Are Enterprise Services required under DUET FP1, GW 2.0?

In an earlier project we did prior to DUET FP1, GW 2.0, we did not use Enterprise Services.  For the new project, I have a valid GW Data and Consumption Model generated under GW 2.0. When I try to follow the old instructions for the non-Enterprise Services install and generate the flat service under transaction SIMGH, the new screens have required fields for Enterprise Services Repository (ESR), so obviously it wants Enterprise Services information.  The old instructions (screens) did not have ESR fields. Is there a way around this or is Enterprise Services required for DUET FP1, GW 2.0?  Are there instructions on how to create a non-Enterprise Services instance?
BTW, I was following the "Build Duet Enterprise Applications with Gateway RFC or BOR Generator" document for creating my project.  I ran into a similar problem here where there was no Enterprise Services set up for the "Create BDC Model from GSDO Type" step.
Thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy,
Your thread title is a little misleading.
Enterprise Services are not required; you typically generate or handcraft own Gateway Services, connected to either RFC's of Web Services (plain BAPI or Enterprise Services; both possible).
But your question actually boils down to whether or not Enterprise Service Repository is required for designing Duet Enterprise Services. The answer to that is Yes: the ESR is also in FP1 still needed during design time, that is if you are using the Gateway Design Time tools (*). At runtime it is not required.
(*) In case of handcrafting approach, you could theoretically do without; that implies that you will somehow have to define the Service Interface, corresponding to the required SAP syntax and semantics. In practice this is NOT advisable, it is very error prone to try handcraft the Service Interface .wsdl...
Best regards, William.

    Hi Azeem,
The components of ESA could depend on the kind of solution you are trying to implement. However, if your question is regarding the tools that SAP provides to accomplish the ESA paradigm then they are the following:
    1) Enterprise Services Repository (ESR): In a typical SOA scenario, this is where you would define your Service Interfaces. A corresponding WSDL file will be generated accordingly. At this point there is no backend implementation for your Interface.
    2) Backend implementation: This Service interface in ESR can then be implemented in the backend system. Once implemented, SAP systems provide the option of directly publishing this implementation to a Services Registry.
    3) Services Registry: This is a part of the NW Composition Environment and registers all web services published onto it. It is used as a single source for services for an organisation and has capabilities to configure governance processes for these services based on their classifications.
    4) Composition Environment: This contains the tools one would need to consume the services from the Services Registry and create composite applications. It provides tools like WebDynpro, Guided Procedures, Visual Composer, CAF etc to accomplish the same.
    Hope this helps.

  • What are the services or commands contained under ASA-management-only policy ?

Here is the comment from @jaiharidas of MSFT if anyone's interested:
@Naziq, It is better to have multiple shares under single storage account and there is no perf implications. However, please ensure that your ingress/egress and request/sec is within
the limits of a single storage account (seemsdn.microsoft.com/.../dn249410.aspx)
and use multiple storage accounts if you need to scale beyond the limits.

  • Transfer Of Data from Sap to Oracle with the help of Enterprise Services.

    Hello,
We want to transfer data from Sap to Oracle using standard Enterprise Services. Some fields were not available in the existing standard Enterprise Services,so we have enhanced the existing Services by writing code inside BADI available with Enterprise Services.Rest of the fields we have mapped with the existing fields available in standard Enterprise Services. But,the Oracle people want to fetch all data from Sap without entering any input as a mandatory field in the Enterprise Services. The existing standard Enterprise Services require to enter any field as mandatory and are not accepting the range in input for multiple records.e.g.All enterprise Services related to Sales Orders are displaying only one sales Order. We have searched all Enterprise Services for Sales Order(related to reading of data),but not able to find service which would display mutiple records without entering any input.ECC_SALESORDER009QR is the only service which is displaying multiple records without entering any input, but the required fields are not available in this service. So,kindly suggest what we need to do further.
1.Should we go for customization of services completely,so that it would fulfil our requirement.
2.Are there  standard Enterprise Services exists which would we give us data in range(all records).
If they exists, please specify the names of Services for reading Purchase Order,Production Order,BOM etc.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Divya.

