Are any "planned" enterprises/economies running SAP?

If so, I'd be curious to know (not sure if social security/health care systems count in this category.)
When the US defense sector first started considering SAP ten years ago, one question on everybody's mind was whether an ERP system could work if it was originally designed for a context where bottom-line considerations are the prime directives, and then put into a context where "readiness" (in the military sense) is the prime directive.
That's what got me thinking about "SAP for Communism", "SAP for Socialism", and "SAP for Fascism".
How would they differ from "SAP for Capitalism"?
(I mean no offense to anyone by the word "fascism" - I mean it solely in its pure economic sense - "state capitalism" - with no overtones from the past.)

Hi Marilyn -
On a serious note - thanks for the references - you've piqued my curiousity and will certainly check them out.
On a less serious note ...
I'm glad to see that SAP is thinking ahead.  It really isn't clear how "planned" China will wind up, and it's not an inconsiderable market.
On an even less serious note:
If SAP runs really well for the IDF, I wonder if any of the kibbutzim will think about giving it a shot ???? I wouldn't mind looking up from my keyboard and out the window at some orange groves for a while.  What did Goethe ask?
Was hat man dir, du armes Kind, getan?
Kennst du es wohl?
Dahin! dahin
Möcht ich mit dir, o mein Beschützer, ziehn.
Kennst du den Berg und seinen Wolkensteg?
Das Maultier sucht im Nebel seinen Weg;
In Höhlen wohnt der Drachen alte Brut;
Es stürzt der Fels und über ihn die Flut!
Kennst du ihn wohl?
Dahin! dahin
Geht unser Weg! O Vater, laß uns ziehn!

  • Although I have been using Google Maps App in India for a while now (without any issues) but I still want to know if there are any plans for launching Turn by Turn Navigation under the OOTB Map App for iOS?

Although I have been using Google Maps App in India for a while now (without any issues) but I still want to know if there are any plans for launching Turn by Turn Navigation under the OOTB Map App for iOS?
It has been quite a while since Apple came up with Map App of their own and should be releasing improved maps with more capabilities in India.
    Cheers!
    Abhishek

No one here can answer your question, as there is no one from Apple here, & no one here represents Apple or speaks for Apple.

  • Are there any planned LiveView Updates?

Just wondering if there are any planned software/firmware updates in the works or is this product considered good as is / end of life. As it stands as is my liveview is about 2 feet from the garbage can.

I got a LiveView very early on. Sent it back for a full refund after a couple of days as it just didn't work. But I love the idea of it as a concept, so I thought I'd check back in here today, nearly a year later, and read up on the newer version/the updated firmware/the greater support for official plugins/the free wrist-strap replacements that looked better and didn't mean you lost the device/how SE had managed to get it working and everyone was very happy etc
    But, no.
    No progress/updates at all.
    In nearly a year!
SE could have made this device as widespread as an iPod if they'd taken the time to address the initial issues (would have been better to have fixed them before releasing it, but hey).
Instead, it looks like they're happy to let this wonderful concept die a slow, miserable death. With the added pain of SE's name being further tarnished due to lack of any kind of response to the universally-agreed issues that blight it.

  • Mail for Exchange sub folders, any plans?

Does any one know if there are any plans to bring out sub folder support in mail for exchange.
I think this is almost a complete show stopper as current versions of exchange are designed to work with sub folders and the rules written for those sub folders.
So no sub folders support in MfE basically makes it a dead duck IMHO
    bob940

    same here !!
I make it a point to file all my mail correctly in sub-folders so my mailbox doesn't turn into a huge mess but then I have no access to may mail on my E71 !! That's pretty ridiculous...

  • Does ADF security support sub-roles? If not are there plans to support it?

    hi,
I have following scenario: there are dozens of regions and each region has dozen of facilities and each facility dozens of offices.
I would like to setup Office roles to have Query permission only and create a new role OfficeUpdate role that has update permissions for this office data, and at the same time to inherit permissions from Office role (e.g. Query permissions), so if I assign a user to Office role he will be able to query only and if I assign him to OfficeUpdate role he will be able to query and update the office data because privilege will be inherited from Office role.
User can be a member of different offices/facilities/regions. So I would like to, in order to simplify user management, to be able to assign a whole role as a member of another role. By doing this I wouldn't have to assign users to different roles all over again (all users assigned to a sub-role would automatically become members of main role as well) as this is time-consuming.
But it seems that ADF security does not support this. It seems that ADF security can only deal with roles and not sub-roles? Roles and sub-roles are supported by oc4j container but it seems that ADF security does not support it.
I would like first to be sure that my observation is correct, and if yes to find out if there are any plans to support sub-roles in future Jdev releases?
And also if somebody knows, if Acegi or JsfAcegi security supports role-sub-role privilege inheritance?

