Are iplanet messaging 5.2 using another POP server like xmail or xtramail?

I want to if iplanet has is own pop3 server.
And if is using code from xmail or xtramail because this two servers are vulnerable to overflow.
Please ASAP.

iPlanet uses a pop server derived from the Netscape POP server. As far as I know, there are NO security issues with it.

No. Mail is not sent through a POP server..it's sent through an SMTP server.
Contact your ISP and verify you have the correct SMTP settings.

Messages not being deleted from POP server...

...at least not quickly. I have Mail set up to delete messages from the server "When moved from Inbox". I assume deleting a message is included in this definition. Yet I can delete a message and the message won't be removed from the server for hours, if at all. I'll connect to the server multiple times in the interim, giving Mail a chance to update the server, but no dice.
I'll even empty the Trash in Mail and it still won't update on the server. Everything else seems to function in Mail and I have the problem on several different Macs with different POP accounts. Any ideas?
EDIT: I just deleted a bunch of old messages manually by using the Get Account Info interface. They successfully deleted, but newer ones which have been deleted and emptied from Mail (but not removed manually) still remain.

I just responded to another question that was similar to this one, so I have another suggestion or two..
Godaddy supports the automatic forwarding of email to any other email account. For backup purposes, I have my domain/email provider, http://www.fidomains.com , automatically forward any emails to a Gmail account. This allows me to have a backup to all my emails. Works Great! Godaddy will work well for that also.
Godaddy configuration info:
- Incoming mail server: imap.secureserver.net, Turn on SSL support and use port 993 for Godaddy. (Incoming)
- Outgoing server: smtpout.secureserver.net, SSL support and port 465 for Outgoing.

I listen to the BBC on their iPlayer. I have other applications which use Pop-ups. The iPlayer window comes to the fore every time I've used another pop-up, and I have to minimize it to carry on. How do I keep it minimized by default?

I listen to the radio on BBC iPlayer. Whenever another application opens a pop-up, the iPlayer window is activated first, then overlayed by the new pop-up. I work in the pop-up and close it, only to find that the iPlayer pop-up is active. I have to switch to my main application to carry on working. Doesn't sound a big problem, but I have to do this every few minutes.
How do I keep iPlayer in the background please?

Firefox no longer shows pictures for any website I go to. All graphics are gone. I tried using another browser and I am able to get pictures. I really like Firefox and want to be able to use it. This is for a pc.

About 10 days ago Firefox started to show only some pictures that should be on website--shopping sites or any other. After a few more day it now shows no pictures or graphics at all. It makes it almost impossible to use. I can see text, but it is rearranged on pages. Can't see buttons to click on etc.

Not sure from your example but it appears that the address doesn't have a full domain, i.e., the part between http:// and the next / is not a valid internet domain name, e.g.,
http://sometext-webproxy/
In that case, it's probably something running on your computer, either as part of your security software, or as a Firefox add-on, or malware.
A standard diagnostic to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings) is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [[Backing up your information]]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode ([[Safe Mode]]) using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode."
If you can access sites normally, this points to one of your extensions or custom settings as the problem.
To also disable plugins, you can try here:

TB stopped receiving emails after one with huge attachment. Updated TB. Can send but not receive. Using Yahoo POP server. Browser access works fine.

Several days ago, after receiving a 7MB attachment, I stopped receiving email on my Yahoo POP account. Browser access to the Yahoo server works fine. I obviously deleted that message and attachment but curiously, it and only it continued to be downloaded to my inbox!!! I tried downloading a new TB and installing it. Nothing changed except that specific email no longer appeared (another did though, see later). Settings are to leave msgs on server until I delete them. I transferred all my inbox to a local folder and then compacted mail and tried testing reception from another source and nothing appeared on TB, just on browser access. Oddly, one very old message repeatedly appears, I assume as a result of the auto check for new mail but not sure. Though I try to delete this old message, I can't. I haven't removed and recreated account yet because I don't want to lose all the filter history. Scanned for solution and can't find any. Any ideas, please?

