Are in-app purchases also monitored using Family Share?

If I set up Family Share, I know that it will allow me to approve (or disapprove) of app purchases that my son wants to make. My question is, will IN-app purchases also require my permission/approval? Thats what I'm looking for
My son has been going crazy with in-app purchases and I'm looking for a way to control and oversee what he spends.

Not all apps are available as shared purchases.  It is up to the developer.  In App purchases are NOT sharable.  Neither are subscriptions.

There are a few things that you can't share:
Songs added to iTunes Match from outside the iTunes Store
    In-App Purchases
Items that are no longer available on the iTunes Store
    Items that were hidden
    Apps that aren't shareable

  • In-app purchases in combination with family sharing

How about in-app purchases in combination with family sharing? Are these items being shared too?

    Hello there Thezahir,
No, in-app purchases are not shared between members of Family Sharing according to this article:

when you double tap the home button to go back to your other apps are those apps always running and using cellular data even if I am not currently using them?  I thought it froze them and didn't use data other that a select few apps like Facebook, email, etc.  Also I always select no when I download an app and it wants me to have those push notifications.  Because that would mean that I would have to delete my apps after everytime I just them from that bar and that would be very annoying and just stupid.  Or maybe apps do use data and it's just a big scheme to make everyone go over on their data plans.

  • HT5188 Can in-app purchases be made using the volume purchase program?

Can in-app purchases be made using the volume purchase program? I'm an authorized facilitator and able to redeem using VPP in iTunes but want several in-app purchases that are not available outside of the app. Is this possible for the program manager to allow?

    Found an answer!
At http://www.apple.com/education/volume-purchase-program/faq.html, I found the following:
Are all apps in the App Store eligible to be purchased in the Volume Purchase Program Education Store?
All paid iOS apps are available through the Volume Purchase Program. This does not include in-app purchases.

  • HT1933 In the App Store, when you go into top charts then free column there are free apps but also payed ones

In the App Store, when you go into top charts then free column there are free apps but also payed ones

Which apps are you referring to ? If Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iPhoto and iMovie then they are free to people who have activated a device since 1st September 2013, and have iOS 7 installed on the device.

  • Using Family Share or Home Share with Windows 8? If so, what is my best option and how do I set it up??

I would like to use either Family Share or home share. If I use a pc/laptop with Windows 8, will I be able to use these programs, or do I have to use an Apple device initially? I have an iTunes acct, that I share w/my daughter. However, I would like for us, to each have our own account, and yet share music when we want to.So,am I better off using Family Share or Home Share? We have a lot of music that we have bought together over the years, and I don't want either of us to lose out on those purchases. Yet, I also don't necessarily want all of the music that she  buys, and she doesn't want all the music that I buy. If either of these are an option, how do I go about setting it up? Thanks for the help!

    What's wrong?

I logged out of itunes account on my wife's phone and logged back in and it now is letting me download.  Issue resolved.

Hi I am new to in game purchases and just wondered how they were billed? As in is the Monet taken immediately or later. Also does the purchases show up in your iTunes account purchase history? Thanks in advance.

  • Does everyone need to use the same Apple ID/password for iTunes & App Store in iOS 8 Family share?

I just set up Family share on my 5S and my wife's 5, both running iOS 8. I am the organizer.
In order for my wife's purchases to be charged to my CC (per Family Share setup), does she need to be signed in under my Apple ID and password under Settings -> iTunes & App Store? Or, can she use her Apple ID (that she used with her previous App Store purchases)? Additionally, if she makes purchases in iTunes or the App Store under my Apple ID, does she need to enter my password?
If she's logged into "iTunes & App Store" on her phone, using her Apple ID, will it work?

Well thanx to your answer I sure did just sign out of my old id, & now it's working! Thanx a lot IIIaass, you saved me from having to deal with anymore frustration! Thanx IIIaass!

  • Where are in-app purchases charged to?

I was wondering if I bought an in-app purchase would it be billed to my phone bill or my itunes credits?

In-app purchases are billed to the same payment method as any other iTunes Store purchase you make. They will not appear on your phone bill (not unless the app developer is doing something strange and probably not allowed by the iTunes Store).
    Regards.

  • Why are in-app purchases failing?

Hello. I just got an iPhone 5 as an upgrade on my Sprint account, and when I try and do an in-app purchase in HDPlayer (for some codecs for videos to play properly) it tells me that it cannot proceed and that I should go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww to contact support. Why is this happening?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Can you use family share without sharing payment?

My wife and I purchase items separately with our individual apple ID's. Is there a way that we can both use family sharing but not use my payment info? We have no kids but have separate spending accounts that we like to keep separate.
    Thanks.
    -Brian

There are some arrangements which would benefit from sharing whilst two family members continuing to have a separate payment option. I'm trying to search for that solution. I would like to share purchases with my wife that she is interested in and visa versa but I only want to pay for things that I'm interested in. If there is some album that I really like and she doesn't then we want it set up that I could pay for that alone rather than through a shared family account. Even with that we would still appreciate sharing each others apps and music when it's something we would like to have on our devices and shared mac.
When you've switched to family sharing and family members choose to pay with a second payment method other than the shared credit account?

  • Can't see own purchase or others' purchases on iPhone with Family Share enabled unless iCloud is off. Why?

We have family sharing enabled on 2 iPads and 3 iPhones. It works in iTunes, but in App Store, our daughter can't even see her own purchases. She gets the message "this iTunes account is set up to use family sharing with a different iTunes account than ___________." If we turn iCloud off then she is able to see the purchases again. We've tried logging out, rebooting, logging in, etc. several times. Any ideas?

    Update...I now notice:
    Going to: App Store>Updates>Purchases:
    1)  The message “This iTunes account is set up to use family sharing with a different iCloud account other than <her iCloud ID>...”  Is now showing up on my iPhone and can no longer see any of my purchases or hers.
    2) The same message above is now showing on my iPad mini (it didn’t before).  But, I can still see both hers and my purchases on my iPad mini.
    3) The message "This iTunes account is set up to use family sharing with a different iCloud account other than <my iCloud ID>…” still showing on her iPhone and she still can’t see her or my purchases.
iTunes Family Sharing still works fine.
Note: If I Go to Settings>iTunes & App Store then log out of my Apple ID, then go to App Store>Updates>Purchases and log into my Apple ID from there, My purchases show up (not hers). I then toggle between Updates and Purchases and the message pops up and unable to see any purchases, again.  Same thing happens when I do it to her phone except her purchases show up (not mine).
I emailed this update to Apple...waiting for a reply.
