Are BT Yahoo IMAP servers seriously unreliable????...

Please help, this is driving me mad!
I have numerous machines, connected via BT Infinity using the imap.mail.yahoo.com server to get messages and sync a few folders and messages (not many - low volumes of mail in general). They are set to SSL port 993, and outgoing is smtp.mail.yahoo.com SSL port 465, with authentication. My frequency of checking mail is 5 mins.
And I get so many connection errors and timouts, I just can't belive it!! (I also have the server timeout error delay set to the maximum too) - my gmail imap works fine, but I keep getting connection time outs it is driving me insane - one minute I get the error, the next it just works.
An example of an error is - Your Imap command could not be sent to the server, due to non-network errors. This could be for example indicate a lick of memory in your system - Live Mail Error ID - 0x800CCC0E.
This error gives me NO clue as to what it is.
I am using Windows Live Mail 2012, and other clients including Outlook 2007, and the same thing keeps happening on my HTC One X andriod via the standard email client - when out and about using the TMOBILE cellular 3 g network.
I have a mixed environment, Windows 7, 8 and Mac OS too - everything is uptodate and clean.
After all the embarrassing incident of half a million hacked email acconts, I have just about lost faith in BT to subcontract out their email to Yahoo - who simply are not delivering on reliability, security - and the support you get from BT on the phone STINKS ! - because they do not know much about an email system that is not theirs afterall. What a joke!!!!
Please please can someone suggest another set of setting that work - or just confirm, that I should be chucking in the towel and just redirect all my stuff to a different provider.
Thanks, that's my rant over with - I feel better now already!
Regards,
Richard.

The Yahoo mail system has been flaky for ages.  Sometimes it gets better and sometimes it gets worse.  Apparently the problem is that their mail servers keep going wrong.  If you are lucky, you get through to a good one, if you're unlucky, you're connected to a bad one.
However, BT are migrating across to a new provider ... http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/44789/?s_cid=con_FURL_email_newemail

  • Yahoo IMAP-IDLE totally unreliable

    Hi there,
my iPhone won't notice new mails waiting on the Yahoo-server. I will have to update manually to have the phone look. Even the automatic mail check every 30 mins won't work.
But sometimes, by accident, it works and shows new mail within a minute!
    My prefs: "Use Push-Mail: ACTIVE"
"Autom. mail check: every 30 mins"
    What's wrong?

mny, Yahoo! Mail's "push" email delays as well as sent email sometimes not being sent are known issues at Apple, please submit feedback to Apple on this bug, as well as call AppleCare to have them create a trouble ticket. The more people that report this, the faster we will all have a fix.
    Done.
    Thx!

  • Version 31.3.0 hangs on Windows 7, for 2 IMAP servers and for yahoo

Just upgraded to 31.3.0 on Windows 7. I have 2 IMAP servers and yahoo accounts configured. Thunderbird client just hangs there (shows Searching... at the bottom), doesn't show any emails. Also, unable to bring up various windows: Tools->Add Ons and Tools->Options do not pop any windows. Worked just fine in previous version.

what happens when you hold shift while starting Thunderbird?

Nope, no correlation between them (other than password)

  • Unable to connect on email yahoo Imap?

All passwords are correct, and I have been into Apple today, and whilst it seemed to pick up emails in the shop.  Once home it hasn't.
We deleted the btinternet.com email in Apple serveral times, and Added account, eventully it worked...strange, but it did work.
But once at home it didn't!
I have Ipad and iphone and can pick up emails on these, but these are both POP accounts.
Everytime I add my email account, it becomes Yahoo Imap....and think this is what is causing the problem.
I can't even set up the account to a POP, because everytime I start the "add account "it automically becomes an Imap account on  my Macbook Pro.
    (all software is upto date)
Please can someone give me some advice and help.
Would adding apple.imap.yahoo.com  help on the outgoing and incoming server?
thanks in anticaption, that someone can help.

