Are my movies in iTunes in the cloud

Are my personal movies that are in iTunes in the cloud

Ditto to this request!  In case Apple styaff read these things posts, I think customers would prefer buying iCloud space and storing everything there to access easily when they need it rather than having it on their iPad taking up space.  Of course this eats into the business model of creating different sized capacity iPads (16, 32, 64 Go) a bit, but goes into a BM of having customers purchase cloud storage, which is really the direction of the future for storage.
for example, just because I may have bought 100 movies, I may only want five on my iPad at a given time due to capacity or simply due to not cluttering up my visual space (simplicity in picking what I want to view).  Hopefully they'll go in this direction (after the battle with movie rights, etc.)

How do I move purchased movies from itunes to the icloud?  I only want them off my laptop (library), as I need more space.  I want to keep them on the ipad they have been moved to.

Delete them from the local computer.  Nothing gets moved.  If the content was purchased from iTunes it should be available for download again in the future.

If the device is synced with iTunes on the computer and the content is deleted from iTunes it will also be removed from the device.
Realistically, if you want to keep the content, keep it stored locally.  Purchase an external drive to store the content on.  Keep in mind that iOS devices are NOT backup devices, they merely mirror the content in the iTunes library on the computer.

Are you sure you bought and not rented them?  Renting lets you to access the video for up to 48 hours.

Do you have a question ? Not all content is available for re-downloading e.g. if the content provider (or Apple) removes them from the store, and there are also some film studios (in countries where film re-downlaoding is possible) who haven't agreed to allow their films to be re-downloaded.
    Otherwise, re-downloading : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519

  • Are apple working on a fix for iTunes in the cloud in ios6?

After updating to ios6 I've been incredibly frustrated with iTunes in the cloud. Gone are the options of downloading and deleting individual songs and the service has gone down the streaming route. I can understand how this benefits some but it is a hindrance to me. In the uk - iPhone data packages are far from unlimited and the 2GB I have per month has been exceeded twice due to itunes! I have the 64gb iPhone but my music collection is over 100gb hence why the service was perfect for me before - I could download individual songs on request rather than entire albums
The reason I'm asking the question is that I got an email to say my subscription is up for renewal - if the service will be reverted back in the near future to how it was in ios5 then it's worth renewing - otherwise it's for the bin

Yes but streaming whilst using my data allowance is dangerous as I have gone over it several times. To stream a song and keep it on the device you have to listen to the entire song - this isn't practical for me - I tended to download songs whilst having a wifi connection that would set me up for the rest of the day - this was possible by downloading individual tracks - something that has been removed from ios6. Now I have to run te risk of going over my data allowance and it now at the point where I am deliberately not listening to music incase this happens - surely apple doesn't want it's users to reduce their listening time? - well that's the situation they have created. I have several friends who are in the same predicament - the new iTunes in the cloud is like a beta version and the ios5 version was a far better service.
If its going to continue as it is I will have no choice but to cancel - having to pay the subscription then pay the charges for going over my Internet allowance every few months - not worth it

  • Why won't movies save to iTunes in the Cloud any more?

    Hey-
So I was browsing iTunes for movies, and each and every single one says that by downloading it, it won't be saved in iTunes in the Cloud.
    WHY?
And does this mean that you can only put the movie on one device?

I was wondering this as well.  It seems as though, all of a sudden this morning, there aren't ANY movies available in the cloud right now.  Whereas a couple days ago, pretty much EVERY movie was available in the cloud.  I'm so confused!

The movie is from iTunes.   You would think that a download from iTunes to a MacBook could be watched on an HDTV using Apple TV without any headaches bit this does not appear to be the case.

  • Can I trust iTunes in the Cloud to retain past purchases?

I've been using iTunes for several years now to download and watch television episodes, since long before the advent of iTunes in the Cloud, with its ability to re-download previously purchased music, television, and (most recently) movies. Prior to the advent of this service the iTunes user was solely responsible for retaining backups of purchases, although an additional download might be granted in case of catastrophe.
With this in mind, and as my collection quickly expanded beyond the threshold where I could reasonably back it up to optical media, I purchased a two-terabyte Network Attached Storage drive, configured in a RAID array for added redundancy. Unfortunately, my iTunes media library is now approaching one terabyte in size by itself, and along with the many other things that I store on the drive is beginning to approach the drive's capacity.
So, the iTunes in the Cloud thing sounds awesome, but I'd like to know more about the troubling caveat that 'previous purchases may be unavailable if they are no longer on the iTunes Store' before I jettison the bulk of my local media collection. I'm aware of, and can deal with, the reality that contractual obligations and other things may force the withdrawal of legacy iOS applications (Glyder 1/2, the Fighting Fantasy series, Zumocast), but am less able to suffer the unexpected loss of television series content that may represent hundreds of dollars of purchases.
Other media outlets like HBO Go and Netflix Instant Watch note if and when certain content may become unavailable in the future. Does iTunes have anything similar, or am I essentially flying blind if I choose to delete my media?

