Are iCould Drive files also stored locally on computer?

Are the files in your iCloud Drive folder also stored on your computer? For example, if internet access goes down, will I still have access to the folder, and open / edit files in the folder?

yes

  • Where are the .folio-files on a local desktop?

    Hi,
I've created a publication in InDesign CS5.5 and built this in the folio builder to a complete local folio. Where are the .folio-files, I've composed, on my Mac? If I create an ebook, I'll save the document as an ePub-file and find this in the folder. But if I create an emagazine in InDesign, I guess there is a .folio-file. I can't find it. Could someone help?
    Yours sincerly,
    florian / eskalade werbeagentur

    Hi Florian,
A folio is not something that you would consider as a normal file that you create, transmit to some other place and read it (comparable to an ePub). The folio's are stored within the 'cloud' (on Adobe managed servers). To preview your content, you can look at the folio on devices (iPad, Kindle Fire, android) with the Adobe Content Viewer. To create a 'branded viewer' (application) you can use DPS Single Edition or a subscription to DPS Professional / Enterprise. These services are meant for the distribution of your content.

  • Where are an apps file permissions stored?

I have a LOB app that needs to access an internal network update servers Windows Share. However for that to work, the user has to first give permission via the file picker to that folder. That is inconvenient in a LOB scenario. Therefore I would like to
know if there is a way to mark certain folders accessible for an app via Group Policy or Regsistry key? Where are the apps permissions saved (and is the format open?) and could these permissions be modified by a plain old Win32 desktop app (running on an admin
    account).

    Hi Phil,
The Publishing Windows Store apps forum is for help with publishing your app to the Windows Store.
For help with enterprise configuration and deployment please post in the Windows 8.1 IT Pro forums on TechNet. For help with desktop development questions please post in the Windows Desktop Development forums.
Windows Store apps use the standard Windows security system with permissions are controlled by ACLs on the file objects. Breaking the app out of its app container by granting it access to new locations is not recommended or supported and may reduce
    the security of the system.
The right way for an enterprise app to break out of the app container is to write a
Brokered Windows Runtime Components for side-loaded Windows Store apps . This will allow the Windows Runtime app to call a component outside of its app container which can then call desktop API on the Runtime app's behalf.
Your app could hand the data files to the brokered Windows Runtime Component which could then drop it on the share. This wouldn't require either user interaction or reducing the security on the share.

  • TS1363 How do I remove some photos fro my Iphone that went on there accidentally when I got it ? They are just pic files that were on my computer and I cannot delete them just from my phone

Hello when I got my Iphone 4s and plugged it into my laptop and it started to sync I didn't realize that it also put Photo Folders with many pics on my phone and I want to remove them but can't do it like I can with the pics I have taken with my phone. I want these other Photo Files off my phone as I know they take up room

You remove them the same way you put them there.  The sync process.
Deselect them in itunes and sync.

  • Why/how is my iPhoto library larger than the hard drive it is stored on?

I store my iPhoto library on a 2TB external hard drive. The library file itself claims to be 2.65TB and created 12 years before I purchased the computer (see pic). I have confirmed this on other computers.
I know my library to actually be closer to 680GB as I've been using it for a long time. When I click 'get info' on the drive itself, it shows it is around 945GB full which makes sense as there are other files also stored there.
Could someone please explain how a 2TB drive can hold a 2.65TB file? Then, could someone help me restore it back to its actual size? I would like to back up my library but can't easily move such a massive file. I am also worried about its stability as I presume something is corrupt in there.
    Thanks in advance.
p.s. When you look at the image below, you may notice other libraries (the one in question is highlighted). I have had MANY troubles with crashing libraries and gone through MANY rebuilds to get my library to where it is now; complete and working but oddly sized (and not appropriately backed up!). If I could easily and safely migrate all my photos, their originals, their edits, the places and faces etc to another program I would definitely consider it because iPhoto and Aperture are simply not behaving as I'd like them to.

