Are e-mails deleted from Verizon servers?

Hi,
Please help to settle an argument: If I have Microsoft Outlook set to download e-mails sent to my verizon.net account, and then to have the e-mails removed (at least from my view) on the Verizon website as they get downloaded to Outlook, are the e-mails still available anywhere to someone, outside of my Outlook folder? Specifically, do copies of the e-mails that I receive into Outlook still reside on a Verizon or anybody else's server?

In theory, email is "store and forward" until it reaches its destination and if you have an email client delete emails from the server after they have been downloaded then there should be no copies.  However in these post 9/11 and Patriot Act days, one can not be too sure.

  • Verizon mail deleted from server is not deleted from IPAD2 but works fine on Android

    I have both an Android phone and an IPAD.  This Android (RAZR) and my previous one (Droid2) worked fine.   Mail deleted from the server is also deleted from the phone.  Deleted from phone would delete from server.  Worked great.  On IPAD, when setting up the Verizon mail account, it defaults to POP and I can set it to delete from server when removed from IPAD.  However, mail deleted from the server is not deleted from the IPAD and so I have to remove it manually (a second time).  Why does it work on Android and not on IPAD?  Settings on Android appear to also be for POP.  Can anyone help with this?  It's too hard to believe that with so many people using IPADs, that this is such a problem.   I've read that Verizon isn't supporting IMAP, but how in the world is the Android phone working?

    Any mail service POP downloads a copy of the message to the phone. It would then need to be deleted from the device itself. What you are referring to where its deleted in both places is an IMAP type email service.

  • My deleted emails on iPhone 4s are not being deleted from server

    I'm facing a problem with my iPhone 4s when deleting emails. Unfortunately, they are not being deleted from the server. I tried setting the account in pop and imap with settings to delete from server and trash ticked. Still they keep on appearing in Outlook which is a double work to do. Please advise.

    I'm no expert by far, but have had issues with this before.
    IMAP should allow your iPhone to remove messages from the server.
    But have you made sure both the iPhone and Outlook are connecting via IMAP?
    If your iPhone does remove the messages from the server, but your computer is using POP, then the computer may download the email before it is removed form the server by your iPhone.
    This was my issue, that my computer had already downloaded the message, and POP does not check later if it is deleted.
    If you delete a message from Outlook does it disappear on the iPhone?
    Alternativly you may need to check the email server settings.
    Who is your email provider?
    They may be able to check if IMAP allows you to remove emails.

  • Mail delivery from Verizon is SLOW - are there issues?

    Sent an email yesterday morning at 8.07am Eastern which was delivered yesterday at 10.07pm Eastern.  According to the header info it appears the mail reached the verizon server at 7.07.16 Central and was delivered from Verizon to the recipient mail server at  21.07.37 central,  just over 14 hours.
    I guess this explains why some people have been complaining that I have been giving them late delivery on requests for info. 
    Was email down yesterday for some hours or were there even any reported outages, if so I never saw anything on it.

    This will only occur if your mail server is an IMAP server. What do you have?

  • Why are my playlists deleted from my iPhone?

    I've had this iPhone 4 for about a year now, and during most of this time it was synched with one single computer (I manually manage my musics and videos). Recently I had to change computers, and after that I started having some trouble with my playlists: all playlists created in my iPhone (on the go) are deleted as soon as I connect my iPhone into a computer and sync it with iTunes. Any ideas on why this is happening, or how i can fix it?

    I figured out why this was happening to me. I have an Iphone 5 & i sync notes to yahoo & periodically my notes get deleted without my knowledge. Here's the story, & I'll need help finding the actual feature on itunes cause I don't sync to itunes since I can't. Iphone 5's will not sync with my power mac. 
    - Periodically I noticed notes disappearing from my notes. Sometimes a couple notes, sometimes a lot of notes. This was frustrating. The only good part was that they all appeared on my mail account so they weren't gone forever. They were just being deleted from my notes app. I then noticed that this was only happening when I plugged my phone into my work computer to get power. Itunes would pop up & attempt to sync my phone. (I turned off auto sync in the Itunes options, but every now and then, some co worker turnes it back on. One time when I plugged my phone to the work computer & it started to sync. I stopped it, then checked my notes. It was in the process of wiping the notes. It started from the top & went down. I must of stopped the sync in time to save some of them. Now if I had to guess, there is probably a "delete synced notes" check box in your device page of itunes. That I cannot verify cause I do not want to sync my device to my work computer to find out.. Can anyone else verify this?

