Are iPads in US unlocked and able to use abroad?

Hi guys,
I'm really looking forward to buy an iPad Air which will be released on the 1st of November in the US. Apple stated that :
"iPad Air with Wi-Fi + Cellular can roam worldwide on GSM/UMTS networks. In countries without compatible LTE networks, iPad Air will operate on GSM network technologies such as HSPA+ and DC-HSDPA. When you travel internationally, you can use a nano-SIM card from a local carrier."
Which I assume the iPad Air will work just fine in my country (Malaysia), with a local carrier / network. But, one question remains:
If let's say I want to buy the iPad Air (Wifi+Cellular) via Apple Store and I have to choose either one of these telco T-Mobile, Verizon Sprint or At&t (either one), which one should I choose? Because I'm not planning to use the iPad Air in the US, AT ALL. Well, I'm buying it for a friend who's living in Malaysia though. So, I wouldn't want to pay for bills or commit to any contract (contract FREE)

I'm going to run with the iPhone 5s/5c assumption that the Verizon model will be SIM unlocked due to the 700mhz block C LTE band being used in the device. I could be wrong but my fingers are crossed. I'm sure we'll find out on the 1st.

They aren't locked but the warranty for one with cellular capability will only be good in the US and there is no guarantee it will work with LTE in other countries.

If you purchase an unlocked iPhone it will work on any supported gsm network.
Just FYI, apple will not ship outside the country in which the device is purchased. A device purchased in the Hong Kong website must have a shipping and billing address in Hong Kong.
Also, warranty and support are only valid in the country of origin.

Yes, but you will need a valid mailing address in the US as well as a US payment method, either a US credit card or a US-issued iTunes card, to purchase. And you probably won't be able to update any such apps once you get back to Libya since you're not allowed to use the US iTunes Store from outside of its country.

I think you meant 10.6.8, not 10.8.6
It requires an upgrade, instead of a free update.

I want to unlock my iphone 4 to use with a different country's sim on holiday for 3 weeks. In doing this is my phone then locked to the network of the sim I used to unlock it (which wouldn't be the right sim anyway!) Or is it open to any network sim? My carrier has just told me that it would be locked to O2 if that was what I used to unlock it. And then if I wanted to get it back to be able to use my orange sim I would have to get O2 to then unlock it.... This isn't a viable option and doesn't seem to make much sense! Any help would be gratefully received!! Thanks

If you would like to unlock your iphone from o2 to use with any other networks you need to go to the o2 website and fill out an unlock form which you can find here:
Monthly Contract form: unlocking form
Pay as you go form: unlocking form
This will require you to give 2 mobile numbers you contact most frequently and £15 credit on the phone that they will take of after you complete and send the form of to o2.

Are iPad Safari's Cookies And Website Data The Same Thing?

Are they the same, and do they collect indefinitely until you manually clear them?

It is not clear if they are the same thing, but I do not believe so. There are two places to manually delete Data:
1. Settings - Safari - Clear Cookies and Data
2. Settings - Safari - Advanced - Website Data - Remove All Website Data
I tried clearing Cookies and Data, and the data previously listed under "Website Data" went away. When I tried just "Remove All Website Data", it went away again. I can not tell if Cookies also went away since I do not know how to examine them.
After clearing the website data, images on a facebook page had to reload when I revisited it. Normally they come up immediately. I know the images are definitely not "Cookies"!
As far as I kinow, website data collects indefinitely. I suggest you search the web for information about Cookies, to see if they have a limited lifetime.

If it's a 3G version then you just need to swap in a local micro-sim when you get to Spain, that way you'll avoid potentially high roaming charges. Otherwise wifi will work as it's the same wherever you are (assuming that you can find a wifi network). You will just potentially need an adapter for charging the iPad

Hi. Three days ago my iPad 2 got stolen from my car. Next night, I got an e mail from Find My iPhone, telling me the address my iPad being kept. It was in lock mode and it played a sound. I had the security cams and caught the *******, got my iPad back. When I got my iPad there was a screen telling me that the device is in lock mode and asked for the key to unlock. I unlocked it with my usual 4 digit password thinking all my data was saved. No. Everything was gone, but my Apple ID was in the settings section, iCloud etc. Furthermore, when I opened safari, some pages came up which I have never visited (he was looking for a car to buy I guess) so now I'm having trouble understanding what happened.

If you had a passcode on the phone when turning on Lost Mode, lost mode is supposed to use that passcode to lock the phone. When found, entering the passcode should unlock the phone. I'm assuming that's what you're trying to do, correct? However, if the phone is now saying it is "Disabled"...after too many wrong passcode attempts, then you have no choice but to restore the phone. Once disabled, you won't get another attempt to enter the passcode.
