Are any Bluetooth PCMCIA cards compatible?

I am wanting to get a bluetooth mouse for my wife's G4 Titanium Powerbook, and I would prefer not having to use a USB dongle due to the flap having to be open on the back.
Are there any PCMCIA Bluetooth adapters that are OSX compatible?

also, version 3.0 of that 3com card is the only one that will work in Mac OSX, and even then you have to download a special driver called CardBluesSuite. any other version isn't going to work out for you, and forget about using the rebranded HP one. the card is impossible to find. i personally haven't seen one on eBay for quite some time!

    Hello Phillip,
I do not believe that we have any PCIe CAN cards. Here is a link to the PCI CAN cards that will work on LabVIEW Real Time(http://sine.ni.com/np/app/main/p/bot/no/ap/icomm/lang/en/pg/1/sn/n24CI,n21:17,n17:icomm,n19:Real%20T...). Please let me know if you have anymore questions. Have a great day!

  • Equium L10 doesn't recognise any wireless PCMCIA card that I install

    Hi,
I've just bought a brand new Toshiba Equium L10 and I can't get any wireless card to install. I have tried different models from Belkin, Netgear and MSI, all of which work perfectly fine on other laptops but not on this one.
The L10 is a clean Windows XP SP2 build straight from the retailer and I am carrying out the following steps to install the wireless network card:
    1. Start Windows XP SP2 and log on as admin
    2. Run software for the wireless card
    3. Insert wireless card
At this stage, windows only recognises the wireless card as an ethernet adaptor and won't install the drivers. Even if I install it manually and point it specifically to the correct directory, it still fails to pick up the drivers and says that there is nothing in the directory for the hardware that I am installing.
I have the latest BIOS for the L10 and have tried all of the following to no avail:
    1. Disable USB legacy support in BIOS
    2. Disable built in ethernet
    3. Run Toshiba PC Diagnostics (reports that everything is working just fine including PCMCIA)
    4. Rebuild laptop using supplied Toshiba DVD
Does anyone have any idea what could possibly be wrong? This is driving me crazy and I've never had this kind of issue with any other laptop. Is this a known fault with Toshiba laptops and what's the fix?
Is it a Win XP SP2 problem? Is my laptop faulty?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    K.

Can you post the details of this card?
Did you contact the PCMCIA card manufacture for support? Maybe there is a new driver release for this card.
I have noticed some problems with a Vodafone PCMICA card on a Satellite P10. This card has caused a blue screen on the unit. Well, the disabling of hyper threading technology in the BIOS has solved this issue. On another cards the new driver release has also solved some strange problems.
However, what I would say is there are many things which could have a bad influence.
Firstly I would recommend to ask the card manufacture for a support.

  • Firmware for 3Com Bluetooth PCMCIA card

I've just recieved my new 3com pcmcia bluetooth card (3CRWB6096). According to google it was supposed to work with Linux.
I think it will, but there's something about needing the windows firmware file- BT3CPCC.bin. I have said file, and have tried putting it in both /etc/bluetooth/firmware and /lib/firmware (where the community package bluez-firmware puts similar files for other cards).
However, I'm still getting the following in dmesg on plugging the card in...
pccard: PCMCIA card inserted into slot 0
    pcmcia: registering new device pcmcia0.0
bt3c_interrupt: Call of irq 4 for unknown device
    bt3c_open: Firmware request failed
bt3c_interrupt: Call of irq 4 for unknown device
    bt3c_open: Firmware request failed
bt3c_interrupt: Call of irq 4 for unknown device
So the question is- where do I put this file? What should it be called? Is it in the kernel config or something? Where do I find out?
Any pointers would be very much appreciated
    Thanks in advance
    Simon

    Some progress...
Oh I'm stupid. It turned out that I hadn't properly extracted the firmware, and that the file was actually empty. Once I managed to get the file out of the package, I put it in /lib/firmware/BT3CPCC.bin and it now loads it. However, hciconfig reports the device as having the address 00:00:00:00:00, and times out when trying to start or reset it.
I found someone with a Debian laptop and bluez installed at a recent LUG meeting. It worked! So now I know that it's possible. I then downloaded debian and installed in on a spare partition. After finally realising that I hadn't upgraded to a 2.6 kernel, I got my card working there as well. That's with bluez 2.15 and a patched kernel 2.6.8, which is quite a lot older than Arch's packages (I"m especially surprised at the kernel version).
So, where can I get hold of Arch packages for bluez 2.x?
    Thanks
    Simon

