Are any versions of Firefox susceptable to Heartbleed bug CVE-2014-0160 ?

Do any versions of Firefox use OpenSSL?
if so, which versions of Firefox would be vulnerable to the Heartbleed bug CVE-2014-0160 that has recently been identified.
As covered in:

  • I had firefox4.0 installed in my PC. There was a glitch in the browser so I uninstalled it and now when I am trying to re-install any version of firefox, I am unable to.

This is the message that I see when I try installing any version of Firefox:
Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous uninstall of Firefox. Do you want to reboot now?

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • HP Smart web printing is very useful web printing extension which is not compatible with any version of firefox till now but compatible with Internet Explorer any version. So Please do correction. Thanks

[There is a link below from where software can be downloaded and after installing this you will see that it is not compatible with any version of Mozilla Firefox of any Window version (7, XP).]

It is up to HP to make that program compatible with Firefox.
That application last worked in Firefox 3.5, but HP was always very lax in updating it for a new version of Firefox. Usually they didn't bother to update it until like halfway through the "run" of a particular Firefox version. It worked for like 6 months and then a new version of Firefox was released, and it didn't work for like 6 months until HP got around to fixing it - then the cycle repeated.

  • Cannot download ANY version of firefox june 25/11

Had to delete firefox from system due to possible virus, But when I tried to download forefox again, I was unabel to download ANY version. Tried verious sites for 2 days same response.

Download the new version you want with other browsers like IE (Windows), Safari (Mac) and remove the last version. Then install the package you downloaded.

  • My HP printers' software is disabled by/not compatible with any versions of Firefox I have ever installed and this is extreme;y inconvenient.

I have Windows Vista as my operating system, I install every Firefox update. An earlier version of Firefox allowed me to use my 1st HP printer but haven't been able to use that printer or a newer one for 2 years. I used to reinstall the software each time but now that doesn't work either.
I want to use my two very good HP printers/software with my laptop.
I have an HP computer and 2 HP printers and want to have them work together.

Is your wretched printer the same model? How about the Mac - and your OS.
I have tried to persuade HP that this should be investigated here:

Please do contribute to that discussion too, since I assume that HP will be the organisation to investigate/correct any driver problems.

  • HP Simplepass not working with any version of Firefox

Long story short, after I upgraded to Firefox 6 and discovered my HP Simplepass doesn't work, I reverted back to Firefox 3.6 but can't get any version of HP Simplepass to work. I originally had the Digital Persona version, which I upgraded to the EgisTec version. I currently have version EgisTec 7.0.74.0 installed (supposed to work with FF 4.0 and no luck). I have tried older versions of HP Simplepass with no luck as well. I also tried to go back to my original Digital Persona version, but can't get it to reinstall (1722...error as discussed in other posts here). I can't seem to overcome that either. Any suggestions? I am pulling my hair out.

  • URGENT - ARE LATEST VERSIONS OF FIREFOX DOWNLOADS INFECTED WITH MALWARE/ADWARE?

It is VERY URGENT that the following is looked into by Mozilla Firefox and anyone else who uses this browser, as it would appear that the latest installation downloads from Mozilla Firefox (GB-EN) for versions 28.0 and 29 (and quite possibly previous versions) ARE THEMSELVES INFECTED with malware/adware. This is the only conclusion I can come to after repeated resets of my computers to factory settings, and everything is fine until I re-download Mozilla Firefox and select it as default browser, then the following happens when my Office 365 account is accessed:
In Office 365, if I select the 'File' menu and 'Office Account', then click on the 'Manage Account' button, TWO tabs on the default browser (if it is Firefox) are opened and the SECOND tab is a malware/adware page, usually called something like www.74f.com or another URL or server with a number, and sometimes this has an email address on the adware page that opens. This only happens when Mozilla Firefox is the default browser - it does not happen in Internet Explorer. In IE, the second tab is the correct tab for the Account in Office 365.
This has caused me to do repeated resets to factory default settings on my two laptops, one running Windows 8.1 64 bit and one running Windows 7 64 bit, and everything is fine when re-installation of all programs is complete and IE is the default browser. As soon as Mozilla Firefox is downloaded - the latest versions 28 or 29, and Firefox is set as the default browser, the malware/adware tab reopens in Office 365, as above.
On doing a search on what www.74f.com is, it appears to be registered on servers in China.
The malware/adware seems to be directly connected with the download and installation of the latest versions of Firefox. PLEASE INVESTIGATE URGENTLY - as although Firefox has always been my favourite browser, there is no way I am ever going to use it again unless this is solved, as I am fed up with doing factory resets of my computers to solve this. Each time I re-install Firefox it happens again, to a previously clean system.

    First - Relax
So to clarify what the issue is. What apparently no one of our IT experts could figure out in a YEAR!
If you trace everything with Procmon you will see that this is a simple issue of not putting Quotation marks around Command line arguments.
That is what Office is executing as you click that "Manage Account" button.
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" http://o15.officeredir.microsoft.com/r/rlidOfficeManagementPortal?ver=15&app=outlook.exe&clid=111&p1=1&lidhelp=1111&liduser=1111&lidui=1111&MachineKey=11111-111-111111 66F
So there is a MachineKey generated with a space in it.
What happens if you execute this in cmd… Correct – Firefox will assume that 66F is a 2nd argument in this case a URL and translate it to www.66f.com after not finding a DNS record for 66F in the local environment.
Of course ChinaHackers will figure this out too and maybe use this… but then I couldn’t find anything strange with the 66f website.
As in this case: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" FirstTab 2ndTab
This is not a Firefox issue MS should just bloody put his Urls in Quotation marks!
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" “http://o15.officeredir.microsoft.com/r/rlidOfficeManagementPortal?ver=15&app=outlook.exe&clid=111&p1=1&lidhelp=1111&liduser=1111&lidui=1111&MachineKey=11111-111-111111 66F”
Now feel free to write Microsoft and tell them thanks for wasting 15min of my day.

