Are iPhoto iOS effects available in iPhoto 11 or Aperture?

I really enjoy several of the cool effects available in IPhoto for iOS but am stumped that why they do not exist in the most recent version of IPhoto nor Aperture?
Am I missing something??? or is the one of the many elements caught in the gaps as Apple is integrating all their platforms???

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Neither application can do that. You'll need Photoshop Elements to change backgrounds or add text in a variety of ways. The text demo is actually a watermark type of text. There are other apps which can add text but PSE is the only one I'm familiar with that can do the type of background removal (except of course the full blown Photoshop).
Amazon.com sometimes has a deal on Photoshop Elements for Mac with about $10 off bringing it to around $79.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPhoto special effects available?

My question is so basic, I'm embarrassed to post it, but after searching with no results, here goes. I have iPhoto '08 as well as Aperture. I want to: 1. drop out the background from a photo; 2. superimpose type over a photo and 3. crop out something from a photo and replace it with another item.
Will iPhoto or Aperture do any of this? If so, what keywords should I be searching for the directions on how to do it? If not, can anyone recommend software that will?
    Thanks very much.

  • I have Garage Band for my IPad. I would like to add a "delay" effect to my music, but I do not see that effect available. How can I add it to the software? Thank you.

    Hello all,
I have Garage Band on my Ipad Mini and I notice that it does not have a "delay effect" that can be added to my music. There are other effects, but no delay, which is the most important one for me. How can I add this effect?  Thank you.

There are not many effects available in GarageBand on the iPad. You can add reverb and echo to the Master Track, but that's it.

  • Videos in iPhoto are not iOS compatible

When I've imported videos shot on my Lumix camera to iPhoto, it imports and plays them, but iOS devices won't import them when iTunes syncing.  Clearly, they are incompatible.
"Get info" shows the offending videos are 1920 × 1080, H.264, Linear PCM, Timecode, HD (1-1-1).
Is there a way of converting the videos to make them iOS compatible from within iPhoto?
(I'm guessing I'll need to convert the videos before importing them to iPhoto in future.)
    Thanks.

    What format are they?
No, iPhoto does not have a video conversion feature.

  • Who creates the Photo Box album in iPhoto iOS 7.1?

I just noticed an album in iPhoto iOS 7.1 that is titled "Photo Box."  How is it created?

It is one of the automatically created albums, see this help page:
    What are albums? http://help.apple.com/iphoto/iphone/2.0/?handbuch#blnkb9b1e2a
Photo Box: If a photo appears in an album (Edited, Favorites, Journals, or custom) and you delete the photo from your device, the photo remains in the album. If you remove the photo’s edits and tags, or delete the photo from the journal, iPhoto moves the photo to the Photo Box album (and removes it from the album it was in). If you edit or tag a photo in the Photo Box album, or add it to a journal, the photo is removed from the Photo Box album (and added to the appropriate album).
Basically, iPhoto keeps photos in this album, if they are needed for products.

  • IPhoto iOS workflow help

I have an iMac with Lion and iPhoto 11 (iLife 11) on. I also have an iPad 2, and now iPhoto for iOS.
So when I bought iPhoto iOS I thought what it would be would be an extension of iPhoto 11 on my iMac. What I mean is to help me edit, organise, fix my photos without being tied to my iMac.
So I thought the premise would be to sync some photos from my iMac to my iPad for on the go, do what I wanted with them, tag them, edit them, fix red eye, label them etc etc and then sync/copy back to my iMac for saving in my iPhoto library.
So I'm a little confused. What is it for, or how can I do the above? Surely lots of people want to do this sort of thing? I understand that photos taken on the iPad or iPhone via photo stream/iCloud could be edited, but ultimately they would want syncing back to the "home ship" of a Mac for use/backing up on a iPhoto library?
    Cheers

I think we all got caught in some euphoria after watching the iPhoto for iOS demo at the new iPad event last week. It all looked so slick. But it seems, and the MacWorld review stated it first, that iPhoto for iOS is a hobbyist app that allows someone to work with a few photos albums on their iPad or iPhone and share them to social media. It is definitely not an app that even a dedicated photographer would use let alone a semi pro or pro. And as we are finding out iPhoto for iOS definitely does not work with the Mac version.
I purchased iPhoto the day it w released but should have waited until I read some of the posts here in this forum. I used iPhoto a lot the first few days it was out, and pretty much tried every feature it had. But now that a week has gone by I've gone back to the app I depended on before iPhoto for iOS. That app is PhotoForge2.