    Hi Vaibhav,
Let me tell you the objective in detail.
    Objective.
To develop a package solution which will work as a bridge between Oracle APS and SAP system so that customers using SAP will be able to use advantages of Oracle APS for their planning needs.
This will consist of following major components:
OA Templates is an Oracle utility to load data from any legacy system to Oracle APS using standard flat files.
Oracle has developed an Application Integration Architecture which is a standard architecture used for integration of Oracle products with other systems.
Enterprise services is an SAP utility to communicate with SAP.
AIA canonicals are standard canonicals developed by Oracle where we have to map data fields from destination system (Oracle APS) and source system (SAP)
Fusion middleware is being used to develop application interfaces following AIA standards.
    Tasks at stake:
Mapping of Oracle APS fields and SAP Enterprise Service fields to AIA canonicals
Technical work of developing middleware using Oracle Fusion
From Sap side,we have to map fields which we have received from Oracle with the help of Enterprise Services, rest  consumption of these services is done by Oracle guys. So,suggest is there enterprise services available which would give us multiple records .
    Thanks & Regards,
    Divya.

  • Which product for which Enterprise Services?

    Hi,
I try to test Enterprise Services with the Netweaver Sneak Preview Edition.
On the ES Workplace there are Enterprise Services documented mainly for four categories
    > mySAP ERP
    > mySAP Supply Chain Management
    > mySAP Supplier Relationship Management
    > mySAP Customer Relationship Management
Does this imply, that these four are the products, which are required to run the respective Enterprise Services?
Only two Enterprise Services are presented for the Business Solution Maps (Human Capital Management, and Supply Chain Managemnt only for Retail).
Is it in general possible to test Enterprise Services with the NetWeaver Sneak Preview Version? I cannot download the ES Addons, since a registration for the Service Market Place is required, here.
    Thank you for help,
    greetings, Rafael

Each SAP Product will deliver its set of Enterprise Services and act as Service Provider. Most of them will come from mySAP ERP as it's the mostly used product in the world.
You can consume Enterprise Service from Netweaver Sneak Preview (Java or Abap) as long as you have access to one mySAP ERP system which contains Enterprise Services.

  • IDocs or Enterprise Services in message exchange between systems

I am trying to get some qualitative and quantitative answers to the comparison of Enterprise Services or IDocs as a choice of interface technology when exchanging messages via PI with external systems.
The external systems are probably going to have their own message format, so this would concern the nature of the interfaces of the ERP system interfaces to the PI system.
I have seen one other posting in this forum related to this, but no definitive answer.
Does anybody have any system performance comparisons using the two technologies, such as message throughput / hour? Not easy to compare I know.
Does anybody have an opinion as to the suitability of Enterprise Services for such a task? Is the technology stable enough to be trusted yet?
When comparing status messages of IDocs, do the Enterprise Services have a similar way of easuly seeing the delivery status of the message using the Enterprise Service?
Would anybody or has anybody actually been brave enough to use Enterprise Services in this way yet?
Are Enterprise Services appropriate for mass messaging?
    All answers very much appreciated!
    Kind Regards,
    Tony.

    Hi Michal,
Thanks for the reply. I try to respond to your questions precisely:
if you want to compare IDocs to services then I assume
we're talking about async services right?
(and most services - just like bapis - are sync messages)
so you compare two different things
Yes, I know. What if the message scenario was asynchronous, and you chose not to handle the response message of the Enterprise Service? You could still do that, right? Then the problem becomes how do you trace the status of the Enterprise Service transaction.
IDocs have the advantage of a status message, and a good message monitoring system, but I am not sure if the visibility of errors seen with Enterprise Services if treated asynchronously would be as obvious. My knowledge of the runtime of the Enterprise Services is currently a bit limited.
The whole reason for me asking about the use of Enterprise Services is that there are so many now that could be used for message exchange, if they were suitable for the task.
Also, what about creating Asynchronous/Synchronous bridges in PI to handle the response message? Then the response is always traceable, correct? Even if the customer doesn't want the response message, the content could always be found in the PI message monitor.
Additionally, there is a transaction in ERP that wraps a BAPI into an IDoc (don't have a system in front of me at the moment and cannot recall the transaction, maybe OM69 or something similar). Now, that is taking a synchronous 'service' (the BAPI), and converting it into an asynchronous IDoc. So if this is such a bad idea, why do SAP provide the transaction? Therefore, by extension, wouldn't it be possible to do the same thing for Enterprise Services, at least from a philosophical point of view? I mean, why would SAP imply you could do this for one kind of synchronous service (the BAPIs) but not others (the Enterprise Services)?
if you're talking about migrations etc I don't believe services
will be used with LSMW but BAPIs are on the other hand
No, I was talking about high volume message scenarios, sorry for the ambiguity. I guess if the performance of Enterprise Services is comparible to that of well written BAPIs, the answer is 'yes', correct?
    Kind Regards,
    Tony.

