Are audio tracks in LP8 stored in RAM?

Are audio tracks in LP8 stored in RAM?
I'm just trying to work out whether it's worth upgrading the RAM on my Powermac G5 Dual 2.3 from 4gb to 6gb.

*When using Samplers like Kontakt in DFD mode sample headers (just the attacks of samples) are being loaded into physical RAM
*Using Kontakt in Sampler mode will load all Samples into RAM
*Processing Plug Ins like Reverbs delay etc. work with the available RAM
So yes upgrading to 6 Gigs will do you some good - note that there is a limit for 32-Bit applications which is around 2,7 Gigs for physical RAM and 3,7 Gigs for virtual RAM. You can check this by monitoring your RAM in the activity monitor.

  • Audio Tracks With Partial Clips

The current project I am doing runs 104 minutes, with one standard audio track (A1). The first and last 20 minutes need an audio commentary, and the last 10 minutes need a third audio track (it's an alternate mix, basically).
Rather than creating three separate timelines (obviously, for space reasons -- not to mention efficiency), I have the main audio program on A1, as well as partial clips in A2 (commentary) and A3 (additional audio). However, since A2 and A3 only apply to part of the program, I am using Chapter Playlists (YAY for these!). As a result, A2 and A3 are audio tracks that have clips in parts, but a whole bunch of blank space in the middle.
I wasn't sure if this would work or not, but it seems to, with one small problem -- I just noticed that when listening to ANY of the audio tracks, when a point in the timeline is reached where one of the other audio tracks hits a clip's in point, the audio skips. It's just one small skip, but it's an annoying little imperfection.
For example, if A3 is blank until its clip begins at 95 minutes in the timeline, and I am listening to A1 (main program), then when I reach the 95 minute mark the audio skips. This also concerns me because it makes me wonder, are there any other problems that may arise when playing this DVD in a variety of players. Does anyone know if I might run into other problems?
I thought that by only putting the audio clip and not filling the rest with silence, I would save space on the disc. (My understanding is that a full audio track - even with silence - would take more space because it's encoded at a constant bitrate).
Am I going about this the wrong way by putting on the partial clips? Or should I just put on full clips that simply have silence in the unused portions -- and more importantly, if I were to do that, would it take up more space?
    Thanks!

Did you hear the audio skips on a burned R or RW disc, or just in Encore's preview?
I would expect that "silence" would take up space on the disc. You could test for yourself to see just how much space by creating a test timeline with appropriate silence-d audio tracks, forcing a manual transcode of the audio assets and then taking a peek at the Project and Timeline panels to see how much space they take up.

  • Record button only available for AUDIO TRACK, not for AUDIO INST.

Hi -- For some reason Logic Express 7.1.1 is only giving me the opportunity to record enable tracks that are AUDIO TRACKS. All of my other tracks (mainly software synths) using the AUDIO INSTRUMENTS don't have the ability to record.
I opened previous files where I'd recorded on these tracks, but even on older files, the option still is not there.
    Any thoughts?
As for setup, I just have an MAudio keystaton attached via USB, and it's playing the software instruments fine. Also, I sometimes have an MBox hooked up (although not right now.) I updated this recently for TIGER, and I didn't know if this messed it up.
    Powerbook G4, 1.5 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

don't know if on Logic express there's the key command 'Capture Last Take as Recording'.
If yes, during playback you can play anything you like on your keyboard and by pressing the keys that you have assigned for this key command you can have everything that you played as events on the specific audio instrument as if you were in record mode.
If you move the SPL the new information will delete the previous one.

  • [Pre Ele 9] Audio tracks in project are frozen. Unable to move, edit, or even select.

    Hello,
This is my first project using Premiere. Great program, when you know what you're doing. Right now, I'm on a modest laptop, Vista 32-bit, 2 gigs of RAM, Dual CPU @ 2.00 ghz. My project consists of .wma files, some .mp3's, .wav's, and some .jpgs. It's a small project, only ten minutes, about 20 clips, some 20 cuts.
I don't know exactly what happened. I was trying to move all my audio files I had to close this gap I made. But I think I clicked group, or link or something by mistake, and now, two of my audio tracks are literally unresponsive. They play perfectly for the preview, but I can't move them. I can't even select them. Right clicking the sound track does nothing. Even weirder is that my Audio 1 track is normal. It's just my narration and soundtrack tracks that are causing problems. I've researched online, and I heard about them being "locked" or "disabled", or something with Keyframes. But I don't think that's it. Or maybe I need more of a noob's guide. I turned on track size and saw the waveform for my audio. It's there, but it's dimmer than my Audio 1 waveform. Also, I tried Render and Replace, but that didn't work. Lastly, whenever I try adding a new audio file in any of the two audio  tracks, the program basically ignores it and places it in Audio 1 or  even creates a new audio track.
I know I did something so simple, I know I just need to uncheck this tiny little option. Maybe some of you are even chuckling. But please, help me. End this torment.
If you need more information, let me know.
    Thank you for your consideration.

