody with something similiar? Has this been a change for 3GS that non supported accessorys won't charge now?
    Thanks

This was changed with the last generation iPhone and iPods. They are using the usb pin on the dock connector to charge the phone now instead of the firewire pin as used on your old first gen iphone. There are companies that do make adapters though. Search for "ipod 5v adapter" in google.

  • Keep getting accessory not supported when charging in romania.  I have a converter for wall and a att USB cord

Keepgettimg accessory not supported when charging in romania. I have all the correct connections. ie wall converter, USB cord etc.

If you know the IP address of the printer, then you can check if there is a working path between the Mac and printer. This can be done using Network Utility or a web browser.
If you open Network Utility and select the Ping tab, you can enter the IP address of the Kodak and then press the Ping button. If there is a working connection then you should get a reply to each packet sent.
With the web browser, many devices have a built-in web server so you can type the IP address of the printer into the browser and if there is a working connection then you will open the printers web page.
So, are you able to confirm you have a working connection between the Mac and printer?

When I attach my Digital AV (HDMI) adapter to my iPad, an error message appears saying "This Accessory Not Supported". Is there a problem with the adapter? Or with my iPad.

    For the 4G
    Try:
    - Reset the dock
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • Accessory not supported

ipod syas accessory not supported when i put it to my car adapter and headphones

Yes it will cause you grief. Go tot the Apple store and get them to replace the keyboard, as that is the same message I got just prior to 2 keyboard failures. The iPad puts too much stress on the keyboard connector tab, and it eventually becomes loose and non functional.

  • Lightening to 30 Pin Connector- Accessory not Supported

My Lightening to 30 PIN Apple connector is having issues with my ipod nano- 7th generation.
It keeps saying "accessory not supported"

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Did this start happening after an iOS update? Sometimes an iOS update will break compatibility.
    Sometimes this works:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings

    Howdy pbfrost,
You should first check to make sure that your device is compatible with the iPad. See this article -

According to the Apple's store requirements for the Seagate Backup, it needs to be used with a computer. See this page -

When I connect the USB dongle from the camera connection kit I get an accessory not supported by iPad message. The card reader triggered the same msg but works now. Same msg with vga. Others have posted this problem but the only suggestion anyone has offered is to reboot, which doesn't help. I've tried.

Thanks Fred. The nearest Apple store is about two hours away, so we did the next best thing & took it to Best Buy. It stumped the "Apple Guy" there. Apparently when an Apple product is turned on it works. Period. I'm impressed that the products are normally so dependable--it just stinks that I got the one in a million that's not. Anyway, now we wait for a service call Tuesday morning. Thanks again!