    I just got my Z30 a week ago , and hope i get help with this
    My problem is that i realized that some e-mails of my gmail account are not on web server but are on my phone , yet iam sure i didn't Delete any mails from my Z30 !
    I really need that my BB wouldnt download e-mails and delete them from server , i need them to be on gmail whenever i need to see them or from another phone or client .
    Can anyone help with that please ?

    It all depends on a great many things:
    How exactly is the GMail account integrated to the device? IMAP? POP? EAS?
    How exactly do you have your device configured for deleted item reconciliation? Delete from device only? Delete on both device and server?
    Is there any other client email software running (e.g., Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.) and interfacing with this GMail account? If so, are they perhaps the culprit with this deletion activity?
    Is this the case all the time? Just with some items? It would be quite unusual to have this behavior with only some items...typically, it's "all or nothing".
    Is this deletion from the server happening as the items are synchronizing to your device? Or, is it happening after some other interaction by you with the items?

    There is no setting that would act this way...if you delete it from your device, then it may or may not delete from the server -- it depends on the settings you have configured on your device. So the wording there is a little bit confusing...

    The only time that might happen is with POP...which, IMHO, is a "dead" technology...IMAP and EAS are so much better, and should always be used if available (and, for GMail, IMAP definitely is available, and EAS might be available depending on a number of other circumstances).

  • Cannot get email from Verizon servers thru Time Warner ISP

    I've had Verizon for many years until a move took us to California where it was not an option in our area.  I purchased the email addresses from Verizon 3 years ago.  Everything has worked fine until 2 weeks ago when my wife and myself cannot access our emails anymore using our home network.  If we log onto any other network it works great.  I've called both Time Warner and Verizon (which is a customer service story in itself)  twice a day for two weeks and have gotten nowhere.  Each blames the other but I still don't have email.  I've changed my router to get another ip address with the same result.  I've performed traceroutes which have ended with a verizon server but I can't get anyone at verizon to tell me if it is the email server or not.  I've tried whitelisting the ip address.  I've tried removing and reinstalling the verizon email account in my Macbook.  Nothing works!   Lots of threads of people with the same problem but I can't find a soulution.  PLEASE HELP!!

    Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
    Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. The title of your post is the link. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe". Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

  • Why are emails I deleted from another computer still showing up in my iPad inboxes.

    This is just plain annoying. Every time I pick up my iPad, I have to delete dozens of emails I already deleted from my mailboxes (I have multiple accounts ... yahoo gmail hotmail etc.) I looked for a setting that would fix this, but nothing I'm finding seems to resolve this particular issue. How can I sync my iPad email accounts so they are current, and don't require me to delete messages I already deleted from my phone or work laptop or home desktop?

    What you're describing occurs when your email provider uses POP rather than IMAP as your email protocol. Are you familiar with the difference? Most webmail providers use IMAP, which is set up for syncing across multiple devices, just the way you want. It sounds as if one or more of your providers is still using POP, the older standard.
    I personally like POP, since it lets me choose whether to deal with emails on my iPad or defer them until I'm next on my Mac, but it's a personal preference. Switch to IMAP-only email, and you should be all set.

  • Why are photos I deleted from Camera Roll re-appearing in CR when I put them into Albums from Photo Stream?

    Last night I deleted some photos from my Camera Roll (on iPhone 3GS) using cable connection to my PC. I then went to Photo Stream (the photos were, correctly, still in there) and put some of them in Albums in the Photos app. Some, but not all, have now re-appeared in Camera Roll - and, very unhelpfully, not in the order they were taken. I don't want these photos in Camera Roll but can vaguely accept and understand if the app HAS to copy the Photo Stream photos to Camera Roll if you put them in Albums and they are not in Camera Roll already but then why are there 2 photos (in different Albums) that this is not happening for?
    Any ideas/advice?

