Are batteries interchangeable between 5th, 6th, and 7th gen iPod Classics?

I'm currently working on upgrading several 5th, 6th and 7th gen iPod Classics (or Videos in the 5th gen case) and I need to replace the batteries.  I'm wondering if the batteries are interchangeable.  I see when I look at them that all batteries have the same voltage and the same basic specs (some being lithium-ion and some lithium polymer).  One seller on Ebay lists them as interchangeable, although I'm not sure I trust them and I don't get the impression they speak clear English.  Also, if anyone wants to give their preference on the two types of battery (Li-Ion or Li-Poly), I'd be happy to hear that too.

The answer is rolling back to 10.10.1 from Time Machine. Doing that solved my problem.

  • I'm confused about 6th and 7th generation ipod classic

what is the difference between the 6th and 7th generation ipod classic??

Any song purchased from any of the five computers you've authorized to play content from the iTunes music store will play on all of the authorized machines. You will need to copy the actual song files yourself, as you probably won't be able to redownload the songs from the music store without purchasing them again. Some people have gotten previously purchased music redownloaded for free; contacting the Music Store customer service is necessary for this.

  • How do I get both of my nano 6th and 7th gen to be recognised by itunes?

I have a 6th and 7th gen nano and both have the same error stating that itunes can see an ipod connected but cannot ID either of them. I am using Windows 8.1 and all was fine until recently. How do I get both of my nanos to be recognised by itunes? I have tried all of the suggestions within troubleshooting but nothing works

    Hello FoZ0872,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPods when connected to iTunes.  You have taking some really good troubleshooting steps already, but I found a couple of articles with additional steps you can take to further troubleshoot the issue.  You can skip any steps you have already taken.
If you don't see your iPod in the My Computer section of Windows, follow the steps in this article:
iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows

If Windows recognizes your iPod but iTunes does not, follow the steps in this article:

  • Ipod nano (both 6th and 7th gen) not recognized by itunes

Ipod nano (both 6th and 7th gen) not recognized by itunes. Before you send me to the help pages, i have followed EVERY STEP you provided, from uninstalling, removing temp files... you name it. I was recently upgraded to windows 8.1.

For anyone else having this problem, I found this solution to work. Try this first:
    a) Get Windows to restart the drivers:
        - disconnect your USB device and close ITunes
        - connect your USB device
        - if ITunes loads, close it.
    b) File explorer:
Open File explorer and browse to
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
In that folder there should be a set of files named "usbaapl64...."
right click on the one ending in "INF"
    Select Install.  It's very quick.
    remove the USB device
    c) Restart the computer.
When you login again, load ITunes before you attach your USB device.
d)If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job.
    f) If still not works, try re-install iTunes. Go into the Unstall Programs (in Control Panel) and uninstall everything that says Apple, and uninstall Bonjour. With the fresh install of iTunes, everything came back and is should work. Hope it helps.

  • 7th Gen iPod Classic was unplugged during sync, now it pops up in Windows Explorer, but not iTunes. How can I fix this?

    Okay.
I have a Windows 7 x32 OS, and an 80gb Silver 7th Gen iPod Classic.
So, I bought an iPod used off of eBay and I recently decided that 80gb was a bit too much, so I was going to resell it on eBay and buy a smaller iPod.
While I was restoring it to set it back to factory settings, my computer shut off due to a power problem.
Now when I plug it in, I get a message from windows saying "You need to format the disk in drive :M before you can use it. Do you want to format it?"
It shows up in windows explorer as a Removable Disk, and it isn't being detected by iTunes. I plug it in the iPod says "Connected. Eject before disconnecting." with a symbol that it makes when it is syncing.
I've tried putting it in disk mode, and it still will not detect it.
Can somebody help me? I really don't want to be stuck with a broken iPod.
If anyone needs or wants any more information before they can advise, please feel free to tell me what you need to know and I will post it!
Thanks, and have a blessed day.

  • I'm looking for a good case for the 7th gen iPod classic. Not some silicon skin but a good case.  Help?

I really do want a new case for my 7th gen iPod classic. It seems there's barely anything on the market anymore except skins.  I don't want a skin. Anything still out there? Searching the web is depressing me.

I bought this hard case for my iPod. I like it but you are right, there isn't a lot of choice out there!

  • While restoring the factory settings on my 7th gen iPod classic, my computer blue-screened. Now, my iPod just keeps continually restarting and cannot be recognized by my computer or iTunes.

Is there a way I can make my iPod stop restarting and be recognized by my computer so I can continue to use it?

    Hello GraceSchaff
Try putting your iPod Classic into Disk Mode and then in iTunes click restore when it shows up to take care of that process again.

  • (7th Gen) iPod Classic Disk Scan mode

Does anyone know if there is a the built-in disk scan in the very latest iPod classic (160GB) and if so howd do you invoke it?
May I politely ask you not to reply with suggestions unless you actually have done this on the 2009 classic model yourself - I ask this as posters in numerous forums refer to the methods for the older classics, and other iPods, and I've tried all the previous key combinations posted (and several that aren't mentioned!) with no success. It also doesn't appear in the diagnostics menu or any manual I've seen so far.
    Thanks in advance/

Great reply, thanks. I'd seen something that mentioned 'Pending sectors'. My report:
    Retracts: 12
    Reallocs: 6424
    Pending Sectors: 0
    PowerOn Hours: 76
    Start/Stops: 4109
    Temp: Current 23c
    Temp: Min 16c
Temp: Max 57c (I think I may synch my library in chunks from now on!)
Sounds like I can rest easy.
Essentially I was getting Windows Delayed Write errors until I did the re-registering of the dll's (as suggested by Apples phone support) but after I'd fixed that I was still getting a stall at a couple of points (mainly at 4GB but also at 10GB) when synching from scratch and thought I might still have an HD problem. However I've done a few more 'restore & resynchs' and this hesitancy is no longer apparent - I suspected that something had finally marked some sector as bad.
I have recently gleaned from several posts that:
    i) Pending Sectors were bad sectors waiting reallocation by good sectors.
ii) Reallocs were sectors marked bad and replaced by good ones (so essentially not going to get used again).
iii)Retracts are the number of times the heads were retracted during an (unexpected?) power-off event.
So I guess my high number of Reallocs and zero Pendings must indicate a bit of a problem that's now fixed though at the expense of a fair few sectors - I've no idea of the size of a sector and how many might represents a major problem though.
    Thanks again.

  • My 7th gen ipod Classic has frozen, I have tried everything- HELP!

I have tried holding menu and select; holding menu and play; leaving overnight for any change; connecting to docking station; connecting to computer. NOTHING is making my screen work- its frozen on the home page and it will not navigate anywhere. please help?

    Hello,
Try plugging it into your computer, and see if it will turn on. If not, bring it to the apple store to see if they can help, or help you buy a new one.

  • Why will my 7th generation ipod classic not work in my 2006 VW Passat?

I equipped my vehicle with the VW iPod connector that was hardwired into my vehicle.  I have used both a 1st Gen iPod video/classic as well as a 4th Gen iPod nano with no issues.  However, the 7th gen iPod classic I recently purchased will not play music through my car's stereo system.  It will charge, but is otherwise undetected by the vehicle.

Because it isn't designed to do that. The only Bluetooth profiles on the Nano are A2DP (Stereo Bluetooth) and low energy (think heart monitor). You cannot sync with it.
