Are iCloud and Leopard compatible?

I just got and iPad and want to use iCloud on my MacBook, which is running Leopard 10.5.8.  I'd rather not upgrade to Lion due to issues I've been reading about.  Does anyone know if/how I can use iCloud while running this system OS?
Thanks

No, you need Lion.

  • Are iCloud and apple id and password the same

I keep getting a request for my icloud password which was assigned to an old id.  I don't remember the password so I click on forgot password after which it tells me to reset my apple id password which I do.  I can't find out where to see my icloud profile to then change the icloud id.  Where is it? Should the cloud and applie profiles be the same?

    Hello sukoenig,
Thank you for your question. It sounds like you are wanting to know if your Apple ID and iCloud have the same password. Yes, and in fact that is recommended according to this article you can have more than 1 Apple ID if you choose. Take a loot at this  information about how your Apple ID works:
Using your Apple ID for Apple services
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4895
An Apple ID is the email address you use as a login for just about everything you do with Apple, including using iCloud to store your content, buying songs from the iTunes Store, and downloading apps from the App Store.
When you set up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you can use the same Apple ID for iCloud services and purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store. You can also use one Apple ID for iCloud services and another Apple ID for store purchases (including iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match). You will get all the benefits of iCloud whether you use the same Apple ID for iCloud and store purchases, or different IDs for each.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Digital Camcorders - What Kinds Are Good AND Mac Compatible???

Well, the subject kinda says it but so what are they? Im looking for good digital camcorders that have good video quality and that are Mac/iMovie compatible... My price range is pretty much anything $275 and under.

In that price range, you are limiting yourself to only a few, and video quality will be OK, but not great.
If the camera has a firewire jack on it, you should be able to connect it to your mac and capture to iMovie.
MiniDV tape cameras are the standard, but some of the newer hard drive/DVD cameras (AVCHD format) will work with the newest version of iMovie.
What's definitely necessary is the firewire jack. Cameras in your price range from Sony, Panasonic, JVC, etc. should work.

  • DVDSP 4.0.3 and Leopard - compatible?

    Hello,
Is anybody successfully using DVD Studio Pro 4.0.3 with MacOS X 10.5 Leopard? I find I'm unable to burn DVDs with it (which is more-or-less the point of a DVD authoring package...)
As soon as the build process is started, the "Encoding Assets..." window comes up, but it never progresses beyond 0%. The application remains responsive and I can cancel the build if I wanted to, but I've left it running overnight without seeing any progress in the build. It is not using any significant amount of cpu time while doing this.
Does anybody have different experience with this version?
I installed Leopard with the Archive & Install option. I have since reinstalled DVD Studio Pro (and updating to the most recent Software Update version available to me, that is, 4.0.3) but the effects were identical. I've tried creating a new "simplest possible" project, but again, it gets stuck in the same way.
Is there any way that I can update to a more recent point release (4.1, 4.2) without having to purchase the entire Final Cut Studio bundle?
    Thanks for any info.
    Andrew

We need a fix for this. I really need some sort of update in the next two weeks. PLEASE APPLE. i run a home-based business that requires this software almost daily (DVDSP4). I have three wedding DVDs that need to be out the door by next Wed... and i really can't afford to spend $1200 on software right now, while you guys in the software dept. could make a small patch for DVDSP 4.0.3 that would replace a .framework or something.... (i might have to pull out ye old G4 500MHz DP that you no longer support either with Leopard to finish these projects...)

  • Are iMovie6 and iDVD5 compatible?

I have iLife '05 running on a G4 with dual processor 450s. Bought iLife '06, but just read 2 things that give me pause.
1 - iDVD6 requires a 733 mhz processor. Might my dual 450s make up for the slower speed? Do I dare?
2 - My guess is no. Especially since I read a bunch of horror stories about iDVD6 causing a lot of problems.
So my real question is... can I use iMovie6 with iDVD5? Or is that a recipe for disaster? I would rather do without the upgrade that spend days troubleshooting.
    G4 Dual 450   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Well I am not sure if it will work or not but I have not had issue with iDVD 6 either.
I would not use the export to DVD button but a "Full Quality" export then drag the exported file to iDVD. I am sure that would work.

UUpdate the new iphone to iOS 8.3 before you try to restore the backup.

  • I received an alert stating that my iCloud and I message accounts are registered on a previously deactivated computer, which is now registered to another person.  Can I deactivate it remotely?

I received an alert stating that my iCloud and I message accounts are registered on a previously deactivated computer, which is now registered to another person.  Can I deactivate it remotely? The computer is no longer in my possession.

