Are business accounts "screwed" out of devices with iOS7 iCloud Lock?

I manage cell phones and records with a company with about 1000 lines including iPhones and iPads. The thing i feared, which came reality happened last week. When an employee is terminated, we take their phone and or tablet, and computer before they leave that day. I have an employee who was rather angry at termination and tossed his phone and computer and left. Now that i have the employees iphone 5s, when i go to restore the phone, it asks for his information to his iCloud. As you can assume, the ex-employee was very unwilling to cooperate, so now by apple's means, it seems that we have a very expensive brick, as can possibly turn into a HUGE issue for this company. We will likely have to stop supporting apple devices running iOS7 and later.
I've looked and there seems to be no bypass, i see this becoming a HUGE issue for businsses down the road. I really don't understand why apple would have not thought about these scenarios while developing the feature. While it is a nice feature to have personally, this is a terrible business idea.

The way we address this situation is the same as with any other company - issued equipment. The employee must return any equipment in working order, otherwise he or she forfeits any severance or final paycheck. An iPhone / iPad that has been disabled with Activation Lock is not considered "in working order".

Surely you didn't pay they guy after that. It's no different than wrecking a company car or running up a credit card.

  • A Verizon cellphone tower in my area is feeding multiple Verizon Customers / Devices with the incorrect time (one hour behind) when we are in range of this tower

A Verizon cellphone tower in my area is feeding multiple Verizon Customers / Devices with the incorrect time (one hour behind) when we are in range of this tower (in this specific area).   Our phones show the correct time in other areas.   Is there a way to fix or report this?

The zip code that this is occurring in is: 87102
    Specifically when I am at
    1001 Woodward Pl NE
    Albuquerque, NM 87102
Upon further investigation, it is happening to anyone with a Verizon handset, regardless of specific device.  I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and my co-worker has a Motorola Droid Turbo and we are both having the issue.  Anyone on a different carrier (T-Mobile, AT&T) is fine, and is not experiencing this issue.
It actually looks like the cell tower is feeding us the correct time, but its like it forgot daylight savings happened.  So it is feeding us the incorrect time zone/day light savings information.
When I goto Settings -> Date and Time on my Android device,  I have both "Automatic date and time" and "Automatic time zone" checked.
the "Automatic timezone" it is pulling from the Verizon cell tower is "Mountain -7".   It is correct that we are in the "Mountain" timezone, but we are currently "Mountain -6" (also known as day light savings).   So the Cell Tower things it MST when it should be MST DST
When I uncheck "Automatic time zone" and select my own, suddenly it lets me select "Mountain -6" and doesn't even give me the option of "Mountain -7".
So in conclusion, some cell tower in the area of zip code 87102 forgot that daylight savings ever happened, and is telling cellphones they are in the "Mountain -7" timezone, instead of the correct current timezone of "Mountain -6 DST"
Edit: Oh, sorry, and to answer your question, it began happening about 3 weeks ago.  We started noticing around March 25th, maybe a little after that.

  • When synchronizing devices with service Icloud lost notes.

    Hello!
When synchronizing devices with service Icloud lost notes.
Notes on the iPhone version was replaced by a version of the notes, which was on ipad. Can be stored earlier version on your server?

    The plot thickens......
Before I lead anyone astray, let me clarify one point. Last week I received an email from Apple to my me.com account asking me to migrate to iCloud which I dutifully (maybe foolishly) did. As the time I did not realize what was happening because it seems to be THAT event which caused all of my notes to disappear. I cannot seem to find them anywhere. I fiddled around with the setting on my iPhone and at one point, I was asked to create a NEW me.com account. Now I am TOTALLY confused because I thought me.com was going away short and..... gee whiz I JUST MIGRATED MY ME.COM ACCOUNT TO iCloud.
So it begs the question, "Where the heck are my notes?"
Once again, any assistance is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John

  • HT1766 can I back up my new device with both icloud & itunes

Can I restore my new device from both itunes and icloud ?

    You've asked 2 different questions.
can i back up my new device with both icloud & itunes
You can set it up to backup to iCloud. Once you've done this you can back it up to iTunes on your computer manually, so technically, yes. You can back it up to both.
Can I restore my new device from both itunes and icloud ?
If you have backed up a device to both, then you can restore either one. Restoring completely overwrites the contents of the phone, so if you restore it from iCloud, then restore it from iTunes, the data you restored from iCloud will be wiped from the phone and replaced with the data you restored from iTunes. The only way to initiate a restore from iCloud is to wipe the phone and start the iCloud restore from the setup wizard...
Now, maybe you'd like to re-state your question so that you get the answer you're actually looking for instead of answers that correctly address what you asked, but do not address what you meant to ask.

  • Can You Still Track YOur Iphone 5 With Ios7 Activation Lock After It Has Been Restored?

Please Help My Iphone 5 With IOS7 Activation Lock,  Was Stolen And I Am Activately Tracking It and I Was Wondering If It Was Posssible To Keep Tracking IT After It Has Been Restored

It can't be restored unless the thief knows your Apple ID and password.
What To Do If Your iDevice or Computer Is Lost Or Stolen
    iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

  • If I have forwarded all of my other email accounts to iCloud.  How come emails sent to me are not showing up on my devices? (yes, iCloud is set up on iPhone/iPad)

I was in the Apple Store today because I was getting duplicate emails on my Mac and on my iPhone.  So they encouraged me to just use iCloud.  I then went to Gmail and changed my settings to forward my email to my iCloud account.  I have received nothing on my iPad or iPhone and the emails are just going to the corresponding inboxes on my Mac.
    What is going on??

