Are anyone else's ID3 tags all jacked up after upgrading to iTunes 11?

I have a large library that I'm downright OCD in managing tag information. All are set at v2.4 and genres, album artist, groups, both track and cd #'s as well as album art have been MANUALLY scrubbed religiously upon import to ensure a manageable library. I've noticed in the past that iTunes does a fairly horrible job in actually changing the ID3 tag info of the AAC or MP3 file itself resulting in horrible tag info when using the files in another system (Chrysler's MyGig system, Microsoft's Sync system, etc.) but iTunes always listed the songs correctly, making my smart playlists, sort and playback very easy and clean. That is until I upgraded to iTunes 11. Apparently they've re-read all the file ID3 tag info as I now have MANY different genres listed and album artist info has disappeared as well as track listing info. Do I need to get an external tag editor and redo all the tag editing I had done previously to now clean this up or have they fixed iTunes to do a better job of actually editing the file info itself?

Get Info on the song within iTunes is how I know the comment field is empty.
I don't have Match or iCloud enabled.
All other tag info is there and left untouched, only the comment field is blank. Tried removing and re-adding the tracks multiple times, but that didn't help.
Reason this annoys me is that I add information to my comment field such as additional genre/style information, band origin or location, related artists, etc. Very helpful stuff for smart playlists.
I can try Stephen Spark's suggestion to convert my ID3 tag version, but I've never, ever had to do that before, so, if iTunes 11 is suddenly only reliably reads one correctly it seems to be a bug with iTunes.

Muted/Muffled audio on all Media Players after upgrade to iTunes 7.0.1.8

In the past few days I have upgraded my version of iTunes to 7.0.1.8. I am now noticing new audio playback issues I have not seen up until my upgrade.
When playing back a large majority of my library, the audio on an MP3 becomes muted/muffled at various points in the song. I thought my speakers were damaged, so I tried the same MP3 files in both Windows Media Player and Creative Media Player. I found that the other two media players had muting/muffling at the exact same points in the songs.
The interesting this is that this issue never occureed until I upgraded to the latest iTunes. In addition, the exact same MP3 files sound perfect when played on my Nano.
Did iTunes corrupt a DLL file on my PC? Since this problem started I have updated the drivers on my Creative Labs Audigy 2 Platinum Pro, have not seen any improvement.

Thank you for describing the problems so well. I also have been going nuts trying to restore my Itunes Library to its original (or acceptable) condition. I have a 5th gen 30G Video with about 4250 songs on it. After downloading 7 I found that every song in my Library had been dulplicated or triplicated. Then, a day latr, when I had downloaded album art, I discovered that every other song in any album I had downloaded (from Itunes or my own cd)prior to perhaps version 5 or version 6 could not be found. Luckily, I had an generation 4 Ipod with the original Library and I was able to download that to my external harddrive. I have spending pointless, arduous hours pointing Itunes to the correct file. Its faster to re-download the CD. Of course, I can't do that for any music I had bought from Itunes directly. Its weird because the name of the song is in Itunes, just the file can't be found. And why every other file? When I go into earlier (6 and before)Itunes Libraries, the music files are missing from them. Where did they go? When I try to sync my Ipod with Itunes, it takes forever because Itunes is searching for the missing files. I have tried to ask Apple support directly but I have gotten no response. Sounds like their was some corruption that occured during the update. Have you tried connecting it to iTunes in recovery mode and restoring it from backup (or to factory settings if from a backup fails)? Use the instructions in this article to walk you through placing your device in recovery mode.

My question is, if im shipped a defective product, how to i get a refund, or at least a new itouch, do i have to pay to ship it back, and then wait for a new one?

The serial # is printed on the back. If you receive a week 37 iPod Touch from Apple I would leave it sealed in the box and return it to the nearest Apple store for a refund. My understanding is that if it's sealed you will not get charged a restocking fee.
Then proceed to purchase a week 38 unit when you can find one.

And while we are at it iOS8 has installed iBooks on both of my phones and iTunes won't let me uninstall it. I don't need or want iBooks on my phones.

There are two easy fixes to this.
One, you can set up Family Sharing, in which you can have two different iCloud Accounts, yet still share the same apps, music, media etc.
Two, go to Settings and turn-off "Handoff". This can be found under the General page.

Anyone having issues with USB port power after upgrading to iTunes 11.1?