I agree with Neale on this one. The Narration and Soundtrack are "fixed" Audio Tracks, and have at least one property, that other Audio Tracks do not have - they cannot be Deleted. Usually, they work just fine, as their names indicate, but then sometimes, they just refuse to work properly. Why? I have never seen a common element, when they just sort of freeze up, or refuse to mix-down their Clips.
Because this behavior has struck several, most of us just recommend NOT using either, and instead, just using an empty regular Audio Track. I cannot recall an instance, when that proceeure did not work. This behavior has been around since about PrE4.0, by my readings, but may have happened to even earlier versions. There is just something in the structure of those two Audio Tracks, that gets "out of alignment," either with certain operations, or perhaps certain Assets.
On the note of "certain Assets," do you happen to have any MP3's on either of those Tracks? They can cause no end to problems, and not just on those two fixed Audio Tracks. If you do have MP3's, take a look at this ARTICLE.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • HT3161 I have a 27" mac running with a 3.4 ghz core i7 and 16 gigs of ram and using the latest logic. I have a composition consisting of 7 audio tracks and 4 software instruments and 4 plugins on 4 tracks so why is my CPU spiking ?

I'm running a 27" imac with a 3.4ghz core i7 processor and 16 gb of ram.... In logic I have a project with 7 audio tracks with various plugins running and 4 software instruments which incidentally are not playing all the way through the track...my CPU spikes even if the project is paused...why is this happening on such a high end machine.....wasting my money again seems to spring to mind !!

  • Audio not stored in audio track

I am a new user of Premiere Pro CS3 and did just a few projects. So far I did not have problems storing my comments to a sequence in the specified audio track. But with this project I did not succeed. The function works still works fine for other - new or old - projects but not for this one.
I think I have the same settings. My equipment works fine. But my comments are not stored in the audio track. I think that must be a problem of a setting. but which one. Of course I activated the track for the storing of audio. But nothing happens.
Any ideas? Thanks for any hints.

Be sure you're using the correct
    type of
    audio track.
    Cheers

  • On my ipad 2 I can't "see" the hundreds of spoken audio tracks that are in my itunes and on my ipod touch. Is there something I didn't do during sync up?

On my ipad 2 I can't "see" the hundreds of spoken audio tracks that are in my itunes and on my ipod touch. Is there something I didn't do during sync up? The tracks are from voice recordings that were downloaded from an extrernal drive and weren't necessarily tagged as spoken audio. Do I need to go back into itunes and relabel these tracks so they will show up on my ipad2?
Thanks in advance for your help!

With the iPad connected to the computer, while iTunes is running, click on the iPad name on the left side under devices. Click on the Movies tab and look for Movie Rentals. You want to "Move" the films to the iPad.

  • Is there a way to decipher what chords are being used in an audio track?

I use logic pro x software and I was looking at this piece of audio. It's a synth lead and I wanted to create a bass to go with it however it's hard to work out the chords used so I was wondering if there are any add ons or something that can tell me what chords are used in the audio track. Im looking for something kind of like the BMI counter but for chord recognition. Can anyone help me! if not would anyone be able to decipher them for me? thanks

Not that i am aware of.. Not for Audio tracks.. Midi tracks yes, Audio no....
However there are 3rd party apps/websites that might do the job....

  • Audio Tracks are silent after Narration PE12

Audio Tracks are silent after Narration. Mixer is at 0.0dB on all channels. Audio plays fine when double clicked but is silent when played back on timeline. Narration is fine. Any ideas as to what's happening and how to correct this?

What you described is a known issue with Premiere Elements 12/12.1. I have not been able to reproduce the problem which has been encountered by
    several. But....
Please read about the fix offered by Llamadude99. That specific fix as well as modifications of it have resolved this problem for several.

  • Why are multiple audio tracks causing one of the track levels to increase automatically when the other doesn't have an audio file in it?

So I'm editing an interview and during subtitle sequences in the interview where there is no audio in the interview audio track, the levels automatically rise in the background music track.  Here's an illustration of my problem...
    http://i58.tinypic.com/2rh3atf.jpg
I also troubleshooted by clicking the Solo button on the background music track and the music plays at the elevated level the whole way through when it's set to be the only track to play.  So for some reason, the interview audio track (when it's playing sound) is causing the background music track to decrease in level.  I get the same thing on exports.  Why is Premiere messing with my levels automatically?  No phone or chat support so I'm left asking the forums, thanks for the great customer service Adobe.

    Hi Richard,
Appreciate you taking the time to help out.  There are absolutely no effects whatsoever on the audio or video tracks.

  • HT1689 Is it possible to view my audio tracks stored on my iPhone in anything other than list view when it is plugged into iTunes via my mac?