    Hi,
If you have the means to prove the computer was yours and that you sold or gave it away then you could try starting here
    http://www.apple.com/uk/support/itunes/contact/
You can access this page for a Local to you version from iTunes when it is logged into the Store and going to the bottom of the page and clicking Support.
In the page that appears in your Browser go to the bottom of the menu and click Contact Support.
In the page linked above (or your local version) click the iTunes Store Contact point on the right hand pane.
After than follow the options for Managing your Account until you are offered an email link.
    Email them the info.

  • AI have an iPad and iPhone but am stuck with Tiger and Leopard. Will I stir be able to get my email on my PowerBook if I after I upgrade to iCloud?  I don't have the cash to upgrade the mac right now.

I have an iPad and iPhone but am stuck with Tiger and Leopard on my old powerbook G4.  Will I still be able to get my email on my PowerBook after I upgrade to iCloud?  I don't have the cash to upgrade the mac right now.  Just wondering what my email options are.  Thank You.

You will be able to get your mail on the PowerBook. The calendars (iCal) will not sync; any events added to iPad and/or iPhone will not sync with the Mac but will sync with each other (that is: the mobile devices which are on iCloud). My  MacBook Pro (Lion) and iPad2 (iOS5) sync fine; I still get my Mail on iBook G4, MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard) and iMac (Snow Leopard).

  • IPhoto 08 and Leopard Firewall not compatible

Since I turned on the Leopard Firewall in the mode where it automatically add applications that need access iPhoto has been asking for permission to accept incoming Internet connections.
Every time it does this I say 'Allow' and enter the Admin password, but it does not seem to take as this comes up every time I start iPhoto.
iPhoto is listed in the Firewall with 'Allow incoming connections', but it still asks every time.
Clearly a bug that needs sorting out.

    Ian:
I've set my firewall to the 3rd option, "Set access for specific services and application". iPhoto is not listed in the list, only some applications that I want to block incoming connections for. No problems with that setup.
    Happy Holidays
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Can't forward emails; contacts are in icloud and won't come up when I push cc

I can't forward email in Outlook. I used to just forward to myself then use cc to forward to other contacts that would come up when I pushed cc. Now everything has been moved to icloud and it won't come up to cc anyone. My iphone broke so they sent me a refurbished on and since I since I backed up my old phone and installed the sim card into the new one I have had nothing but issues...this being the worst. Another issue is that since then all the songs I had on my old phone are not there anymore. The nearest Apple store is 250 miles from me. Not sure Apple and icloud is the way to go. Does anyone know what is going on with this???

Outlook 2013 isn't supported at this time.  Outlook 2007 and 2010 are.  Microsoft has not yet decided to make 2013 compatible.

  • What are some good Plugin packages for Logic - must be Leopard Compatible

I'm new to Logic, heck, Mac in general. On my PeeCee I used Nuendo v.1 and had the Waves Diamond Bundle. I'm looking for something with comparable abilities that's Leopard compatible. Also, I really can't afford the Waves stuff at this point, price is a HUGE consideration for me.
I'm seriously considering going to Logic Studio (use Express right now) to gain the multitude of instruments and Plugins. In your experience, are the plugins included in Logic Studio good enough that I'd get what I need using them and not have to find another package (for the time being at least)?
Thanks in advance for your help!

There aren't any classes in the API to do that, but there are 3rd party libraries that can do that. Just google.

  • HT204150 iphone4s contacts wont back up to icloud my settings are on and in icloud i cant open photos?

iphone4s contacts wont back up to icloud and  my settings are on and also when in icloud i cant open photos?

Did you ever verify the primary email address associated with her iCloud ID?  Apple should have sent a verification email like the one below to the email address that was used to set up the iCloud account.  You need to click the Verify Now link in the email to verify the address.
Make sure you are check the email address you used to set up your iCloud account.  Also make sure you check the spam/junk folder as well as the inbox.  If it isn't there, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right click Resend under your Primary Email Address to resend the verification email.

  • I've just bought an iPhone 5S in the UK, seems like a big mistake. I have turned off sync to icloud from the phone for both my contacts and calendar, as told on itunes. However, iTunes still says they are synced from iCloud and wont sync to PC, Fix ?

I've just bought an iPhone 5S in the UK, seems like a big mistake, but luckily by law we can return goods, which is exactly what is going to happen if I cant get this to work. This is my business phone, not having it functional can cost me money.
I have turned off sync to icloud from the phone for both my contacts and calendar, as told on itunes. However, iTunes still says they are synced from iCloud and wont sync to my PC, why and how do I fix it so that it doesnt go to iCloud for anything ?
The phone currently has no contacts or calendar information installed.
PC is HP Probook 4730s running Windows 7, Professional, version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601.

I'm happy you figured it out and just try to keep in mind that not everyone you talk to at support will give the same advice or have the same knowledge. Just like those who contribute to these forums. Sometimes Google is your best friend.
I agree that Apple could probably make it easier, but as of yet prefer security over freedom. (sound famaliar?)