Re: Yahoo IMAP server - Rejected Password
Apr 16, 2013 1:49 AM (in response to Renesisdriver)
For BT users I think I have a workaround (that may work for all clients). Not my ideas but a combination of suggestions given by other users.
A combination of the following seems to have worked for me.
Go to "Spotlight" on your Mac, top right corner. Type "keychain access". When the pop up screen appears, make sure in the left column you have both the following tabs selected. "Login" & "passwords". From there look through the list in the columns you have and delete EVERY mention of "yahoo" i.e. "smpt.mail.yahoo.com". Basically, if you see a line with Yahoo in it, then get rid of it.
Go to your Yahoo email account on your browser, before you login deselect the tick boxthat asks you if you want to stay signed in. After logging in, log out.
Go to "Mail" on your Mac and open up the prefernce pane. Go to accounts and channge the servers for your BT Yahoo email accounts to the following.
    Use:
    Incoming Server - apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com
    Outgoing Server - apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    4. Restart "Mail". On some of my yahoo email accounts this worked instantaneously for me. On others it took around 5 minutes for the account to start working again. 12 hours in and the problem seems to be gone.
    Good Luck to all.
    this worked for me, thank-you

  • Yahoo IMAP for incoming, other account for outgoing?

Does anybody know how to configure incoming IMAP mail on Yahoo via the 'other' mail settings? I currently have Mail Plus on Yahoo that allows me to send mail in Yahoo from an external account. I would like to do the same in the iPhone. I can't do it via a normal Yahoo account setup, so I am hoping to do it via 'other' email account.
    Here is what I have:
    Incoming Host: imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com
Username and password: yahoo username and password.
When I do that, it tells me that it cannot get mail for this user. The strange thing is that everything in the inbox is there and I can send email from the account I would like. My problem is that I cannot find any of the subfolders of the inbox like I see when configuring a Yahoo account normally on the iPhone.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

unfortunately, there are a number of things that might be causing problems, and I haven't tried exactly what you're doing.
I was trying something similar, and got it to work only on Edge, because when on Wi-Fi on my home network, first my anti-virus detected "spoofing"; settings different between mail servers and email address, then secondly, Yahoo!'s server's detected something funky with my account, etc.
Also, there are issues with different servers for different accounts, meaning, I have an @yahoo.com address, an @sbcglobal.net address and another one, so I had different settings for each one.
Unless someone else has a definitive answer for you, I'd look at the Yahoo! site and find the page that tells you how to connect to the various clients, via pop and imap (they prob. won't have a section for an iphone, but the different directions usually just explicate how to get from point a to point b, with the settings being the same).
One thing that helped me tremendously was not to fight with the settings on the iPhone. What I would do is fight with the settings on my PC, get THAT to go correctly, then sync that connection with the iPhone. That's how I got my Exchange IMAP going initially (pre-update).
Yahoo has started using certificates to try to cut down on "spoofing" which might be your problem.

  • Sent items on yahoo Imap not synchronising with sent items on yahoo mail outlook 2011

I had a problem where the my yahoo imap  which I set up with Outlook 2011 was not synchronizing with Yahoo from the web.
I found the solution today by switching from Sent items( Server) to Sent( Server).
    1. Go to tools
    2. Accounts
    3.Advance options
    4. Folders
    5. Then you will see sent. Drop down the window and you will see what I have shown in the screen shot below.
It worked for me and now all my emails are synchronising very well.

the last sentence should read...."this folder do however only have the sent emails that was sent from my imac, and not the emails that was sent from my ipad".
I want all my sent items on all my devices the same, in other words the should come from the server and not the specific device I'm using

  • Problem with Yahoo IMAP and Mail...

I'm having an issue with my Yahoo IMAP setup and mail on my desktop:
I have set up my yahoo email account with IMAP on both my iphone 4 and with mail on macbook pro.  It has worked fine, all my folders are synced up on both devices and everything runs well except for one small problem.  When I read an email on my Iphone, the mail program on my macbook pro never knows.  Every day I come back to my computer, and all of my yahoo emails remain as "new" and "unread" even though I had checked all of them on my iphone.  Its very weird because the opposite is not true - in other words - if I check a Yahoo email on my macbook pro, then my Iphone recognizes it and will show it is "read" as soon as I read it on macbook pro.
I also have an IMAP work email hosted by gator and a gmail account and I do not have this problem, its only on my yahoo account.  I have tried the following settings:
    Incoming server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
    Outgoing server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    Incoming server - apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com
    Outgoing server - smtp.apple.mail.yahoo.com
I have set everything to ssl with ports 465 and 993.  Still keep getting this same problem that my macbook pro does not recognize when emails have been read on my iphone (for only the yahoo account).
Anybody else having this problem or have any suggestions on how to fix??

