Are apple wires universal around the world? Or do you require a converter?

I am traveling to Europe. Someone had told me that Apple products are universal around the world. Basically, insinuating that you do not require a converter. Is this accurate? My biggest fear is that I short the fuse in my apple products.

Here is an example of what rumple doll is referring to. This is a 85wH Power Adapter for a Macbook Pro.

  • Difference between Apple products purchased around the world

I travel/based all over the world and I have noticed the difference in prices when taking into account the exchange rate.
    Apple TV $99, £99, €102
If I purchased the Apple TV in one country (for example US or Europe) will it work on an English, UK TV, when I eventually return home?
Another question is whether products bought in one country can be used with other mac products purchased from another country.  Are they all compatible.
    Many Thanks

The only difference between an Apple TV bought in one location and in another is the plug at the end of the power cord. Any Apple TV you purchase in any location will work in another.
On the other matter, all hardware from any location is compatible with hardware from another. One thing you should remember however is that not all hardware has a universal aspect to it like the Apple TV, you should ensure that anything you purchase in one location will work on the voltage provided in another.
The main difference between Apple products from different locations is related to services, for example in the case of the Apple TV whilst the hardware is exactly the same, there are services for example which you might find in the US that aren't available elsewhere, such as re-downloadable movies.

  • Can you use Apple TV all around the world

if I buy an Apple TV in Canada can I use it in Europe or Australia as well?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If I understand correctly you want to use both the Apple TV's with one TV.
There wouldn't be a problem with that, they will each need there own network connection and should be connected to different AV inputs on the TV so that you can switch between each Apple TV as a source with your TV remote.
If you don't have two HDMI ports on the TV, the Apple TV 1 will connect by component cables, if this isn't possible you would need to get yourself an HDMI switch.

  • MacBook Pro Prices around the world

I have done some research and the following are prices from Apple Stores around the world on the web for the 2.0GHz standard model, no add-ons.
Prices have been converted to United States Dollars for comparison:
    Apple USA: $2499
    Apple UK: $3167
    Apple Singapore: $2861
    Apple Israel: $3445
    Apple Australia: $2928
    Apple Germany: $3168
    Apple Finland: $3350
So for a UK purchaser, they could fly to New York for a weekend for $300, buy a MBPro and have a good time and STILL save money !!!!

Strangely - I actually had a chat with a customs officer at Heathrow once about this very issue.
The law states that you have to declare - but in reality no one ever does ! How many people arrive at London Heathrow with laptops ??? More than I can count !! And I go through Heathrow at least once a month.
To be a completely correct law abiding citizen,. every purchase over 136 pounds has to be declared at UK customs.
If its for personal use, USUALLY they are not interested; if its for RE-SALE then its a different issue.
If you are shipping goods via a web/telephone purchase then the US store will put a pro-forma invoice and a Certificate of Origin with the goods. This will be in US Dollars, so any taxes will be calculated based on the US Dollar price.
If you ship from a US store (CompUSA) for example, the carrier (UPS, FedEx or DHL etc) will clear the goods through customs for you, and you will pay the duty (15%) of the actual declared value on the shipment form. NOT the value of the item in the UK.
Its usually all seamless and troublefree - and it pays to look around INTERNATIONALLY before buying anything these days.
NOTE: Most US based stores will NOT accept foreign credit cards via the web or phone apart from Amex, but its so simple to wire money these days bank to bank that really its not an issue.
    As always though, caveat emptor....

  • Buying in different itunes shops (around the world)

hi there...hope anyone can help me.i live in switzerland, and my account is set for the swiss itunes store..which is just ok, compared to some others around the world. a lot i can't get there, like my u.s. tv shows i love to watch.every time i try to access another countries store, i get denied access. any ideas why? thanks for your help, if anyone reads this.marco

This question is asked frequently so I'll just quote the most complete answer (courtesy of Dave Sawyer) from the many given:
In order to buy from any given country's iTunes Music Store, you must have either:
    a) a credit card with a billing address in that country, or
    b) a mailing address in that country and a gift certificate or a prepaid card that was bought in that country.
If you cannot fulfill one of these two sets of conditions, you will not be able to purchase from any given country's iTMS.
.......this is due to restrictions placed on Apple by the record companies and other rights holders (who are often completely different from country to country and so all require their own individual negotiations and contracts), not by Apple's choice. And this also applies to all the legal download stores that carry major-label content, not just the iTMS.