Starting your mac in safe mode will disable the Symantec stuff long enough to download mail. Should the issue arise again

It sounds like you have some questions about how your email account stores your information. This article has some information about different email account types and how they work:

With IMAP accounts, incoming and outgoing messages are stored on a mail server until you delete them. When your account connects to the server, it’s synced so that the messages on your Mac are the same as those on the server. You can read and manage messages from any device that you use to access your account, and download messages or attachments to work with when you’re not connected to the Internet.
Microsoft Exchange accounts
These accounts are similar to IMAP accounts, in that messages are stored on a mail server and accessible from different computers and locations. You can use flags in an Exchange account with some limitations.
For an Exchange account to be set up in Mail, the Exchange server must support Exchange Web Services (EWS). Contact your server administrator for more information.
POP accounts
With POP accounts, incoming messages are stored on a mail server and are downloaded to your Mac when you access your account. The messages remain on the server until they’re deleted from the server.

I can't think of anything more idiotic than invoking the memory of Jobs here. Are you truly unaware that the iPad and iOS is pretty much exactly the way he wanted it to be, just like about everything else Apple?
As to your claim of "previous email applications", certainly none in iOS ever did that, and the only folders you can create and manipulate in POP accounts are those local to only that single machine or platform, not particularly helpful or desirable in today's environments.

How are the subst data tags used in Portal Server

I noticed this tags in the authentication pages, where are they stored? How do I modify their value? How are they used? A reference to the admin or programers guide is plenty I just couldn't find one.

They are defined in the auth module properties files (however I don't think any are defined in the product as it ships). The tags are of the form:
<subst data="key">othervalue</subst>
If the key is defined, the value of the key is substituted for othervalue, otherwise it is left untouched.

A virtual machine software package is a hunk of software that presents itself as computing hardware to the guest operating system software. The operating system software running as a guest within the virtual machine reads and writes memory and devices as it would do normally (when booted on physical hardware), and the virtual machine detects and translates these accesses and (hopefully) provides the responses expected by the guest operating system. For input and output to the user or to storage or network devices, the virtual machine can be coded to potentially pass through the read and write access to real hardware and real hardware I/O registers, or the virtual machine might be coded to simulate hardware; what are called virtual devices.
This virtual machinary as differentiated from dual- or triple-booting via separate disks, or via Apple's shared-partition Boot Camp software. In these cases, the operating system is booting directly on the hardware involved. Shut down and reboot to swap operating systems.
The Whonix distribution specifically targets privacy, and I'm not sure I'd want to run that as a guest, as the virtual machine or the host operating system that the virtual machine is running on probably doesn't have the same focus, and (if you're truely paranoid) might well report the presence of at least the virtual machine via (even entirely innocent) bug reports or crashes or such. This configuration might work as might dual-booting into Whonix via Boot Camp, though whether these configurations might leak information would have to be verified.
It'd probably be best to check with the Whonix folks directly around what they recommend, what's been tested, and what to look out for. In cases such as this one, having, knowing, operating and maintaining the configuration properly is key, and that discussion is far beyond what's usual here in the Apple forums.

How do I get iPlanet 6.0 to use the Java Server VM?

I've tried having java.option=-server in jvm12.conf, but the logs still say that the Client VM is being run.
Apart from actually modifying the java executable to put -server in the command line, how else can I achieve this?

POP server, v 32.1.0, "Get Messages" get's few messages at a time, while there are 1000's on the server to be downloaded/synched???

I am trying to use Thunderbird as email client and need to synch 1000's of messages (i.e. download them). Thunderbird only downloads a few at a time --when I click "Get Messages".
It is a POP server (Google) and I am using Thunderbird 32.1.0

Lets get some things crystal clear. Outlook is irrelevant. All other mail client are irrelevant. Second, anti virus vendors are sure to test their junk with the Number one email client in the world. will they bother going further. Apparently not if recent appalling releases from McAfee are anything to go by.
When you click get messages the first thing that occurs is your anti virus sticks it's head into the process and starts replacing passwords security certificates and generally acting much like a virus. Do not be under any illusions. The first this to do when there are mail issues is disable the anti virus email scanner. The second is reboot your computer in safe mode. The third is ring your provider/ISP and see if they are having issues.
A work email... there are significant issues being experienced by some Office 365 subscribers with email (or so my Small business mails list indicate)
So what mail server (exchange is a special case) are you using a VPN or other security software to access the site? RDP perhaps?
I continue with questions as is your y Is a small number then it would appear your mail server is only reporting a small number of mails to Thunderbird. But as I indicated earlier. Anti virus programs are a wildcard.