After upgrading to itunes 11.1, I can no longer use the USB ports on my wired keyboard to synch my iPhone 4s, ipod Nano, and Ipad 2. Previously, I could use this port to synch and charge the nano and iphone, and synch (but not charge) my iPad. Now I simply get an error when I attach any of the devices ("a usb device needs more power").
I currently use all four of the USB ports on the back of my imac (UPS power supply, aformentioned keyboard, a Lacie backup drive that has its own power supply, and a superdrive). Interestingly, when I unplug the Superdrive (which is plugged directly into the mac on a separate USB port), the USB port on the keyboard will work. Unplugging any of the other 2 devices does not allow the port on the to work.
I bought the wired keyboard to have the easily accessible UBS port to synch my nano as well as the fact I needed a number pad.

Get yourself a good self-powered 7 port USB hub to plug your extra devices into.

Music library after data recovery - ID3 tags all over the place

Hi,
For a short time there i was using my external drive as my music library, while i sorted enough space ot run it from C:
However, that didn't last long and i was asked if i wanted to reformat the drive.
Using Easeus I was able to recover the mp3s. But they're all over the place i.e songs labelled as one thing will be something else, about 70% of the time. Also some songs randomly chnage to others.
Is there any method i can use to resolve any of this, without re-doing my entire collection?

The best option is to recover from backup, but I guess you don't have one. You can also recover from an iPod if you have one:

Failing that, are you certain that the tags are wrong in the actual files, the tags are part of the file, so I am surprised if they were changed if you were able to recover the files successfully. It is hard to see how they could be messed up if the file is OK unless something else messed with them.
I am afraid you have a lot of work ahead of you. You might be able to use a tag editor to get tags from the internet - MP3 tag is an example, but I think the tracks need to be arranged into CDs for this to work.
There is also something called PicardTagger which is supposed to use the audio footprint of the file to identify it, but I have no experience with it myself.

Anyone else's iPhone 4s speaker not working after update to iOS 6.1?

My speaker does not work after updating the software to iOS 6.1. No sound for incoming calls or texts, no speakerphone, no siri, no music or any sounds played from apps. Headphones still work as does anything plugged into the headphone jack. I've check all my settings - everything is correct. I've rebooted and restored settings several times, I've docked it - nothing works.
Anyone else having this problem? Did anyone have this problem and were able to fix it? Does anyone know if Apple is aware and will be sending another update to fix it? I really don't think it's a hardware problem. Phone is in immaculate condition and never dropped or spilled on.

Anyone else having to re-do Mail Rules after MobileMe updates?

Hi, everyone. After making the MobileMe updates, my mail wasn't being filtered to the right folders. I saw that I had to reset the rules and was wondering if anyone else experienced the same issues? There was a 2nd update that happened yesterday, and I had to go through the same process of re-directing my Mail Rules again this morning. I was able to fix things manually, but does anyone know of a way where we don't have to keep resetting our Mail Rules after future MobileMe updates? Thanks!

I was using LTE on off but I have switched to Network both do the same thing and take you to the Phone Info menu that where you to change your preferred network type. I just like that Network has a cleaner looking icon and doesn't pop up instructions.
The CDMA auto setting is 1X so if that's what you have it set to you are only going to get 1X. The setting I use when I don't want to worry about losing connection is CDMA auto (PRL) and that will keep it on 3G unless 3G is unavailable. Sometime when I'm set to CDMA +LTE/EvDo auto I have problems with my phone hanging up on a poor or none existent 4G signal and wont switch to 3G that's when I will switch to CDMA auto (PRL) to get off the failing 4G signal. It usually takes a 10 seconds for the 3G to pop up. This is my experience with the Thunderbolt I know a lot of people are having different experiences and have their different trick but I find this works most of the time. Good luck

I was upgrading to the ios 7, and suddenly my phone erased itself and everything in it.
Even my back ups on iTunes were gone.
It gave me one option: to restore to factory settings. Then it was saying "preparing to restore for 25 minutes. I had to close everything and restart my Mac. It then restored my phone to nada. It said my last back up was June 1st. It was 2 weeks ago. I lost all texts, all info and nearly 2 hours of productivity. I run 2 businesses with this phone. This is nuts. I am so frustrated!

this happened to me too, very quickly after i got my iPhone 5. You are still in warranty, so i would suggest you do what i did. I just went back to where i got the phone (AT&T for me) with my cord, told them that my cord stopped working and they just gave me a new one with out any issue! i use my phone for everything too, so i know how important this is! hope this helps!