I would not delete the media unless you don't want it.
Even subtle changes to content listings can render thinsg unavailable.
I have several Music Videos I have never been able to upgrade to itunes Plus - they still seem to be in the store with identical running times, but itunes support claim they are somehow different and need to be purchased again - no chance.
I bought nearly 2 seasons of a Disney kids show - those sesons are no longer in the store as they've split each season into volumes (season 1 = volumes 1 and 2, season 2 = volumes 3 and 4).
For the sake of the cost of external storage these days I think it's well worth the hassle of keeping backups.
You could argue however that if 95% of stuff remains redownloadable is the cost of the 5% offset by the hassle/cost of keeping backups even if it 'changed' and had to be repurchased.
The trouble is we just don't know if it'll be 99%/1%, 95%/5%, 50%/50% in the future even if it looks favourable now. Movies frequently seem to flip from rental only to purchase only here in UK, not sure about elsewhere.

  • ITunes in the Cloud option no longer available in iTunes 12

I upgraded to Yosemite about a week ago, and I am now running iTunes 12.0.1.26.  I use my MacBook Air to stream iTunes movie and TV show purchases to my TV, and I like having the option of streaming content directly from the cloud rather than downloading it to my computer's hard drive.  Normally, after every iTunes upgrade since the introduction of "iTunes in the Cloud," I have to go to the iTunes preferences menu to enable the "iTunes in the Cloud" setting to see my purchases that are available to stream. (I don't know why Apple doesn't enable this by default. Improvement opportunity!)  However, in iTunes 12, this setting is not available.  Has the "iTunes in the Cloud" setting been moved somewhere else?  I sure hope this feature hasn't been abandoned.
I have signed out of iTunes, deauthorized my computer, turned off iTunes match, and genius, then signed back into everything, but that hasn't helped.
Any guidance would be much appreciated.
    I have a 13" mid-2011 MacBook Air with a Core i7 and 4GB of RAM running OS 10.10.

Do you see anything at all on the purchased page, headings links, tools etc.

No, those commands do not do that.
I checked with Apple to find out how to do this.
You misunderstood or they gave you incorrect information.
Now, I am looking for a way to see my library on the cloud
    You cannot.
to see what it looks like and if it really got matched there.
iTunes Match ($24.99) has not been released yet. The only songs currently available are songs you have already purchased through iTunes.
When iTunes Match is available, you will view your library though iTunes on the computer or the iDevice, just as you do now.
In iTunes on the computer, select the iTunes store.
Click on Purchased on the right side, under Quick links.
This will show you (only) what you have purchased and allow you to redownload these items.
    On your iDevice, open iTunes.
Select Purchased across the bottom to see purchased music and allow your to redownload them.
Open the App store and select Purchased across the bottom to see purchases apps and allow you to redownload them.

  • When "Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases" is selected in "Preferences" it causes my itunes to crash. Any help will be much appreciated.

    Ok,
This started happening a couple days ago. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing. I also disabled my firewall and antivirus to make sure nothing was blocking that connection. I read, in this community, that you could open itunes in safe-mode and turn off the "Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases" selection in the preferences menu. This stopped my itunes from crashing upon opening but I no longer have access to my movies in the cloud. If I select that option, as soon as it tries to connect, itunes crashes. Is there a fix?

Try iTunes Store > Quick Links > Purchased > Music > Not in My Library.
    Also:
Try Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Reset Cache.
Try signing out of the store and then back in again.
See if you are able to re-engage the "Show iTunes in the cloud purchases" option.

  • Germany: Can't redownload purchased movies/TV shows from the cloud

iTunes in the cloud for movies and TV shows launched yesterday in Germany. Everything purchased appears online in the purchased items section of the iTunes Store, but when I want to redownload somehting I get the error "This item is temporarily unavailable."(Mac OS) or "The item you tried to buy is no longer available."(iOS). This happens with all previously purchased movies and TV shows. I checked that they are really available in the iTunes Store, rebooted, deleted the iTunes Store cache, logged out and back in in the iTunes Store and this issue still exists for me (and other people I talked to). Has someboy an idea how to solve this problem?

After over 24 hours this issue seems now to have been resolved But not exactly the smooth feature rollout you would expect from Apple...

  • IPad "Other" Storage is Huge - Blame iTunes in the Cloud Streaming?

I have almost 6GB of "other" storage, according to iTunes. My iPad keep prompting me that my storage is almost full. My "other" storage seems to keep increasing every time I stream a purchased movie or TV show from iTunes in the Cloud. It seems like iOS 7 is downloading the file for me to watch, but then once I finish watching it, the file stays on my iPad. I have gone into Settings>Usage and my iPad says my Videos app is empty (which is true, because I was only streaming the movie or TV show). This problem caused me to already have to do a fresh install of iOS 7 once on my iPad, and I'm quickly approaching the point where I'm going to have to do a fresh install again. This bug is annoying. Does anyone else have a solution for this? I'm going to report the bug to Apple.

Go into your settings app and make sure you haven't accidentally switched the "show all songs" setting off. Even if you're reasonably sure you didn't do that it won't hurt to check, or turn it off and then back on again to see if changes anything. If that setting is turned off, the phone hides songs that have the "cloud" option (but you can still find them if you search by pulling down to reveal the "search" box above the top of your song list).
    Other things that might help:
    - "force quit" your music app by double-clicking the home button, then touch the music app in the bottom row until it squiggles, then tap the "x". When you start the music app back up again, it will reload the icloud data.
    - shut itunes match off in the settings app, then open the music app, then turn match on again, and open the music app again - this should wipe out the icloud information on your phone and force the phone to get a fresh copy (you may want to do the "force quit" too, but just to hurry it up since the music app doesn't always realize it needs to update right away)
But these are all guesses, I haven't seen this problem myself. It could also be a temporary glitch on the apple servers, and may clear itself up without you needing to do anything.
