Are Lightroom 3 and Windows 8 compatible?

Hi.
Hoping someone can help!
Will Lightroom 3 (3.5) work on windows 8?
I want to buy a laptop for tethered shooting & most now come with windows 8 as standard. My camera is a Canon 5D Mk ii.
Many thanks

  • Are Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC compatible with OS X Mavericks?

Would like to check compatibility of Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC with OSX Maverick.   Will I have to reinstall these apps after I upgrade?

Okay, that is helpful. What resolution you have a file set to makes no difference at all. It can be 10 dpi or 1000 dpi. Resolution only makes a difference to an output device (printer).
Notice to the right that the brush icons, and the brush sample are smooth. So it's not a driver, profile, or monitor resolution or color depth issue. If it were, they'd look just as bad.
So that only leaves the image itself. Though for the life of me, I can't get PS CC to duplicate what you're seeing. The smaller brush stroke to the lower left on your screen shot looks normal, so why are the larger ones banding so badly? It doesn't make sense.
Edit: Oh! Wait, something is wrong here. You have the opacity of the brush set at 27%. So there's no way it should be drawing a solid black center. It should look like below where I changed the opacity to 27% and then drew the grayish strokes.
The opacity is not being represented correctly. No idea at the moment what would be the cause.

  • Are Flash Player and Windows 7 compatible?

    Hello,
I own an ACER Iconia W500 tablet with Windows 7 Home Premium and Adobe Flash Player preinstalled. I am having problems with Aero Peek, which I suspect can be somehow related to Flash Player.
From time to time the Aero Peek button in the lower right corner of the screen begins to flash, initerimitently, and closes all open windows. When this happens a small white circle flashes from the corner, as attracting the cursor to the button, and when I carry the cursor with the mouse to the center and release the mouse button the cursor returns to the corner and closes the windows. Sometimes, when this is happening, a popup springs from the button asking to update Adobe Flash Player. This is the reason to suspect of it.
I disabled Aero Peek, both from the taskbar and the control panel, and things go better, but the problem persists from time to time. I also uninstalled (?) Flash Player, but when I enter
    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
I get "You have version 11.0.1.152 installed". So it is not uninstalled.
I don't know what more to do.
Could you try to help me, please?
Thank you. Have a nice day!

Which browser did you use to browse to the flash version page?
Chrome browser uses a different Flash Player plugin as compare to Firefox and IE, try browsing to the same page with the other browser.
Update your Flash Player to the latest version and see if the update notification still persist.

  • Lightroom 4 and Windows XP

I'm VERYdisappointed that Lightroom 4 is incompatible with Windows XP.  I've been using Lightroom since version 2 and am quite fond of it.  If enough people complain, will Adobe respond with a solution other than "upgrade to Windows 7" or "buy a MAC" or just plain ole "sorry"?
    Message was edited by: isom1920

Windows XP will not be supported.  It's 11 years old and Windows 8 is just around the corner.  They also dropped support for many Mac OSs and also for any 32 bit Macs.

  • Lightroom 6 and windows 32 bit

    Hi,
I just wanted to start with the next level of photo shooting/editing.
Thus I purchsed Lightroom 6 and when I installed it, a error message came up ...
it needs obviously a 64bit computer.
    What can I do now?!?!
I the only chance to buy a new desktop?!?!
    Thx,

I also bought the download LR version 6 as an update of LR version 5.7 and tried to install it with the same error message of a 64bit windows version.
But this is not mentioned in the "Systemanforderung". They write following for:
    Windows
       - Intel®- oder AMD-Prozessor mit 64-Bit-Unterstützung*
         - Windows 7 mit Service Pack 1, Windows 8 oder Windows 8.1
    * Doppelkern-Prozessor für HD- oder AVCHD-Funktionen empfohlen
The same is mentioned for LR version 5
There isn`t given any directive to use a 64bit Win 7 version, only the recommendation for the processor *...
Does it really mean for LR6 is a 64bit WIN version necesary?
If yes, what can I do to reject version LR6 and get my money back?
    Thx

  • I have Lightroom 5 and am trying to create some HDR Images for my Real Estate Business. I do not have the option to even be able to stack my photos. My headings are: Lightroom- File-Edit-Window-Help. Why does it not give me the option to be able to Stack?

Can i stack JPEG images or do they have to be Raw Files? The other help videos I have seen have the shortcut CommandG to stack, mine does not respond that command nor do i have a heading labeled Photos.

In order to stack images they must be all highlighted as a group. And the group must be contiguous, in other words next to each other. However, if you are talking about stacking images for the purposes of creating an HDR image, that cannot be done using Lightroom. You will need Photoshop or some other software with HDR capabilities in order to do that. It is possible to stack any file type or combination of file types, including  virtual copies.

  • Are iTunes iOS 5 and Windows XP compatible?

I'm having problems installing the latest iTunes on my Windows XP laptop. I imported the .exe file but half way through executing installation it comes up with an error. Is latest version of iTunes compatible with Windows XP?

The latest version of iTunes refuses to install on x64 with the information that Win x64 is not supported.
That's annoying, I hope there will be a 64bit version soon...