I am unsure if it has been formatted MacOS but it is a My Passport for Mac so I imagine it was initially set up correctly - especially as it has worked well until now.
You can check that by selecting your external drive in the Finder and using the command "File Get Info ⌘I " on the drive. The General section of the info panel will show you the File System.
I have never seen that symbol in in iPhoto. In Aperture it is marking photos that have been downloaded from Photo Stream or Flickr or Facebook.  Are you syncing your library with any of these services?

  • Software Update - Files Stored locally

Hi Peeps. I am now down to 20gb on my 100gb MacBook Pro HD. I need to find some more space! I have gone through and removed all the old iPhone and iPod firmware updates I no longer need and lots of the additional files from Applications I no longer use.
Here is my question - do the software updates (Downloaded via the automated Software Update App) get stored locally on my drive? If so where are they and is it safe to bin them? I really need to free up some space.
I know this is an Apple forum but are there another Apps that leave large lingering files behind following an update. (MS Office 08, Quark 7.31, CS3, Final Cut Xpress, iLife 08 etc)?
    Look forward to your help

Nothing you download through Software Update should leave any installers on your Mac. If you download outside of Software Installer, it's up to you to eject and delete the .dmg file. If you have any, you would see them in the sidebar of Finder or in your Downloads folder.
Have you gone to /Library/Printers and deleted all but print driver(s) you use? That will free up some space. Since your data is not about to begin shrinking, I also strongly suggest you get another disk for backup
EDIT: What Size can help you find what's hogging your disk space.

  • I am unable to access intranet on my MacBook Pro 13" with OS X mavericks. Is it possible to use files on the Local Area Network?

I am unable to access intranet on my MacBook Pro 13" with OS X mavericks. Is it possible to use files on the Local Area Network? I use the files on the Local Area Network on my windows computer by typing in the I.P address in the library. Kindly guide me how i can use these files stored over the Local Area Network.

I disabled GateKeeper's automatic blocking of unrecognised developers, and so I was able to install the driver.
The Mobile Connect program is now installed, but the computer still does not recognise the modem.
I also borrowed a USB hub from a friend and it didn't make a difference.

  • I want to display a HTML file that is stored locally on my machine.

    Hello,
I am having a problem with my paths (I believe). I have created a JEditorPane that reads in a HTLM page. If the page is form the web it works fine:
page_jep.setPage("http://www.google.com");However I want to display a HTML file that is stored locally on my machine.
I have tried the following but cant get it to find the stored page:
    page_jep.setPage("file:///index.htm");
java.io.FileNotFoundException: \index.htm (The system cannot find the file specified)I have tried putting the index file in both the root directory ( C ) and also the same place as where the class files are.
Any help will be gratefully received,
    Harold Clements

    Nope, I have tried it:
    page_jep.setPage("file://c:\\index.htm");Gives me:

  • When I attempt to open iphoto, I get the loading icon in the working space/picture area.  If I try to reinstall ilife '11, will I lose any pictures?  Where, on the hard drive, are all my pictures actually stored?

When I attempt to open iphoto, I get the loading icon in the working space/picture area.  If I try to reinstall ilife '11, will I lose any pictures?  Where, on the hard drive, are all my pictures actually stored?

You won't lose anything because you have a back up, right?
    Most Simple Back Up
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
    Slightly more complex:
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

    TD

  • Where exactly are my picture files on my hard drive?

I have iPhoto 4.0.3 and I also have Photoshop CS. All of my snapshot photos I've imported and stored in iPhoto, my serious pictures of done all through Photoshop.
When I go through Photoshop File, Browse, I can't figure out where the photos in iPhoto are stored on my hard drive. I go through My Computer but I don't see the Pictures folder anywhere. Additionally, when I just try to find the pictures through Finder, I go to Pictures, iPhoto Libray, and the year, the month, and the day and I don't see any photos. I see a "data" file but no list of jpegs or anything.
I absolutely don't know where any of this stuff is and I'm having such trouble finding anything that's been lost in the abyss of iPhoto! Can anyone please clarify? Thanks!