  • I can't connect to any version of Firefox, although I could up until 2 days ago. windows xp, desktop

I was using the regular version of Firefox and it was working until two days ago. I uninstalled and reinstalled, tried the beta version, not working either, my internet provider tech guy can't figure it out either but he is not familiar with Firefox. HELP! i had internet explorer

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

  • I uninsalled Firefox 4?, Now I cannot reinstall any version of Firefox. Download says I must reboot which I do and will not load new version

    thats the story

That was probably caused by your Firewall blocking the newly installed version of Firefox.

  • I have requested and accepted the most current Firefox program updates with my windows vista system. They are not registering but I am told they are downloaded. Then I cannot get the printer option to work with any version of firefox. in English

I have taken the firefox updates when offered to 4.4. I have the browser as an aside to Internet Explorer 9 as a backup browser. When I use Firefox I am being told my system is not up to date and I need a newer version. I download the version and keep getting told I am not current with firefox. When Firefox DOES work I cannot get any printer icon or settings to enable and allow the printing of a page. I have to use IE9 to get the printer to work. Using eBay I cannot get the uploading of pictures from my computer to consistently operate even though I use small JPG files under 500KB.

There are a lot of IntelliTXT like ''ad'' pop-ups possible.
If your current Adblock Plus filter settings aren't blocking some pop-ups then it is best to take this to the Adblock Plus forum.

  • Facebook/Twitter DO NOT LOAD TEXT/IMAGES correctly in Windows 8 in ANY version of Firefox

The title sums it up nicely. I bought a new laptop 2 days ago and Facebook and Twitter do not load correctly in Firefox (ANY AND ALL VERSIONS - I have been installing/uninstalling/reinstalling nonstop like a maniac). They load in every other browser just fine.
Basically what happened is I installed Firefox on the new laptop (first thing I did), loaded Facebook and Twitter for the first time, and once I closed those pages and re-opened them, they started to appear with the text flush to the left and without some images. Almost looks like a part of the CSS code is missing.
I have tried ALL of the solutions posted on these support forums. None of them are permanent
Clearing my cookies/cache IS NOT an adequate solution. It works for the first time and then I have to do it every time I close and re-open FB/Twitter. Since the entire Windows 8 O/S concept is based on the "social experience," this seems somewhat ironic. Either it's a problem with my new laptop but I doubt it, as I said before, every other browser and webpage work fine.
My conclusion is there's a problem between Firefox/Windows 8/Facebook and Twitter. If someone could just confirm or shed some insight to development problems or suggest permanent fixes, that would be greatly appreciated and save me a lot of headache. As it stands, I'm about to throw this laptop out the window. >_> I'm very much not impressed with the hassle this transition has been.
Google Chrome has always been a close second to Firefox in my eyes and it looks like I'll have to switch over, despite the fact the former does not have a customizable bookmark toolbar.
    Thanks in advance.
I have NORTON INTERNET SECURITY if anyone can suggest any settings change.

    Hey Firefaux,
I changed a setting in Firefox and it seemed to have solved my problems. Since CTRL+F5 seemed to work as a quick fix, that told me it was something to do with the cache.
My browsers on my old laptop had never had their cached cleared (I have a problem deleting things :P).
Go to Tools --> Options --> Network and under Cached Web Content, your cache may be set to 350mb just like mine was in my new Firefox. I had a moment of clarity and thought, "maybe since my computer is so new, I haven't browsed enough to fill my cache with information from various different sites, as opposed to just Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube."
So I ticked the box "override automatic cache management" and set it to 0mb.
Ever since then, I've had no problems with browsing (in Firefox, haven't attempted anything else since the problem was fixed immediately).
I know nothing about caches and whatnot, but with the limit set to 0, I believe this is forcing the browser to reload a new page from scratch EVERY time since I have not allowed *anything* to be saved to memory.
Hope this helps, please let us know if it works for you as well. I know I was experiencing massive buyer's remorse for days because of this problem.

  • The new upgrade to Firefox 4.0 has rendered the browser useless. Error message is XUL Runner Platform Version 2.0.1 not compatible with minVersion =2.0 maxVersion =2.0. How do I get any version of Firefox to load again?

XUL Runner Platform Version 2.0.1 not compatible with minVersion>=2.0 maxVersion<=2.0

    Do a clean (re-)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • I have a Windows Vista desktop and an old XP laptop, both run Firefox perfectly. However, my Toshiba Satellite T135 laptop will not run ANY version of Firefox--constant "not responding" messages. Chrome and IE9 work perfectly. Help!!

To mostly repeat my question, I am a longtime Firefox user on both an XP laptop and a Vista desktop. So here I get the most "capable" computer of all, a Toshiba Satellite T135 laptop, 64-bit Windows 7, 4G RAM...and it won't run Firefox at all! I have installed an uninstalled both Firefox 3, and just now, Firefox 4. No changes. When I open the software, it usually just locks up for a minute or so, and I finally get a "not responding" message at the top of the screen.
Obviously there is something corrupt in the guts of my laptop. But both IE9 and Chrome work very well--Chrome is blazing fast. I still prefer Firefox because it works best with some particular software I use for work...but I have to go to one of my older computers to do it!
ANY solutions out there? This seems like a very odd problem.
Posting from the Firefox website...using Google Chrome!

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.