    I connected the iPhone to my PC with the USB sync cable (I usually sync by Wifi) and opened the iPhone as a Windows window. Went to the relevant DCIM folder for the Camera Roll and Deleted them there. I checked on the iPhone before and after sycning that they had been deleted from Camera Roll - and they had. I only have one Camera Roll album (no chance of another album being synced).
    They remained deleted from my Camera Roll until I put the copies of the photos held in the Photo Stream album (which I purposely did not delete them from) into an album. They then appeared in my Camera Roll again. Now, if I delete them from Camera Roll again (either direct from iPhone Photo app or via USB cable) they still reappear in my Camera Roll if I put them in an album from Photo Stream. I can see it happen before my eyes as each one appears after I have selected the photos from Photo Stream, used Share to put them in an album and then go to Camera Roll - they pop up one at a time.
    It would make sense to some extent except that there are two photos (in two separate albums to the ones that are reappearing) that have definitely been deleted from the Camera Roll, have been put in their respective albums from Photo Stream but are not reappearing in Camera Roll. And, as far as I know, I did exactly the same things with them. I don't want to have the photos back in my Camera Roll but I cannot find any explanation as to why one set is appearing back in Camera Roll and these two are not.

    If I go mysite and edit my profile and set a profile images and save the changes. Image is uploaded to profile Image library in the root of the mysite.
    I Edit my profile again and this time I remove the profile image and save the changes. Image is not getting deleted from the profile Image library.
    as per my understanding it should get deleted. My site clean job is running. user profile is active in AD.

    My first question would be is it a big deal if the picture doesnt get deleted from the libarary?  My understanding is that the profile picture field is a URL link, the first time you add a picture it will provision 3 copies of differing sizes to the
    library.  When you "remove" the picture, it just empties out the picture URL field.  Which is a nice hidden recovery if someone accidently deletes a profile photo they really wanted (Or if your company really locks down picutures so you only get
    a choice of a couple avatars instead of a personal photo).

    You would just modify it to delete image files whose name is not associated to an existing NTName in the UPS.

    How are multiple duplicate songs deleted from albums?  I've followed iTunes Help instructions but wasn't successful.  I command clicked the duplicate songs to select them, and pressed  "delete" on the keyboard, but nothing happened.  I also tried dragging the selections to tht Trash Bin to no avail. I'm sure that the album is not part of a Smart Playlist since i just impoted the songs.  Would appreciate any and all suggestions

  • Photos I delete in library are not being deleted from hard drive

    Help please. I have been trying to delete photos from the iPhoto library (Events and Photos) and emptying the iPhoto trash can. This is supposed to erase them from the hard drive. However, when I look in the hard drive in the Pictures folder, the photos I deleted are still there. Could someone tell me what might be wrong? Thanks!

    Let me see if I can understand this. The problem has to do with the place I was looking at. I was looking in the pictures folder in the hard drive. Now, the pictures inside the iPhoto library are the ones that are deleted from the hard drive, and the ones in the Pictures folder are not being touched at all. So I have two separate folders with pictures: the iPhoto library folder and the Pictures folder inside the hard drive.
    Since I'm going to be using iPhoto exclusively I might as well delete that other Pictures folder in the hard drive. If I delete the pictures in this folder, would that affect the pictures I have in the iPhoto Library? I'm thinking no since iPhoto has made copies of all those pictures. What do you think?

  • Help needed for photos deleted from Verizon Cloud

    After selecting muliple photos in Verizon Cloud, they were inadvertently deleted rather than downloaded to my PC.  These photos had been deleted from my phone after backed up to Verizon Cloud.  The Trash Can in my Verizon Could has contacts and music deleted over the past year, but not these recently deleted photos.  Can these photos deleted from my Verizon Cloud be restored to / undeleted from my Verizon Cloud?

    Unless the iPhone app and Windows 8 app that access your Verizon Cloud storage directly and delete things directly from the cloud, the website has a trash can feature.  This feature gives you a second chance to decide if you want to restore an item you deleted or permanently delete it from your cloud storage -- similar to restoring deleted files or emptying your recycle bin on your PC.  In other words:
    Verizon Cloud website Trash Can = PC Recycle Bin
    Once something is deleted using the apps or from the website trash can, you can assume it is gone.

Maybe you are looking for