I created a testcase that excludes ADF Security and the same behavior can be reproduced, so the problem doesn't seem to be with ADF Security but JAZN.
Need to further track this issue, but so far it appears that a member role is not sufficient to authenticate and authorize a container managed constraint as used by ADF Security for authentication. This could be a problem with the embedded OC4J only but also a general problem with settings on the system-jazn-data.xml. This is what I need to further evaluate.
So for now I can't say that this isn't working in ADF Security because its not even getting there

  • Run SAP

    Hello All,
Any one has used Run SAP implemetation methodology for SAP SCM-APO Implemention? If yes what is your experience. Do you suggest to it for SCM 7.0?
    Regards,
    Anjali

    Hi Anjali,
You mean ASAP methodology for implementing SCM 7.0
It should work fine, if you start from Project prep.. Business Blue Print, Realization, Final Preparation, Go Live & Support
This is more or less a Business question, which methodology they want to adopt and depends upon implementation partner also.
    Thanks,

  • Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center 12c does not support RHEL 5.9 but did oracle have any plan to release patchs to support RHEL 5.9?

    To Forum Users,
    Below is my issue description:
OPS Center 12C is successfully installed & configured on RHEL 5.9 but post installation while trying to configure controller (enterprise & proxy) using http url it redirect to secure port https but doent promts login screen page. Later i found RHEL 5.9 O.S doen't support Ops center 12c.
Did oracle have any bug / patches for this issue ? or any planned release for / against this vulnerabilities ?

       Hello AkankshaSheoranKaler
We have done the following, but we aren't able to resolve this issue. Thank you for your help!
    lf
“This  happen if the software library is not accessible, readable or unmounted (if it is in shared file system).”
On Enterprise Manager server [nsn175-105], we did the following:
    1. we modified /etc/exports to include this line: /export *(rw,no_root_squash,sync)
we start nfs service by executing command “service nfs start”.
On Management Agent server (nsn175-89), we verified that we are able to mount /export directory of EM server.
On Management Agent server, we started firefox browser and were able to run successfully https://nsn175-105.us.oracle.com:4904/empbs/genwallet
After making this change, we ran agent deployment again. We encountered the same error as shown above.
“You can fix the software library or you can download the agent bits in offline mode.”
For fixing the software library, select Setup->Provision and Patching->Offline Patching, then select Offline Patching radio button, download: https://updates.oracle.com/download/em_catalog.zip. Next upload this zip file.
    “Try downloading the bits again”
We are not sure what agent bits are. Would you please explain this and provide procedure how we can download this?
(Here I have attempted to fix the software library, but I am new to Enterprise Manager and not sure how to interpret this).

  • SAP NetWeaver 7.02 ABAP Trial Version - Any plan?

As [SAP Enhancement Package 2 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0|SAP Enhancement Package 2 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0] is available, I wonder if there will be a 7.02 version of NSP? Is there any plan?
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
you may already be informed that the version you was looking for is now available at
    [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/nw-downloads|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/nw-downloads]
    It's a "NW7.02 SP6" - "XP/Vista 32-bit" version.  - no 64bit
(If you're using Win7 the XP-mode probably allows to run the system as well)
    Have fun

  • Is there any third party component required to run SAP Mobile ?

    Hi Gurus,
What 3rd party mobile components are required to run SAP mobile (E.g DB2e)? Do any of them require separate licensing thatu2019s not covered by the SAP licence?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Dharani

    Hi Larissa Limaravo,
Thank you so much for you detailed answer.
Can you please let me know your view on this please.
Q4 What do we get in terms of remote management (i.e. any of the security points above plus deployment of software and remote support)? Is there any benefit in moving to 7.1 from 7?
Thinking of the supplied XAPPS that are available with SAP mobile, how configurable are they in terms of:
    Q5
u2022     Adding new fields (both for info in the field and for engineers to return additional data).
    u2022     Changes to validation.
u2022     Changes to workflow within the application.
    u2022     Anything else!
Q5.1  Is there an IDE or tool available for implementing configuration changes?
Q5.2  What weu2019re after here is a feel for the overall influence on functionality, expressed as a percentage (e.g. 0 no influence to 100% complete control), which can be achieved with configuration?
Q5.3  Typically, who is responsible for making configuration changes, would it be possible to do this in-house or would we require experienced consultants? If this is a split between the 2 could we get a feel based on the most commonly requested changes?
Q5.4  With regard to customizing supplied XAPPs or writing our own, would we be talking Java development through webdyn pro? How would customisation impact patching and upgrades of the SAP infrastructure?
Q6  Our assumption is that SAP mobile solutions are only suitable for SAP backend systems owing to the tight integration. In your experience, has anyone successfully implemented a SAP mobile solution on a non SAP backend system? Would you, as experienced SAP consultants, recommend such a venture?
Q6.1  How would we go about integration of other systems on the mobile device? For example GPS, Barcode, Cameras or other applications like boiler diagnostics. Again, can you break this down into tasks that can be performed in house vs. tasks that are typically performed by experienced consultants?
Q6.2  This is a bit of a vague question so I must apologies in advance: Company will ultimately control our production environment but weu2019d be interested in having some control to be able to deploy configuration changes without having to bother them. If you could suggest if and how this arrangement would be implemented, then I can approach company to assess the feasibility.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Dharani

  • I can no longer import raw files from my Panasonic Lumix LX5 into Aperture 3.3.2 - raw files from my other Canon cameras are fine. Am still running Lion - NOT Mountain Lion. Tried all available software updates - no joy. Any ideas please?