    Hope,
You do not want to rummage around in the iPhoto Library Folder - the database - in the Pictures Folder.
    iPhoto Terms
    iPhoto
The application is designed to do EVERYTHING working in the application with the options available in the window and menus. Basically, once a photo has been imported into iPhoto (file copied to the database) that file is available only through the application. To use it some place else (that is not an iPhoto option) - export, or drag it from the window.
    Photo Library
Note: that is "Photo Library", not "iPhoto Library". This is the option you see in the source window to display all the photos imported into iPhoto.
    iPhoto Library (Folder)
To avoid grief please read this carefully!. The iPhoto Library is a folder that iPhoto creates and by default puts in your user Pictures Folder. This folder is the database where iPhoto actually stores everything you have done in the application. iPhoto keeps this folder in a special way, with special files, folders and subfolders.
Leave this folder alone. Don't add, delete or change anything in this folder. If you do - the database can collapse like a house of cards. Don't browse through it with other applications, like email, one slip can mean disaster.
iPhoto can work with several databases - iPhoto Library folders - but can only open and work with one at a time. These folders can be renamed and stored anywhere - as long as iPhoto knows the name and location - and is directed to open with the folder you select. If you want to move or backup the iPhoto Library folder - you must work with the ENTIRE folder. Don't try to move or backup pieces of the folder.
Some backup programs may actually split the archive so that it can be stored on CD's or DVD's ( depending on the room needed). If the backup program can restore the ENTIRE iPhoto Library to its original condition - this may work. But please test the backup and restore before you really need it.

  • Can somebody can tell me is CC for team can support to save the files in the local area without using the cloud ?

Can somebody can tell me is CC for team can support to save the files in the local area without using the cloud ?

The desktop applications are still installed on your computer, and the files are also saved on your computer.
Optionally you can upload files with a browser to https://creative.adobe.com/files, or sync up files using the file sync that is part of the Creative Cloud desktop application. The online file storage is private to you, no one else can see it your files.
If you do want to share your files there are two options:
You can Collaborate, which is sharing a folder with another Adobe ID. Only the person you collaborate with can see the folder.
You can use Send Link to send a publicly accessible url to a file or folder.

  • Where are the calander files stored

I need to restore one or more Thunderbird calender files from my Windows back up. When in Thunderbird, click on properties for any calendar it states the location as
    moz-storage-calendar://
This tells me nothing. Exactly where IS moz-storage-calendar://
I have no idea where that is nor what the file names are. Where on earth are these calendar files located? I can not find them.

It does not matter: but Windows 7 does an automatic backup (back up and restore) and the backups are stored on an external hard drive. So that back up has the calender files since Thunderbird is part of the backup. All I need to know is where Thunderbird stores the calendar files. Both the backup and Thunderbird will store the calendar files in the same path name.

  • Why are my render files in my boot drive/root directory?

I have configured FCP to use an external drive for my Scratch Disk to render Video Capture, Audio Capture, Video Render and Audio Render as well as the Waveform Cache, Thumbnail Cache and Autosave Vault. Plenty of room on it and for the most part, I see a lot of render files on it, just like it should do.
However, if I leave FCP running for a while, it will start to auto-render again and does so placing tons of huge files on my local boot drive right on the root directory under a folder called "Render Files". It ends up filling up my boot drive every time and need to delete them.
I have searched everywhere to find where to configure this to move it to my scratch drive, but no joy.
How do I get FPC to render these files on a non-boot drive scratch disk?
    Thanks.

That's possible that's it going to sleep. But I don't think so. The problem happens when I let the editor sit too long without doing anything in it (get up for a cup of coffee, using another application to generate some text effects, etc). Then its starts rendering on its own and does so only with the local boot drive/root directory.
When it comes back, the "green line" (Preview Render) is gone and the lines are replaced with dark blue, which I think indicates the sequence was rendered in the highest possible res/codec I have selected. That's fine, but why does it insist on using the local drive when I have another specified?
