Are drivers same for old & new ISA GPIB cards

Hi,
I have some 5 YEAR old AT-GPIB ISA type cards (have copyright 1995 written on them). They are installed & work fine on NT. I don't have the installation disks for the original drivers. To get these cards working on win 2000, exactly which driver(s) do I need & where can I get them - there seems to be a few versions of similar GPIB drivers on the NI website, all with different installation guidelines.
Also, if I buy NEW ISA card (as a backup for the 5 year old cards) will any drivers installed for these old cards work with the new card? (I would hope to avoid the installion of new drivers if the card must be replaced in future). My limited reading on ni.com suggests that my old cards need driver NI-488.2 for Windows, revision 1.7, while I;m concerned that any new cards would demand install newer drivers.

Hi Martin,
Thanks for your post regarding which driver you should install to get your AT-GPIB card working on Windows 2000. The best driver for you to use would be NI-488.2 version 2.3. You can download this from the following link. This is the latest version of the driver but still supports the AT-GPIB card.

With regards to your query about new ISA cards, we no longer sell ISA cards and therefore if you were to buy a backup for your cards you would have to either go for PCI, PXI, USB or PCMCIA as your bus type. For the newest products you are correct that you would have to have the latest drivers installed, at the moment you would be OK as the latest GPIB driver still supports your existing cards, but sometime in the future we will probably bring out new cards that require another version of the driver, and that version may not support your existing cards.

It sounds like you have changed your Apple ID which you use with iTunes. If so there are several places you may need to update it as outlined in this article.

Firefox will download (or send to Word) .docx files but not .doc files and the application settings are the same for both.

I have tried resetting the application settings for Word 1997-2003 -- browsing for my Word 2007 program, instructing Firefox to save the file, or to ask me what to do. In all cases, Firefox simply opens a new blank tab. I have also tried resetting the setting and closing then reopening Firefox.

With firefox 4.0.1 I encountered this problem too. '.doc' files don't open the 'Ask Always' Popup asking either to open or save the fine.
This works fine for 'docx', 'ppt' or other file type.
I only encountered this problem since I upgraded to FF 4
My application setting for both Word extension type are the same.

IS RAM installation the same for all new iMacs?

I want to remove the 4GB RAM from my 20" iMac (early 2008) and switch it for 2GB RAM from new 3.06 24" iMac. Is the technique the same for each computer?

Go to Crucial <http://www.crucial.com/store/listproductline.aspx?cat=ram&mfr=apple&submit=go> and find which Macs you have on their listings. That will tell you what RAM is in each.
If both are 800 MHz SDRAM, then they might be of similar configurations and could be swapped.

I am curious if all mac Sata cards are the same for install?

I watched a couple of tutorials and saw one that was about an installation of a sata extension cable? Not sure what that would be used for given that a sata card is internal and does not need an extension? Of course, I know that it is used for something... Anyway, you have to attach it to something behind the fan. On other tutorials that involve just the sata card, there is nothing to connect behind the fan. Am I right? Are all sata cards pci cards? And finally are all sata cards installed the same way. I realize there is sata one, two, and three. Thank you.

It would be unfair to charge US$5 to install it, unless you are someone who routinely draws blood installing memory cards. As you saw in all the videos except the one with the cables, it's a cinch, and there are no internal cables on any of the others.
The solution with the internal cables (if you have the right version of Mac Pro) costs under US$20 total. There is no card involved, just the cables.

Typed search bar entries are the same for each tab. How can I keep new searches different in each tab without retyping?

How do I associate typed search bar entries specifically with the current tab only?
Currently, when I type an entry into the search bar it shows up in the search box of every tab open. If I switch to a different tab, there it is. I want to switch tabs and be able to have my last search in that tab still appear, not the typed entry of a prior tab appear. Because when I switch back to a different tab I want to be able to resume with that search without retyping it each time.

Use the about:home page or the Google website to do searches if you want separated search bars.<br />
The search bar on the Navigation Toolbar is part of the user interface and is the same in all tabs in a specific window.<br />
You can open separate windows if you want a different search bar on the Navigation Toolbar or use the location bar to search.

WOW! Just saw this post. This is really pushing me towards Roku or Andoid mini-PC... I did their survey and commented in there that I do realize technology is always changing/improving/etc... But the existing WD TV lives that I have could very easily be fixed with a proper firmware update. One that fixes the rather serious memory leak, particularly with Netflix. And I know it wouldn't be that hard to get a proper programmer to resolve how slow the device is to refresh it's library from an NAS. Just need someone to take the time. Really hope WD is reading this, as they are going to end up putting a really bad name behind a device that has some amazing potential! It just needs to be finished, rather that left in this "beta" stage it's in now.

Should I use nVidia or MSI Drivers for my new MSI VGA card?

Im just about to replace my old (non-MSI) Geforce 4600 TI, with a MSI FX 5700, and i'd like to know, should I use the MSI drivers on the MSI CD, or should I just use the latest nVidia driver from the nVidia web site?

Yes,but the drivers 6X.XX are optimized to the Geforce 6 series.I don´t think I will gain any increase in perfomance if I use the 61.77 driver,for example,instead of the 56.63.And MSI drivers allow DOT,which is safer way of overclocking

The N73 was long since discontinued. There will be no further firmware updates for that model.
If you are unhappy about that you can complain to nokia using the "contact us" link near the top or bottom of this page.

Are Drivers Available for Windows Vista Beta

I have a Audigy 2ZS platinum sound card and can not get it to work with Windows Vista Beta . Does anyone know where I can obtain drivers for this OS, or is there ant work around for this problem?

Thanks for your answer John. I reworded my search last night and found the same post. I emailed Creative Developer Network as was suggested at the bottom of the post and received the info from Creative today. Basically, XP drivers will work with Vista, however 3D and a few other items will not work with Vista until Creative comes out with beta drivers for Vista.
I would imagine that Creative will wait a bit before developing or releasing drivers as the Enterprise version of Vista is the only one near general release for next summer. At this time Microsoft still does not know what retail versions will be released, ie: Home, Pro, Media Edition...

I have 30" monitors here, so I want the standard preview size of every new catalog to be set to 2048 pixels.
I redundantly back up my catalogs via two different layers of hardware mirroring, so 'no' I don't want prompted once a week when I open one of various catalogs if I want to backup right then.
I have 50+ Terabytes of removable mirrored hard drive space, with individual project libraries that feed into 1.5TB master removable disk libraries, so I'd like to, by default, NEVER discard 1:1 previews, at least until Lightroom gets about 2000% faster in rendering them on the fly.
This is of hot topic for me since I just noticed Lightroom had been discarding 1:1 previews that I had spent large amounts of time creating just over a month ago as I've begun transitioning my archives from Aperture to LIghtroom. At any point, I'll maybe have access to only 1/15th of the actual DNG's in my catalog because they're offline, so keeping full sized previews of archived files is extremely important for my workflow.