    http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mobile/comms/mail/imap-01.html
To set up IMAP on your mobile device please use these settings:
    Incoming Server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
    Outgoing Server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Incoming Port - 993 (requires SSL)
    Outgoing Port - 465 (requires SSL/TLS)
Username: full email address (for example, [email protected] or [email protected])
Password: the password you login to Yahoo! with.
If you are having trouble setting up IMAP on your mobile device we recommend reviewing your phones instruction manual or contacting your mobile provider for support.
    http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78799
You can use the following information to configure IMAP with many mail clients. If you encounter difficulties, we suggest contacting your mail client's customer support department for further instructions -- we're unable to provide assistance with configuring mail clients not listed here.
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - requires SSL:     imap.gmail.com
    Use SSL: Yes
    Port: 993
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS:     smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
    Use Authentication: Yes
Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
    Port: 465 or 587
Account Name:     your full email address (including @gmail.com) Google Apps users, please enter username@your_domain.com
Email Address:     your full Gmail email address ([email protected]) Google Apps users, please enter username@your_domain.com
    Password:     your Gmail password
Please note that if your client does not support SMTP3 authentication, you won't be able to send mail through your client using your Gmail address.
Also, if you're having trouble sending mail but you've confirmed that encryption is active for SMTP in your mail client, try to configure your SMTP server on a different port: 465 or 587.

  • Lion Mail Yahoo IMAP Sync Inconsistent

Observed behavior: Mail is syncing with Yahoo IMAP every five minutes, but when I delete or mark messages as read from the Yahoo website, iPhone or any other device, the Mail app will not reflect these changes even after the auto or manul sync. In order to force Mail to sync accurately, I have to take the account offline and then switch it back online. Then, Mail syncs correctly.
If I force the re-sync WITHOUT first taking the account offline, the sync is not accurate. Even if new messages appear in the mailbox, the other deleted and marked-read messages are not accurately reflected in the sync. Again, the only way to make it accurate is to take offline and bring back online. Of course, if I restart Mail, this also resolves the issue. Restarting Mail is the same thing as far as the Yahoo IMAP server is concerned.
This problem is easily reproducible. I have tried a number of remedies.
    1. I deleted the original Yahoo IMAP account and added a new Yahoo IMAP account with a new name multiple times. No change.
    2. I restarted my Mac to see if this helps. Other than the temporary effect of restarting Mail, this does not change a thing.
    3. I have looked on the Yahoo site, and well... Here I am.
    4. I also looked on Gmail site, almost more helpful.
    5. Finally, I looked on the Apple Support Communities but cannot find an answer.
So, let's see if there are others having the same issue and maybe there is a solution somewhere.
    Thank you.

This is definitely not Yahoo-specific, nor is it new.  Definitely seems to be a bug in Mail.app.  This has been happening at least since 10.5 (am now on 10.8.2), and I have a GoDaddy hosted IMAP account.
Same symptoms...I delete emails on my Mac in Mail.app.  I've gotten into the habit of forcing a manual sync.  The emails disappear from the Mac, but several minutes or sometimes many minutes later, if I look on my iPhone or iPad, the messages have not been deleted.  If I subsequently go look on my Mac, or at the server through a webmail browser - they're back.
However, if I delete the emails from my iPhone or iPad - they really do get deleted.
As stated up above - quitting and reopening Mail.app can force a real sync that gets things going back in sync...it seems like maybe Mail.app somehow forgets to actually sync...so when this starts happening - i.e. I notice deleted emails still appear on my iPad - if I quit mail and reopen it, it also shows the previously deleted email.  So the symptoms seem like there is a "cache" of actions (deletes) in Mail.app that is not getting processed to the server.  When you quit, this list seems to get flushed and whatever is causing Mail.app not to sync to the server gets remedied and on restart, the not-deleted emails show up because Mail.app now syncs with the server.  Occasionally it seems Mail.app somehow can come out of this without being restarted...I'm not sure if that happens when it's "kicked" by some other event, e.g. an incoming message, to sync.
    Extremely annoying.