I can no longer import raw files from my Panasonic Lumix LX5 into Aperture 3.3.2 - raw files from my other Canon cameras are fine. Am still running Lion (10.7.4) - NOT Mountain Lion. Tried all available software updates - all up to date apparently but still no joy. OS X Lion shows the LX5 as a supported file format. I dont want to have to upgrade to Mountain Lion just to see if this solves the problem. Any ideas please.

Since when did this happen? Directly after you upgraded to Aperture 3.3.2?
If it happened directly after the upgrade the problem may be, that the raw support for your camera got lost. For some posters it helped to register the raw support again, see this post by Alan Roseman:
Aperture 3 preview of raw file greenish
If this does not help, you may need to reinstall Lion to bring back the raw support.
But if the problem occured independent of a new installation, ypu may have a problem with your camera or the card you are using. Have you tried to use a different card or to reformat the card in the camera?

  • Are there any plans to fix the misinterpretation of the Exchange ActiveSync policy "Minimum number of character sets"  in IOS6?

We are testing using IOS6 in our Corporate environment and came across a scenario where IOS6 incorrectly interprets the Exchange 2010 ActiveSync policy "Minimum number of character sets" as the number of special characters required rather than the number of character sets required. Is anyone aware of any plans to correct this in future releases? Here is a thread on Microsoft's forums about the issue:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrmobility/thread/fe05 1d55-24ba-45e4-b054-67861f28422d/

We have tried Android, Windows Phone7/8 and they all adhere to the "Minimum number of character sets" set in the ActiveSync policy, but IOS does not.
Require an alphanumeric password   Select this check box to require device passwords to contain both numbers and letters. The default is numbers only.
Passwords must include this many character sets   To enhance the security of device passwords, you can require passwords to contain characters from multiple character sets. Select a number from 1 to 4. The sets are letters, uppercase letters, numbers, and symbols. For example, if you select 3, passwords must contain characters from three of these sets.
All other mobile device except IOS 5.x/6.X don't follow this.
You have to select "Require an alphanumeric password" which is letters and numbers.  But then you can only select 1-4 for the character sets.
So we set it at 1, so that would mean you would only need letters and numbers, IOS does not reconize letters, letters uppercase, numbers or symobols as a charator set, it interprets the setting as how symbols you need.
If you set it at 2, then IOS makes you have "2" symbols in your password.....and so on...
    Make sense?
It just seems that IOS does not reconize charator sets, it just looks at the number as how many symbols you need in a password.

Thanks for the responses. I did submit this issue as a bug report earlier this morning also but thought I'd post here in the event any Apple insiders saw this and cared to comment.
This really is a significant problem in that our testing shows that the way IOS5 interprets this ActiveSync policy in Exchange 2010 does not allow you to enforce a password using just letters and numbers. This is because  the only valid values for this policy are 1-4. The way IOS5 interprets this requires 1-4 special characters in the password, not 1-4 character sets.

  • Are there any plans to add rowing machine data to health app

The health app is definitely good if your a runner or cyclist, however it doesn't seem to cover logging gym workout data. Does Apple have any plans to add metrics to the health app for these. In particular I use a rowing machine and it would be great if the accelerometer in the iPhone could track SPM and distance. ( ok distance is pushing it) or even just the ability to log the data in the app. This could then count to your daily step count.

THis is a user helping user forum we are not apple you should use feedback

  • Do you know if theres any plans to incorporate "Actions" into Lightroom as there currently are in Photoshop ?

Just a quick question on Photoshop Actions.
Does anyone know if theres any plans to incorporate Actions into Lightroom ? It would be great if there were Actions or Macros to speed up repetitive tasks.

I think the most important question here is Rob's: "What would be your first macros/actions if such feature was supported?"
Because Lightroom already automates corrections, but in a different (and sometimes better) way than Photoshop. For example, in Photoshop you might use an action to record a string of adjustments to contrast, local contrast, curves, cropping, and lens correction. That could be a pretty long action. But in Lightroom, all you have to do is make a single preset and when you do, all of those steps are applied in one instant instead of having to wait for many Photoshop action steps to complete. Same with exporting: In Photoshop, making an output-specific version can mean recording a lot of steps for resizing, color conversion, sharpening, etc. But since Lightroom lets you save all those as an Export Preset, once again it only takes an instant to apply it. So a lot of times, automating is actually easier and faster in Lightroom.
What kind of automation are you after? Is it something that Lightroom presets haven't been able to cover?