What you've outlined in this part of the post is all that icloud stores for you outside of the backup. If you want to restore from the icloud backup you will then have for all practical purposes a carbon restoration back to your device if you restore from the icloud backup.
    deltajane wrote:
I want to delete photos that are on my iphone, by doing so from the computer, not my phone.
Syncing your device with itunes will then enable you to remove whatever photos you wish to remove from your device deleting them with the computer and not the iphone.

  • Can I setup 2 devices, with different iCloud accounts, on "Find My iPad" app?

    Hi all,
I am new to the iPad/iPhone world (bit of a late convert!!), and I have tried searching for the answer to this but I can't find the specific answer...but apologies if this has been covered before.
I have an iPad, and the wife has an iPhone.  We both have separate Apple IDs and iCloud accounts.  We both have just downloaded the "Find My iPhone" app. It looks great, but we would like to be able to view both devices from the same account.  Is it possible, where we both have separate iCloud accounts?  Or, are we both able to setup a third 'joint' iCloud account on our devices, that we only use for the "Find My iPhone" app?
Any help, for this 'newbie', would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Glenn

You can only use the "find my phone" feature with one iCloud account. In order to be able to find your partner's phone using the app on yours, you would need to log into her account in the "find my phone".
If all you are merely interested in, is knowing the location of each other, there is another app called "find friends" that may be of interest to you.

  • Two IOS Devices with single icloud acc, but storage remains 5gb only

    Hi
I have iphone 4 and ipod 5th gen. For both i`m using single itunes Account.
For icloud, i use single account for 2 devices, the storage of icloud remain 5GB only. In actual, If there is separate icloud account, for 2 ios devices
i ll get 10GB Total , 5-5 for each ios device.
I need to know, How can i link 2 icloud accounts & have 10Gb of storage for backup on icloud. In this way, should i be able to use Photo stream, bookmarks, notes & etc for both devices, Same as it would work if i use Single icloud account.
As the devices are two, Why we are getting only 5Gb, which is free for only single device.

Actually, everyone missed one point, when a device is priced, the cost of icloud storage space for that device is also included in it that is why they are able to give you 5gb each for each user ID, in nutshell there is nothing free coming with apple device purchase, it is paid for.  What they are trying by giving only 5gb per user ID irrespective of the number of devices used is pure broadlight looting, they take money from you when you buy each device and give you nothing, This is a case of goods and services bought but not fully deliverd ie apple can be suied for discreminatory treatment towards it's users. I wonder why no one tried this yet in America where everyone sue everyone for petty things..... there is no one to take up this issue? . if tim got any love for the guys who shell out money for the devices his company makes, he should be implimenting this as priority before someone wake up from sleep and sue him.

  • Sharing  on all devices  with 2 iCloud acct,  we would like notes and such to show up on all devices (2 iPhones iMac macbook )

my wife and i have two different icloud accts and we would like to share info on all our apple devices.

If you want to keep separate iCloud accounts and still share some data, you can do this by adding each other's iCloud account to your devices as a second ("secondary") account.  Secondary accounts can sync mail, contacts, calendars, reminders and notes.
To add your wife's account as a secondary account on your iOS device, for example, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud and enter her ID and password.  Then, to sync her notes, turn Notes on in this secondary account.
To add her account to your Mac as a secondary account, go to System Preferences>Internet Accounts (or Mail, Contacts & Calendars)>iCloud.

  • Please Help Me With The iCloud Lock

Hello every body, I come from Viet Nam. 11month later I have bought a Iphone 5 from my friend. Last month I have restored my Iphone and my Iphone require me tologin ICloud account but I contact my friend and him say him buy from store but him don't remember the name of store him buy. My Iphone have warranty expires and can't check the store sell this iphone. I want to know the store have sold this iphone and ask them for iCloud account. please help me to solve the store. I'm student , please, I'm very sad .

The Store who originally sold the phone can't help you. The iCloud account was set up on the phone by your friend and he has evidently enabled 'Activation Lock', which is designed to make the phone useless if it's stolen.
If a second-hand iOS device has been 'Activation locked' then only the previous owner can unlock it, either by providing you with the account ID and password, or by removing it from his list of devices (as he should have done before selling it to you) - please see http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4515
If you are unable to get him to do this then I'm afraid you will not be able to use the device - there is no other way of unlocking it at all. Apple cannot unlock it for you unless you can provide both proof that you purchased it, and the original owner's receipt.

  • I have the same itunes account on two different devices with different information.  how can I merge the two?

I have an ipad which was synced with an old computer.   I have moved everything to the icloud from my new computer and iphone besides what is on the ipad.  The itunes account is the same, just different info on the two.  How do I merge them?

    Hello there, Shininglight66.
It sounds like you're asking how to get content on the iPad transferred down to your computer. The following Knowledge Base article should help out with that issue:

  • Multiple devices with seperate icloud accounts

Ok, I am going to try and explain this as best as possible.  On my itunes account between me and my fiancee we have 2 computers, 2 ipads and 2 iphones.  He set up an icloud account that is showing my email address as the itunes account but it is then linked to his email address and his devices.  I would like to set up my own icloud account that links only my email accounts and calendars (well right now I am only interested in getting my calendars to sync).  I am very confused on how to make this happen since he is linked to my email address (which is also my apple id)  Is there anyone out there that can give me some guidance on this???   Any help would be most appreciated.

If you don't want to share calendars, contacts, email, etc. then you both need different Apple IDs for iCloud (i.e. two different iCloud accounts).  This has no relation to iTunes accounts - you can both use the same one if you want to share your music, etc.  Since your boyfriend is using your email address (I assume this is your Apple ID), for icloud, then he should set up a new account for him to use.