my iWeb image names are incompatible with FTP servers and must be renamed but I can't find the images in iWeb. I can upload to a desktop file and change them there but then I would need to download them to a new site in iWeb to publish them.
    What's the answer?
    Thanks

Many thanks to  responded to my question and sorry not to get back sooner.
Yes, I discovered by this unfortunate experience that the names of photos are a serious issue if the site is to ever go to an FTP server.  Apple should discuss this carefully in their "manual".
One more question:  I uploaded the website to a folder on my desktop. When I open it, unlike the photos in iWeb, there are folders for each page which have all the photos in them. I went through each folder and changed the names to be FTP compatible. I'm using iWeb SEO Tool which allows one to upload from this local folder to an FTP server but having trouble.
Is this because there is an imbedment in iWeb that uses the old photo names to link to the actual photos and it can't find them because of the name changes?
Thanks again for your help ...

  • Suddenly can no longer receive Yahoo IMAP in Mail

I have suddenly become unable to receive Yahoo IMAP mail in my Mail client in Yosemite on my MacBook Pro (13"  Early 2011).
I can send mail, but not receive it. I suspect a problem on the Apple/OS X side, because my iOS devices are still receiving Yahoo IMAP mail.
I tried deleting and re-adding my Yahoo account. Now, not only can't I receive mail, I can't see any mail in my Inbox! Yet, I can see all my Yahoo folders and their contents while using Mail.

    Hello Paul,
Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
It does seem like you're encountering an issue with email that's isolated to your Yahoo IMAP account in Mac OS X.
For a situation like this, start with the troubleshooting tips in the section of this article called "Mail Connection Doctor shows one or more red dots in the account Status column:"

This article contains a variety of steps that can help resolve an issue like the one you're seeing.

  • Logical systems assignment when SRM and ECC are on 2 different servers

    Hi SRM guru's,
What is the standard practice for Logical system creation and assignment when  ECC and SRM are on 2 different servers.
I could not able to find which i created a logical system  in SRM server which i created in ECC
    Same for the ECC also.
how do i assign logical system of SRM to ECC
    vice versa.
    your prompt response is appreciated.
    Regards

    Hi Sai,
Logical System Naming/Creation procedure is not dependent on the servers but it is just a logical representation of a system.
As you are trying to name logical systems for ECC & SRM, please follow the below procedure which is usually recommeded by SAP and followed.
    Logical System : <SID>CLNT<Client Number>
For Example if you have a client 300 in system DE0 (also called SID), the logical system name will be DE0CLNT300. And it will be same for SRM system.
You can refer the below document which eplains the creation of logical system and RFC destinations etc
    http://help.sap.com/printdocu/core/Print46c/en/data/pdf/CABFAALEQS/CABFAALEQS.pdf
Note: Only while configuring the RFC Destination, the servers will play a crucial role.

  • How do I set up Apple Mail with Yahoo (IMAP) so I can delete mail on my iphone but leave it on the server and iMac.

I am trying to maintain my inbox on my imac while not carrying around all my mail on my iphone.  As of now, I only seem to be able to sync the inboxes.  If I delete a mail on my iphone, it disappears on both the server and imac.  I only seem to be able to make it move the mail to the deleted mail box and keep it there.

That's the way IMAP servers work. The messages really live on the server; the iPhone and the iMac just view them.

As I am not particularly tech savvy, am not the one who set up this network drive, I dont want to interfere with it too much. I simply want to be able to get a basic understanding of the issue. We had set up a previous share, since deleted, that allowed
us to have a shared folder to work on documents between the US and Ireland. This new share has been working fine up until yesterday, when we got the above error messages when trying to access the share. Later in the day, it just worked again. Today, I go to
open the folder and the same error messages turned up, what could be going on??

    Hi Tomas,
Did your computer join the domain? How did you access that shared resource?
Please turn off your firewall temporarily and type the correct UNC address to access for test:
    \\servername\sharename \file_path
If it doesn't work, use the IP address of the remote server when you try to connect to the network share.

We currently are running Windows 7 in our enterprise environment. Everything works as expected when the user tries to