  • People tags in Lightroom 6 and Windows Live Photo Gallery

I think I'm finally ready to make the switch to lightroom from WLPG for photos management. I've used LR for a long time to do the edits but people tags are huge and kept all of my photo management in WLPG. I have 100k organized photos and they are all people tagged in WLPG. I just started the LR6 trial and noticed it doesn't honor existing WLPG people tags. Is there a way to import them / avoid redoing people tags for 100k pictures? Which, simply won't happen.
Side question - people tags and coordinates export with jpg outputs from LR6 (assuming I don't intentionally turn them off at export), correct?

Below is the solution to get face tags from windows photo gallery to Lightroom for me. Be sure to backup your files.
    *** Backup your files ***
Step 1: Mopve the people names and the rectangles for the people into a different field in the .jpg metadata
    Download Exiftool
I ran the command below from the command prompt and in the folder with exiftool and the configuration file found from the link below:
    exiftool.exe -config ExifTool_config_convert_regions "-regioninfo<myregion" "foldername" -m -r -overwrite_originals_in_place
"foldername" is the folder / path you want to make the change for. -m ignores minor errors, -r includes subfolders, -overwrite... means it will NOT create the otherwise default backup for each file changes (filename.jpg_original).
Copy Windows Photo Gallery face tags to Google Picasa
Step 2: Move people names to keywords for Lightroom. Do this if you're using lightroom, do not do it if you're using picassa. I haven't yet been able to check to see but I'm guessing I will have to "convert it to a person tag" in lightroom keywords since they show as descriptive tags but I have tested everything else.
Add the people names to the keywords
    exiftool "-xmp:subject+<regionname" FolderName -overwrite_origional_in_place -m -r
Where FolderName is the folder / path the pictures you want to edit are in
    This came from:

  • Lightroom 2 and Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Compatibility

I just got a new laptop with Vista Home Premium 64 and a free upgrade to Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit, coming soon.
Is LR 2 compatible with Win 7 64 bit?

The answer for this question, according to Adobe support, is "NO".
I've been having terrible problems with LR2 constantly crashing (and hanging the computer) after upgrading from Vista 32 to Win7 64.  After offering some largely useless suggestions, support at Adobe said the following:
    >>Based on the information provided by you, I understand that you Lightroom is crashing. I would be glad to assist you we will work together as a team to find out the best possible resolution for your issue. In this case I would like to inform you that Lightroom is not comaptible with Win 7 (64 bit).
They do list Win7 compatibility on marketing information on the website.  But my case was closed after that response, which is pretty non-ambiguous.

  • Are the Mac and Windows forums for InDesign combined now or am I missing something?

If they are I'm not so sure this is a good idea.

There certainly are platform specific issues, but the bulk of what we saw before in the Windows half was more on the order of "how do I..." which would have been answered the same on either side. I had the same feeling when I wandered over into the Mac forum. On the other hand, I never felt particularly welcome, as a PC user, on the Mac side.
You can edit your profile, by the way, to show your full name instead of your screen name (under preferences). I think the count thing may be because you didn't log  in and combine your accounts before the switch. I was asked to do it twice (the second time surprised me) and wouldn't have seen it except that I logged out purposely during the demo to see what would happen.

  • Lightroom 5 and  Windows Vista 72 bit O.S.

I purchased and downloaded Adobe Lightroom 5.  During its installation, I learned that it is not compatable with my Windows Vista 72 bit operating system.  The product package indicated "Microsoft Windows XP not supported."  No mention was made regarding Vista. It is a fair assumption that Vista would suffice, since it is later than the operating system mentioned. Is there a work-around for this?  If not, what will Adobe do to resolve this dilemma? I would be satisfied to exchange for Lightroom 4.

  • Trouble with Lightroom 4 and windows 8

after recently updating my operating system to windows 8 i started getting this message every time i tried to open my Lightroom 4 even after restarting my computer. I also uninstalled and then reinstalled Lightroom 4 to see if that was the problem as well but still no luck. Can anyone help?

There is a LOCK file holding it up. Close LR and search for a file that has the same name as your catalog but has a .LOCK extension. Delete the Lock file. Open Lightroom. It should work.

  • Are Apple TV and recording devices compatible

I am considering switching from cable to Apple TV.  However, I would like to know if Apple TV and recording devices are compatible.

AppleTVs don't get authorised as such in the way you would an iTunes library on a computer.
Apple introduced this email system about 18 months ago from memory, to alert you the first time someone makes a new purchase with your credentials on an iOS device/computer you've never used before.
They seem like an annoyance but probably not a bad thing in reality.
So long as it coincides with such an event the email is likely to be genuine.

  • Is Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS6 compatible with OS X Yosemite?

I do not want to upgrade to Creative cloud as I only use the programs on occasion. I want to upgrade my Mac to OS X Yosemite and don't want to lose access to them.

    Please be careful

I upgraded this evening and now have no CS5!!
An Adobe agent has just told me that LR4 is NOT compatible with Yosemite!
The same agent felt it would be a good idea for me to pay Adobe $400 to upgrade to CS6 and then I could use LR4 and PS!!!!!!!!