  • Designer users around the world

    Hello Guys,
I'd like to know how many users uses Oracle Designer around the world?
Somebody can give me approximate number.
    Best regards,
    Anderson

The early versions of Data Modeler were lacking. The latest release (3.0 in Jan 2011), with the exception of generators, does provide very similar functionality to Designer across the board. I have been using CASE tools since SQL Design Dictionary (SDD) and the latest version of Oracle Designer is the best in the relational - forms and reports world. It was lacking in true PL/SQL support for database packages, procedures and functions as well as support for object types.
The newest DM 3.0, released a couple of weeks ago, does a number of things easier than Designer did. In the area of DFD and building and assigning data flows much easier than using the matrix diagrammer. There is also a scripting engine area that allows us to add multiple columns or attributes to tables or entities from a template. In Designer we had to use Pl/SQL and the API which could be intimidating. Now to add those housekeeping columns or modifying application prefixes is much easier.
It looks like Oracle took the team that was building and maintaining Designer and pt them on the Data Modeler team. If this is the case, no pun intended, then all those years of experience on how build a CASE tool come with them as well as where to improve it.
Things like domains maintenance is much easier now as well being able to capture PL/SQL in the database. Object Type support is hugely better in DM 3.0 than Designer ever had and it looks like Oracle is going to keep the tool up to date with what the database provides for object types. The glossary editor is new and opens a new door for the maintenance and standardization of names, abbreviations at the entity, attribute, table, column, (PK, UK and FK) key levels, etc... The scripting engine along with the design rules and the glossary does make life much easier for us that we had in Designer
Now that DM 3.0 is out, you should take a look. They have some pretty good stuff.

  • Youtube not working on Firefox - Lots of people around the world reporting same thing! February 18th 2015.

Just checked Youtube and it's not working, all i'm getting is a black screen with a spinning circle.
Have checked downdetector.com and Isitdownrightnow.com and lots of other people around the world reporting the exact same problem even though Youtube is playing fine for them on other browsers like Chrome.
I'm fully up to date both on my Firefox and Flash and Youtube was working fine for me yesterday.
Is this some Firefox problem? as thousands of people around the world are having same problem.
    Thanks in advance.

For other users finding this topic in the future:
    1) Enter the config by typing about:config in the adress bar.
    2) Enter media.mediasource.webm.enabled and press enter.
    3) Right click on it and change to true, for some reason it is set as "false" which makes MSE & WebM VP9 not work properly.
    4) Visit: https://www.youtube.com/html5 and check that everything is OK.
    5) Try to watch a video. It should work now.

  • Around the World Travel Map

All, I am trying to create an around the world map, example path: NYC to LAX to SYD to FCO to NYC. The travel path is west but when I select the "Return to Starting Location" option the map is drawn with an eastward line. I would like the line to continue westward, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Larry, I am up to date, I was just trying something new and it appeard to work.
    If you do this:
Desired Path to Show: NYC to LAX to SYD to FCO to NYC
    but instead use
FCO to NYC to LAX to SYD to FCO to NYC to LAX
and then zoom in and set the map, you can have the desired path without showing the two duplicate locations (1st FCO and last LAX) and have the map appear to show a correct path.

  • Purchasing and iPad 2 unlocked for use around the world on GSM?

I travel all over the world for my job, can I buy an iPad in the USA, that is unlocked to use on GSM around the world?  Or should I buy an iPad outside the USA to be able to use it both in the USA and internationally on GSM?
    Thank you,

The AT&T version in the US is GSM/sim based and unlocked - you'll just need to get micro-sims from wherever you go.

No but it is obviously not for real and not something you would want to click on.  Kinda wish you hadn't posted the link. Can you delete the link from your post? We don't want anyone clicking it. If not, I'll report the post so it gets deleted (not because it is inappropriate, just to get rid of the link).

  • Site showcase: WWF - The World Is Where You Live

    Hi,
1st off, I'm not sure if this is the best place on the Adobe forums to post this, so if this post belongs somewhere else
on the forums, do let me know.
At disturb media we've launched a site that we're pretty proud off, and would like to share it with you and get your opinions as well.
For the digital element of WWF's 50th Aniversary TTL campaign, Ogilvy & Mather approached partner agencies disturb media
and United Studios to facilitate the creation of 'the world is where you live' site.
A seamless blend of 3D, CGI, moving image, maps and social media API integration all brought into a Flash framework make
this project a really good demonstration of how a hybrid of our skills can work cohesively.