  • Compatible PCMCIA cards long range compatible with macosx (300mW)

    Hi everyone,
Does anyone know any pcmcia card compatible with a macintosh long range ?
    working at 300mW ?
    Greatfully ,
    Nuno Faisca

i don't think that there is any compatibilty issue betwen the wireless cards and the range expander ...
in order to set up the range expander , use the following steps :
1)connect the expander to the computer
    2)assign a static ip add to the computer ( 192.168.1.10 )
3)try to access the expander using http://192.168.1.240 . the default login password is admin
4)ensure that the wireless settings on the expander web interface are same as that on the router's wireless settings ...
5)once the wireless settings are done , unplug the expander from the computer .. remove the static ip add from the computer
6)do a power cycle to the network and check whether the expander works now ..

I rebooted but still no success.
    I also tried this:

  • Getting Contacts entered into Car's Bluetooth via PCMCIA Card & Macbook Pro

I have a iPhone 4 and have it paired to my Mercedes bluetooth.  Contacts (which create the phone book in the car's bluetooth) have to be created using a PC MCIA memory card inserted in the vehicle.
Does anyone know how I can create the contacts with a Macbook Pro and get them to a PCMCIA card?

Have now tried to connect the MacBook Pro to the Lexus, but although the mac sees the Lexus as a headset (as it should) when I enter the Passcode, they fail to shake hands so the Mac is not added as a 'phone' on the Lexus. This is fairly understandable as the Mac will not be presenting its self as a Phone>Smartphone device, but rather a Computer>Laptop device.
I thought I could get it to spoof the Phone>Smartphone bit using the Bluetooth Explorer app, but that doesn't seem to work as I had hoped.
Something else I noticed using Bluetooth Device Inspector (http://www.radioactivetoy.com/), my OS 10.5.4 MacBookPro shows the following Bluetooth services:
    Serial Port (SPP)
    AV remote Control (AVRCP)
my iMac and iBook which are both on 10.4.9 show the following services:
    OBEX Object Push (OPP)
    OBEX File Transfer (FTP)
    Serial Port (SPP)
It seems Mac OS 10.5.x has removed the OPP protocol from the Bluetooth device. I'm pretty sure OPP is what the Lexus would use to receive the Address Book data on a phone, so this would be needed.
As a result of this, I tried connecting the iBook to the Lexus, but still had the same connection issues as before, so I wasn't even able to test the contact transfer.
Unless someone knows how to get the mac to show as a mobile phone, I don't hold out much hope for this method of transferring contacts

  • 600X hang-up w/PCMCIA cards

My 600X uses WinXP SP3 and operated fine until one day it began to hang up when accessing my wireless home network.  I was using a D-Link PCMCIA card and tried to replace the card with other D-Link devices with the same results.  I also used an Airlink card with the same results.  I tried a few different Ethernet network cards with the same results.  I have replaced the PCMCIA cage twice with the same results.  I installed another copy of Windows XP again with the same results.  No PCMCIA cards seem to work in either slot.
In addition, I used a Microsoft Bluetooth mouse and keyboard using the USB adapter from Microsoft.  After my problems with the PCMCIA issues, my Bluetooth devices would net be recognized by the Bluetooth wireless system.
I think the problem may be in either a bad connection from the PCMCIA cage to the motherboard or some kind of networking driver issue(s) with the computer bios.  PC Doctor said the PCMCIA slots are operational.  Is there something that I overlooked that can be changed or modified to allow the networking from the computer work?
    John
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I solved the mystery of the hang ups.
After I replaced the system board and the keyboard (a connector failed during the system board replacement) there was no change in the operation of the computer, i.e. it continued to hand when the adaptors were energize.  After some investigation, I found that the problem had to do with software issues.  I am running Windows XP SP3 which has some kind of a different encryption method of using wireless programs and processes compared to prior OS configurations.  Because of this, many PCMCIA cardbus adapters won't work with SP3 unless the card manufacturer provides a special driver to work with SP3.  My D-Link DWL-G650 Rev B does not work with it nor does D-Link intend to supply a driver for this release.  Rev C of the same card comes with a SP3 compatible driver but not Rev B.  The same is true of the Airlink101 AWLC 5025 Cardbus adapter.  The old drivers were causing the computer to hang up when operating with WIn XP SP3.
I changed to an N series of cardbus adapter (Belkin F5D8013 Rev 1) and the adapter and computer seem to work ok but I am having problems with the Belkin Utility to work.  The Windows wireless utility works ok so the computer is functional.  Maybe Belkin has a trick to get it to work.  At any rate, the computer works.