    Hi,
When my iphone is plugged into my mac I can only view the songs on it in a list.  I sync my music manually so I can add or delete a song with ease.  I can view the songs on the mac in list, cover flow etc but when I look on the iphone within itunes, these options are all greyed out and I can only see the songs in a list.  I have nearly 500 songs on it at the moment and it is hard to easily see which albums are on the iphone.  Any help gratefully received!

Unfortunately, you cannot change the view of your audio tracks.

  • All additional audio tracks in synchronized or compound clips are merged into the mono-mix.

    Hi all.
I have a video with a stereo track and six separate audio tracks from set. I synced them. If you open the synchronized clip in a separate timeline, all audio tracks are on place and have their names. But if I append it to the storyline and expand audio components, there are only two audio tracks: monomix from the original video with its name and one stereo track named "a1", which is a mix of all additional audio tracks. The same thing happens if I make a compound clip, with a small difference. It forced me to give up the work I wanted to do.

    Any thoughts?

Multicam works, but it is not very convenient. I can not use Sync-N-Link as I had planned, I get problems with export AAF and DaVinci do not like multicam in XML.
Channel configuration mirrors two tracks in the storyline, as you can see in the screenshots.

  • Video & Audio Tracks are not connected

For some reason my video and audio tracks are no longer conneted. It used to be when I would click on the video track that the 2 audio tracks that match it would also be highlighted so I could move them together, trim them together, etc. but for some reason now all my video clips that I put on the timeline are seperate (1 video and 2 audio) so I have to highlight all 3 lines to have them stay together, and it will not let me trim or apply transitions to all 3 at the same time. Is there a setting for this?

Make sure the "Link" button is on-- it's the small chain at the top right of the timeline, next to snapping. Once turned on, though, your clips already on the timeline may still lack cohesion; if so, select a video clip and the audio clip(s) that you want to link, and go Modify>Link.

  • Audio Tracks Are Destructive?

I'm quite new to Premiere, but not so very new to NLEs. The biggest hurdle I'm having with my switch to Premiere is that when I drop a new video+audio file on the timeline, or if I drag an already existing file around on the timeline, and that file's audio track should land on top of any other file's audio clip, the audio clip that was there is suddenly truncated. I would expect that the audio clips would just be stacked on top of one another, but it appears that any audio clip that gets all or partially "hidden" by another track is actually destroyed.
I've tried dragging the audio clip back out to be the same length as its associated video clip, but no matter what I do, the audio clip always remains shorter than its associated video clip.
Is there some command to "restore this video track's audio?" A command that would either bring it back if it got totally destroyed, or allow me to "stretch" the audio clip back to the same length as its video track?
I hope that makes sense to someone...
    Thanks,
    -joe

I would expect that the audio clips would just be stacked on top of one another
Not automatically (and rightly so).  You have to 'stack' them manually, placing the second clip on Audio 2, or 3, or whatever.
the audio clip always remains shorter than its associated video clip.
Hold down the ALT key when you drag the audio portion.
These are both pretty basic items available in the Help file.  I suggest a thorough read before actually using the software.  You'll become much more proficient and have far fewer issues.

  • Capturing only 1 audio track when there are 2 audio tracks

Has this happened to anybody ?
I had to fiddle with the capture settings in Final Cut to accommodate for progressive HDV video. When I changed it back to my normal interlaced HDV video, I had trouble with the sound tracks. (I have tried changing all the settings in the HDV 50i possibilities. I'm in europe)
I only get one sound track in stead of two (but I can hear both sound tracks when I capture).
If I get 2 sound tracks, They aren't imported into the project. If I try to import them without restarting, final cut doesn't recognize them.
But recently, no matter what I do (changing settings) I only get 1 audio track.
    Ideas ?
    Thanks !

I would like to add to this thread. I have this same issue, it's extraordinarily frustrating, and I'm not finding any useful information online. This is a serious bug and hopefully it can be addressed.
    FCP 7.0.2
    MacPro 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    16 GB RAM
    Mac OS 10.6.4
I'm trying to capture HDV 1080i footage shot on a Sony V1U, using a Sony HDV deck that I've used hundreds of times without running into this issue. The footage has two audio tracks -- of this I am absolutely 100% certain -- yet when batch importing clips, Final Cut captures only 1 track. This happens whether or not I have it set to capture a stereo pair or two mono tracks.
Again, there is no issue with the tape or the audio. It's there. I can sit and watch the preview meters in the FCP clip settings tab as I play it, and both channels register and display levels independently. Final Cut is capturing only one of them. For the life of me I can't figure out why.
I have trashed preferences. Restarted. Rebooted. Tried multiple Easy Setups. I still get only one track of audio when batch capturing. Amazingly, if I Capture Now from the exact same tape, I get two channels of audio. I have a project with hundreds of clips already logged - I need to batch capture them.
If anyone has insight into this bug, please help. Thanks!