  • Extending Enterprise Service without ESR

    Hi all,
I have read from the guides that extending enterprise services require the usage of a Enterprise Service Repository.
However we have a standalone ABAP system and we would like to enhance the enterprise service with some structures. Is this possible to enhance it without the use of connecting to the ESR?
Or how this should be done in standard??
    thank you.

To extend standard ES you need ESR (because you need WDSL to make server proxy).

  • Enterprise services for business travel (trip) management

    Hi experts.
Do you know if there are enterprise services for business travel management in SAP ECC? I need ES for create, change and query business travel calculations (TRIP transaction).

    Hi,
Are you looking for any ES bundle related to travel management. If yes, please  have a look at the following links.
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ESpackages/Travel+Management

    QyNkREOUIwMjQ5RjE5NTE1MDAxQTY0RDNGNDYy
There would be some service interfaces for which wsdl will be provided, you need to select which services you want and use them.Basically you will be importing the related component into the ESR.You need to download the content from Service market place ->download->SAP installation or upgrades->search by appl componet ->xi content
Please let us know if you are looking for similar answer, if yes i can help you more in this.

  • What are all Modules come under sales, service and marketing in Oracle CRM?

    Hi All,
This is Hemanth writing in. I'm new to oracle CRM implementation in client side through Oracle Business Accelerator Methodology . I want to map sales ,service, marketing Modules.
Our client Company is manufacturing crane, tower crane, cutting bending machine.
what are all Modules come under sales, service and marketing ?
In Which module we can map the Trade management and logistics ?
    Thanks in Advance
    Hemanth.C

    hi prakesh,
firstly, cic winclient is an older version and obsolete so its better to implement the new crm version.
secondly, in any case if you want to implement, then your 3rd party raw data has to be mapped with the SAP system which could be a problem. Middleware could be a lot of effort. Rest all depends on how much customization you need for your business requirement in cic and sales. In case you are implementing standard functionality mostly then no major complications are expected otherwise lot of development effort may be required.

What are the functional differences between the iPhone and the iPod Touch, barring of course the differences in service requirements.

For one, their form factors are slightly different as the iPhone has a bit more squarish body whereas the iPod Touch has a tapered back to it.
The iPhone also has much better front and rear cameras. Exact details as to the difference in megapixels depends on whether or not you talking about the iPhone 4 or 4S.  If you would like to get more details, you can always view
each models specs on Apple's online store.

  • After upgrade from SP2010 Foundation to Enterprise, services/features are missing

    Hi
I recently upgraded the SharePoint 2010 Foundation, that was installed with TFS 2012, to Enterprise. The upgrade went through.  The Products and Configuration wizard ran through to 100% without errors, however there are no Enterprise services available
on the Services on server page.
The main ones that I'm missing (that I really wanted to use) are:
    Secure Store
    Managed Metadata
    Web analytics
    SharePoint Server Search
    Excel Services
These ones are there (these are non foundation as far as I'm aware)
    PerformancePoint services
User Profile and User Profiles Sync
    Business Data Connectivity
Also the service applications for the missing services are also missing, where as the services applications for the present services are available to be provisioned.
I've tried re-running the following commands:
    Psconfig -cmd helpcollections
    Psconfig -cmd services -install
    Psconfig -cmd installfeatures
    Psconfig -cmd applicationcontent -install
I've also run that Enable upgraded features option in Central Admin that goes through the web apps/Site collections and sites and enables all the enterprise features. That did nothing.
    Any ideas?

    Run:
    Install-SPService
That will install all services on the farm.

    Dear All
I want to access the Enterprise Service that are available at SDN and for that I created two proxies in Visual Admin.
I am trying to call those services in my Visual Composer. I am able to see the services in the Group.
But not able to see the required Enterprise Service.
When I click the + sign nothing comes under that group.
    I am using VC 7.0
    Can any body help me.
    Thanks

    Hello Everybody
The ES available at SDN cannot be accessed outside SAP network because if we see the XML of the service available, the URLs within the XML are pointing to the internal hostname iwdf1030.dmzwdf.sap.corp of the system and not to the external hostname erp.esworkplace.sap.com. Unfortunately the internal hostname is not accessible or known to the internet and that is why we are not able to connect and retrieve the interface definition.
May be it will take some time to resolve this issuse, till then have a great time.