  • HT204022 I have iPhoto, iOS, etc. all up to date.... however my iPad, iPhone, and Mac PhotoStreams all contain different pictures and aren't the same. Any ideas why? I'd rather not reset the whole thing if I don't have too.

OK, restart in Safe Mode, this will clear some caches. It's possible one or more is corrupt. To restart in Safe Mode when you hear the start up tone hold down the Shift Key until you see a progress bar. Let it fully boot then restart normally and test.
Also I am assuming you have checked Finder - Preferences  - General and see what boxes are checked in "Show these items on desktop." You can also mount an item in Disk Utility, simply highlight it and then look in the File menu for Mount.....

  • Why can't I delete photos from iPhoto (ios)

The whole point of the app seems to be to edit and organize photos, so if I've taken the time to hide some number of photos, why can't I then delete these? Instead I have to go to the Photo app and delete them there, which doesnt show me any of the tagging or organizing I spent time on in iphoto... It should at least then show me "hidden" photos in Photo so I can delete them there, or let me delete from iphoto and it just removes it from Photo after, it seems pretty simple.  Why has iphoto (ios) been limited in this way?

Adunn83 I agree, this needs to addressed by apple in the next update. You should be able to delete photos that are on the iPad camera roll from within iPhoto, end of discussion.
This stops the iPad being a pc replacement without this and iPhoto on the iPad was why I bought the largest iPad and not a mac, I'm not impressed and it should be a simple fix.
Does anyone know how we can let apple know to add this to the next update I tried to look how to email the developer but it just went thought to apple support and wanted to phone me. I just want to let the developers know its something customers want fixing, do the iphoto developers read this forum ?

  • Is there a workflow from iPhoto/iOS to Aperture 3

What I need is a workflow from iPhoto/iOS to Aperture 3, such as
    1. import images to iPad
    2. rate & modify pictures
    3. import to Aperture 3 the original images incl. rating and modifications (but not any modified copies)
I understood that's only possible between iPhoto apps on iOS devices - true?
Any (not too fancy) workaround available?
    Thanks for every hint.

  • Hot to import from IOS 8 "collections" into iPhoto?

Umm... Ok so everything's changed again and it's a big mystery.
How do I import photos from the new iPhone IOS 8 "collections" into iPhoto?
When I connect my iPhone, iPhoto only accesses and displays the "Recently Added" photos, which apparently is only the last 30 days. However there are many more photos on my phone, which are found now in the "Collections" view. Good grief why do they do this? Thank you.

Edit: Not even the photos appearing in iPhoto are accurate. There are some from well over 30 days ago, and some I took yesterday that do not appear in iPhoto with the iPhone connected. Totally random, frustrating, thanks Apple.

  • Are faces no longer supported in iPhoto 9.6?

I'm running iOS 10.10.1 & iPhoto 9.6.  I opened iPhoto the other day & got a prompt saying iPhoto needed to run a repair.  I clicked on the repair link & the next time I opened iPhoto, everything in the Faces library was gone.  There are what looks like blank photos with all the correct names, just nothing attached to the blanks.  The photo library is intact, just the Faces library seems to be gone.  Can anybody give me some ideas on how to fix this or if it's even possible to fix?

Did try launching iPhoto using the option + command key and select the options in sequence?

I'm really happy with the iPhoto 9.5 and running Mavericks. I want to know if the iPhoto 9.5 is compatible and available on Yosemite?

Both are available in iPhoto 9.5.1. and working well.
If you are unsure about upgrading to Yosemite, make sure to make a full backup of your system before upgrading (a Time Machine backup or a bootable clone). This way you can downgrade again, if you should find you are missing important features or apps you need are no longer working.
It is a good practice anyway never to upgrade without a working backup.

Does this happen if you try to Import to Library within iPhoto, or is it when you connect your camera (and which is set to automatically use iPhoto) that this error message occurs?