  • Macbook pro & vodafone 3G PCMCIA card-how can I use this?

    Hi
I have recently bought a macbook pro and love it but I need a way of using my company vodafone 3G PCMCIA card on the move. Do you know of a compatible USB card holder I can slide the vodafone 3G card into or a 3G mobile solution that fits the funny express card slot (that is available in the UK for me to use). How are all of you making out who used a vodafone 3G card with a G4 15" powerbook like I did now you own a macbook pro?
Happy to buy an adapter or even look into a new 3G internet provider but it must be available in the UK and work with my macbook pro?
    All ideas appreciated.

  • PCMCIA card reader for Macbook pro

I'm looking for a card reader that is compatible with macbook pro. I receive data cards from clients that are PCMCIA format and looking for a device that can transfer information to the computer most likely through USB. It sounds pretty simple, but most media card readers out there support every possible card except PCMCIA.
So in answering my own question, I have found one device that is "known to work with Mac OS, but unsupported"
    http://www.synchrotech.com/products/card-rw29_easyreaderusb2_ata_flash_pcmcia_pccards.html
In the application I'm using, it's not possible to transfer the information to another format and then import. Just curious if anyone else has come across this and has any advice.
    Thanks
    Andrew

Holy mackerel — a card reader that costs $285 and doesn't even include a USB cable! What will they think of next?
I think your problem would be a good reason to keep an old Powerbook in service. If you don't already have one, you could buy it for less than the reader, use it to read the incoming cards, and share the contents with your MBP over your network.
But this really makes me wonder what your clients are doing, that they bring you data on PCMCIA cards instead of some more convenient format.

  • Portege R500 - Bluetooth PC card mouse not recognised

I'm trying to use a bluetooth PC card mouse with my R500 but it isn't recognised When I insert it in the PCMCIA slot.
The charge light doesn't come on. Do I need to change any settings ?

    Hi
Usually the PCMCIA card should be recognized directly after it has been inserted into the slot.
There are no special drivers for PCMCIA. Its a BIOS based function.
What you could do is to change the Device Config option in the BIOS.
I think its on the second page in BIOS.
Its set to Setup by OS. I recommend changing this.

  • Satellite 2410-413: USB2 PCMCIA card doesn't work

Good morning. It is my first time on a forum, and my English is poor.
I have tried to install a PCMCIA card with 4 USB-2 ports (hw & sw) on my Satellite 2410-413 in order to use a DTV dongle (hw & sw).
It will not work: The ports seem to be declared all right in the computer but in effect, a simple 64 MB USB-2 memory key [a Sony "micro-vault" key), will not work, and neither will the Winfast DTV dongle.
Paradoxically, both the mem key will work on any of the three USB-1 ports, and the DV dongle will light up on any USB-1 port. The PCMCIA card with 4 USB-2 ports is new. I cannot locate the origin of the problem.
Would any one help me with this question?
Thank you in aadvance for your reply. Here is (maybe ?)
Another way of formulating the question: how are USB ports managed by the system?

    Many thanks to you Mike30.
I have a couple of ideas now:
    - supplying the USB2 card with additional power (ie other power than computer), (but how?)
    - uninstalling and further, re-installing the USB2 "Truewin" PCMCIA card bus, and after that trying the "leadtek-brand" DTV sw.

  • Support for AVM ISDN PCMCIA Card in Solaris 10 ?

    Hi all,
I would like to install Solaris 10 on my Toshiba Tecra S1 notebook. Today I use an ISDN-Card (AVM FritzCard, PCMCIA) for dial-up connections under Windows XP. Are there any drivers for ISDN and/or PCMCIA-Cards in Solaris10? Does anyone have any experiences with this issue?
    Every hint would be appreciated.
    Thanks a lot.
    Kindly Regard,
    Holger

    Hello.
There only very poor support for ISDN cards in Solaris. As far as I know only the on-board ISDN card of one of the SparcStation computers is supported (this card is available as S-Bus card for other SparcStation computers).
I think there is no support for any ISDN card that can be attached to an x86 computer.
I wrote a driver for USB based ISDN modems that are based on the Winbond 6694 chip myself due to this lack of ISDN support. I tested it under Solaris 9/Sparc.
